Since Izumi had been out of circulation for a while (let’s just say she went back home to Hoenn for a bit to bring home the bad news and rest for a while) she was now out and going again; this time headed back to the Safari Zone to chase down a certain Hoenn-native Dragon-type that had made its unceremonious appearance the last time she was here searching for a Larvitar for master Zerne. Now that this hunt was more on a personal scale, she then handed the ticket over and then got the ball back; she was travelling with a team in-progress, but making good time while she was at it. She knew she had to rely less on her mains, and more on the ones she was trying to build up, but hey she needed the practice at least! In this case she only had Sora and Draken with her; Draken having mysteriously evolved while she was training in the abandoned depths of Mt. Chimney near Lavaridge… once the check-over was done and through, she then set her sights on the mountainous region; and then quickly released Sora from his Pokeball; and she could tell he was antsy too. “Hey, Sora. You know what we’re lookin’ for this time, right?” she said, before giving him a quick explanation of what a Bagon looked like.
Giving a knowing squawk, she then watched as the Braviary spread its wings and then took off; before quickly receding and disappearing from her line of light. Seeing that this was going to be more of a training thing, she then decided to send out three more ‘mons, and one of them was Draken, the recently-evolved Gabite who was now an almighty Garchomp. “Hey Drake, can you take the rear guard for me? I have to train two of the new faces…” she said, releasing two more ‘mons; and watched as the red light coalesced and then transformed into something that looked like a levitating “seahorse” but had a slightly…purplish coloration; this was Myrkky, her Skrelp. Alongside it was a levitating sword, named Muromachi—a spawn of Yukiya’s and her master’s own Honedge. “Okay, you two… follow me and keep a look out for something…” she trailed off as she then set off towards the mountainous area, making sure to climb ever so carefully.

Up in the sky, the Braviary had caught sight of something moving through the undergrowth (thanks to the eagle eyes) but didn’t dve down and inform his mistress about it; probably because it was something she didn’t like seeing; and he could only shake his head in indignation and fly on further ahead in order to be able to scout for further signs of that Bagon that had decided to appear at the wrong time since the last time, she was looking for a Larvitar for someone else; but the dragon-types she wanted started appearing all of a sudden. Why was that so? The Braiary could only snort and let out an undignified squawk was it continued to soar far overhead. Back on the ground though, it was another story altogether… Izumi was starting to sigh; not because of the sweltering heat, but because of the fact that they hadn’t come across anything so far! “Come on, you have got to be kidding me…” she sighed to herself as she began shoving undergrowth aside; in order to let the Skrelp and Honedge get through without hurting themselves. She was about to kick a rock out of the way when she saw a sudden appearance of an appendage pointing ahead—apparently, Draken had spotted something; and was signaling for her to look at where he was pointed.
“Eh? Draken?” she said, looking backwards to the Garchomp, who was now huffing and then kept its appendage raised. She then followed his line of vision… and then, in that very moment, wanted to flip the entire universe over for screwing with her plans, for there was yet another Druddigon that had trundled across her path! “Really? Really?!” she shouted at the sky, flipping a finger at it again; and she was sure somewhere, that the gods of random encounters were trolling her again! “Oh well, time to get some exercise in…” she said to herself, watching as Draken lowered its appendage and then she took up her battle pose. “Come on, Myrk, Machi! Let’s go teach that Druddigon a lesson. On my signal!” she began, pointing forward,; and the two ‘mons snapped to attention; and then the Druddigon decided to go on the offensive; first appearing to sharpen its own claws; she could guess what it was since Sora, her Braviary, had that same status-increasing attack. “Machi, front and center; then use Iron Defense now! I know what it’s up to!” she began, and th Honedge levitated forward; before a shimmering light emerged from its body; the status-increasing move affected Honedge as well; and it now packed an increased defense… and then the Druddigon came in close for a Bite attack!
“Tch, Myrk, charge up with Acid Armor, then go on the offensive with Dragon Pulse!” she shouted, and watched as the Skrelp leapt into action; as the Bite attack collided with the Honedge’s surface; there was a pile of bubbling goo that appeared momentarily beneath the floating Skrelp; and then knew that at that moment its Defense stat also increased; and then it suddenly prepared an orb of draconic energy; levitating in front of its face; before firing it off just as the Druddigon made a move to dodge backwards and prepare its next attack! Said Dragon retaliated by preparing another draconic blast of energy and then aimed it… at the Skrelp. “Machi, counter that with a Shadow Sneak before it hits Myrk!” she continued, and watched as the shadows extended behind the Druddigon; and then the ‘mon seemingly teleported behind it (thanks to the shadow) and aimed a back attack at the Druddigon; causing the Dragon Rage attack to misfire and hit a rocky crag above them instead!
“Crap, incoming hazard!” she shouted backing away several steps as Draken rushed forward, knocking most of the falling rocks away in a defensive maneuver around Izumi; scattering them harmlessly around the battle area. “Okay, next up. Myrk, use Sludge Bomb on that Druddigon; and aim as best as you can! Machi, counter with a Night Slash attack, it’s coming in again!” she shouted as the Druddigon took another charge, fangs bared and aimed at the Honedge. There was a sudden expulsion of toxic energy coming from the Skrelp’s mouth; and it sailed towards the incoming Druddigon; and it got hit full-force; but that wasn’t the end of things yet; several slashes composed of dark energy then switrled around it, emanating from the Honedge; and the Druddigon was forced backward, falling over in the pool of noxious energy that the after-effects of the Sludge Bomb attack had made. “Come on, let’s go. Next target…” she muttered; watching from the corner of her eye as the Druddigon sauntered away; totally defeated…

The Braviary that was secretly tailing the band of ‘mons that were marching down on the ground suddenly gave an almighty screech; and back on the ground, that caused Izumi (and all the ‘mons with her) to look up; and she then knew that the screech was a sign that Sora had found the one that they were looking for! She then trained her eyes to the heavens, squinting against the rays of the sun as she saw a speck flying down; gaining size and speed the lower it came. Sooner or later, the Braviary was now hovering near her, and was now squawking quite excitedly, which meant only one thing: the Pokemon they were looking for had been sighted! As one, all assembled ‘mons (and their mistress) turned around right on cue as they heard the sound of scraping, then falling rocks; and sooner or later a bipedal creature that had a frill of white extending behind its head made its grand appearance; and for some reason Draken, her Garchomp, leered at it with this most “evil” grin on its face. As the Garchomp prepared to shuffle forward to beat this new challenger into a pulp, Izumi held her hand out, barring its progress forward. “Drake, let the new ones have a crack at ‘im. We’re going to show this one the meaning of unity,” she said, looking to the Skrelp and Honedge that were now looking quite apprehensively at the Bagon.
She then looked at the two, wondering which one she wanted to send into combat first; since originally she was planning to send them both into battle together; but there was something about Machi that threw her off—it was like he was more of a loner type; while Myrkky was more of the type that would work well with someone that could cause status changes… “Machi, go forward. Beat the living daylights out of the Bagon when you can. On my signal, get ready to fight, okay?” she said in the Honedge’s direction; watching as the Mock Kelp ‘mon decided to float back towards her; while the Sword ‘mon levitated forward. At this action, the little bipedal Bagon then took it as a challenge; and immediately went on the offensive! Hearing a hiss of anger coming from the Bagon, she knew that she would be definitely forced onto the defensive; and she was right—“Iron Defense now, Machi!” she shouted as the Bagon bared its fangs; and some sort of dark aura was emanating from them. The Sword ‘mon complied and its surface glimmered, as if burnished to the point that it had just emerged from a forge; and the Bagon’s Bite—or was it Crunch?—attack hammered against its surface.
She knew that the Steel-typing of Honedge could resist the super-effectiveness of the Dark-type biting attack; but imagine her surprise when the damage that her Honedge had sustained had just nullified the Iron Defense that it had performed a few moments before contact! She knew that this peculiar sword had no voice; when she heard the Sword ‘mon shriek out of surprise due to the impact of the biting attack it had just sustained she was almost scared out of her wits! She then clapped her hands to her ears for a moment, blotting out the scraping noise that sounded like a musical saw; and barked out the next set of orders, “Machi, counter with Night Slash before it does anything too drastic!”, since the Bagon had gone in for a contact attack, the Honedge retaliated by swinging its own blade; and a gathering of dark energy emanated from its own surface; before slashing and whizzing through the air; hitting the Bagon as it rounded up for another contact attack! This attack sent it backwards several paces; but she could already sense what was coming; for the Bagon was now gathering some sort of energy on its thick skull!
“Machi! Iron Defense again! Try to soften the damage of its next incoming attack!” she continued, watching as the Honedge stiffened the surface of its body, tying to make up for the difference in damage it had sustained from the earlier attack. At the very last second, the Bagon then unleashed a Zen Headbutt attack; why did she not recognize the shimmering pool of energy forming on its head?! “Machi! Dodge!” she shouted, pointing forward; and the levitating Sword ‘mon then made to “sidestep” the Zen Headbutt attack; and the condensed psychic energy hit the crag behind the assembled Trainer and ‘mons, therefore causing more rocks to be dislodged and tumble down! “Shield!” she shouted, and her Garchomp leapt into action, quickly batting its forearms that were now in the shape of claws around Izumi and the Skrelp, deflecting the debris so that it instead fell down harmlessly around them. “Thanks for the save Drake, keep alert,” she said to the Garchomp’s direction; and it nodded; before turning its attention back to the battle that was unfolding.
The Bagon was now gauging the distance between itself and the levitating sword; who was now awaiting further instruction from Izumi, when it suddenly bared its fangs again—and this time, a darker aura emanated from its fangs; before it suddenly took a running start and then leapt into the air; catching the Honedge by complete and total surprise! She didn’t have time to blink as the fangs took a loud biting sound and clanged across the hard metal; but even so, she knew that the Dark-type move would seriously hurt the Honedge at this point; since the part-Steel typing didn’t save it anymore… at least for now! “Machi, try to dodge tha—“ she began, but was abruptly cut off when the Bagon took a deep breath and then blasted draconic energy right on the Honedge’s face; propelling itself away from further retaliation! Damnit, that was a Dragonbreath—but at least it didn’t hurt as much as it should… or did it? She thought apprehensively as she looked at the swaying Honedge.
“Machi! Hang in there! Prepare a Sacred Sword attack if in case it comes in close again!” she shouted to the wavering sword; she noticed that its levitation was considerably lower compared to last time. The Honedge nodded; before watching the Bagon’s bared fangs have another enveloping of its dark aura; and then waited for the miniature Dragon-type to come in for its attack… and at the very last second, the Honedge then launched a blast of energy so primeval, it rippled the air around the area. The Bagon had caught the attack full in the face; and was blown back to its starting point; but at the moment the Honedge had unleashed its Sacred Sword attack, its levitating position fell even further; what was happening?! “Machi! What’s wrong?!” she shouted, stopping herself from rushing forward as this time, the Bagon prepared its Zen Headbutt attack in order to knock out the Honedge that had so unwisely stepped into its territory.
“Hon…edge. Honedge. Hon…EDGE!!!” she heard Machi grate out; and this coming from a sword felt so weird to her; and she watched as her Honedge tried to reassert itself; forcing itself to get up and awaited further orders! “Honedge!” she heard it grate out, snapping to attention—even if it already looked battered and bruised to the point of collapse. “Machi. Hang in there… try to shove aside the Zen Headbutt with Night Slash, then counter with Shadow Sneak! Now go, and do me proud!” she ended, pointing forward with this majestic air about her—and at that exact moment the Bagon did a forward thrusting motion; sending a gathering of psychic energy hurtling towards the faltering sword to counter this the Honedge unleashed a slash of dark energy; and watched as the two attacks collided, before exploding in a very destructive manner; the shock wave of which sent Izumi flat on the ground, and nearly blowing the Skrelp away as well! “Gah!” she screeched as her behind hit the rocky ground; catching the Skrelp before it was blown out of the area.
As the dust cleared; the Honedge had vanished—but her eyes looked down, and saw that there was a shadow trailing out to behind the Bagon—and then a few moments later, the battle-worn Sword ‘mon appeared delivering a surprise slashing attack towards its unsuspecting target! She heard the Bagon screech out of surprise as it toppled forward; and the shadow disappeared; but why on earth was the Bagon still standing?! Why hadn’t it folded down?! Ugh… it’s a pure-Dragon type! Should’ve known… she thought angrily to herself as the Bagon picked itself up; before looking to the opposite side of the battlefield to see that the Honedge was there, and was now on the verge of collapse. “Machi! Don’t give up! Never surrender! Fight… to win!” she shouted, managing to pull herself up with the Garchomp’s help, and as one, the entire crowd present went silent to see what was going to happen next—the Bagon charged forward again with another Crunch attack; and the Honedge braced itself for the inevitable… “Machi! Iron Defense first, then counter with Sacred Sword!” she shouted, hoping that her Honedge would weather out the damage at least one more time; because honestly, the Bagon wasn’t looking too tired yet!
As the Bagon’s fangs crunched hard against a surface of shiny metal, she knew that her Honedge had thrown up the Iron Defense in time; yet as the Honedge moved to release the Sacred Sword counter, the Bagon had taken another chance and chained yet another Crunch attack—and that was enough to send the Honedge sprawling to the rocky ground! Oh no. she thought as she shouted, “Machi! Get up! Get up, get up, GET UP!” her voice continued, rising so high the last part was practically a scream; because the Bagon had leapt back and was now ready to breathe one last Dragonbreath attack on it to beat the Honedge down and out. There was something funny happening with Machi, though; it was glowing with a faint light that suddenly became stronger—just as the Bagon was close enough to releasing the gathered draconic energy, the light suddenly burst out like a flash grenade, temporarily blinding everyone for a few seconds.
Ugh, sudden lights show… she thought as she closed her eyes and blinked them several times in order to erase the glare that burned into her eyeballs. Once shed blinked enough times, the light had faded… but Machi, her Honedge looked different now. Instead of just one sword, it had seemingly split off into two different blades; and the color of its cloth had changed from blue to pink; and there were two sheaths now as well instead of just the one. “Ma—Machi? Is that you?!” she exclaimed out of surprise to see the Honedge had… changed its form entirely; and was now two sentient swords thinking as one. Realizing that the loophole she was looking for had presented itself, she then cried out the next set of orders, “Machi! Shadow Sneak and then follow it up with Sacred Sword! Go!” she clamored, seeing that there was some mysterious work here. The Bagon never knew what was coming, either—for Machi, the now-Doublade had disappeared into the shadow that was now snaking toward the Bagon—and the Bagon didn’t know where its opponent had gone!
A few moments later, the Doublade emerged from the shadows and caught it with another surprise attack; before following it up with the unleashing of its primal energy; which then sent the very surprised Bagon toppling and then subsequently face planting on the ground; being hit in succession by two attacks from its blind spot. “Poor idiot never knew what hit him…” she snickered to herself as she then plucked out the Safari Ball and ten chucked it towards the fallen Bagon, and watching as it got swallowed up in a flash of red light; before it fell to the ground and began shaking. Would it resist? Would it come along willingly? Izumi then watched and waited for the outcome…

Izumi then watched as the Safari Ball continued to wiggle; but thankfully the shaking stopped; and then it dawned on her a few moments later that she had finally, finally acquired the Hoenn-native Dragon-type that was so fearsome and well-known (amongst Dragon tamers at least)! She then squealed and then jumped up and down for a few seconds; and then looked over to where Machi was now hovering, the twin-bladed wonder. “Heh, Machi, you did a good job,” she said, flashing the Doublade a thumbs-up and then picking up the fallen Safari Ball before it got whisked off to the nether space that was now known as her little army of Pokemon waiting to be called into service; a.k.a. her PC. “I know just exactly what to name you. Gabriel,” she said with a grin, tapping the Safari Ball as it vanished from sight. Seeing that their job was now done, she then plucked out several Pokeballs, recalling all of the present individuals; save Sora. She then grinned in the Braviary’s direction and then pointed to the sky; it knew what she wanted.
Shuffling around so that she alight on him, she then gave a gently tug on its feathery down, and then the Braviary took off into the sky, leaving the Safari Zone behind. Now that she had the Bagon she had been looking for at last, she then proceeded to make plans on whatever else she needed to do in order to start building up another “team” of strong, yet loyal and proud warriors.
