digging again!

Another season for hunting in the Badlands was upon everyone, and Kouji wanted to make sure that he would be one of those who would be getting lucky and finding something good. If it’s not a fossil or a marble, then it’s nothing, he thought as he then prepared for the day ahead. He was staying over at a rented room in one of Lumiose’s apartment complexes for the time being, and decided to get ready, picking out his clothes and getting his equipment ready. He then went to and from the kitchen, making sandwiches and getting the extra bags of PokeTreats crammed into his backpack, before filling up another few water containers and then tossing them into said backpack as well. He then leaned the shovel against one side of the bed he was laying most of his stuff out on, and then disappeared to take a quick shower. Some ten minutes later, he emerged wrapped in a towel, before quickly placing on the clothes he’d laid out for the day ahead, before grabbing everything, including the shovel and heading out the door.
Another fifteen minutes had him out on the streets of Lumiose, headed towards the exit that led to Route 13, which was also the location of the Kalos power Plant—and the Badlands. He knew he had to get there as quickly as possible, so he’d skipped on eating before heading out, and decided to just go through the sandwiches later. He then saw that there was quite a crowd headed in the same direction he was, and he then proceeded to pick up the pace; otherwise he may be beaten to whatever is out there! He then exited the gates of Lumiose and saw that, for the first time, the line was extending almost all the way to the city limits—what was with the Badlands these days? He could only sigh as he then fell in line in order to be able to approach the excavation area—he knew that some people were already striking it rich; some others were still getting started—and quite interestingly his benefactor had already found another one of those shining marbles; though what she was going to do with it he would never know.
The line continued to move, and another twenty minutes finally had him at the inspection site, before the guard then went through his things and nodded, letting him through. He then saw that there were a lot of people out today, and he then knew he had to look for a spot that hadn’t been touched yet. Alright, where to go… he thought as he began circling around the area—another ten minutes’ worth of walking found him at a pretty deserted place; only topped by a watch tower not too far away. “Alright, here goes…” he muttered, dropping the backpack to the dirt and then quickly starting to dig through the area, wondering what he would be able to find this time.

It didn’t take long for Kouji to actually find something—he saw it the moment the sun glared right in his eyes. Wondering if it was a marble, he then began uncovering as much of the dirt as possible—and then stopped when he recognized that it was a Sun Stone. “Welp, not my area,” he muttered, quickly abandoning the site; hoisting up his backpack and picking up his shovel, before moving to another place. He then wondered if it would be a good idea for some of his ‘mons to help dig, so upon arriving at a new spot that was approximately ten minutes away from the first, he then sent out two of his companions—the first one was Hiekka, his Krookodile—while the other was Rymista, his recently-evolved Gallade. The two then looked at Kouji first, out of confusion—before realizing that he had already deposited his own backpack on the grit and was digging.
“Hie, what’re you waiting for? Go dig!” he said with this sheepish look on his face, and the Krookodile then immediately proceeded to go towards the nearest pile of land that looked appealing to it, and then began diving in and out of the ground! “Rymi, uhhh. Can you stand guard for me, please?” he asked the Gallade quite nervously; before he nodded and then proceeded to walk around the perimeter of the area where his master and the Krookodile were now digging. “Okay, let’s try this again,” he muttered to himself, continuing to dig up the dirt in this new spot—because who knew if he would be able to find something in here this time…
Dig Dig Dig . . . What's this?! Congratulations, You've found RELIC VASE ! A vase made in a civilization about 3,000 years ago. A maniac will buy it for a high price.

This time around, it wouldn’t take too long before Kouji had found something—the only problem is, he also heard a very ominous cracking noise that came along with it. “Oh, crap,” he hissed to himself, looking at the half-excavated vase that was sticking out of the sand…before the top rolled off and came to a stop in front of his foot. “Oops, must have been digging too hard…” he muttered to himself as he hastily dug up the shattered-into-pieces vase that was now looking up at him. The Gallade was on patrol not too far away; while the Krookodile he could still see from the corner of his eye, diving in and out of the dirt, bringing up a lot of grit, but nothing else to show for it. “Time to go to the next location,” he muttered, quickly picking up his backpack and abandoning the site, before walking a few meters to another spot. He was pretty sure that his Krookodile would still be able to hear him; however he was slightly worried for his Gallade; what if he missed him when he got back to the place where he was earlier?
“Nah, don’t worry too much…” he muttered to himself as he then dropped down his backpack again not too far from where he was going to try his luck again, and then slowly but surely began digging in a circular site around the place; his backpack being the center point of his little searching spot. He knew he was going to be disturbing a lot of earth, but decided to turn everything over and search it with a magnifying glass—pun intended of course. “Come on, there has to be something out there…” he muttered to himself as he then lulled himself into absolute silence, letting just the sound of scraping earth and the thudding of the shovel echo around him.

Oops, I broke the vase! OTL (passing on it anyways)

last chance omlordie

Kouji had a bad feeling that today wasn’t going to be his day—whenever he got that prickly sensation sneaking up on him, he could only guess just how… horrible the day was going to be. So when he found another Shiny Stone in the dirt not too deep in where he was digging, he could only let out a sigh—what was the matter with him? Why was he drawing blanks now? And for that matter, where’s all the luck gone to? He sighed to himself as he then hefted the shovel atop his other shoulder and grabbed his backpack, before abandoning the spot and deciding to go to another untouched area in order to be able to try his luck there. He could also guess that his Krookodile wasn’t having any luck so far, what with his non-appearance with something in his rather powerful jaws being a concern here.
“Oh well, what the hell, this one’s all or nothing!” he said to himself, finding another spot that was not too far away from where Hiekka was digging—but before he decided to attack this spot, he then stopped and took a short break for a while. Reaching into his bag and then finding that there was a bag of trail mix in it along with some water, he then decided to eat a few bites, not minding that his back was now directly facing the sun—he was going to burn up anyway, might as well take the full force of the heat! He then opened the bag of trail mix and then tipped it towards his mouth, catching a few things here and there before pitching up again and then munching on the mouthful he had—he could taste peanuts, and somewhere, there was chocolate in it, too. After munching on a few mouthfuls, and knocking back the mess with some water, he then dropped said bag of trail mix into his backpack and picked up his shovel again.
Come on, come on, come on… something good’s out there waiting for me… this is my last chance. Please be a fossil, or one of those marbles everyone’s going crazy over! Please! He thought, this desperate look in his eyes at this point—who knew if he was going to strike gold, or strike nothing as he continued digging in this new spot?

Kouji was now digging through the new area with much fervor…when he realized that he’d stumbled across something; and what was that something? A glinting light that came from the dirt confirmed his suspicions—maybe moving to this spot was a good tactic, after all! He then stood up and whistled loudly; hoping that his Krookodile could hear him even while underneath the ground; whereas his Gallade then approached him and began looking at him quite suspiciously—before its gaze shifted down and saw the same glittering thing half-buried and stuck with grit. “Look, Rymi! Look at this!” he said, quickly abandoning the shovel and then pushing the dirt aside with his own hands, brushing it off and then revealing, at last, the sparkling marble that he’d unearthed! How long has it been since I found one of these things? I only focused on finding Fossils, but looks like this is a nice surprise to get… he thought with a grin; before the sun was suddenly obscured—by the arrival of his Krookodile.
“Well, looks like today wasn’t a bad try after all,” he said, quickly brushing off all the grit from said marble, before turning it this way and that, observing it in the light of the sun. “It… the coloration doesn’t look familiar to me at all. I might as well hang on to it until someone’s interested in getting it,” he muttered to himself quickly searching his pockets and finding an old coin purse that was empty. He knew that it wasn’t the safest place to store it, but it would have to do in the meantime! “Come on, guys, let’s keep looking, shall we?” he said in the direction of the two ‘mons; who then nodded his way and followed their master deeper into the Badlands—on the lookout for more treasure; like the weird marble that he’d found just now, for starters. Either marbles or Fossils are fine with me! I don’t mind! He thought with this grin on his face as he then continued walking around the area, trying to look for a good spot to continue digging…
