Spelunking was something Izumi hadn’t done before—and she secretly wished to never try it, because she’d heard that at some point, it involved going through parts of underground caves so thin you’d literally have to be a contortionist just to manage the tight squeeze. However, she was on a quest: she was looking for a few things, asides from further additions to the Team’s Bank; she was doing some personal catching on the side as well.
She then sighed once again, because she hadn’t actually gotten to expand the space that she had within her Storage area—and decided that after this, she would do so. She wondered who to train this time around—she had a whole variety of ‘mons to use, but decided to carry around a different team (except for Sora if in case things got real ugly, real fast) to train the hell out of them.
Yeah, yeah, I know, I’ve been neglecting everyone else and I’m sorry, she thought to herself as she had several different balls clipped to her belt—and only one familiar anchor in the vast sea of darkness that unfolded as she began poking around the cave, looking for something worthwhile to catch and train. She also knew that she had to build up some of the moves, and get some practice in, so this was for the best that she was hoping—who knew what she would come across this time?

As Izumi was stumbling around in the darkness, she heard some rocks up ahead topple down; and she then trained her head to face in that particular direction. After that, she then saw that even more of the rocks were wiggling sideways—and the thing behind it emerged—it looked like some kind of pig; but it would prove to be useful; or at least that’s what she hoped. In a flash of red light, she decided to send out Agni, her Magmar, to give him an actual test-run… and a try. “Well then,” she began, focusing her attention on the ground-sniffing pig, “Agni, let’s get things on the road… use Sunny Day, give us some light—and then after that launch a Fire Blast attack right at it! And be careful!” she added a few moments after, watching as her ‘mon lumbered into position and then began to focus—while she kept an eye on the shifty-looking thing that was in front of her.
“Swinub? Swinub, swinub!” she heard the… ground-sniffing pig chant in front of her; before the area was suddenly illuminated with a flash of sunlight—even it felt warm for her. She then looked at Agni, and saw that he was concentrating on making a temporary burst of “sunlight” to warm up the cave—even if it lasted for only a bit. She then blinked and saw that a few moments later, the little pig-like ‘mon had suddenly launched an attack that consisted of mud-like projectiles! “Oh crap, Agni, dodge that and then use your Leer attack, then roll along it with Fire Blast!” she shouted, quickly remembering that Ground-types could snuff out Fire-types (regardless of attack or defense) in a few seconds. As the mud-based projectiles came zooming in, the Magmar had barely enough time to complete the Leer attack, and then sidestepped the bombs that exploded harmlessly all around it, and she breathed a sigh of relief.
The relief was short-lived though, as the little pig quickly sent in more projectiles; and some of them splattered across the Magmar’s stocky build, and it cried out in pain. “Come on, let’s not waste it! Use your Fire Blast attack, now!” she said, shielding her eyes from the dazzling glow that was lighting up the cave. She squinted through the bright light; and saw that the Magmar was taking a deep breath—before quickly expelling a super-hot blast of fire that was seemingly formed into a peculiar shape! As the little pig quickly moved in to launch another series of the mud projectiles, she then crossed her fingers and hoped for the best—as the aim of Fire Blast was iffy at best. Come on, hit it, hit it! She thought, looking through the blinding light and seeing that the little pig was seemingly blankly staring at them—and then was lost in a blast of superheated fire, apparently fueled by the power of the Sunny Day.
As the blast of fire petered and finally died out, she looked and saw that the little pig had seemingly keeled over—and then suddenly began flailing around while charging at the Spitfire Pokemon! “Agni, dodge it!” she shouted, still trying to see through the light and hoping that it wasn’t too dangerous. The little pig had plowed into the human-shape Pokemon, and then suddenly it was as if the tables had turned—why was Agni staggering?! “Ah crap, time to end it!” she shouted, quickly pulling out a Pokeball and then tossing it towards the pig, hoping to be able to secure it. She then watched as it disappeared in a flash of red light…

She then saw that there was another thing that was careening in her direction, and she then proceeded to squint in the darkness; she then remembered that Agni was with her, and then she called out, “Hey Agni, mind turning up the fire a bit? I need to see a bit further. Okay?” before hearing a grunt of reassurance from the Spitfire ‘mon, and the flame on its tail burned brighter—allowing her to see a bit further as she proceeded deeper into the cave. After stumbling around for a while (even with Agni at her side) the thing that was headed right her way was… a weird-looking, metallic creature!
“Huh? What in the name of Lavaridge are you?” she said out loud, looking at it with some regard… and then pondering if she should start helping build up the Steinhart bank at this time. Nobody had contacted her in a while, so it was looking to be pretty much that way… “Well, Agni… let’s ignore it; we’re looking for something more important anyway. Let’s not try to waste too much time here,” she trailed off, skirting around the levitating metallic creature, and heading further into the cave. Would it appear on this trek? Who knows if her luck would turn or if it would go sour…

As the flame on Agni’s tail burned even brighter, she could feel the surroundings suddenly grow dank and chill—as if there was a wind blowing through the area. But the thing is, there is no wind… so where is this coming from?! She thought to herself, shivering as she rubbed her hands together. Agni was shivering as well, and the flame on its tail began to quiver—before she saw a ball of levitating gas suddenly emerge in front of her! “Whoa!” she shouted, backing up a few steps and quickly sending out another ‘mon in a flash of red light. As the red light took form, she saw that it was Belphegor, her Kadabra, who was now busy trying to bend a spoon. She then realized that she may be at an advantage; for she then called out, “Belph, go forward and use your Psybeam attack and try not to get hit by that thing! Throw up a Reflect screen as well for protection!” she said, hearing her voice echo around the cave.
The Psi ‘mon did so, quickly concentrating on a certain area in front of it; and then quickly blasted a psychic manifestation of energy, and then she shifted gears—“Agni, light up the cave again with Sunny Day, and then aim a Fire Blast at it!” she added; watching as the Magmar stood right beside the Kadabra and then began concentrating—and for a moment, it was as if she was outside; because the cave’s dim interior was suddenly revealed in a dazzling flash of light! Just as the Psybeam attack hit the levitating ball full-on, a screen quickly materialized before flickering; and yet she heard the snap of it setting in place. She watched as the Magmar quickly expelled a super-hot blast of fire that went right for the Gastly; and it had no chance… or was there?!
There was an emanation of dark energy coming from the Gastly—yet it was no match for the blast of fire that had overwhelmed it! She then grinned, before quickly following it up with more commands, “Belph, go use Psybeam once more, and Agni, follow it up with a Leer attack so it’ll take more damage, I have a plan!” and watched as the two human-shaped ‘mons worked together in unison; one of them had prepared another ray of psychic energy; while the second one seemingly was doing nothing—but it was leering in an intimidating manner at the Gastly, which had proceeded to fire off a ball of powerful, dark, foul energy—and it went screaming towards the Kadabra’s direction. “Ah crap, try and dodge that, Belph!” she shouted, watching as the Psybeam attack finally left it—yet the Shadow Ball attack went screaming in the Kadabra’s direction.
She heard a cry of pain as it received the attack full-on; but was still standing; although it was looking battered at the moment. She then hissed, and then took out another Pokeball and quickly tossed it at the overwhelmed Gastly, because it had taken the brunt of two Psybeam attacks and one Fire Blast… would it come with her?

As the Pokeball landed on the cave floor, three sets of eyes were watching it intently—two ‘mon and one human—and the ball shuddered once, twice… and it looked like it was going to break free, but with an overwhelming attempt by two ‘mons to help their mistress out, the ball stopped quivering. They then watched it as it vanished, off to some part of the nether space that was also known as Izumi’s Storage; and then she gave a sigh—but they were not out of danger yet. Another ‘mon had decided to trundle across their path—and cute as it may have been, it wasn’t what she was looking for.
Hissing a few curse words under her breath, this sudden swing of emotion caused her Kadabra to look at her with concern; but he shrugged it off saying, “Meh, I’m fine, I’ve got an idea. Get over here, Belph. You too, Agni,” she added, quickly bringing out another green bottle that she was going to use. I know that my luck is less than good, but with two ‘mons here? Come on. I’ll push my luck and hope for the best! She thought as she quickly activated the can of Repel spray; and then hoped for the best! The two ‘mons with her watched as the cloud of white spray engulfed themselves (and Izumi as well) and who knew what would be waiting for them at the end of the tunnel… err, when the smoke cleared?

As the white smoke cleared out, they could hear the walls vibrating—or was it just their imagination? “Magmar?” she heard Agni say from her left side, while on her right, Belphegor looked at her inquiringly; as if trying to read his mistress’ mind. He was still having problems trying to reach his mistress’ psyche, but he was working around the barriers… and as the last of the white smoke faded—the rumbling noise was getting louder. Much louder.
“What the hell is that…” Izumi said, her voice barely above a whisper; and then realized that the cave shaking was not her imagination—it really was quaking like crazy. “Uh-oh…” she said, a few seconds before the space in front of them suddenly erupted into one gigantic Onix, the Rock Snake ‘mon. “What!? Really?! Oh well, let’s have at it. You’re coming with me to the Steinhart bank,” she said, quickly moving a few steps back and going into motion. “Agni, let’s get out of here… you’re not going to last. I know someone else would though,” she began, whipping out her Magmar’s Pokeball and calling him back; before fishing around in her pocket and quickly extracting another one—and sending out its occupant in another flash of red light.
It revealed Winston, the Rhydon that she’d gotten from the seedy person who was giving his ‘mons away—and then was surprised to see that it was going to be his first time going into actual battle—and then the Onix decided to start everything off on an insane manner by quickly charging forward in a reckless manner! “Belph, use Reflect again now and fire off a Psybeam to support Winston! Now, as for you Winston… go use Drill Run attack now, and try not to get too hurt!” she shouted over the loud, clattering din in the cave that was being caused by the rock snake. At the same moment, she watched as the Reflect support attack quickly snapped into place again, offering additional protection—and then the Rhydon quickly began rotating its own body like a drill as it charged forward, meeting the Onix head-on and crashing into its body.
Over the roar and the din of the crashing bodies of both titanic ‘mons, she shouted over the din, “Winston, go use Rock Blast on it now!” and watched as the Psybeam support attack smacked the Onix head-on, and she hoped that I would get Confused... but it was a no-go; and the two ‘mons were now struggling in a battle of strength. Belphegor, on the other hand, stood by her side and was still trying to read her thoughts. She continued to watch as the Onix used some kind of attack that involved a rampaging rush (she couldn’t guess what it was) and then the Rhydon quickly picked up and hefted some fallen debris and hurled it towards the Onix’s direction, as it was heading back and was attempting to use a Dig attack! “Hunker down, Winston, go for Horn Attack now!” she shouted and watched as her large ‘mon rushed forward, head down, the horn on the tip of its mouth was glowing with some strange hue.
At that same moment, the Onix then rushed forward again—having decided to change tactics—and was caught full-on in a brutal display of the Rhydon’s Horn Attack. Izumi watched as the snake was tossed off to one side due to the impact it had made—and it was still getting up and going on a rampage! “Rock Blast once more, now!” she added, watching as it hefted up more of the scattered rock debris and flung a single rock toward it—followed up by a barrage of even more rocks! The Onix was then pelted with its own ‘genus’ and soon went down under the hail of disintegrating debris—and she took out one more Pokeball, and then said a silent ‘sorry’ before tossing it in the Onix’s direction, watching it vanish in a flash of red light.

The Rhydon sill stood protectively—if somewhat obsessively in front of Izumi, as it was very intent on making sure that the Onix was not going to approach his new master; it certainly had a violent streak to begin with, the ‘mon that they’d just caught. Three pairs of eyes watched as the Pokeball shuddered once, then twice, and then shuddered for a third and final time—and then quieted down. She then breathed a sigh of relief as she watched the Pokeball disappear into space; off to her Storage System which was getting pretty crowded at this point. She then dug out one of the two Pokeballs, and quickly recalled Winston in a flash of light, before turning to look at Belphegor.
“Yes… I know you know Teleport, so if you don’t mind… let’s get out of this cave. Lead the way,” she said, quickly taking hold of her Kadabra’s clawed hand and feeling the weird sensation overcome her body as both mistress and ‘mon vanished and warped out of the cave. Dang, this is going to be tougher than I thought… where can I find that Misdreavus… she thought to herself as she felt herself getting whisked away from the darkness and back out into the sunlight and outside of the cave she’d decided to go in.
