It wasn't a hard decision to make when Danny wanted to travel to Orre. For starters, his step-sister happened to be in the area, making it incredibly convenient. Secondly, the hustle of the new crowd in an area that was still adapting to the flow appealed to him. A little conflict sounded interesting, although looking at Phenac City, he probably wasn't going to get any of that over here. Not that he minded--after being on the road for so long, settling down in a place like this sounded pretty nice. The water fountains were absolutely gorgeous; the soft marble stone gave the area a clean sensation, washing away his worries.
It was awfully cold out for an early Spring day, at least in Danny's eyes. 65*F was what he expected in the early Winter back in Mossdeep, yet Phenac City had the gall to consider this 'warm'. Peh. His slender hands were stuck in his pockets as he waited for the afternoon sun to fully come about, spreading its comforting rays to shine some relief on his prolonged suffering. He wasn't too sure what he felt like doing just yet, choosing to sit beside the water fountain in the meantime, hardly fearing falling in when his laptop had the brilliant warranty that it did. It was tucked away in his bag, as always, but its safety was a vague thought in the back of his mind.
While his mind wandered, his eyes made its way through the gentle stream of people that bothered to walk around him. Some looked like they had important things to do, while others looked about as new as he was around these parts. The city had a particular vibe that made it hard to blend in if you weren't a native, but he was never one for blending in in the first place anyways.
"Ah...this is too peaceful for it's own good." He yawned, leaning back as a sore itch begged to be cracked in his back. The movement brought relief that was quickly switched to terror when he realized that he couldn't make his body defy gravity. No, he couldn't let gravity win! Frantically pretending to swim in the air, he wiggled his arms in a way to force himself back up, eventually straightening his posture out without a single drop of water on his body.
He'd like to thank all of the pretty ladies out there, the pretty men, the pretty ladies and men, and of course, his own ego for being able to survive this moment on this fine day. Thank you, thank you all for your wondrous support.

Arietta was on the road. A beautiful and honestly perfect girl like her just had to get out sometimes, and she had set her sights on seeing a little bit of a few regions. In fact, Orre was the last stop of her little trip outside Kalos. She was taking a good look of it, taking in a deep breath of the fresh air touched by all the water in the area, learning a little bit about how the people lived around here, you know.. all the things tourists did.
There was something bothering her though, and she knew what it was. It might be fashionable to play the tourist and she enjoyed being fashionable any time she was able, but it was leaving her with a desire to.. well.. get herself a little dirty.
Not in the literal sense no, if she could she would like to avoid getting actually dirty. She just was feeling restless. She preferred the tourist way of seeing the world but she could understand why those that called themselves Trainers liked to see the world in the journey's they took. She might honestly still yet do the same, but she wasn't sure that it was the right way to go about her own journey. She had not yet met a trainer that agreed with the way she saw her Pokemon, so she didn't know if she should just raise her Pokemon their way too. Still.. she might have to, if it came with the recognition that proving she could do it their way best would bring. Oh and she would, she had to believe that.
So here she was, craving a battle. She needed to test her skills against another person and prove her resolve.. not just to the person she was battling but herself. So since she had arrived she had been seeking that out. It was hard though.. people weren't quite the easiest to approach. She was actually standing out in the middle of nowhere a tad confused, literally scratching her head and she scanned around looking for a Pokemon Trainer.
That was when she noticed the older guy. There was just something about the way he was just.. there. He was acting like a weirdo for one, and she as just openly glaring at him. Not an angry one, but a rather intense one of observation all the same. Arietta just didn't feel like a guy who lived here but at the same time didn't feel like the same type of tourist that she was, here to take pictures for her scrapbooks. She felt her a bubble of excitement in her chest, despite her normal displeasure when faced with the prospect of having to interact with other people. This was it. She knew she was going to get her battle.
So not so subtly stomping forward she approached him. It actually almost looked like she was charging him, especially when she only stopped a few feet from where he was relaxing. "Hey there cold looking wierdo. You are one of those Pokemon Trainers right?"

As he was recovering from a game of heart jump rope, out of the corner of his eye, he noticed that someone was walking awfully close to him. Glancing up for the person's intentions, he was even more confused when she was looking right at him as she walked towards him. Was this the glorious day when a cute girl hit on him? Now that was going in the records. Within seconds, his mind was judging every aspect about her. She looked cute; a bit too young for him personally, but if she had her eyes on him, then that was still awfully flattering. Ah, to be young was to be great. Then she had to go and open that mouth of hers.
"C-Cold looking weirdo?" Le gasp, his hand clutched tightly to his chest, he could feel his hopes shatter like glass. Forget the Pokemon Trainer part; this was clearly more important to his ego at the time being. "What do you mean by that? Is it the dark clothes? Do I look too punk? I'm not a deviant, I promise." He whined, standing up to properly defend himself from the girl's critique.
"I am a trainer though...why?" He paused, trying to think of how that was relevant to anything. A few seconds went by, like click click click, then ding! Idea. "Oh! Don't tell me you're trying to trash talk to pick a fight. You're too cute for that to work, you know?" Though if he had to be honest, he enjoyed it when girls were assertive like that, so it wasn't as if it was the worst thing ever.

It was not the response Arietta was expecting.
This was not how people normally responded to her at all!
Her hostility and immature little rage would almost always be responded with immediate hostility and matching rage. People did not have time to deal with a little brat's eternally whining attitude. Of course this is not exactly how Arietta saw it herself but she still always expected people not to understand her and immediately hate her. She would always feel ashamed of herself being immediately hostile right away but that was after they were already mean. However this guy.. he called her.. he called her..
"C-C-Cute!?" she squealed, her face turning a deep red.. she even placed her hands against her cheeks as if the action would contain the blush in some way. She caught his glance and had trouble holding it.. a rare thing sight from the young lady but this man would have no way of knowing this. She had to settle down.. she was acting so weird now and he was looking right at her! Right at her! It did not help that her normal guilt for being a brat was bubbling up within her too. It also did not help that he was kind of right, she had a cutesy sounding voice that sounded just annoying trying to sound harsh and trash-talking.
She did her best to stop acting so embarrassed and stand up straight, looking him right in the eye again.. but it was obvious she had been thrown off her guard. Throwing people off their guard and getting a reaction out of people was supposed to be her job! How could she just let a single compliment affect her like this? "S-S-Sorry.. I just.. wanted to battle yes.." she said, unable to take the fact that he was staring at her acting like this. She was staring at the ground again, shyly peeking up at him.
Did.. he really think she was cute?
You don't know them like I do
I didn't expect someone to throw Arietta off guard so fast.. congrats.

Although Danny had a grasp on the arts of flattery, he had no idea that a simple comment could cause such a reaction in the young girl. It was almost as if she was never complimented by a person in her entire life! That was both ridiculous and a shame, at least in his eyes. 'This is why people need to be more open to each other', he hypocritically thought with a snort. Indeed, she was pretty adorable, but he was thinking more in the sense of a tiny Poochyena. Some part of his brain was tense with anticipation, warning him not to lead on a young girl in fear of clinging mental matrimony, but another part of him wanted to shrug it off. It couldn't be a big deal, right? So he surprised her--big whoop. Didn't mean anything, even though once again, it was adorable. "Aw, you're even blushing." He snickered in amusement at how she tried to hide such a vivid blush. "They say that the people who blush are the most trustworthy, so you can't be that bad." Even if she did call him a cold looking weirdo, he was starting to get the impression that she didn't mean it.
Once his question was answered, it all made sense. "You're in luck, because my team's in pretty good shape right now. Hope you don't mind fighting a newbie like me though. I only have three Pokemon, so that's my limit." He paused, wondering how they were going to set up the rules for the battle. What kind of rules did trainers usually set up? He tried to recall what little he picked up on from TV shows and movies, and at the most, it told him to pick either a Single or a Double Battle. Double Battles used to be pretty popular in Orre, from what his guidebook said, but they seemed complicated, and there was too much to keep track of. Maybe that was something to try out when he had a bit more practice with his team, he reasoned.
"I'm feeling a single battle; how 'bout it?" Hopefully getting distracted by a Pokemon battle would be enough to calm Arietta down, because he was starting to feel bad for embarrassing her like this. "I'm Danny, by the way." Mm, the generic introduction. He was tempted to mix some of his dramatic flair into it, but if they were going to battle, he figured he might as well keep things simple. His Pokemon's well-being were on the line if he wasn't careful, so he made a note to avoid getting too carried away.

..
They say that the people who blush are the most trustworthy, so you can't be that bad
.. so you can't be that bad.
..THAT bad.
It was a confusing sentence for Arietta to process, with obvious focus on the one part of it that made her feel defensive. She wasn't ANY bad and she didn't like being thought of otherwise. However she wasn't quite sure how to respond to it all once he finished everything he was going to stay. She sort of just started at him with a somewhat confused look on her face, her blush from before still evident but dying down. He obviously was trying to be nice but.. now all of a sudden she was suspecting his motives.
He had introduced himself in a kind and friendly manner. He had called her cute. He had tried to call her trustworthy. It was obvious he was trying to be a friendly guy. However she couldn't let that one part go. Her mind was trying to warp around it every second that she had to spare before responding to him. So apparently despite it all, she was still a little bad? What the hell? This guy was already somewhat of a mystery to her.. and she was worried that trying to figure him out would only lead to more frustration.
Still.. he seemed to think she was cute. The thought sort of made her heart beat a little quick. It really felt nice. Was that the only reason he was being nice though? Did he think her personality was bad?
So she decided she had to try to play it with a laugh. She could totally be cool. Yeah. "I'm Arietta.. and I suppose you can't be too much of a weirdo. I mean, you obvious have good taste." she giggled, giving him a honestly big smile while complimenting.. herself. She also returned his jab, because that was only fair.. right?
Quickly feeling embarrassed about it though she continued.. "I only have two, and I'm beginner too. So a single battle the way you described is fine. Perfect really, so feel free to use all three Pokemon if you would like." she said. There was something very confident about the way she said it and the grin on her face only amplified it. She stood with pride and even pulled out her Poke Ball already. She could swear the metal orb always felt cold to the touch and gave her a feeling of anticipation. She hated putting her Pokemon in these things, and got excited when she knew she could bring them out.
Releasing her Pokemon from it's carrying device, a Misdreavus was exposed from the Poke Ball. The moment it came out it already seemed really amused, almost looking as if it was giggling with delight. Perhaps it was pretty excited to be free too.. and Arietta's mood seem to perk up too. Her Pokemon had an visible effect on her mood. "You can even get a idea of what I have, I'm so nice aren't I?" she giggled after saying this. Yeah.. there definitely was something about her Pokemon that effected her mood. She almost sounded like she was trying to emulate the way Misdreavus giggled.

Oblivious to Arietta's minor despair at his vague comment, Danny felt awfully proud of himself for giving the blushing stranger a chance to play it cool. Gosh golly mell, it sure felt awfully swell to be a decent guy in this day and age. "I've been called worse than a minor weirdo, mostly by my sister, but I'll take it." If Danny knew what Arietta was thinking, he certainly would've tried correcting himself immediately in order to dance around her finer graces. "Arietta is a nice name--I don't hear that one much. But Danny? So many people are called that, I never know if they're trying to talk to me." He chuckled, finding that saying her name out loud made it easier to remember. It was a little trick his father drilled into him for the sake of acting polite in front of important company; say the person's name as much as you can in conversation, and if the name became familiar to the ears, the brain was likely to remember it.
"Use all three Pokemon? Are you kidding? Beating you with numbers hardly feels fair, unless you're really that confident." He had his doubts at this point; maybe she was trying to motivate him into fighting in her own way, but he just couldn't be sure. His confusion was broken through at the sight of a Pokeball in Arietta's hand, and soon he was left feeling wonder and intrigue at what could possibly be inside such a thing. She said she was a beginner, but somehow he was hoping there would be something super cool inside of it. Maybe she owned a bunch of dinosaurs! Or maybe even aliens! Of course there were alien Pokemon, he reasoned, seeing how his hometown of Mossdeep had the Space Center plopped in the corner. He probably knew more about space than what his blank expression implied, but his hopes were on aliens. Once the capsule opened up, a strange, wispy shadow hovered around Arietta, taking on a 3-D shape that shadows weren't supposed to have.
He had no idea how the girl usually acted, but it was nice to see her perk up around a familiar face. "I don't think I've ever seen a ghost type up close before. Can you touch it without your hand going through?" It was an innocent enough question, and he honestly had no idea how ghost types worked. In fact, Danny was tempted to run right over and wave his hands right through the Misdreavus' face, but thankfully he had enough self-control to not do the thing. "Ah, I still need to send someone out!" He fished through his front pockets for whatever lumpy objects he could find, and once he was armed with his Pokeballs, he was left with the decision of actually picking one of them. The easiest to battle with was his Wingull, but if this was a two versus two match, he was going to have to use one of the pains in his backsides. Bleh, he wasn't looking forward to that. "Ok, Lair. If you do this battle, I'll give you two treats." Enlarging the Pokeball in his lucky right hand, he snapped open the Pokeball with a grin, and out flew his ever so jolly Wingull.
The Wingull looked on at Arietta and her Misdreavus with a curious stare, but his thoughts were already drifting away towards the promise of treats. Delicious, savory treats. Maybe he could even force Danny to give him some now for the 'proper motivation', but he didn't want to end up being an easy target for the ghost type's assault. "Whenever you're ready, Arietta." With a gulp, Danny tried to endure the thrill of his newbie nerves the best he could. It was rare whenever he had the chance to battle other trainers, and his lack of experience was currently shouting that this was going to be incredibly humiliating.
Well, at least if he did manage to embarrass himself, he could always learn to laugh at it.

There was something odd about this guy for sure. Arietta couldn't help but smile at his antics but she still didn't respond all that much to him. Sure, he was being adorable but she just didn't have much to say. That actually might be good though, the responses she tend to gave were never usually that good. Maybe it was an act of kindness in way, keeping her mouth shut. She just wasn't sure what to say when she wanted to be nice.. it wasn't something she usually was able to do. "Alright Danny, I'm as ready as I can be. You'll see what Ghost Pokemon can do soon!"
Arietta loved to practice opening moves. It was one of her favorite things to do with her Pokemon. Maybe because she always cared so much about making a strong start. With giving people the impression she wasn't someone to mess around with.
There was some problems with that. Opening moves were fun to practice but what did you do when they were done? Even though she didn't have to vocalize what she wanted her Misdreavus to start with.. wouldn't that mean she would become predictable? Since you could only plan out a few of these kind moves and use them before someone might be able to plan accordingly and turn your advantage into a disadvantage.
Still, at that this moment it was handy. It had that single use before she would have to slip into a more usual way of fighting for a newbie. She had been ready for this moment for so long, practicing how this first moment ago.. she was just finally doing it. She wasn't standing still. "Let's give them the usual!" she cried out. A sound of recognition from her Pokemon, followed by a short giggle, and then a couple spooky fireballs seemed to surround her Pokemon. Misdreavus quickly charged it's Will-O-Wisp attack and sent it flying. It wouldn't stick around very long after it sent the burning flames at Wingull's way however, and would attempt to sneak behind the bird and use it's signature Astonish on it, spooking it with it's trademark cry that sent shivers down Pokemon's spines.
There was just something about it.. it made Arietta feel alive though. She loved hearing it.
You don't know them like I do

Arietta's commands rocketed his brain, and Danny tensed as if the assault was meant for him. The Misdreavus displayed wonderful control over several blue flames, all while acting as a puppeteer for her newborn creations. Larry's fascination was sparked immediately, finding life and personality in each fluid flame. While Danny wasn't nearly as entertained by a few flames, it was still enough of a distraction to mask a little sneak attack. His eyes barely managed to grasp onto the ghost's wispy form, and he could've lied to himself and blamed it on imagination, but he was awfully jumpy for his first trainer battle. It was one thing to wrangle some wildlife, but the support and cunning of a trainer made battles that much more complicated, and he was still picking up the rules. "Head in the game, Lair. They're behind you!" Swinging his arm across like a sideways exclamation point, he winced when the Will-o-Wisp bathe his bird in a blue blaze. Lovely white feathers adorned singed tips, effectively marking the Wingull as prey. Larry could only squawk in alarm as the Misdreavus let out a cry that could wake up the dead.
"Rinse it off, Larry. Rain Dance and Agility." Not feeling too concerned with attacking right away, setting up and dealing with the Will-o-Wisp seemed like the way to go. Status ailments were annoying, and while initially Will-o-Wisp looked like a regular attack, Larry's occasional winces hinted otherwise. It was fair to say that Danny didn't understand much about how attacks interacted with one another, but his logic wasn't entirely unreasonable. Burns on humans had to be treated with cold water and ice, so Larry would at least feel more comfortable if the rain soothed his wounds. Wings were roughly shoved against his ears to block out the Misdreavus' cry, but to Larry's dismay, every slight movement was enough to irritate his burned joints. It was a good thing Danny sounded hopeful, otherwise he would've doubted his trainer's plan.
Directing his wings towards the sky, smooth wings began to conduct several clouds into formation. The more he swirled his wings around, the more each fluffy cloud became filled with water. One by one, each cloud sagged deeper and deeper with water, until they finally burst with a misty rain. Feeling at ease with water soaked feathers, the Wingull happily zipped around the Misdreavus, attempting to startle her with his spectacular speed and wit.
Post by Arietta Connally on Jun 5, 2014 22:55:26 GMT -5
Arietta felt a surge of excitement when the attacks landed. Misdreavus seemed pretty enthusiastic about it too.. and they both mirrored each other for a moment. They both giggled mischievously and then gave intense looks. Mirroring her Pokemon was something Arietta did all the time, but at this moment it was a little more pronounced then the others.
Why was he holding back though? What was with the rain too? She pouted as the water droplets starting to make her hair wet, and Misdreavus seemed to share the sentiment. Did he think she was going to walk into a trap? That didn't sound altogether something that she couldn't believe. She already questioned his motives, perhaps he was a super sneaky sort of person full of deception. This made her a little guarded, but she knew she couldn't help but take this opportunity to strike.
"Attack with your signature move!" she called out. Misdreavus didn't waste any time, and forming from it's mouth was the Ghost signature Shadow Ball. It spit out quickly once the ball shaped object formed, Misdreavus looked like it was trying it's hardest to predict where it would move next. Arietta would be the first to admit though, there was a good chance it would miss thanks to it's now enhanced movements. Misdreavus stayed in spot, not moving for the time being. Still, if it would force the Wingull to attack it would do it's job. If it wanted to stand around dodging all day, it would get hit enough eventually too.
You don't know them like I do
Misdreavus is a bit frazzled with trying to keep up with Wingull, but after trying to get an idea of it's patterns it sends out a powerful Shadow Ball.
Post by Danny Kazuki on Jun 6, 2014 1:28:35 GMT -5
'Signature move? Geez, that could be anything.' It was times like these where he was glad that he took a conservative battling style, giving him the chance he needed to figure out what was what before reacting accordingly. It just so happened that the ghost type's signature move was something he was familiar with, seeing variations of the attack in the popular manga, Pokeball Z. Energy moves like that were pretty popular in action shows too, so he figured that it wasn't something that was simply used for appearances. "Larry, shove it back with wind." If Arietta was going to be vague about her moves, he could be vague too. Then again, she could probably figure out what was going to happen based on the word 'wind', but she didn't know how powerful Larry was. His Wingull was pretty terrible at taking hits, but he sure could make them when he was properly motivated.
Larry didn't have a large move set to begin with, so it didn't take much thinking to figure out what Danny meant by that command. When the Shadow Ball was catapulted towards him, he stopped in his tracks to boldly strike up his wings, furiously slamming them down to kick up one hell of a storm. The attack's accuracy became even more intense thanks to the rain, heightening his control over the gale's fury as it overpowered the Shadow Ball, tossing it harmlessly to the side. Ideally, it would've been great if the Shadow Ball was slammed back into the Misdreavus, but the Hurricane dissected the danger out of the ghostly sphere by cutting it into confetti. Oh well, they always had more chances to do damage to their pretty friend. "Keep your distance and attack with Hurricane, Larry." Giving the Wingull safety in speed and distance seemed like his best option at this point, though it sucked that the Misdreavus had a long-distance attack like Shadow Ball handy. His options were limited though, and he had to make do with the moves Larry had.
The rain eased the pressure on Larry's burns, but damage continued to stack up over time, making him easier to knock out the longer he stalled. It wasn't the best situation, but Larry stayed optimistic as his wings kicked up another Hurricane, only this time it had a live target. Crossing his fingers for the rare chance of confusion, Danny's fingers twitched behind his back with anticipation. Maybe he should've had Larry use another attack on that turn, but he didn't want to overwork his friend this early in the battle. Hm, on second thought..."Uh, hang on. Larry, back up the Hurricane with a Pursuit." Didn't burns weaken physical attacks? He was hoping that the super effective damage would make up for that, but it wasn't likely. Larry shot Danny a look, feeling uneasy with Danny's lack of conviction. He was under the impression that it was the Misdreavus' turn now, but maybe they could squeeze another move in. Knowing that he had the speed to back up the last second attack, Larry trailed behind his vicious winds with a malicious caw, aiming a punishing peck at the ghost in case she tried to escape.
Uses Hurricane to shove away Shadow Ball! Uses Hurricane to attack Misdreavus! (Shouldn't miss in rain, 30% chance of confusion) Uses Pursuit!
tag: angel ▪ words: 000 ▪ ooc: Holy crap, the damage calc says shadow ball would do 84%-99%. and lmao this is barely gonna dent misdreavus. the bulk is too real.

Arietta was legitimately surprised when Hurricane reared it's ugly head. Misdreavus could do nothing to really avoid the attack, and took the massive winds head on. Arietta even felt the force of the winds and rain, and shivered as she held herself together as if worried her clothes would blow off. She managed to do that well enough, everything was pretty much in one piece, although her hair was seeing better days very quickly.
She had started to get worried though. What if the Wingull just kept it's distance and kept spamming that attack? With the rain the way it was, would any of her attacks land? She knew she had an attack that could disable others, but as long as he always followed it up with like.. Agility it would be hard to get to disable correctly. Plus he would get even faster. Misdreavus could only take a few of these before she would lose. She started to legitimately worry about her Pokemon.. how could she manage to close the gap with winds like that?
Then.. the Wingull started to rush Misdreavus itself..
"Misdreavus just take the hit so you can fire a close range Shadow Ball!" she squealed, her vagueness disappearing in the face of the desperation of the moment. The Wingull was fast, and the gap would be moved very quickly. She had only just said in time for Misdreavus to possibly charge the attack in time, hoping that the momentum that Wingull carried would cause even an attempted break away to hit. If she didn't hit with this move, she might have to take her chances with Mawile in hopes that Misdreavus was better suited to deal with Danny's other Pokemon despite how weak she was already ..although she even wasn't quite sure what Mawile would do against such winds.
She wasn't going to lose to one attack was she? Should she have disable his ability to cause the rain when she had the chance? So frustrating..
You don't know them like I do
Roll 80 in RNG as check to see if confused, confusion failed. [1-30]
Misdreavus uses Shadow Ball while sitting down and taking the Pursuit, hoping the close range peck makes the Shadow Ball too hard to dodge.
(40% isn't bad! Arietta just cheats and has really buff starters.)
Post by Danny Kazuki on Jun 6, 2014 17:21:05 GMT -5
Nibbling away at his bottom lip, Danny was quick to realize the error in his last second action. The Pursuit made his Wingull vulnerable enough to be an easy target, regardless of speed, giving Arietta the opening she needed. Larry was loyal enough to Danny to follow through with his orders, but after the Pursuit hit its target, the Shadow Ball was strong enough to shoot Larry straight into the ground. His wings flopped against his body as he skidded across the ground, friction irritating his burns even further until he came to a complete stop. "...she's that strong?" Danny whistled, shaking his head for underestimating the ghost type's strength. Poor Larry did what he could, but he wasn't exactly well-equipped for this kind of matchup. "Sheesh, that's one heck of an attack you have there. And attacking ghosts isn't exactly easy." If his memory was telling the truth, then his Pinsir had no way of doing damage to ghost types. As much as he despised his lack of options, he had a plan. Recalling Larry back into his Pokeball for a brief rest, he slipped the capsule back onto his belt. Thank goodness his Pokeballs were always organized, otherwise they'd be too easy to mix up. "Help clean things up, Aph. I'm depending on you." Flicking his wrist as if he was throwing a frisbee, a new Pokeball spiraled onto the field, popping open the moment the button kissed the ground.
"Emo emol." An energetic Emolga jumped into the air, grinning at the soft mist that tickled her chin. Not everyone appreciated rainshowers, but Aph absolutely adored them. She liked the way puddles settled on the ground, waiting to be jumped in, she enjoyed how easily the mud came off if you sat in the rain, and who needed baths when you could just play in the rain? It was glorious. "Start off with Taunt and Light Screen. We're not gonna let you burn us this time." He was still debating what offensive move to use, but these two attacks were necessary. Shadow Ball took out Larry while he was at decent health, and he wasn't taking chances with his precious Emolga. Curious as to who she was fighting, the Emolga had to look around a few times until the Misdreavus came into view. Goodness! That ghost was hard to spot in the rain, she had to admit. <'Bet you can't haunt me, miss. Or should I call you ma'am? You seem old enough to be called that, tee hee.'> Sticking out her tongue, she turned around and taunted the Misdreavus with wag of her tail. As she glided through the rain, her cheeks puffed up with electricity, something that had to be stored up and gathered over time if she wanted to use her strongest attacks. Even if Light Screen didn't do damage, it was a strong enough shield to cover her teammates, even if she passed out. Once she was all charged up, she let out a high-pitched squeal, summoning a thin wall of electricity that acted as a filter for special attacks.
The fun part was that it would hover around her, no matter where she glided. Once Aph was all set up, Danny had enough time to pick out his last move. He couldn't guarantee that Shock Wave was strong enough to knock out a Misdreavus, so Nuzzle seemed to be his safest option. "Head back in there and give our new friend a quick Nuzzle. Heh, of course if I was the one doing the nuzzling, you'd only be stunned from adoration." He could only ramble at this point, feeling as if the battle was lacking some much needed conversation between attacks. At least when the little guys weren't running around as much, exchanging a few words couldn't hurt. Compliant and always willing to share hugs, Aph nimbly closed up the gap between her and her foe, grinning all the while as her rain soaked paws attempted to force a surprise cuddle on the ghost. Filled with nothing but affection and an intense urge to strangle with love, she nuzzled away.

Arietta's first instinct was of course excitement and relief. Her last ditch effort strategy had worked and she got to watch her efforts be rewarded. Wingull was quickly overwhelmed by them.. and she couldn't help but feel giddy. "Yes! We did it Misdreavus! We won our very first exchange!" her expression softened it made her look even more youthful then she would like to admit to herself. She and her Misdreavus enjoyed the moment, although the mischievous ghost looked as if taking those attacks head on had indeed been quite a lot for her.
"You better step it up, I think." she said, smirking a little and holding back another playful giggle of her own. She said this right before the Emolga came out, and she got a look at her next opponent. She was a little unsure about it, to be honest. Part of it was cute and almost looked like the type of Pokemon she would totally raise herself. There was something.. about it though.
Her Misdreavus however KNEW it didn't like the Pokemon. The generally playful Pokemon suddenly got extremely flustered with the actions of the Emolga. It stared right back at her and said, <How rude! Teasing is a art that you haven't mastered, your words do not tickle but stab. Boo Boo..> Misdreavus was always a bit dramatic though, and some if it's words were play too.
Arietta noticed the exchange and was not sure even further. This Emogla was confusing, there was something.. threatening about it. Even as a human she felt a bit of rivalry from it. She would have to decide her feelings about it at a more opportune time though.
She watched it set up a Light Screen.. a defensive move obviously from the way it formed but she blushed when she realized she wasn't quite sure how the defensive move worked. What did it block? Did it send attacks back? It caused her to hesitate, to think over her moves for a bit as she tried to come up with the answer.. allowing it to pull it off without Arietta or Misdeavus even attempting to stop it.
It was still shimmering around the Pokemon when it came forward. What was it doing? What kinda move was Nuzzle? "Misdreavus, be ready to retaliate with another Shadow Ball!" she said, waiting for it's attack to move it close range again before attempting it. However this "take the hit" strategy was less useful in this situation, because once the Nuzzle hit Misdreavus was.. completely stunned. Those powerful cheek pouches just made her beautiful Pokemon frozen in it's place.. its' eyes wide with.. shock. "I... feel your Pokemon's Nuzzle is more effective." she said, looking a bit embarrassed. Now it was her turn to have made the mistakes.
You don't know them like I do
Paralyzed, Rolled a 5 for check for complete paralysis, which succeeded. [1-20]
Misdreavus doesn't do much this turn, due to the paralysis suffered.

"Hmpth. I'm not giving you an easy win just because you have a pretty face. No way." It was only fair to the Pokemon that were putting effort in this match, and he wasn't ready to let them down. Losing would probably sting, but que sera sera. This was an entirely experimental match against another trainer anyways, so he wasn't about to let his crew feel as if this was the end of the world. "Aph isn't a pushover anyways. Isn't that right?" As if to confirm his thoughts, the Emolga chirped energetically as she flashed him a thumbs up, like hell yeah she wasn't a pushover. She was a team player, and she wasn't going to let anyone down!
Once their turn was over, it looked as if they had some good results this time around. The Misdreavus at least appeared to be taunted, if her offended tone was any indicator, and Aph had the comfort of a Light Screen to keep her warm and cozy. It was a fairly comfortable position, though she wasn't in the mood to be taking Shadow Balls anytime soon. Thankfully, the Misdreavus found herself stuck from the prior Nuzzle, giving Aph another free turn to make things right. "...Yeah, seriously. I didn't think your Misdreavus would get stunned right away. Aph is potent, sheesh. Calm down. Heel." Despite that, this Misdreavus was still holding her ground. They were going to have to push the limit if they wanted to bring this ghost back to the grave, much to his dismay. The rain was starting to get annoying, as water accumulated in a thin layer, constantly dripping over his eyes to torment him.
"I probably should've warned you that you were going to need an umbrella. Sorry about this." Hopefully Arietta was doing well on her side of the field, since he couldn't even tell when this drizzle was going to end. It was unfortunate that the rest of his team couldn't benefit from the rain, so they were both going to have to put up with it until it ended. ||Sorry, not sorry.|| Aph threw her head back with a chortle, enjoying the small breeze as the rain birthed all kinds of new and exciting smells. "Alright, so let's test this out. Corner it with a Light Screen of your own, then lash out with some Shock Waves." It was a strange strategy to him, but he figured that it was worth a shot. Aph didn't entirely understand the command either, but new things were always so much fun to experiment with! So why not?
Raising her arms forward, she landed in front of the Misdreavus with a giddy giggle. What a time to take advantage of her foe's weakness, she thought with glee. Energy gathered up to form a thin, shimmering wall between her and Misdreavus. Thinking that that was enough of a distraction, her cheeks sparked wildly as she clapped her paws together. One stray bolt zig zagged around the wall, attempting to strike at the ghost from the left side. Another looped around at the speed of Sonic, crackling with might as it tried biting at the Misdreavus from the right. You'd think that the combination would've been easy enough to dodge, but there was something tricky about the hungry bolts that made them difficult to dodge.
