Seeing as she didn’t have much luck while she was trawling through Chargestone Cave, she decided to try her luck elsewhere. After a few hours’ worth of travel by bike, she finally found herself in the urban area surrounding the so-called “City of Dragons” in the Unova region, which was Opelucid City. Now that she’d arrived, she hoped to run into some more ‘mons while she was still here—as she would be staying around the area a while; before heading back to Kanto (and back to that red-headed headache). She was whistling a tune; because she’d finally managed to acquire a Feebas, and was in the process of acquiring a Deerling as well—there were some ‘mons that weren’t on her wish list; but were apparently being sought after by other Trainers in the area—and she was on her best attempt to look out for these ‘mons; and hopefully make some quick cash after she was done.
She decided to look around the outskirts of the city, and hoping that she was not going to cross something foul and vile; she secretly crossed her fingers and then began the search—looking around the general area; before hearing a certain rustling noise. Where was it coming from? She then stepped forward and tilted her head from side to side, forcing her ears to listen as intently as possible… the rustling noise grew louder and more pronounced, and she then made her own footsteps soft, and sneaky… come on, come on, please? Went through her mind as she cautiously looked around the wall where she’d leaned against.

Her eyes then widened in shock as a human-shape Pokemon leapt out of the corner; and was swinging its bladed arms aggressively; and from the moment that she’d laid her eyes on it, she knew that she just had to get her hands on it! “Well then,” she began, grinning as her hand quickly sunk into her pocket and quickly retrieved a Pokeball—and in a flash of red light, released her Deino, nicknamed Riku. “Dei, deino!?” she heard him growl; while attempting to scent the air. “Okay then. I know that I’m at a slight disadvantage; but Riku… you know what to do,” she said, that smile creeping into her voice as she let the whistle of the elegy drop through the air, and he stiffened his stance, before inhaling a deep breath and getting ready to expel a blast of draconic energy.
“Pawniard, pawniard. Pawniard!?” she heard the human-shape ‘mon leer in her direction, while it was brandishing its blades, it changed its own stance and prepared its own attack as well—and at the exact same moment Riku released its Dragonbreath attack, the little human-shaped ‘mon came in for what looked like a slash consisting of a darkened blade of energy! The Dragonbreath attack was strong enough to repel it and force it backwards several paces; but it was still charging, and then Izumi quickly changed tactics, saying, “Okay, that didn’t work… use this then!” and then let the sprightly-sounding tune permeate the air; and this time Riku lowered its head, and braced itself for a charging, smashing head-on attack. She only knew that Riku was a Dragon-type, so imagine her surprise when the little ‘mon’s attack connected… and ddn’t inflict much damage, as he was still standing—yet it was forced back a considerable distance!
“Pawniard, pawniard…” they heard it growl out of displeasure, before readying its next attack; it then charged and began unleashing a series of cuts and slashes—and she noticed that Riku was being driven back, but not as hard as she was hoping. Aw crap I don’t have a whistle code for Bite yet, shoot, what am I going to do… she thought as she let the mournful whistling tune escape her lips as it cut through the air—and Riku took another deep breath, and upon what appeared to be the fourth slashing attack, it instead met another blast of draconic energy! The little human-shaped ‘mon met the attack full-on in the face, and it was sent flying across the air—and at this moment, she already had an empty Pokeball out and ready to capture the little creature. Taking a deep breath, she then watched as it attempted to get on its feet, before falling to one knee—and this was her cue—she quickly tossed the blank Pokeball forward, and watched as the sphere opened and swallowed up the little one in a flash of red light…

She then looked around, before dashing over and quickly scooping up the Pokeball that had stopped shaking—when she noticed something that had seemingly levitated towards her direction. She almost jumped backwards out of surprise; as it was a cute, fluffy… when she saw that it was pink her face did a complete 180 transformation and her eyebrows shot up so high, they threatened to disappear into her hairline. Pink. That’s what kind of turned me off… she thought as she quickly sized up the little floating thing that was in front of her—if it wasn’t pink then she’d give it a second thought; but all the same she knew that someone was looking for this one. Maybe just this once then… she thought as she quickly whistled Riku’s ‘summoning call’ which brought the quadruped scampering over to where she stood. “Okay then, what I want you to do is to…” she trailed off, totally forgetting at that moment that Riku couldn’t see. She barely caught herself in time—and proceeded to correct herself by whistling the same mournful-sounding tune.
At that cue, Riku quickly took up his stance and then inhaled deeply, a sign that he was about to launch the Dragonbreath attack. She then heard the little blob say, “Mun. Mun, munna? Munna!?” before the air around Riku seemingly rippled—and then he was attacked with a blast of psychic energy that seemingly come out of nowhere that forced him backwards ever-so-slightly (since Deinos are half-Dragon types). That alone was enough to break his focus, and she could hear his snarl once more. “Deino, deino…” it growled in a threatening manner; before it heard Izumi’s sad-sounding whistle once more; a sign that he was to proceed with the same attack at any cost. Inhaling much quicker now, he then expelled a blast of draconic energy in the direction of where the Munna’s cries were coming from—and it was about to pitch another attack when said energy smacked it right in the face.
“That’s got to hurt,” she winced, before it let out a wide-looking yawn—which traveled in Riku’s direction. “Go and dodge that, if you can!” she called out, before finally resorting to the only attack that was still activated by name; “Riku, go and use your Bite attack on it as fast as you can… because this thing, even if it looks pretty, is not pretty at all…” she trailed off, resisting the urge to roll her eyes in the pink ball’s direction. She heard her Deino growl, before it quickly raced forward, baring its fangs in readiness to bite it—and the air seemingly rippled once more—and this time he was unfazed, before his fangs found purchase on the pink blob’s skin. It cried out of shock and surprise at the physical contact, and then she quickly whistled the sprightly-sounding tune; which made Riku change its gears by backing up a bit and then quickly ramming it with a Headbutt attack.
The force was more than enough to make the Munna flinch; and in that moment of hesitation—Izumi quickly took out another Pokeball and threw it in the Munna’s direction, as it vainly attempted to make the air ripple around Riku once again—to no avail. The capsule opened up and swallowed the Munna in a flash of red light; and she then began to count down how long it would take before the thing would stop fighting against the capturing device.

Watching as the little sphere stopped quivering and shaking, she then dashed forward and picked it up—before seeing yet another levitating creature appear within her sight. She was about to brush this one off when she realized that it was one of the ‘mons on her (extremely long) wish list; and she quickly took steps in order to be able to capture it! Cracking a grin, she then whistled Riku’s ‘summoning’; and watched as it trotted over, without a care in the world. Coughing ever so slightly in order to clear her throat, she then said, “You know what, Riku, I don’t know why we’re running into these levitating things a lot. It’s very weird if you ask me…” she said, tapping a finger against her cheek, to which he replied, “Deino. Deino, dei.” And then turning to face wherever she stood just by following the sound of her voice—there were times that it really did suck to be blind, unable to see the world around oneself.
They both turned at the exact same moment when they heard an unearthly groaning—more like, it was coming from the levitating blob in front of them! “Solo. Solo. Solosis, solosis,” it began, attempting to summon a physical manifestation of its energy and then quickly hurling it towards Riku—where he stood unfazed, for the most part! “Deino, deino!!!” she heard it mock the little floating thing, before Izumi quickly opened up with, “Come on, let’s use Bite on the thing—and sink your fangs in as hard as you can, okay? Go!” she called, pointing in the direction where it was still intoning, “Solosis, solosis. Solo? Solosis!?” they heard it cry out of surprise as Riku quickly charged in, its mouth open in anticipation of biting the floating piece of jelly. It then tried to make the air around Riku shimmer—as it was apparently attacking with the same attack that the Munna was attempting to hit it with earlier—to no effect.
She then heard the connecting sound of fangs sinking into… the blubbery mass; and then it tried to attack once more with waves of what Izumi now recognized to be psychic energy! She then grinned, before whistling the sprightly tune—the one that signified that Riku was to use its Headbutt attack. He quickly obliged, ducking his head down as best as he could, and bracing himself for the impact as he tracked the Solosis by way of using his acute sense of hearing. “Solo? Solo!? Solosis!!!” it cried out as Riku’s Headbutt attack connected with its rubbery body—and then it tried to use the more powerful manifestation of psychic energy to hit him—all to no effect. “Excellent, Riku, keep using your Bite attack on it,” she continued to command, getting yet another blank Pokeball ready, in order to be able to catch it.
After several more instances of Riku using its Bite attack, the floating Solosis dropped to the ground, twitching out of exhaustion—and then she let the empty Pokeball fly, watching as it swallowed the round thing in a burst of red light…

Izumi then watched as the capsule stopped rocking; and scooped it up, quite pleased with herself. Now she was down to one last encounter before she left the area—and almost leapt a mile high when she saw the final ‘mon make its appearance; it was Litwick, one she was very familiar with! She’d made some friends while she was travelling around the region; and one of them had told her about a candlestick ‘mon that looked seemingly innocent; but its true intentions were revealed once said Trainer got too close with it. She then shivered with glee—and whistled Riku’s ‘summoning call’ and then it trotted over once again at the sound of the tune, before addressing her with, “Deino, dei? Deino?” and then sniffing the air.
“Well, it’s a Litwick. Let’s get it… Riku, I want you to use your Bite attack as many times as you can manage—without getting burned, okay?” she said, quickly pointing at the little bobbing candle, which regarded them with utter confusion. “Litwick, litwick, lit! Wick!!!” it called out, its cry sounding like the mournful groaning of ghosts that absolutely refused to go to the afterlife—it suddenly flashed a very bright light from its light source (the candle tip) just as Riku was headed towards it to sink its teeth into its body! The flash of light hit Riku smack in the eyes and then it reeled back—before quickly changing directions and then charging towards her instead! “Riku! OI!!! Snap out of it!!! The target is over there, not me!!!” she shrieked, barely sidestepping the confused quadruped and then it whipped around, charging with its head low—and a few moments later, she was knocked down on her back side!
“Ouch! Damn it…” she hissed, quickly retrieving Riku’s Pokeball and calling it back in a flash of red light. In another flash of red light, Momo, her Kirlia, appeared—and then promptly glowered at the thing. “Kirlia, kirlia. Ki.” She heard it say in a displeased tone, before Izumi picked herself up and off the ground, saying, “Go, use your Confusion attack on it, then follow it up with a Calm Mind status increase!” and then watched as the little candle attempted to shoot out a blast of weak-looking fire—which she dodged—and then sent a lump of psychic energy right at the candle; watching as it smacked and the groaning cries resumed. “Litwick, litwick, lit…” it groaned, before quickly following up its attack with another blast of the weak-looking fire.
She then saw Momo center herself, and then she called out, “Okay Momo, try and hit it again with Confusion! Hit it as hard as you can!” she added, bracing herself as she slipped out one more Pokeball and then got ready to toss it at the Litwick once it was weak enough. She then saw the same flash of light being emitted by the Litwick; but instead of getting confused—it seemingly got hit instead! The Confusion attack then hit it hard in the face once more; and then seeing that it was on the verge of collapse, she quickly chucked the fourth Pokeball at it, and watched as it opened up, swallowing the candle in a flash of red light…

She then gazed over at the ball that now contained the Litwick, and watched as it stopped shaking; before walking over and scooping it up. Never had she gone through so many captures all in one go; and she was a bit on the harried side once the ball containing the Litwick was cradled in her hands. “Dang it, why’d I start catching everything…” she trailed off, shaking her head as she looked over to where Momo stood, attempting to spin around on one foot. She then massaged her other hand over her eyes for a moment, before whistling a sharp tune to catch her attention, before calling out to her, “Momo, come on, let’s get out of here. We’ll try to nab that Klink some other time… at least I’ve got a lot of ‘mons crossed out form my wish list,” she trailed off as the ball containing Litwick seemingly disappeared—it had been somehow “teleported” by this mysterious technology encased within the Pokeball to somewhere safe—she presumed that it would end up in her PC once she’d stopped by the nearest Pokemon Center to check.
She then held out Momo’s temporary residence and aimed it at her; watching as she disintegrated into that red energy and was sucked up into the thing, which she pressed once again; making sure that it shrunk down to the more compact size. She then looked around the outskirts of Opelucid; before sighing and turning back and heading into the city to get her team refreshed and recovered. On to the next adventure! Her mind chimed as she began whistling a new string of notes. Dang it, I never thought my Unova wish list would shrink down considerably… since I seemingly have random luck at the weirdest times… she thought as she began composing another string of notes to use.
