She’d completely forgotten to drop by the Safari Zone last month, and was now sorely regretting it; for she now had extra unused Safari Tags now piling up in her storage…which was a good thing, but at the same time it was a bad thing, since she needed to keep rotating her team around every once in a while. This time, she’d brought along two familiar faces; all the others were just ‘temporary members’ of the ‘band’; and as she went through the mandatory gate check, she could only sigh. She was looking for her own Fighting-type to beef up her defenses; and now decided that she knew which one she’d be chasing down: a certain aura ‘mon that was just as sensitive as her Gardevoir in the emotional department.
Hoping her luck would not go sour, she then stepped out into the vast expanse that was known as the Safari Zone, and then quickly sent out her Braviary, and watched as the red light coalesced into the familiar shape of her Valiant ‘mon. “Sora, this time we’re looking for something a bit more…elusive. Here, listen to this description,” she trailed off, and quickly described the humanoid ‘mon in some detail, making sure to stress particularly on its color scheme. “You know what to do if you see one. Find me, okay?” she said, before reaching up and scratching underneath his beak. He then gave an affectionate call, before spreading his wings and taking off quite abruptly into the sky.
“And now, the real work begins,” she said, a hand on her hip, as she quickly treaded over to the section of the Safari Zone that looked like a cross of an abandoned city and a cave threatening to swallow the last bit of ‘civilization’ as she knew it.

She knew that if in case Sora found what she was looking for, he’d come screeching, out of the sky and start dancing in front of her. However, today was not the case… because instead of the Riolu that she was originally looking for, fate had decided to toss her a very evil hand her way. She had begun trekking towards the deserted city and was about to reach the outskirts of one of the caves that dotted the landscape. She knew what it was, because her friend Serenity had one—it was of the teal coloration, and it even had a fin atop its head! “Must you really dissuade me in this way…?” she said to herself, as a lone Gible popped into view, apparently it was looking for something that was buried in the sand.
“Gi, gible?” she heard it growl, before turning its attention towards her—and at that point, it went on full aggro, quickly heading her way with what looked like a Slash attack! “Ah shit, really?!” she had time to shout, before quickly shuffling around her jacket pocket and letting a random PokeBall fly, hoping that it was for the best; and as the red light coalesced into a form, she breathed a sigh of relief—it was Myrina, her Sealeo. It looked unsteady for a few moments as it wobbled on its belly, before she sprang back and then gave the first string of orders, “Myr, go and cut that off with a Water Gun attack, now! He’s on full aggression mode!” she shouted, and the Ball Roll ‘mon quickly clapped its fins together, before taking a deep breath and blasting out a torrent of water from its mouth. It was no Water Pulse, but she knew that she could rely on Water Gun for diversion tactics! “Move out of the way if it still charges right into you, be safe!” she added, skidding to one side near a tree so that she could watch the battle in peace.
“Sea!” she heard the reply coming from her ‘mon, and right as the Gible approached with its claws bared for the Slash attack, it was suddenly drenched and then rocketed off to one side due to the impact of the Water Gun attack. She knew that Gible was partially a Dragon-type, and that Water-type attacks wouldn’t work too well against it, so she breathed and then decided to turn things around in her favor, “Myr, follow that up with a Body Slam attack, let’s hope it stuns the damn thing! Go!” she added a few moments later—at the moment her Sealeo took a leap and was already airborne, said Gible disappeared! Shit, where the hell did it go?! She thought, quickly scanning the ground and being unable to find where it had gone. The answer became evident a few seconds later; the Gible apparently knew Dig and had gone underground!
Just as she was about to change her tactic and call off the Body Slam attack, the Gible suddenly rose out from the ground, right under the descending Sealeo, and what was supposed to be a beat-into-submission quick fight suddenly turned ugly as the Gible hurtled up in the air and threw the full force of the attack right onto the Sealeo’s descending form. She flinched as her ‘mon’s cry of pain echoed throughout the clearing, and the Gible then leapt off to one side and watched as the disoriented Sealeo landed in front of it, and then the Gible switched gears—it suddenly took a deep breath and then released an expulsion of what looked like draconic energy!
She was not sure if this was DragonBreath or something else, but seeing it come from a gaping dragon’s mouth was always bad news; “Myr, try and block that with an Aurora Beam attack, I know you can do it!” she shouted encouragingly, and watched as her ‘mon picked itself up and took its own deep breath before releasing a multi-colored ray of condensed arctic energy—and the two beams of energy met somewhere in the middle; and then there was an explosion—both attacks had successfully been diverted; although the surroundings didn’t fare too well, as there were frozen, as well a scorched leaves, falling between the two ‘mons. “Gah, come on Myr, you can do it! Let’s go, go, go! Powder Snow, go for it!” she added a few moments later, and she watched as the light-blue ‘mon picked itself up and then the air above the two suddenly grew cold; before a flurry of snowflakes fell from the sky, and was sent hurtling towards the miniature Land shark ‘mon.
The Gible, out of retaliation, went underground again; it was relying on Dig quite often in order to avoid much of the snow that was now falling in the vicinity. The Sealeo then looked around in confusion—before seeing something flicker across its vision—the Gible suddenly emerged out of the ground, pelting it with frozen chunks of earth; and then it quickly delivered a follow-up slashing attack; but instead of just a normal Slash, this one was imbued with draconic energy—was it a Dragon Claw attack? She could never tell. “Myr! Hold your ground!” she shouted, worry and concern creeping into her voice. “Try to blast it away with Water Gun, and then follow it up with another Aurora Beam before it goes underground and attacks you from there again!” she added, and watched as the Sealeo quickly complied, blasting a torrent of water full into the Gible’s face; before quickly following it up with the same beam of arctic energy.
The Gible was fast and quick on its feet, however—after getting rocketed away with the Water Gun attack, it rolled off to one side and then burrowed its way underground once again! The Aurora Beam then hit a tree instead, and froze a part of its trunk; she knew that she had to incapacitate the thing from Digging; otherwise they wouldn’t be going anywhere. She knew that her Sealeo was hurting due to all the damage it had sustained from the Dig attacks; but she knew that t could manage—and waited to see if it would attack from the front. What she didn’t realize, however, was that the Gible was also cunning—this time it came out from behind and then slammed its little body into the Sealeo’s back! Her Sealeo never saw it coming; as it howled in pain, before another pained cry issued from her Ball Roll ‘mon as the Gible had done another quick Dragon Claw attack to follow up coming out of the ground.
Izumi at this point realized that the Gible meant dead-serious business, and her Sealeo was definitely in trouble; it was looking battered and worse for wear the longer the battle lasted. Should I withdraw her out of battle or not? She thought as the ‘carnage’ continued; her Sealeo was trying to evade and guess where the Gible would be attacking from next—and another loud cry of pain came from the clearing, because the Gible had used two quick Dragon Claw attacks on it in succession. Would it be all over for the Sealeo? “Come on Myr, don’t give up on me now, we have to get this little bugger on our team!” she shouted, hoping her words of encouragement reached the staggering Sealeo. The Gible continued to dart around, before going up close and delivering two Slash attacks in succession—and that’s when it happened.
There was this weird glow, at first. Then it grew brighter, as the faltering Sealeo finally tumbled—and was swallowed up in a flash of bright light. “Wait a second what the hell is happening…?!” she shouted, as the light got so bright she had to turn away—even the Gible backed away from the sudden lights show. Even if it was just a few seconds, it felt like an eternity to her; because once the light cleared… it was still Myrina, but it wasn’t her—her form had actually changed! “Wait a second… whoa!” she shouted, seeing that her Sealeo had finally evolved into a Walrein, meaning it could stand up now to even ore attacks. With the newfound vigor, she quickly issued the next set of orders, “Myr! Ohmygod it’s you. Let’s go trounce the Gible! Powder Snow first, and then follow it up with Aurora Beam! Evade if necessary!” she said in one go, and the Walrus ‘mon sprang into action—seeing as the Gible was too stunned to even move.
Another flurry of snowflakes rained down on the area; before the Gible realized that the area was now coated with ice, therefore it was beginning to lose foothold on the slippery surface. Her Walrein, however, was solid on the icy surface—and then caught the Gible mid-jump with its Aurora Beam attack; the arctic energy was too much for the Land Shark ‘mon and she watched as it fell over, seemingly frozen. She knew that there was a chance for the ‘mon’s attack to Freeze the opponent, and this time she got lucky. “Well, that’s that,” she said with a lopsided grin as she took out the Safari Ball and chucked it at the frozen Gible, which was still glowering at the now fearsome Walrein that had managed to catch it mid-act with its Aurora Beam. “Good girl, Myr,” she said, approaching the Walrein and watching as the Gible disappeared into the Safari Ball, and waited for the ball to stop rocking. Would the wily Land Shark ‘mon submit and join them, or would they have to literally bring hell to its face before making it join their motley band…?

Apparently, the frozen Gible hadn’t put up a fight (because how could it, it was Frozen) and both human and ‘mon watched as the ball shook three times before it finally came to a stop—she then quickly moved over to the Safari Ball where the Gible was now housed and then tapped it a bit, before watching it disappear into the nether regions of her Storage system. “Well, that’s that,” she said, running a hand over her now-evolved Walrein’s skin—it was slick and damp to the touch. She then heard Myrina call out, “Rein? Wal, walrein,” before tilting forward and leaning backward—as if trying to tease her mistress. “Oh stop that,” she said, before taking out a whistle that she wore around her neck.
Since Sora, her Braviary was nowhere to be found, she ten held the whistle to her lips, before giving a single exhalation through the contraption. Normally there were ‘dog whistles’, but this one was a ‘bird whistle’—and suddenly the canopy around them broke out into chattering noise—some of the rarer avian species actually took flight out of anger—but high above the sky, a lone figure suddenly swooped down from the heavens before coming to a three-point stop in front of Izumi and the Walrein. She chuckled as her Braviary looked inquiringly at the Walrein, before the Walrein reacted by clapping its fins together.
“Well, Sora. Looks like we got something else this time. Eh, let’s get out of here,” she said, fishing out Myrina’s Pokeball out and recalling the Walrein in a flash of red light; before chuckling to see that her Braviary had already gotten into position, waiting for her to get astride his back. “Take it away,” she said a few moments later, and both ‘mon and mistress took off into the sky.
