Now that she was temporarily back in Hoenn for the moment, she decided to attempt to think out her extremely long Hoenn wish list. Staying over in Unova was awesome and all, but she was still out and on the hunt for something that she wanted to add to her collection—a certain ‘mon that looked unassuming, but would eventually turn into something fabulous. She then decided to take a venture into the Hoenn Desert, and was not surprised that the weather within was raging like crazy. Ah crap, Sandstorm, as always… I better make this quick… she thought to herself as she began to trudge through the area, hoping that all the gritty sand would not get into her shoes and make it a living hell for her!
Ugh, next time, make sure to wear rain boots for whenever you’re going to places with a lot of sand… except the beach, of course… she thought as she drew up her arm to protect her face from the grit that was being hurled and tossed every-which way. She secretly wished that her own army didn’t get worn down due to the imminent blasting of sand—and wished that she could get this over and done with as soon as she could manage! Come on, where are you… she thought, looking around the area, trying to listen for the sound of anything moving over the howling of the wind that was ripping through that one particular area of the Hoenn region.

As the grit continued to blow all around her—even managing to get inside her clothes, so that was an absolutely horrible feeling as well—she continued to trudge through the area until she heard something chanting quite ominously… “Baltoy, baltoy, baltoy…” echoed throughout the area, and she then attempted to look around for the source of the noise. Squinting as much as she could (lest she ended up getting sand in her eyes as well) she saw that there was something levitating not too far from where she stood—and it wasn’t what she was looking for, but man the way it was sounding its call was very… scary, to say the least.
“Baltoy, baltoy, baltoy…” echoed throughout the immediate area once more, so she cringed and quickly attempted once again to redirect her steps away from the levitating thing… as it sounded extremely creepy, for starters! She then sighed, before bending over and coughing—some sand had gotten into her throat, and it felt absolutely raw—not to mention painful. She then squinted through the madness, trying to see if her luck would turn, and if she would encounter another ‘mon who was worth its salt; not to mention her while, since she was going to trawl through this desert until she’d acquired said ‘mons to add to her party.
Man, my army is getting much, much bigger… I better start skimping down on expenses now to raise them to be the best… she thought as she continued to look around, wondering where that weird crunching noise was coming from…

What with the weather around her already going haywire, could her luck just get any weirder… when she saw something rolling across her path—thinking it was just a rock, she was surprised to see it unfurl itself—and reveal that it was another ‘mon! “What the…” she began, before she saw that there was sand being kicked into her field of vision! “GAH!” she shouted, barely getting her arm up in time to disperse most of the flung…sand…from her face. Some grits went into her left eye, and that immediately began to tear up from irritation. “Dang it you nasty little… okay that’s it, no more Mister Nice Guy!” she shouted, grabbing a random Pokeball and watched as the flash of red light coalesced into a form—and it squawked.
“Oh crap,” she hissed; realizing that she’d sent out Sora, who immediately let out a cry of surprise as the sand pelted him from all sides—“Oh shit I’m sorry Sora! Bear with me here, okay?!” she shouted over the roar of the weather, as the little mouse-like creature immediately let loose with another attack—and was surprised to feel the actual ground shake, tremble, and quake. “Wh-wh-WHOA!” she shouted, feeling her balance go nuts and almost falling on her backside in all that sand—luckily, however, Sora wasn’ affected by what she surmised was an Earthquake attack. She then grinned, realizing tah Ground-type moves had absolutely no effect on Flying-types… “Well, Sora, time to show this little thing what we’re made of… go use one of your newest attacks, Shadow Claw!”
“Ruff, rufflet!” she heard it squawk over the roar, and then saw the little bird come in extremely close before letting loose with a slashing attack that was seemingly made from claws made up of shadows. The little mouse cried out, “Shrew, shrew, Sandsrew?!” before attempting to retaliate with another version of what she assumed to be the Sand Attack status decrease move. Sora received a full-on smacking of additional grits in its face; and for a moment, the battlefield was chaos—she could feel the entire ground shifting once more; but Sora was unaffected once again! “Now, show that thing your U-Turn attack, and be quick about it, this weather is insane!” she shouted, and she heard the obligatory squawking from up ahead as the Rufflet veered in extremely close before launching its attack, and then rushing back to Izumi.
“Oh yeah, I was supposed to…” she trailed off, quickly making Sora return to his humble abode and then sending out Nixe, who had recently learned a new attack that was much more for her typing. “Nixe, go use Bubblebeam, now!” she shouted over the roar of the din, and then saw literally, a blast of bubbles shaped into a beam-like structure were forcefully ejected from Nixe’s mouth, and the little Sandshrew had no more time to retaliate—it simply flopped over and passed out! Taking this chance, she quickly reached for an empty Pokeball, and let it fly into the storm, watching as it opened up in a flash of red light…

After watching the empty receptacle quiver and shake (even amidst the bad weather) it stopped shaking, and she quickly trudged through the calf-high sand and scooped it up; glad that it had gone down without too much trouble. Nixe was now out and about, flailing helplessly behind her, and she quickly reached out a hand to try and grab her close; but apparently it was still too proud for its own good—it had swatted the hand away; and she rolled her eyes as she dropped the Pokeball that contained Sandshrew before making her way over to where the little thing was. She then gave it a light bat on the head before picking it up (despite its protestations) and then went forward in the direction she came from—only to see that there was something quite… spotty meandering along the sand up ahead.
Seriously? What’s that? She thought, before remembering that someone was looking for this weird, spotted being—and then almost smacking a free palm to her face out of frustration. “Silly thing,” she hissed, while the Piplup protested in her hands. “Piplup, pi, PIIIII!!!” she heard it squeak, attempting to release itself from her grip; but she was just too stubborn to let the little penguin ‘mon out of her sight. “Oh alright, if you insist,” she groaned, letting the Piplup hop out of her grip; where it tumbled down face-first—she had to snicker a few moments before letting her rise up once again. “Spiiiin. Spinda?” she heard the weird spotted thing in front of her intone; and much as she wanted to pass on it, well, there was this one opportunity that could not be passed up.
“Oh alright, Nixe, use your Bubblebeam once more,” she said, glowering at the back of the penguin, and watched as it gleefully let out a blast of water aimed right at the teetering, tottering ‘mon that was wildly dancing their way. “Okay, now follow it up with Drill Peck, don’t waste any time!” she continued, watching as the Piplup quickly began rotating its body, before heading in dangerously close for the contact attack—when it was suddenly forced back by a sudden blast of what she assumed to be psychic energy. “Ah crap, seriously?! You have to be kidding me…” she hissed as she watched Nixe fly backwards and come to a rolling stop near her. She was about to help the little penguin up when it stood up on its own volition, and she then tried once more, “Nixe, Bubblebeam, now!” and watched as a torrent of bubbles held together in a beam-like shape were blasted from Nixe’s mouth, knocking away the incoming spotted ‘mon who was attempting to land what looked like a punching attack on her.
“Once more, Bubblebeam!” she called out again, and this time the spotted ‘mon was coming in much faster—before it was smacked right in the body with the Bubblebeam attack, sending it flying off into the distance—but still within capturing distance! She then took out another empty Pokeball and then tossed it at the punch-drunk ‘mon, watching as it disappeared in a flash of red light…

After watching the fallen Pokeball wobble and wiggle; she held her breath to see if it would fight out—but it eventually stopped; and she breathed a sigh of relief. Knowing that she was able to appease another one of her clients, she was about to break out a Repel and hope for a Trapinch to appear when she heard an ominous rumbling noise not too far behind her. Aw shit you have to be kidding… she thought, quickly forcing her way through the sand and then attempting to squat down behind a rock… and saw that Nixe had surprisingly followed her; and then she quickly slipped out its Pokeball and then returned it back in a flash of red light. Whistling, she couldn’t believe what she’d seen; it was a literal family of walking cacti.
At that moment, she felt her phone vibrate, and saw that there was a message from another one of her clients—and then smirked; for this one was looking for a Cacnea. She then sighed, and then rummaged around for the lone Ultra Ball she had with her—the only way she could catch one of the taller walking cacti. She had plans for the three that were following—at least for two of them. She then fished out two more Pokeballs and saw Momo and Arashi emerge in a flash of red light—even if she knew that Momo was a Psychic-type, who knew if her newly-learned Thunderbolt attack would be able to fry these walking cacti. Of course, Arashi was there for type-coverage. “Okay you two. You see those walking cacti? I want you to get the male—one of the two bigger ones; leave the other one alone, and two of the other itchier ones. Arashi, you know how to burn things now right?” “Voir, gardevoir.”
“Cynda, cyndaquil!”
“Now, GO!” she shouted, standing up from behind her hiding spot; which then flustered the family of cacti. “Arashi, go use your Lava Plume attack first—and Momo, charge up with Calm Mind, then unleash the nasty with your Thunderbolt!” she added, issuing their orders—and the two leapt into action. Momo centered her thoughts, even while in the storm—just as Arashi was taking a deep breath and then breathed out and expelled a blast of super-hot lava that cascaded over the sand dunes. The family of cacti panicked; with one of the two larger ones pushing its partner and one of the other younglings out of the way. She then saw that there were three that were going to be caught in the Lava Plume attack, and immediately scattered a smattering of Spikes to attempt to counter it!
It didn’t work—however, the remaining male Cacturne had already begun firing a series of missiles towards the two intruders; and she quickly followed up the commands with, “Arashi, go Flamethrower the bigger one! Momo, try to levitate the smaller ones and try to slam them together!” she said, running out of ideas—just as Arashi expelled another blast of super-hot fire; Momo quickly flicked one of its arms and made the two younglings levitate up and off of the ground. “Now, Momo, drop it! Thunderbolt attack on the area!” she shouted; waiting for the imminent to happen. The sky darkened; and a few moments later, a bolt of supercharged energy came crashing down on the bigger cacti; temporarily obscuring it in its light while the smaller ones were repeatedly dropped and dunked into the rapidly-cooling lava, and they were screaming in pain.
“Momo, keep dunking them—Arashi, go use your Lava Plume again!” she shouted once more, hoping to get this done and over with; she the continued to watch as the two Cacnea were being tossed and retrieved via use of telepathic powers by the Gardevoir; while the Cacturne was unfazed by the Thunderbolt—yet it wasn’t fast enough to escape the Lava Plume attack. “Hah, beat that,” she said, grinning as the plume of lava quickly spread out across the area.
“Tsh, this is crazy,” she said, watching the proceedings continue. The Cacturne was still valiantly shooting off what looked like Pin Missile at them; whereas the poor Cacnea where being tossed about by Momo’s telekinetic powers. After a while, she grew tired of the sport, and then saw that Arashi was going to poise itself for another… “Flamethrower, go!” she called out, watching as the little mouse quickly bathed all three cacti in fire—and they were all swallowed.
She then took this chance to dart forward and then took out one Ultra Ball and 2 Pokeballs—one of them was hers, while the other 2 were for specific clients… she then let all the balls fly, watching as they all opened up and swallowed each individual ‘mon in a flash of red light.

She held her breath and waited to see if the three spheres she’d tossed would absorb their stunned and shocked occupants without a fight—to her surprise, they did stop quivering after a while. She then grinned, and trudged her way once more through the sand, before picking up the three. One of the balls she dropped down the left-hand side of her jacket’s inner pocket, the other two went into the right-hand exterior pocket of the same jacket—she knew she had to segregate the captures; as two of them were for potential clients she would be bartering them off to—one of them was for Jovia, in fact, while the other was a special request.
The one she’d isolated from the others was the one she was keeping for herself; and she felt quite pleased—although her trip didn’t turn up the one she was exactly looking for, she sighed all the same, and silently vowed that she would try her luck again on another day. Or now, though, she then made her way down and out of the expanse of desert; because in all honesty, the sand was literally getting everywhere—her clothes, the shoes she was wearing—and one of her eyes had swollen shut due to the irritation the grains had caused when it somehow lodged into her left eye. Ugh. Overall, quite a successful day for this catching trip, but otherwise, I’ll be back for you, Trapinch! You will not escape me! She thought, her determination hardening into an aura of resolve.
