digging time
447
Kouji had also decided to take a break from digging—but it was more on the reason that he was looking for a Professor who could help him with his little Dome Fossil finding. He had managed to find one, but had not yet successfully contacted them; so he decided to keep the contact information on-hand until the time came for him to revive the fossil that he’d found. Not bad, considering my first got me a lot of money, my second one gave me a piece of history. Wonder what I’ll get this time? He thought to himself as he saw that the line was even longer than the last time he was here! Looks like people are looking for something to take home… either dust or riches… he thought with a grin as he quickly slipped on his shades and fell in line, watching and waiting as it moved slowly along. Wondering what had set off a sudden influx in people heading out to the Badlands in the first place as he drew closer to the point where his things would be inspected, he then reached into his insulated backpack and pulled out a chilled bottle of water, drinking it as the line moved along.
Once he’d gotten to the entrance point of the Badlands, the first bottle of water was empty; and he gamely hefted his bag up onto the inspection table; and waited for a few moments as the guard on duty went through his things. After getting the go-ahead to proceed, he then slung said backpack onto his free shoulder (his other shoulder had the shovel slung across it) and then went into the excavation site; wondering what was waiting for him underneath all that dirt. I only have two more chances of getting rich left… better make it count! He thought to himself as he began searching for a “good spot” so that he could start digging. It had taken him the better part of ten minutes, but he finally found a quiet area; and then decided to take one of his ‘mons out for a spin as well so that they could cover twice the area. Watching as the beam of red light transformed into his Krookodile, Hiekka, he then grinned and began, “Well Hie, here goes nothing. Feel free to dig wherever you want; if you find something, let me know right away, okay?” he said before setting his backpack down and then proceeding to dig at the spot in front of him.
The Krookodile then went off into the distance and then began diving into the ground, using its own Dig technique in order to search as well.

still searchin'

Kouji could only wonder what his Krookodile was up to; he could feel the ground shifting ever-so-slightly from his position and knew that his Pokémon was digging quite close to where he was, so he decided to go digging just a bit further north from his current “position” but still keeping sight of his valuables. He then wiped the sweat off of his forehead as he began digging in this new area, but not seeing anything that was too shining, shimmering, or even splendid in this case. “Ugh, wonder what’s up with this heat,” he muttered to himself as he reached up and wiped the sweat that had built up on his forehead a second time—just five minutes after he’d already done so earlier. Knowing that it was time for a quick break, he then stuck the shovel into the ground and then whistled in the direction of the hole; and waited for his Krookodile to surface before proceeding to go on a short break. A few moments later, Hiekka emerged while holding something in its mouth. He could hear its muttering around the thing it was biting, and with a few gestures, spat out the thing in its mouth right into his hands.
Even if there was Krookodile drool all over it, he could feel it…humming in his hands, somehow. The shade of the stone he’d found just cemented the belief that he’d found a Moon Stone; and therefore knew that he couldn’t walk away with it—at least not yet; because Evolution Stones were readily available these days. “Nice job, Hie,” he began, petting the Krookodile on its snout, “…but this isn’t what we need. You can keep looking, just give me a moment, let me get you some snacks,” he continued, tossing the Moon Stone off to one side and then shuffling through his bag and finding the specially-marked bag of PokeTreats he’d packed along, before grabbing a couple and then holding it up for Hiekka to sniff. After a few seconds of inspection, he then watched with some amusement as the Krookodile seemingly sniffed everything right up his maw, and then gave it another pat on the snout. Once it had eaten its fill, he then said, “Alright, go searching again; if you find something just approach me, okay?”
With a nod, the Krookodile then went back to the hole it had dug and dove in again; whereas for Kouji he decided to kick back and take a break this time, going through his supplies and plucking out a thermos full of ice-cold water and drinking from it, while reaching for a sandwich that had been wrapped and then peeling it apart before beginning to munch on it. He did deserve a break, after all.
Dig Dig Dig . . . What's this?! Congratulations, You've found RELIC VASE ! A vase made in a civilization about 3,000 years ago. A maniac will buy it for a high price. ( Post a Mod Summons to exchange this for •20

still digging

Kouji had already settled down and watched as his Krookodile was diving in and out of the ground with renewed vigor; brought on by the snacks that it had received earlier. He then took another long drink from the thermos that he had with him, and then wondered what his partner would find, considering that the Krookodile was now the only one dogging and didn’t mind the heat. Ugh. This heat is absolutely horrible… he thought to himself as he then powered his way through the BLT sandwich he’d packed for the trip—the first of many sandwiches. After the sandwich had disappeared, he then proceeded to dig through his backpack in order to try to find the bottle of sunscreen again—the sun was bearing down hard on them today, and he could already feel the sting of the heat on his flesh. Ugh, better hurry, better hurry… he thought to himself as he then proceeded to open the bottle, drop a dollop on his hand, and then spread it all over his exposed arms and legs; along with his neck and face. Man, I think I need better sun screen… he continued as he applied another liberal amount all over, double-coating his body so that he didn’t suffer from sunburn—he knew how painful it was, no thanks to playing way too long in Vermillion when the day was particularly hot, back when he was still much younger and more carefree…
After he was satisfied with the layers of protection he’d applied, he then placed the bottle back in the backpack, and took another drink from his thermos. He had just screwed the cap back on when he saw that Hiekka was now in front of him—and was holding something in between its snout! “Huh? What the… oh, not the jar again,” he muttered to himself as he then pet his Krookodile’s snout. “You can get rid of that now, keep searching… that’s not what we’re looking for. Try in another area, I’ll do the same. If I whistle for you, come find me, okay?” he said, watching as the Krookodile then drew back, before letting the vase-like object fly from its mouth and disappeared into the dig site again. “Go, I’ll give you more treats later,” he said, and watched as the Desert Croc ‘mon then walked to a new spot and began diving in and out of the ground again. Might as well get digging myself, who knows what I would find… he thought to himself as he then picked up the shovel and then started to dig up another spot; hoping that his luck was slightly more better than his Krookodile’s!

endgame?!
409
Kouji had gotten back to digging, digging, digging—going through the motions while humming a few tunes of his own helped to stave off both the boredom and the terrible weather that he was experiencing now. He could hear the sound of splattering earth not too far away, a sign that his Krookodile was now having at it, tunneling the ground beneath his feet. If he made a miscalculation, he would wind up falling down into a hole, or a tunnel altogether, so he decided to dig a bit further, away from the burrowing noises he could pick up on—he could see from the corner of his eye that the Krookodile was diving in and out of the ground, bringing up a pile of dirt that was high enough to build a mud castle out of, given the proper situation and weather. Ugh, what’s with the bad luck… he thought to himself after a few armfuls of dirt and nothing, before coming to a stop with a sigh. What’s with all the duds now? He continued musing to himself, wondering why he kept on running into weird things.
He then decided to take a break, and watched from afar as the Krookodile kept on diving in and out of the ground, fully enjoying the next sandwich he was now devouring—he had the foresight to pack a lot of sandwiches and some water; his first thermos was now sufficiently empty and he was now getting started on the second one. He had already powered through half of the sandwich when he saw a shadow blocking the sun for him—he looked up and saw that his Krookodile had returned, and was holding something in his mouth—it looked like a crown with a pointy tip, something he recognized right away as a King’s Rock. “Oh, really?” he said, quickly holding the sandwich in one hand and then making a waving gesture with his other hand; to which the Krookodile then chucked it away, and then stared at him expectantly. “What? Oh… right, give me a moment,” he said, stuffing the sandwich into his mouth as he then began digging through the backpack and brought up another handful of Poketreats for the Krookodile to chow down on.
“Here, have at it, and then go back to searching, okay?” he said as the Krookodile sniffed everything in his hand up its maw, and then rushed off to go dirt-diving again.

woot, another fossil
332
Kouji had let the digging noise lull him into silence—and after sometime digging through the dirt; he heard an unusual “clunk” noise. Ooh, looks like I found something again… he thought to himself as he then abandoned the shovel, before kneeling down and then began scooping handful after handful of dirt out from the spot where he had heard the unusual noise. After a few minutes of silent scraping had passed—another fossil appeared, and he then slowly brushed it away; before grinning. “Heh, well, not bad, at least I get another fossil to add to my collection… at least I already have the Dome one for starters,” he said with a grin, before leaving the fossil where it lay and then straightening up, before giving a shrill whistle. At that sound, the Krookodile then re-emerged, before shaking its body clean of all the dirt and grit it had managed to get itself tangled in. “Hey, Hie. Look down there,” he began, pointing at the fossil that lay bare on the place where he was digging.
“Not bad, considering I already have a fossil. Let’s add another one to the collection. Don’t’ worry, we’ll be back tomorrow, okay? We need to get this documented though, so that we can figure out what this would turn into once we hatch it… and daresay that Varsi might have a partner sooner or later,” he added with a chuckle as the Krookodile simply stared at him, before he recalled the Desert Croc back into his Pokeball and then gently hefted the fossil up into his hands; before tucking it securely into his backpack, picking up the shovel, and then exiting the dig site. Well, not bad for another digging attempt. I can only wonder how the last attempt would be… tomorrow. Yeah I’ll come back early in the morning and then try my luck again… he thought, scheming up plans for the last dig attempt he had available to him for the next day!
