So Izumi was on her way back to Hoenn, and decided to take a bit of a tour on the way as well. She was still in the process of building up her “dream teams” (yes, there were that many) and in the process, she was short one member. Sure, she’d gotten Asuka, the Mienfoo that was now travelling with her, but she was still on the hunt for a certain ‘mon that could take her across the skies—she had full intent of teaching Fly to it—and she now found herself at the outskirts of one of the smaller towns, having hiked all the way from Twist Mountain, past Icirrus City, then Opelucid, until she’d crossed the so-called “Marvelous Bridge” (which in reality was just a very long, very high place) until she’d arrived at her current location, which was Lacunosa Town. Wondering if her luck would turn for the better, she then decided to let Kuma out this time, as the weather was still chilly, but not too cold.
“Choo?” she heard Kuma chime in as he appeared in a flash of red light, and she quickly pocketed his temporary residence. “Well, you need some time to get some fresh air. Let’s go. We’re going back to Hoenn in a few days… that is, until we get our newest companion. You up for it?” she asked, squatting down and looking her Cubchoo straight in the eye.
“Cub, cubchoo!” she heard him trill happily, before sniffling very loudly—and she had to bite back a chuckle as the ever-hanging trail of snot vanished for a moment; and then reappearing once more. “Choo, cubchoo!” she heard him call out, leading the way, and all she could do was follow, wondering what lay in store for them.
I hope this time, it’s a good draw… she thought as she braced herself and checked over the remaining number of Pokeballs she had left. Gah. Better make it count…

She was here, meandering her way (and letting Kuma take the lead) when something emerged from one of the nearby bushes—it was alone, which was good (for starters) yet it wasn’t the one she was looking for… crapdangit, do I really have the worst luck? She thought with a glower, before rolling her eyes internally and then shifting her attention back to the present, and seeing that she was facing another Roggenrola—however she’d been contacted by some people who were looking for certain ‘mons, and since she was in the area…“Then why the hell not?” she trailed off with a grin on her face, realizing that she could get into some kind of business here. “Kuma! Use Powder Snow, now!” she began, even going into a bit of flair and pointing straight ahead at the Roggenrola; and Kuma nodded, before hearing its distinct trill of “Choo!” and then it sprang into action.
Taking a few steps back, Kuma then inhaled—and for a brief moment, the long, hanging snot trail vanished—and then Izumi felt the wind get colder around her; before seeing that Kuma had somehow managed to make the air around it much colder than normal—and watched as a flurry of snowflakes shot down from the sky and whistled towards where the lone rock-on-two-legs stood…
“Roggenrola?” it had time to call out before the Powder Snow attack hit it in its full force; and she held her breath to see if it had frozen (as there was a small chance for the target to freeze) but no luck; as it was still trundling forward—and then suddenly rocks began to seemingly hail down from the sky; as it had apparently used one of its attacks (Rock Slide)! “Aw shoot, Kuma, duck it as best as you can!” she shouted, quickly diving out of the way (as the rocks were seemingly falling towards her as well) and Kuma did try its best—but still got smacked on the head and around its shoulders with some of the fallen debris.
Aww, crap, this thing is going to beat us! She thought, before quickly changing tactics; and then calling out her next command, “Kuma, change of tactics. Use your Icy Wind attack, now!” while picking herself up and off of the ground—as she’d tripped over while trying to evade the area-of-effect attack. “Choo!” she heard Kuma call from somewhere in front of her—and then felt the wind around her drop in temperature—and Kuma had taken another step back and this time, exhaled a blast of chilled breath headed towards the Roggenrola’s direction—just as it was barreling in her Cubchoo’s direction! “DUCK!” she barely had time to screech—as she knew what a Headbutt attack looked like—yet Kuma held its ground!
Just like me, stubborn as usual… she thought as Kuma took the attack head-on; and got tossed back almost to where she stood. “Cub… cubchoo!” she heard it cry, getting up—and then realizing that it was now time for her to try one of Kuma’s rarely-used attacks…
“Go, use Brine, now!” she called out, and Kuma, on uneven footing, got up and this time expelled a blast of water seemingly from his mouth—and at the same time, the Roggenrola was thrown back several paces; and she then quickly took out another one of her Pokeballs, and quickly threw it, watching as it opened in a flash of red light, swallowing up said Roggenrola…
Can’t afford to waste this opportunity… she thought, watching as the ball began to shake.

Once she heard the click of the Pokeball, she then waited anxiously as it rocked… before coming to a stop. She then resisted the urge to pump a fist into the air—because Kuma had come out of the battle so battered, she wasn’t even sure anymore if he could still stay on his feet! “Well Kuma, you did a great job. Time to rest,” she said, holding out his “temporary residence” and watching as the snot ‘mon disappeared in a flash of red light; before reaching in for another Pokeball and this time letting Momo out for some… air. “Well then, shall we get going?” she asked the Feeling ‘mon that now stood in front of her, and with a trill of approval from Momo, they both continued trudging through the area—and this time came upon a different ‘mon; at least it looked humanoid. It’s even wearing a little martial artist getup… but sadly you’re not the one I want, she thought with a sigh, stopping for a moment to rub a hand against her temple.
“Well Momo, you know the drill. Calm Mind first, then let’s get down to business,” she began, trying her best not to sigh so loudly, and then she heard the sound of assent coming from further up ahead, “Ralts!” and then took a look at the ‘mon that had seemingly walked across their path; and then realized something—wasn’t there another one that looked exactly like this one, only in a shade of blue?
“Throh?” the red-skinned martial artist began, looking at the miniature Ralts in front of it (it was towering over the Feeling ‘mon at least) before it suddenly went on the offensive! “Oh crap, Ralts, try and evade!” Izumi shouted from the rear, watching as what she recognized to be a Throh quickly zeroed in on Momo, reaching its arms out in a deadly strike attack! Momo tried to evade the incoming attack—and was saved for the most part, had it not nicked one side of its body, sending it flying! “Momo, are you okay?!” she shouted, watching as the tiny ‘mon attempted to pick itself up. “Go use Confusion, now!”
“Ralts!” she heard its reassuring cy, and then watched as the now-familiar phenomena of summoning a physical representation of psychic energy hurtle through the air and neatly clobbered the backside of the Throh she was facing off against; and it grunted in pain, before executing an about-face turn and then charging towards her once again, seemingly throwing its entire body weight into the attack… “Ralts, go try Confusion again, and follow it up with a Toxic attack, now!” she barely had time to call before she witnessed the Throh literally coming down on Momo—but was forced back as the Confusion attack had hit it again, before watching it skid away from where Momo had landed. She then took this opportunity to quickly dash across the battlefield, and scoop up Momo in her hands, before the two bolted the scene in search of the next ‘mon.
Hopefully it’s the one I need… she thought, putting as much distance between herself and the Throh.

Little did she realize that after running away from the Throh, she’d be thrown into some sort of déjà vu trip. Coming to a stop (and consequently letting Momo hop off her arms) the two then continued on, and Izumi reached into her pocket and then pulled out the temporary residence that now held the extremely battered Roggenrola. Heh, you’re a tough one. But I know someone who could give you a good home, she thought, depositing the ‘ball back into her jacket pockets; and then it was as if she was meeting Asuka all over again—for another Mienfoo had appeared, and Izumi did her best not to scream out of annoyance; was fate messing with her?!
“Ralts?” she heard Momo ask, stopping and turning tail to face her mistress, who seemed to be on the verge of flipping something over. “No no, I’m fine… just… you know, let’s go through the processes. Calm Mind, then Confusion, okay?” she said to Momo’s direction in her best attempt at a reassuring voice, yet her temper was well beyond frayed at this point. Urrrgh, maybe I should go Safari-hunting with that Tag I have… she thought in the back of her mind as she watched Momo adapt her “focus” (which she assumed was the Calm Mind status increase) before watching the Mienfoo move tentatively towards them.
“Mein, mien-foo~?” she heard it ask towards Momo’s direction—but that was all cut off when a physical manifestation of a psychic lump of energy suddenly smacked the Mienfoo’s face, sending it skidding away from them! “Now, use Magical Leaf, and let’s get out of here!” she added, getting ready to run off from the path she’d treaded. “Ralts!” she heard her companion call out, and then watched as the leaves made from psychic energy seemingly shimmered into existence—and were sent hurtling towards the Mienfoo’s direction, which was just about ready to start throwing a series of slaps headed Momo’s way! “Dodge!” she called out a few moments later, and she watched, as if in slow motion—the dodging effort done by her Ralts in order to avoid the first strike of the wild Mienfoo’s Doubleslap attack!
Heh, Asuka has Aura Sphere and that’s good enough for me… she thought as the leaves circled around and then began attacking the wild Mienfoo again—and then Izumi was dashing once more across the battlefield, scooping up Momo in her hands and putting some more distance between herself and the reeling Mienfoo. Bah, it’s just not my lucky day at all… she thought, racing down the paths.

She was just about ready to turn tail and get out of the area… when one more ‘mon wandered onto the path that she was treading, and she almost flipped her case when she saw which one it was. Are you mocking me, or is this a sign?! She thought, digging into her pocket and coming up with another blank Pokeball. Seeing that Momo was still cradled on to her other arm, she quickly squat down, and let the Feeling ‘mon hop off the “free ride” that she’d given, and then said, in more than a whisper, “Well, Momo, let’s catch our new cohort… I know exactly what to name this little one…” she added with a grin on her face, letting the Ralts walk forward, and then stand into position. Why I love naming them before I even get them I will never know… she thought with a grin as she fixed her stance and began, “In the name of the Yamamura clan, I, Izumi, will capture and train you to be my trusted companion… Sora!”
“Rufflet?!” was all the wild ‘mon could say out of surprise at Izumi’s sudden outburst, but she was already on the offensive. “Momo, the usual set-up, Calm Mind then Confusion; go!” she said, quickly pointing towards the Rufflet’s way, still staring at the two like they were mad off their rockers. The Ralts quickly went into its preparatory stance, which consisted of the activation of the Calm Mind stat increase, before materializing the hunk of psychic energy and sending it right towards the Rufflet’s path—but it had missed! “What!?” she could only say out of dismay—then the Rufflet quickly came in for a swooping Peck attack, striking Momo right in the head, making the Feeling ‘mon stumble off to one side out of surprise!
“R-ralts!” she began saying, as if distraught, then Izumi recovered herself and then said, “Come on, let’s go with a Toxic attack, now!” and then Momo returned the attack by quickly making a pool of purple sludge appear beneath said Rufflet’s feet; which then bubbled up and vanished a few moments later—the Rufflet having inhaled the said Toxic attack. “Perfect,” she said with another grin, before trying again, “Use Confusion, one more time!”
“Ralts!” came the reply, and the same psychic lump of energy then flew through the air, before smacking the Rufflet upside the face—and this was where she quickly took aim, and threw the blank Pokeball at it, watching and holding her breath as it vanished in a flash of red light…
