Izumi then decided to continue her series of “training” and therefore decided to look for another place where she could try her luck. She knew that her other “cohorts” still needed a bit more “beefing up” before actually charging out into the Kalos Gym circuit; so she decided to go ahead and look around for something that she—rather, her companions—could beat the living daylights out of. Wondering if it was possible to actually find something of interest, she then looked up at the terrain she was about to scale, before cracking a grin. “Well then, let’s get started on this escapade shall we?” she muttered to herself, rubbing her hands together and then beginning the trek up the perilous slope. She knew that she was dangerously close to the Pokémon League of the local area; however there weren’t any other people who wanted to stop her; simply because when they did, she’d give them the reason that “I’m going to train, please don’t have anything against me,” before heading out to where she was now.
She then decided to keep her ears trained for whatever noise would come clattering her way—because she knew that whatever was waiting out there was not going to be pretty—and it would definitely try to smack her upside the head with a few fallen boulders—or several. Gripping the ground with her new pair of mountain-climbing boots was easy; at least there was lesser chance of her falling over backwards and landing in a heap! Her exposed arms left to be desired though—she’d forgotten to pack the bottle of sunscreen with her and was now suffering from the harsh overhead effects of the great object that hung in the sky. Crap. Next time, always have the sunscreen with you… she thought to herself as she heard something clatter before hitting the ground—and she turned around in slow motion to see what it was…

The clattering of rocks from somewhere behind Izumi had caused her to look up and about; just wondering where it had come from—when she heard a “ringing” noise. Wondering what it was, she then plucked a random Pokeball and sent out its occupant, and watched as the flash of red light transformed into Ivan, the Pupitar. “Ooh, lucky,” she said to herself—as something that looked like an ornament that belonged to a shrine appeared in their midst. It then began causing an unearthly uproar, making as much noise as it possibly could, which caused her to clap her hands over her ears. Oh geez, it’s making so much noise… shut up… she thought, the high-pitched sounds driving her almost nuts. “Ivan. Mind shooting a Dark Pulse at it so it keeps quiet, please?” she managed to say a few moments later, and the pupa-like Pokemon then complied, first rolling over before opening its maw and gathering some foul energy just as the little Chingling released a wave of psychic energy; it was a Confusion attack!
“Go!” she shouted, watching as the beam of foul energy easily cleaved the Confusion attack in two; before smacking the little bell-like ornament full in the face. “Ouch,” she muttered to herself as the power of the Dark Pulse knocked it back—but it wanted to retaliate, so she could only shrug as it then fired off another attempt at a Confusion attack! Seeing that it was trying to take advantage of the Pupitar, she then continued, “Okay, Rock Slide around the thing, and let’s beat it!” while watching the blob of energy headed its way. the Pupitar then seemed to wiggle around on the ground before flopping over—it really was kind of embarrassing to see it—when a portal suddenly appeared over where the Chingling was, suddenly dropping a lot of rocks around it! Wondering why it was even floating in the first place, she then watched as it let out a shriek of surprise and tried to dodge the falling rocks—but eventually bumping into them as it vainly tried to get out of the trap. Not content with the damage she was causing, she then continued, “Okay, Dark Pulse one more time, and make sure it stays down!”
The Pupitar wiggled again; before straightening itself and then gathering another ball of foul energy from its mouth. it then roared; at the same time it did it released the Dark Pulse attack towards the struggling Chingling. Unable to fight back (since it was still trying to recover from the aftereffects of Rock Slide), it then took the attack full in the face and was blasted backwards; before disappearing from view. “Well, that’s that,” she said with a sigh, looking at the devastation that her Pupitar had caused. “You could try to be a bit more… gentle, but then again ‘gentle’ is not in your vocabulary…”she muttered to herself as she strode forward and stooped down to pick up the Pupitar—it really was embarrassing to watch it roll over and over whenever she walked forward. “Come on, let’s try again…”

Izumi, who was carrying Ivan in her arms (and struggling to do because he weighed like a ton—at least that’s her best guess, who knew Pupitar could be so darned heavy) continued to inch forward—keeping a look out on whatever would cross their path. At first, it sounded like another miniature landslide coming from somewhere not too far away was headed their way—manifesting as falling rocks on their left side—and she then steered clear of the area; the land was pretty unstable over there. As she continued forward, something then suddenly decided to bounce forward from its higher position on the out crag; achieving a two-point landing on all four “paws” before walking forward—it was something she was absolutely certain he had not seen before; well at least she was certain that it wasn’t from any of the other regions she’d visited so far. “Don’t tell me…” she trailed off, quickly squatting down and letting Ivan hop from her hands in order to get ready for battle; “…that you’re from this area?” she ended, looking at the rocky area around them.
Definitely something that I can give the Pretty Boy to mess around with, although… she thought in the back of her mind; as the Pupitar then lurched forward, intent on attacking it! “Whoa, whoa, Ivan, slow the hell down! Give me a moment to think… alright, have at it, go use Rock Slide, because I know you want to,” she said with a wave of her hand; secretly amused at the fact that her Pupitar was out for some blood. She then watched in amusement again as Ivan wiggled its body; before a portal suddenly opened above the cute goat-like thing (which she would eventually learn was called a Skiddo) and began unleashing its “payload” of attacks, raining down all around the Skiddo! It then let out a bleat of surprise; before jumping up and around the rocks—and then suddenly stamping down so hard, she felt the ground rumble! “Wait a second… this thing knows Earth—“ she trailed off, before realizing what attack it was; it was Bulldoze! The Pupitar’s center of balance was then thrown off as the ground underneath it shook—before it then swiftly held something in its mouth; what was it going to do?!
“Incoming! Dark Pulse it now!” she continued; watching as the Skiddo was holding something in its mouth; it looked like to be something that was very sharp—it was a Leaf Blade attack! The Pupitar then blasted the beam of foul energy right at the incoming Skiddo—and it didn’t appear to be fazed in the slightest; because it had swerved to one side and was now dangerously close to where Ivan was! “Earthquake! Make it fast!” she shouted; seeing the dangerously close proximity; and the Pupitar then hopped in place; before its stomp on the ground caused it to quake and rumble quite violently. “Whoa!” she shouted, trying to keep her balance—as the Skiddo was suddenly tossed off-center by the Earthquake; she then saw a chance! “Okay, Ivan, Chip Away again! Go!” she continued, watching as it then rolled forward before slamming its body into the surprised Skiddo, who had dropped the Leaf Blade it was holding in its mouth due to the sudden Earthquake attack.
The Skiddo was struggling to find a foothold as the Pupitar kept on slamming its heavy body into its own; it then attempted a Growth status change, because its whole body was suddenly surrounded in a soft glow—yet it still kept on hitting and slamming into the poor kid! Since it was at such close range, the Skiddo then attempted a Razor Leaf attack—and this was the only time it had managed to force the Pupitar back; however it was now staggering as it did so; before unleashing another Razor Leaf attack headed its way! “Earthquake!” she said from the sidelines, and the Pupitar hopped up and down before another rumbling shook the entire area; herself included! After this latest tremor, she then righted herself (after losing her balance0 and saw that the Skiddo was exhausted, and just about ready to flop over! “Not taking any chances! Ivan, Dark Pulse it now!” she said, drawing out a blank Pokeball as well for the ready; and the Pupitar then released another beam of foul energy fro its mouth, and the Skiddo took it full in the face; before finally flopping over!
“Checkmate,” she said, quickly tossing the Pokeball at the Skiddo, as the Pupitar then…rolled its way back to where she was, watching as the thing it had just beaten up was swallowed into the beam of red light…

After watching the Pokeball rock from side to side, Izumi then heard it “click”, signifying that the capture was a success! Now, what am I going to do with this little one I will never know, oh whatever, I’m sure I’ll find a use for it… she thought as she watched it vanish and then head on to the nether space that was known as her PC storage. She didn’t realize, however, that the next one would show up right behind them; actually announcing its presence via a Tackle attack that then caused Izumi to lose her balance—whatever it was had barreled straight into her, causing her to pitch forward and land in a heap on the ground! “Ouch! Stupid little... Ivan! Was that… wait, couldn’t have been you…” she muttered to herself as she then picked herself up and saw that there was a Geodude leering right in her face. Oh hell no… she thought to herself as it then proceeded to coat itself in mud, splattering her boots in the process! “Alright, that’s it, no more mister nice lady!” she shouted, walking over and hefting Ivan up in her arms in order for him to face the other way.
“You see that thing? Ivan, use your Earthquake on it, and make it fast…” she muttered, waving a hand at it; a sign that it was free to do anything crazy that it wanted to. She then felt the ground shake and tumble, causing her to very nearly lose her balance yet again yet she managed to steady herself as the Geodude then did charged forward, throwing its entire weight forward in a Tackle attack; before suddenly going off-balance as the Earthquake ripped through the area. “Alright, Dark Pulse it and let’s get out of here, we have bigger fish to fry!” she continued as the Geodude seemingly polished itself; before charging back again for another Tackle as the Pupitar then gathered foul energy in its maw before firing it off at the incoming Geodude that now had a boosted Speed stat thanks to Rock Polish! “Again!” she shouted, and the Pupitar complied, firing off a second ray of foul energy as the Geodude wasn’t fazed in the slightest. This one did blow it away; and she then whistled, before turning around and then walking in the direction where the Skiddo came from.
“Come on, Ivan, let’s go,” she continued, hearing the Geodude then crash against the rocks somewhere behind her; and continued moving forward… what else was waiting for them in this area?

The sound of clattering rocks drew her attention; and as one, both Trainer and Pupitar turned around to check where the said clattering was coming from. They were both surprised to see that there was a teddy bear that was just… gawking back at them! “Okay, who knew the cute ones were in this area…” she muttered to herself as she then motioned for Ivan to join her; and the Pupitar then did so—by rolling over and over until it had lurched to a stop right in front of her. “Well, should we take it out or just leave it alone?” she asked the Pupitar, to which it gave a grunt. Wondering what that meant, she then sighed before shrugging, “Oh, alright, let’s get this down and done with. We need to pick up the pace with the training. Ivan! Start off strong with a Dark Pulse!” she began, pointing forward at the cute, cuddly-looking teddy bear. I’m sorry if I have to beat you up! She thought as the Pupitar then opened its mouth, gathering a mass of foul energy that it was preparing to fire off. The Teddiursa, in its defense, began its “assault” by looking at the Pupitar with such a stare, it almost made the Pupitar hesitate for a split-second on attacking it! “Don’t get distracted by its wily charms, go get it before it starts doing something crazy!” she continued, and the Pupitar then proceeded to fire off the Dark Pulse; and it then scrambled as it saw the beam of foul energy pouring from its mouth!
Izumi didn’t miss a beat as she continued to issue orders, “Go on and Earthquake the area, catch it off its guard and set it up!” and watched as the Pupitar wiggled up and down a few times, before coming down with a loud crashing noise—and the ground them trembled as the Teddiursa was halfway towards the Pupitar; its claws bared out for a Slash attack! It then cried out of surprise because the Earthquake had caught it off-balance; and caused it to fall face-first on the quaking and trembling ground. A few moments later, the earlier-charged Dark Pulse then caught its form just as it was standing up, and it let out a howl of shock; before quickly charging forward again, hell-bent on defending its territory! “Oops, I think we set it off… go and bring the Rock Slide down on it now!” she continued, watching as the Pupitar then tried to wiggle its stubby limbs; before a rumbling noise announced that there was a portal that opened above the battlefield, suddenly raining down rocks around and all over the Teddiursa that was now crying out in surprise, being clobbered and batted around by the deluge of falling debris. “End it, Chip Away at the thing!” she continued, watching as the Pupitar then proceeded to roll over and over, going forward as it then dodged the last of the falling rocks, slamming itself over and over into the Teddiursa that was now screaming out of surprise; the battery of attacks would just not let up!
After watching the teddy bear take a beating, she then whistled; a sign that it would be fine to stop clobbering it. “Okay, Ivan. Ivan! Stop hitting it, it’s over! Let’s get out of here!” she continued, quickly plucking out his Pokeball and recalling the now-hyped up Pupitar; it was now ready to evolve and wreak some more havoc around the area!
