Now that she was here, she might as well attempt to get some more catching done. She was surprised to discover that her Unova wish list had thinned down considerably; although her Kanto was full of Rares; whereas for the Johto part, it was full of what could be called “pseudo-rare”. Hoping for the best, she then began her trek across the grassy areas; hoping that something substantial would appear and decide to make its presence known. She had a very uneasy feeling about attempting to use up another one of her tries to catch a certain ‘mon for her collection—but in the end, she’d still be getting practice along the way.
She then began looking around the immediate area, making sure that nothing was following her—she was the one doing the chasing after all. Wondering which ‘mon she would need once she’d come across something she liked (or just had to kill to get out of the way) she continued to regard her surroundings with some suspicion—because these critters had the tendency to jump on people from behind their backs and either maim them, or traumatize them beyond normal coherent thought! I wonder, I wonder what would be coming out today… she thought as she squinted her eyes and began looking through the bushes, hoping that something good would announce its presence.

She almost very nearly stepped on the ‘mon that had crossed her path—why the hell does it look like an ordinary plant… were the first thoughts that had appeared in the back of her mind as a clump of grass seemingly got up and began… walking, headed towards her before finally showing its face. She looked at it curiously, and wondered if she should catch it, but decided against it—since what use could she have for this particular little one? After all, I have a huge army to take care of now, I can’t just keep adopting and raising a whole army of ‘mons for my selfish purposes… she thought as she gave a little bow in its direction before backing away slowly; and silently.
Apparently, the thing she’d read about not engaging anything in battle unless it was absolutely necessary was true—if she didn’t show any signs of hostility towards any creature she ran across, then there would be no scuffle that would break out between her and the ‘mon that she would encounter. She then realized that she only had three (possibly four) more chances to find something worth her salt, so she then turned towards another area of the grassland; and began wading through the seemingly tall grass, keeping an eye out for anything that would catch her eye—and her interest, of course.

Oh no, looks like it’s chasing me down again. This bad luck is starting to get to me… she thought, seeing something shoot out of the nearby bush—it looked fluffy, and weird; but it wasn’t something that fit on her wish list. She then continued to observe the thing that had taken her by surprise, and then wondered just what was going on—why was she being dealt a very bad hand at the moment… and then resisted the urge to let out a very audible sigh. Not wishing to engage with this little one (that seemed to be digging into the ground) she then skirted pat it and continued deeper into the grassland, noticing that the further she went, the higher the grass got.
Ugh, is it just me or are my allergies beginning to flare up again… oh no… she thought once more, quickly quashing the thought (as well as urge) of sneezing. But it was too late—a few moments later, a single, very loud sneeze echoed throughout the grassland clearing where she’d stopped to get sense of her bearings. “Ah dang it, now I have done it…” she hissed to herself, looking around and hoping that whatever was lurking in the tall grass was not scared off by her bad move of suddenly sneezing in a very loud manner. Oh no, seriously, why now?! She thought, feeling a very bad tingle at the tip of her nose—and she sneezed two more times, before she forced herself to move forward.
“Ugh…” she trailed, looking around for any signs of life.

She had sneezed approximately three more times before she heard the grass rustle near her left-hand side; and she quickly pinched her nose and then took a look as the rustling got louder and louder—and then an extremely cute-looking sheep popped out! Ah yes! I’ve been looking for this one! She thought with a grin; recognizing it as a Mareep—because some other Trainers she’d encountered had at last one in their possession. Grinning, she quickly rummaged through her jacket with her other hand, before stepping back and giving the little fluffy-looking sheep some room—and her hands grasped one Pokeball and she then let it fly; revealing its occupant in a flash of red light… it was Arashi, her Cyndaquil. “Cyn? Cynda, cyndaquil?” she heard it growl, before attempting to sniff her boots again.
“Okay Ara, you can poke around my boots later, but first, you see that cute thing over there? We’re going to get our hands on it… so the first thing I want you to do is to use your Swift attack, and then prepare your Quick Attack just in case it counters with something… since we can’t use any of your Fire-based attacks here. Can’t risk a forest fire,” she said, knowing just how powerful Arashi’s Flamethrower was whenever it sensed that Izumi was in danger. “Cyn, cyndaquil!” she heard it cry out, and inhaled, before breathing out a ray that sent out star-shaped projectiles headed towards the oblivious Mareep. It had looked around just in time to see the star-shaped rays headed in its direction, and attempted to dodge; but Izumi knew that Swift was one of the “undodgeable” attacks!
Heh, just as planned, she thought with a grin—just as the little Mareep started glowing—a sure sign that it was about to let something nasty fly. “Ara, remember our tactics! Quick Attack to see if you can evade the—“ she began, but never got to finish the rest of the sentence, because a powerful blast of lightning permeated the area where they were located! If one were to look; it was as if a sudden lightning strike had happened, which was pretty unusual since the sky was blue and clear—but it was the Mareep—and Arashi had taken the brunt of the attack; but was still standing, using its speed in order to move in close and to slam its own body against the offending sheep!
“Cyndaquil!!!” she heard it cry out, managing to hit it before skidding off to one side—and apparently this little sheep wasn’t going to go without a fight, as it was readying to fire off another attack; and this one was a Beam-class attack! She’d been reading up on the different versions of attacks; and she decided to shift gears, by issuing the following command: “Ara, try not to burn the grass; but meet that—whatever it is—with your Flamethrower attack!” she said, realizing that even if Flamethrower wasn’t a Beam-type attack; it was powerful enough to meet anything head-on in terms of power. “CYN!!!” she heard her companion cry out, before taking a deep breath, and exhaling a powerful blast of fire—which then scorched the surrounding grass—and met the Mareep’s attack head-on!
The sinister-looking beam then met with the blast of hot fire that Arashi was now emitting—and since two opposing forces had met, there was bound to be an explosion—and it did happen, a few seconds later. A terrific blast then shook the area, knocking Izumi off her feet and raising a huge obscuring cloud, which she quickly attempted to wave away. “Gah, what the hell?!” she said, trying to squint through the smog. She could see figures, so she waved her hands much quicker in order to see up ahead—the two were still standing; with scorch marks all over their bodies. Seeing that Arashi was still standing, she then shouted, “Ara, try it again, one more time—Flamethrower attack, now!”
She heard the sharp inhalation of breath, before another blast of fire lit up the smogged-out area; and then there was another blast of lightning that had struck the area—and this time Arashi was lucky enough to have avoided most of the attack—and now the little sheep was on fire; bleating piteously. Ah crap, oops, overdid it… she thought as she quickly dug out another Pokeball and then tossed it at the now-burned Mareep, watching as it disappeared in a flash of red light…

After hearing the clicking sound; she then breathed a sigh of relief, and then quickly scooped up the Pokeball—and then tapped it gently before watching it disappear; as if taken somewhere by a mysterious force. She knew that since she had a whole belt of six on her, whatever got caught would disappear and be sent to another location—that being her PC. She then heard this… whirring sound; and turned around and saw that there was, quite literally, a horde of floating little creatures headed her way! “Oh man, seriously?!” she said, attempting to run for cover while whistling to get Arashi’s attention. “Come on Ara, let’s get this done and over with… think your Lava Plume is powerful enough to take them all out?” she wondered out loud, before getting a reassuring cry from her Cyndaquil—it was small, but it would most certainly try!
She then scrambled into a safe position, and then issued her next order— “Ara, let’s try that out. Go use your Lava Plume attack!” while taking cover—because she’d discovered only a few days previously that Lava Plume was an attack that was much, much hotter in temperature than Flamethrower. “CYN!!!” she heard Arashi call out, before inhaling very deeply—and for a moment, she saw the flames on its back burn the brightest that she’d ever seen—and then a split-second later, a blast of extremely hot fire erupted in front of the Cyndaquil; quickly racing in all directions. She could feel the heat from where she stood; and sooner or later, the little floating “army” was caught in the ‘inferno’ and started crying out due to the heat, and the pain.
Rolling her eyes, she decided to try her luck one more time, and brought out another can of Repel spray—she needed to make this all count, otherwise things would not end so well. She whistled sharply once more, and watched as Arashi dashed over to where she stood; and then proceeded to sniff her boots. “Okay, stick close to me,” she said, quickly activating the spray-top of the Repel can, letting it wash over her and obscured her field of vision. As she continued to drain the can, she then wondered what would come out of this “final chance” she was going to take.

As the mist from her Repel spray cleared, she looked around… before realizing that this risk she’d taken was one that was just… plain ugly. Instead of seeing another ‘mon that she liked in the clearing mist, she saw that there was just a plain-looking, purple-colored rat that had a prominent fang sticking out of its mouth. Arrgh, wheel of misfortune indeed, she thought, shaking her head in disgust. At least she would be able to get some good out of it… “What the actual hell?” she growled, before whistling and caling Arashi’s attention. “Well, you see that thing over there… please get rid of it with Flamethrower, okay?” she called out, making a mental note to go on a particular type search; because apparently one of the Professors in another region had something interesting for her… in exchange for a Water-type she wanted so bad.
Oh, right… she trailed off as she quickly positioned herself some distance away as Arashi inhaled once again; and then expelled another blast of hot flame; catching the panicky-looking rodent by complete and total surprise. Hoping that it was not scared away due to her crazy antics, she then issued the next set of orders; “Ara, go take it out with Swift, and let’s scram; we have bigger fish to fry,” and then watched as her Cyndaquil inhaled once more—but instead of spewing fire, it spewed a ray made of star-shaped projectiles. Well, lucky day… sort of, she thought as the purple rodent was tossed away; and she returned Arashi to his Pokeball, before quickly getting out of the forest—apparently it was a madhouse, even today.
