Well, after the success of Josh's first Safari Game, how could he not come back for more? Admittedly it was expensive though... And he could only do this twice a month, so he had to be careful. His first priority for these games now was simple, find Pokemon he'd like to have on his team before focusing on collecting and gathering Pokemon for back-up teams in Gym and Tournament situations. But what would be a good fit for his team, he had wondered.
Well, a Charmander of course. He couldn't decide what he'd find here, but he'd visit here multiple times over these next few months, scrounging the money somehow if the blonde had to. Charmander evolved into Charmeleon, and Charmeleon into Charizard, the Fire/Flying type. It was also a legitimate badass, which would make a strong and large flyer on his team that he knew he was going to need for travels to come. That was why he'd picked Zone 2 for this. He was willing to put in the time to raise a Charmander to get to that point... But he had to find one first. And by the looks of it, this Safari Zone was, as rumors said, the only place in these parts where he would be able to find one.
Of course, nobody said it would be easy. Actually, if it was anything like Amber's luck last time, Josh had a good chance of finding anything BUT what he was looking for. But just in case he ran into the fire type, Josh had decided to bring Vector along. It was kind of ironic, really, that he'd picked the first Pokemon he'd officially caught since coming to Hoenn for this, and moreso that he'd caught him in the Safari Zone not too long ago. The Totodile seemed happy to be in somewhat-home territory, and he danced about as he walked with his Trainer, kicking his legs in the air, as if trying to flutter like a fucking Yoshi. Yoshi... That would make a good name if he ever got himself a Tyrunt. Put that on the To Do list...
The dynamic duo wasn't looking for the computer room today, but Josh was certain this would still be an adventure. Josh would crouch down as they came to the tall grass and would start crawling stealthily through it... Using his experience in stealthily finding Pokemon as a kid that liked to hide when they would get out of the pen at the breeding center... Vector would think this like a game, and mimic his Trainer as he crawled along beside him, trying not to chortle at these shenanigans.

"Shh, Vector, quiet.." Josh whispered, shushing the previously noise-making Totodile as they made their way through the grass. Sadly, the game seemed to be up as Vector would suddenly leap out of the grass. "Totototototo-dile!" he would let out eagerly, obviously a bit too excited for his own good. Annnnd sadly, this would come back to bite them as the Totodile's eager shouts would scare out a Larvesta, which would instantly lash out in fear.
"Hey, Vector look out!" Josh called, though too late as Vector would eat a Take Down and go flying backwards, landing on his back. "Toto...." he muttered in pain. "Come on, Vector! We're not going to let something like this get to us, are we?" he encouraged. "Get up, hit it with a Crunch attack!" he called. "Toto" Vector would let out as his expression changed to a fierce one. He would lunge at the Larvesta, who would back up, dodging it. "Again, Vector!" Josh called, followed up with Vector trying to clamp the Larvesta again. The Larvesta this time would dodge out of the way and release a String Shot that would wrap around Vector. Josh gritted his teeth. "Gah..." he muttered. No... He couldn't get stressed. If the Trainer let themselves allow their nerves to overcome them, their Pokemon would be nervous too... He just had to remain calm. "Vector, I want you to relax, focus on the weak spots in the-"
He couldn't finish, the Larvesta would suddenly envelop itself in flames and slam into the immobilized Vector, sending him flying back. Josh would grit his teeth. "Come on..." he cursed under his breath. "Come on Vector, break free!" he shouted in determination.
"Toto... DILE!" Vector would let out as he finally used his claws to get himself free. "All right, Vector! Let's show this guy who's boss!" Josh said, grinning. "Vector, use Scary Face!" he called out. Vector's eyes would glow red, and it would stare at the Larvesta menacingly, causing it to jump a bit in fright. "Hurry, before it can attack, use Rage!" Josh called.
The red glow would only get worse as Vector's arm glowed red. With the speed loss, the Larvesta was unable to get out of the way as Vector would nail it with a hard claw that would send it flying back. Of course, that didn't seem to finish it as it would get up. Sadly, Josh had lost control of his Totodile, and Vector would strike at the Larvesta again in a blind rage. The Larvesta would meet it head on with a Take Down, sending them both staggering back. Josh gritted his teeth. He needed to find a weakness... He didn't know how long his Totodile would last.
Wait, it'd used a fire attack earlier... Could it be...
"Vector, you have to knock it into the water!" Josh called out to his Totodile. He didn't know how much good it would do, but finally, Vector seemed to be listening. Dodging an attempted Bug Bite, Vector would let out a "Toto... DILE!" with as much strength as he could before slamming the claw into Larvesta, sending it flying into the water.
Josh noticed that it seemed to be uncomfortable and unbalanced in the water... It was out of it's environment, and Vector was.
"Vector, dive into the water and use Rage one more time!" he called out. Vector would nod and dive into the lake nearby that he'd knocked the Larvesta into, before coming out and hitting it with another Rage before it could react. The Larvesta would fly out of the water, before managing to stagger up and flee.
"Alright, Vector!" Josh celebrated, raising an arm. "That was great! I knew I could count on you!"
"Totodile!" Vector let out eagerly as he leaped into the air, dancing about with his feet kicking around. Josh smirked and motioned for him to follow. "Come on, we got Pokemon to find!" he called. The Totodile would eagerly follow his Trainer.

"I wonder if we'll ever find a Charmander here?" Josh mused as he looked around. Suddenly, Vector would jump into the grass, and sink his teeth into something. Seems the Totodile had gotten a bit too overzealous for his own good.
An Ember attack would set the grass on fire, burning that patch to the ground as it would send Vector flying back. Josh's eyes widened as he looked over to see what was going on. "Wait, that's a Charmander!" Josh said, before eying Vector. "Hey, you alright?" he asked as he knelled down to check on his friend. "Toto..... Toto...." Vector breathed as he stared up at the sky, obviously exhausted from two battles in a row. "Alright, Vector... You've done good. You deserve a rest" Josh said as he sighed, returning the Totodile to his Pokeball.
He would get up and turn to face the Charmander, who was staring at him with rage in it's eyes... Seems the Charmander wasn't happy about having it's tail bitten. But which Pokemon should Josh use, with his Water type exhausted?
Might as well fight fire with fire he supposed.
"Go, Inferno!" Josh called as he tossed a Pokeball, with the Cyndaquil popping out. "Cyndaquil!" Inferno let out as Josh smirked, motioning toward the Charmander. "Get ready, Inferno! This one's not happy with us!" he advised. He felt confident... Even if this was Inferno's first official non-training battle, he for some reason had confidence in his abilities.
Now, to unveil the weapon that this Cyndaquil possessed, that Josh was looking forward to surprising someone with at some point....
"Inferno.... USE EXTRASENSORY!" Josh called. Inferno would nod as the Charmander would lunge at the Cyndaquil, it's mouth starting to flare up... It was going for a Fire Fang.
"QUILLLLLL!" Inferno let out, though the flames on his back didn't light up... Instead, a yellow beam would shoot out of his mouth, enveloping the Charmander who would be sent flying back by the sudden Psychic attack.
“Alright, good job, Inferno!” Josh encouraged. “Cynda Cynda Cyndaquil!” Inferno responded excitedly, obviously overjoyed that he was doing well in his first battle. Of course, that momentary distraction would allow for the Charmander to shoot a blast of fire, a Dragon Rage, that hit the Cyndaquil square, sending him flying back. “QUILL!” Inferno let out in a yelp as he flew through the air, but Josh managed to catch him and hold him to his chest. “You alright there, little buddy?” the blonde asked, taking a breath as he checked on his Cyndaquil. “Quill…” Inferno whimpered, his timid and un-confident side showing. Josh smiled and rubbed the head of his Cyndaquil. “Hey, I know you can do it” he comforted with a smile. “Just believe in yourself, and you’ll do fine. You had him just now, it’s just like I taught you in training, you’re going to deliver hits, and you’re going to take hits. You just took a hit, now it’s time to hit him back!” he said with a smile as he put him down.
“Now let’s see how he likes something that’s super effective against him, Inferno! Use Rollout!” Josh called.
“QUILL!” Inferno responded as the Cyndaquil curled into a ball. The ball would start rolling at high speeds toward the Charmander, who wasn’t able to get out of the way in time and was sent crashing at high speeds into a rock.
“Alright!” Josh chirped eagerly. “We got it on the ropes now, Inferno! Keep that Rollout going!” he said. “Quill!” Inferno responded eagerly, turning around and going right for the Charmander again. This time though, it would shoot an Ember the way of the Cyndaquil, stopping it despite how much it rolled. Finally, Inferno would roll out of the ball and start taking the brunt of the Ember shots. “Inferno, you can’t let him keep hitting you! Hit him with Flamethrower!” Josh called. “Quill….” Inferno whimpered, trying to get itself into proper fighting shape… Finally, the flames on his back finally flared up, and he opened his mouth….
“QUIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLL!” Inferno let out, shooting a large jet of flames toward the Ember shots, engulfing and overpowering them as the Flamethrower also went straight into the Charmander, who it scored a direct hit against. When the smoke cleared, Josh could see the Charmander weak, about ready to faint….
“Alright, this is it! Pokeball, go!” Josh said as he tossed the Safari Ball. It would collide with the Charmander, sucking it in… After a few ticks, it would let out a chime, and Josh grinned wide as he picked up the ball. “Alright, we got Charmander!” Josh said to Inferno. “Cyndaquil!” Inferno let out excitedly, obviously incredibly proud of himself. “You did great out there, Inferno. Happy to have you on the team. And now we have a new friend” Josh said, patting his head. “Cynda!” Inferno responded happily. “Come on, our Safari Game is over now. It’s best we head out and get something to eat” Josh said as the two happily trotted to the exit, Safari Ball in the blonde’s hand.
