She then decided to get this search over and done with, because there was a very particular prize she was interested in—and apparently the person who possessed said prize was willing to give it to her; if she could at least get one ‘mon from that person’s wish list in exchange. What really made her do this was the fact that the Pokemon being offered in exchange was a Mudkip; and that it was apparently a rare ‘mon. wanting to get her hands on it as soon as she could, she then consulted the piece of paper with her; and hoped for the best. She wondered if she’d be able to get at least one of these creatures; and then began her search.
What was interesting about Vermillion City was the fact that it was not only Kanto’s “Gateway to the World”; it was also a place where many Trainers converged in order to be able to access this region. In all honesty, the trip from Hoenn via one of the inter-region ships was so long and boring, she was practically bored out of her wits by the time the ship had finally docked in the region. Now, she was here for a different reason—to start searching the area for Water-type ‘mons. She then began walking near the place where the town suddenly ended, and opened out into the vast ocean; hoping that something worthwhile would turn up.

She was going down along the coastline when she saw something that had washed up along the shoreline, and was waving its tentacles around as if trying to catch her attention. For a brief moment, she stopped and then pulled out a list and then consulted it—before seeing that she’d scribbled “Tentacool” somewhere along those lines—and saw that, was this the one she was looking for? Heh, maybe this trip would even end early, but who knows right? She thought with a grin, digging around through her pocket before finally deciding to send out her first ‘mon, the now-fully evolved Gardevoir nicknamed Momo. In a flash of red light, the tall, graceful Embrace ‘mon appeared—before looking behind her. “Voir? Gardevoir?” she heard the beautiful creature ask, looking at her inquiringly.
“So… yeah. This is going to be our first try at an unusual territory; but I know you can handle it. So, first up, let’s raise the bar with Calm Mind, and then…” she trailed off, before flashing a wicked grin. “Drop a Thunderbolt on that thing. We’re here on business,” she said, issuing the first commands—just as the Tentacool reared up and suddenly spat out a secretion of purple-colored, noxious-looking fluid threateningly! “Ooh, touchy. Are you related to this so-called ‘Kraken’ I read about or something?” she said in the sea creature’s direction, where it then quickly lashed out with its tentacles in an attempt to limit Momo’s movements!
Momo, on the other hand, had already centered herself; and then raised her hands toward the sky—Izumi looked up and was surprised to see that it had suddenly turned to the color and look of an actual thunder storm—before watching a powerful blast of electric energy drop down from the opening in the heavens—smacking the Tentacol’s body in its entirety. The outstretched tentacles had barely reached Momo when it began quivering, and then shaking like hell. “Hah. Don’t touch us,” she said with a grin, as Momo awaited the next orders—but apparently this one wasn’t going down without a fight! She watched as the temporarily stunned Tentacool reared back, before quickly gathering up its energy and releasing a pulse of water headed in Momo’s direction—to which she countered, “Momo, quick, use your Magical Leaf and try to cut that thing off!”
“Voir!” came the reply; and then leaves suddenly materialized out of nowhere—the pulse of water was fast, but the eaves that had appeared were faster. She watched as the blast of water smacked Momo—who was knocked back out of surprise—and the waterlogged leaves shot through the pulsing entity; and then started cutting across the Tentacool’s body. It cried out in surprise; before Izumi quickly took out an unoccupied Pokeball, and tossed it towards the twitching betentacled creature and then hoping for the best…

After the ball stopped shaking, she then saw that wasn’t going to put up a fight, and she grinned—but as she was about to walk over and get it. Momo suddenly had an idea—she quickly held out her arms and then eventually levitated it towards Izumi’s direction—and she was very surprised as the Pokeball dropped in her hands instead. “Whoa… nice precision out there, Momo. Now, shall we get going?” she asked, giving it an affectionate pat o its head—it was so much easier to reach now, since they were almost as tall as each other now. “Voir, gardevoir,” she heard her companion answer, before the two continued to walk (well, one was walking and the other was seemingly levitating) along the shoreline—and this time, her luck really did take a weirder turn, as the next spawn looked vaguely familiar; she remembered a certain scientist-to-be telling her about it.
“What the,” she said, quickly taking out the list and consulting it, before fishing out a pen and then eventually crossing off the Tentacool and then checked the ‘mon out once again. “Wow. Seriously?! YES!” she shouted with a grin as she quickly whistled at Momo for her to get into position— “Okay, Momo, try that once again, drop a Thunderbolt on the thing!” she said, preparing herself for her luck to go for the better—the sky darkened around the immediate area where the Chinchou was, sunbathing—and another powerful blast of electricity dropped down on it! What she didn’t realize, however, was that this little one would absorb the entire brunt of the attack and get out of it without a scratch! As she waited for the flash-bang to clear… she readied the Pokebal—and saw that it was unharmed… “What the hell?” she said, noticing that instead of looking shell-shocked, it was still there, sunning itself as it pleased.
“Ah crap, seriously?! You have to be kidding me!” she shouted, looking over at Momo, who was now regarding her with confusion. “I don’t know why it didn’t work, but Momo, try dropping another Thunderbolt on it again! If that doesn’t work then let’s switch tactics!” she continued, waiting as the blast of electricity dropped down again—and the Chinchou absorbed it like it didn’t care at all! What the actual hell?! She thought, glaring at it as it continued to sunbathe—before finally noticing that it was now looking at her—and several spherical projectiles were now shooting Momo’s way! “Momo, defend yourself with Magical Leaf, now! And then, raise a puddle of Toxic all around it!” she added, seeing the bubbles of water flying her way—and all it took was a few seconds for Momo to summon a number of leaves from out of the air, and sent it ripping towards the leering fish’s stream of bubbles. It had decided that Momo was a threat, and quickly let loose a flare of electricity—had it used the power of the Thunderbolt that Momo had fired off at it, back at her?!
“Voir!!!” she heard Momo cry out as the powerful Electric attack hit her in its full force—she was unable to launch her Toxic attack due to getting zapped in the face. She then fell over—yet pulled herself up and off the ground; this wasn’t over yet! “Momo, fire off a Toxic puddle, and then use your Psychic attack!” she shouted, watching as Momo gingerly pulled itself up and then a puddle of bubbling purple liquid appeared underneath the Chinchou—and it then began flinching. After a few moments, it seemingly gathered electricity all around it—while Momo was preparing to defend herself from the attack; it then unleashed a powerful psychic “shockwave” that rippled through the air; hitting the Chinchou head-on and making it skid across the puddle. “Momo, use your Psychic attack one more time! Then you can rest!” Izumi shouted encouragingly from behind her; as the Chinchou let loose with another flare of bubbles headed the Psychic ‘mon’s way.
Momo then quickly gathered the last of its strength and then quickly let fly another powerful psychic “shockwave” of energy at the Chinchou—and then it fell over, spent and unable to get up! “Ah crap, Momo!” she shouted, quickly recalling the tired Embrace ‘mon in a flash of red light and returning her to her Pokeball; before drawing out another ball to use. In another explosion of red light, a two-headed dragon appeared—it was Riku! “Quick, Riku! Take out that evil little thing with this!” she said, quickly letting the elegy sound through the air, and Riku quickly held its ground and inhaled deeply—this was the first time she’d be seeing the two heads work in action-and then a few moments later; a powerful blast of draconic energy hurtled from the gaping mouths of the Zweilous in her possession, screaming towards the little Chinchou that let loose another blast of electricity… what would happen?
An explosion ripped through the area, knocking Momo off her feet—letting loose a few profanities in the process; and when the smoke cleared—Riku was still standing; however the Chinchou had fallen over; knocked down by the powerful blast of energy that the Zerilous had released. Taking this chance, she quickly pulled out another Pokeball, and then let it fly; before watching the fallen “electric fish” get swallowed in a flash of red light…

As the persistent little fish disappeared in a flash of red light, she watched and waited as the Pokeball began to rock from side to side—and after some time, it stopped shaking; and she breathed a sigh of relief! She then realized that Riku was the one accompanying her; and she was about to walk over to where the Pokeball had fallen—when Riku had a better idea. It had bounded over; and then the two heads began arguing over who would carry the Pokeball back to where Izumi was waiting, watching the two in silent wonder at what the hell they were doing. Just as she was about to go over to check on them; the Zweilous turned around and was apparently balancing holding the Pokeball; each half of the sphere in each of the two mouths on the two heads that it possessed.
Freaky… she thought as she watched the weird procession near her, and then spat out the Pokeball that rolled and came to a stop at her feet. She then gave each of the heads an equal pat; before watching said Pokeball disappear—most likely sent off to the temporary rest stop before she delivered them on to a certain Professor in another region. This little scene took so long, they hadn’t noticed the next ‘mon wander into range; it was a pink fish; and it looked like it had a coral formation growing out of its head. Weird… she thought as she quickly whistled to make Riku stand at attention; before saying, “Well, I want to try something out… let’s do this then!” she said, issuing her command—which came out sounding like something out of a serial slasher flick. This was the certain command for its newest attack, which was Zen Headbutt.
Immediately, two protrusions formed on each of the two heads of the Zweilous, before it came in charging at full force; effectively knocking the little thing out of the way. She then internally winced, before giving a sharp-tuned whistle; which was the command for its other attack—Riku then held its ground and then gave a very mighty roar; only slightly ruined by the fact that one of the heads roared at a later time than the other. Huh. Weird. She thought once more, before giving the sharp “call to attention” which made the quadruped, two-headed Dragon head over to where she was; and they continued on their way.

It seemed that at least for now, the gods of catching were smiling down upon her; as she quickly took out the list and crossed out Chinchou… and then something that looked like a crab waddled out of the next sandy outcrop; snapping its claws as it walked sideways and came to a stop in front of the Zweilous and Izumi. Remembering what this one was called; she then quickly crossed it off of her list; because to be honest, Izumi really wanted the price for that Mudkip waiting for her back in Unova to be fair… and then she grinned. “Well, Riku, you know what to do…” she said, letting the musical saw sequence of notes rip; and then it rushed forward, both heads roaring open and baring the sharp fangs for the Bite attack.
Unfortunately for them, this one was also a fighter—and quickly let out a blast of highly condensed bubbles in a beam-like shape; which went sailing out over the sand—and Riku was still charging toward it! It took the blast of the Bubblebeam attack in its full force—but that wasn’t going to stop Riku from charging as it continued to trudge forward and finally sank its fangs into each of the pincered claws; cutting off its means of fighting back. Izumi then quickly let the sprightly tune rip from her throat, and in a flash, Riku quickly lowered his head and then countered with a Headbutt attack; but not before the crab ‘mon sent a snapping attack headed its way!
“Ouch,” she hissed as the pincers took hold on Riku’s body; and a few moments later it was sent flying across the sand; where it quickly recovered and then let loose a blast of mud headed Riku’s way! “You got to be kidding me, you’re a feisty one!” she shouted, before letting the mournful elegy sound through the air; and the two heads quickly inhaled—and then expelled a blast of draconic energy just as the mud bombs were coming in close. She was bracing herself with another explosion of power ripped through the area—forcing her back several steps; and then seeing that Riku had skidded back as well. The little snappy crab was also forced backwards due to the resulting BOOM, and there was now a “sandfall” dropping from the sky; due to the point of power making contact with the ground below.
“Ugh, and I just washed my hair…” she hissed, before letting that certain note sequence fly once more from her lips, and Riku quickly hunched down and a certain portion of its head turned blue—before it shot forward once more; and the crab was coming in for another contact attack, readying its claws as Riku approached—and from that point, it became a struggle of will; to see which ‘mon could hold out. After what felt like an eternity (but was less than a minute) Riku fought free and then snapped its jaws at the feisty crab, and now that it was in very close range, Izumi quickly let the musical saw notes drop again; and it sank its fangs into the crab ‘mon’s body; which effectively made it dizzy! It then hung on as long as it could, before finally letting it go, and she watched as the crab ‘mon tipped over sideways before flailing around the sand, trying to get back up… but it couldn’t.
Seeing this chance, Izumi quickly took out another empty Pokeball and then let it fly, watching as it swallowed up the crab in a flash of red light…

Staring on in wonder as the Pokeball fell to the sand, it shook violently, but after a while it shuddered to a halt—meaning that it had actually stopped! She then let the adrenaline roll over her and she jumped up from the sand, extending her fists in a victory pose; since she now had three trading “chips” to use in order to obtain said Mudkip waiting for her in Unova. She then rushed over after landing back on the sand, and then snatched up the Pokeball before it eventually disappeared from her hands—having been sent somewhere to wait until she called them up and out of storage.
She then returned to where Riku waited; and gave each of the heads an equal pat; saying, “Good job out there,” before holding out its Pokeball and watching it get absorbed in a flash of red light. For now, she was done… she felt very fulfilled and satisfied with this current catching buzz; because she’d run into exactly the ones she needed (that were on the scribbled list that was now crumpled up inside her other pocket) and then turned tail, before remembering that Momo had taken quite a beating. “Oh dang,” she hissed, before getting out of the area and running towards Vermillion’s Pokemon Center to get her team refreshed and rested up.
