Today was going to be one for practicing—because even if the next part of the Extravaganza hadn’t been announced yet, Andrea had decided to use some of the free time she had on her hands in order to be able to get to practice a few more routines. Today’s practice session was going to be with her Gothita, Claire—she’d noticed that the Psychic-type was starting to follow her around a lot more often whenever she was out of her containment unit. So today, she’d made up her mind and wanted to see just how much her Gothita could do without overexerting herself.
As she then alighted from the public transportation that she’d ridden in order to get to one of the many parks that were located in what she guessed was the more residential side of Tyntill, she couldn’t help but look around—would she be running into another familiar face today? It seems that this city is the unofficial capital of Nue, but that may be just me. I was really surprised to run into both Marcus and Gabe here, on two separate occasions. Would today be the same? She mused to herself as she took to the streets and began navigating—several minutes later she found herself at one of the greener expanses of park space; and looked around—it was perfect, really.
There were a few people lounging about on the grass; but basically their attention was directed elsewhere. She then made sure that the backpack she was lugging around was still with her, before selecting a particular stretch of grass and then finally settling down, before rolling out and calling up Claire in a flash of red light. As the Psychic-type emerged from the red beam, she then noticed that the moment she’d landed on the grass, the Pokémon then made a beeline towards her; tackling her leg in the process. “Hey there, girl,” she began, giving the Gothita a chin scratch, “…want to try practicing floating objects again?” she asked, while waiting for the Pokémon to give her an answer.
Several seconds later, the small Psychic-type agreed, and she then reached for the backpack and then emptied out most of the contents in front of her. they were small things, like colored balls and children’s toys—but what she really wanted to get trained was her Gothita’s Psychic power. “Alright… let’s try floating them one at a time,” she began, spreading out the assortment of objects, allowing her Pokemon to pick whatever she wanted to start with. The small, black Gothita then began looking at each and every little things assembled out on the grass, before finally deciding to practice with the pile of toy blocks. “Let’s see what you can do,” she continued with an encouraging nod.

Still only getting settled in his new home, Tobias found himself wandering around quite a bit. He was driven by a cocktail of boredom and curiosity as he ambled through Tyntill Town’s residential area. He found pleasure in walking around – it helped to ease his mind, and knowing that all he had waiting for him at home was a hand-me-down sofa, he preferred the clouds above him.
His wanderings took him to a city park. Tobias noted that it seemed less populated than usual. As such, he was drawn in. He looked among the rolls of green and quickly noticed a pokemon. He approached closer, intrigued, and watched as the trainer emptied a bunch of what Tobias judged to be garbage on the ground in front of the gothita.
”What the hell…” he thought.
He stepped a bit closer. It was now clear that he was watching the pokemon and its trainer. Habitually, he did not even realize what he was doing. He had a tendency to only imagine himself as a spectator. He observed as the little psychic-type focused its power and attempted to lift some toys among the pile. Finally, he understood the situation - they were training. The sight reminded him that he and his own pokemon still had quite a bit of work ahead of them.

● waiting, contemplating... Tobias Foster / floating the pile of blocks / 513
Now that the assortment of brick-brack had been presented to the Gothita, Andrea’s gaze followed the Gothita’s as she then walked over to the small pile of blocks, before staring at them with such intensity; a hole could’ve been burned in the small wooden blocks if the Pokémon glowered at them long enough. “Nice, slow and easy… come on, that’s it, you can do it, Claire…” she muttered as softly as she could, hoping to not disturb the concentrating Psychic-type as the little black ‘mon then began to raise its limbs slowly, but surely. The blocks were still piled on the grass, at first. It was a bit of slow going, but after several false starts, one of the blocks began to levitate into the air, followed by another… and another.
Sooner or later, all five of the toy blocks in the pile were now levitating in mid-air, with the Psychic-type literally staring at them. “Alright… good move, Claire… let’s take this slowly. Can you move them around for me, please?” she continued softly, waiting for the Pokémon to do as such. The Coordinator had gotten so engrossed that she didn’t notice that she was being watched—all of her focus was now on her ‘talent’ that was practicing the art of levitation, and slowly but surely, the small black ‘mon then began to walk around, concentrating as best as she could in order to keep the little flotilla of blocks in the air. The young girl noted the progress, and then a smile spread slowly across her face.
“Very nicely done, girl. Now… can you walk around for me, and try to make something else float?” she continued in that same soft voice, indicating the rest of the pile of toys. For the Gothita, she’d realized that keeping one eye on the now-rotating blocks in mid-air seemed to be a best choice; and she then kept her left eye on the blocks—while the right eye then began to concentrate on several of the balls that were laid out on the grass. The surprise of making too many things float at the same time was a bit too much, and with a surprised yelp, the Psychic-type had caused the blocks to fall—without meaning to. She’d caught sight of the other individual that was watching them at this point, and continued to wail out on the grass.
After seeing what it had done, the Gothita then looked at the pile of blocks—before bursting out into tears. “Oh, oh no. Claire, don’t get so upset…” she continued in the same gentle tone, crawling over the grass and attempting to cuddle up with the small, upset Psychic-type. “What’s making you—“ she trailed off, following the line of vision her Pokémon was staring at; and finally seeing the shape of someone who was observing them some distance away. After she’d picked up the Psychic-type and cuddled with it in her arms, she then called out to the individual who was standing some ways away, “Hello there,” before petting her Pokémon on the head.

Tobias watched as the young pokemon manipulated the objects with its power. He was indifferent to the display. He wondered whether the gothita’s owner was a trainer, considering the mild nature of her training methods. He recognized that the exercise was intended to heighten the pokemon’s telekinetic abilities, but he believed that the only efficient means was battling. According to Tobias, in order for a pokemon and trainer to improve, they must learn to actively coordinate in tense situations. As per this criteria, he judged that the girl was most likely not a pokemon trainer. She was most likely a breeder, or an entertainer.
The small pokemon fumbled the objects it had been manipulating, and dropped some of them out of the air. The creature burst into tears upon its failure. Tobias looked on, unimpressed. He had not seen a pokemon enter an emotional fit so easily. Evidently, this gothita was very young. At this point, he had lost interest, and decided to leave.
The girl greeted him. Tobias suddenly realized how close he had been standing to the girl and her pokemon. He hoped she did not find it creepy. But evidently, she was not offended. He thought it would be best to reply, so as to eliminate any suspicion.
“Hello,” he said, before pausing for a moment to think, “I’m sorry, I was just interested in that telekinetic technique your gothita displayed.”
He tried to maintain eye contact with the girl after he finished speaking, in an effort to appear less daunting to her.

Thankfully, the reassuring pats that Andrea was giving her Gothita on its head seemed to calm her down, somewhat. “Shhh, no need to cry. We all make mistakes when we start out,” she cooed in a soft voice, before raising up the small Psychic-type in her hands and then giving her a little nose nuzzle. “It’s okay, we can try again,” she continued; before setting the little one back down on the grass. Now that she’d managed to pacify the Gothita, she then turned to the only other human presence in the park; who’d in turn addressed her earlier exclamation.
“Oh, really?” she began, looking over to where the Psychic-type was now attempting to levitate the pile of fallen blocks once more. “She’s not that good yet, to be honest. But I’m taking it one step at a time. I mean, we can’t just train our Pokémon via battles alone, right?” she continued by way of a brief explanation. She then turned once more to her companion before continuing, “Alright, let’s try that again,” in a soft voice, before letting the Gothita do her own thing. Now that the Gothita had the go-ahead to attempt levitating the objects in front of her once again, she then watched silently as the Psychic-type then closed its eyes and had its face screwed up into a look of intense concentration.
Several silent seconds later, the pile of blocks slowly but surely floated once more into the air; and with a gentle gesture coming from the Coordinator, the Psychic-type the continued to concentrate as hard as she could, causing the blocks to float much higher—before spinning on their own volition while being held aloft by the Gothita’s Telekinesis move. Andrea didn’t really know if the move itself was useful in battle; all she knew was that she wanted to draw out their greatest potential without forcing her ways down their throats. After all, her own companions were also her greatest allies in the field of performing…

Tobias watched as the girl treated her pokemon affectionately. The little creature had yet to develop its abilities, but its owner was patient and supportive. Tobias liked to see that. He always felt that too many pokemon - of which all have some potential - were forsaken in the wake of a quest for fast, easy power. Evidently, this girl was willing to work towards her goal, while maintaining a positive relationship with her pokemon. He could see quite plainly that she genuinely cared for her companions. Tobias appreciated that in other people.
He replied to her, "No? That's how I've been training my pokemon. I take them into the wilds a lot, and we don't come home untill we're exhausted. They've come quite far from it. Of course, I'm a trainer - my pokemon have got to get used to fighting. It takes some adjustment, when they're new at it, but they all adjusted pretty well. But I guess that depends on what you intend on using your pokemon for. Are you a trainer?"
He found himself more talkative than usual. He had been noticing that with himself lately. Perhaps his journey was beginning to have some effects on him, namely in how he carries himself among other pokemon owners.

The little Psychic-type’s eyes lit up, the moment she saw that the toy blocks were now spinning in mid-air, a few feet off the ground. “Nicely done, Claire, very nicely done,” she began with a smile on her face, before gently pushing some more of the small toys forward. “Now, let’s try that again… slowly but surely, get another few toys floating up in the air, let’s see how you can control more than one focus at a time,” she continued, watching as the Gothita’s attention then flickered towards the other toys that were now assembled in front of her. slowly, but surely, some of the smaller, lighter toy balls began to rise up from their position on the grass, eventually joining the rotating blocks where they hovered.
“Excellent, very good control! Now, let’s try to keep it up as long as you can. If you feel that you can’t go on, you can let them drop to the grass and take a rest for a bit,” she added, gesturing with a wave of her hand in the Gothita’s direction, leaving her to practice freely while she conversed with the young man who’d joined her. Her own brows knitted themselves into a look of concern, before she then perked up and answered his inquiries. “Sadly, I’m not a Trainer; my younger brother’s one though. I’m a Coordinator,” she began, sitting up a bit straighter form her position on the grass.
“There’s an ongoing contest over in Flash City but the next part of the competition hasn’t been announced yet, so I’m taking the time off in order to be able to get some practice for our routine done while waiting for the announcement,” she said by way of explanation—by now the Gothita had several colored balls floating in a ring around the blocks that were now spinning higher and higher. The little Psychic-type was now clapping her limbs together, quite pleased at the sight of the floating toys in mid-air.

Tobias looked on, intrigued, as the girl encouraged her pokemon, and offered the little creature a break from its practice. Tobias had never offered his pokemon any breaks. He knew not to push them beyond their limits, but he always felt that the only effective method of improvement was to throw oneself into the water, and learn to swim. His training days were long, and the only breaks his pokemon ever enjoyed were the time intervals between defeating a wild pokemon and finding another.
"This little one is not going to go far," he thought.
The girl replied, explaining to Tobias her profession as a coordinator, and going on to talk about the competition.
"Flash City?" Tobias replied, "I've been there once. I hated it. Even the sidewalks are obnoxious. I met a strange man there. He was... strange. But pokemon coordination is definitely not my thing. I saw a contest once in my home region, my dad took me when I was little. I'll never forget how much I hated it."
Tobias paused as he realized that he was speaking poorly about the girl's profession.
He went on, "But, no offense to you of course. It's just not my type of thing, you know? I prefer the combat - which I understand many contests include - but all the flashy performances, it all just annoys me."
Tobias stopped as he observed the gothita now masterfully manipulating the objects, and even clapping to itself in pleasure of its achievement. He rubbed his chin as he looked on, impressed.

Andrea then looked up, wondering what had caused her companion’s aversion to her field of profession. “Well, to be fair… Coordinating isn’t all about the flashy appeals we make. There’s also a certain aspect of battle involved, if you’re curious. The appeals are just one part of it. Either way, even us Coordinators also have to learn the tricks of the trade of battling,” she added with a sheepish chuckle before turning her attention back to where her Gothita was now floating a multitude of toys in mid-air, clapping her own hands at the sight.
“But of course, I don’t treat my Pokémon like slaves, because if I did that, then they’d never listen to me whatever I say,” she continued, her eyebrows crinkling into a concerned look. “…I’ve seen that happen to another Coordinator who was performing on-stage, instead of attacking her opponent across the stage, it turned and attacked her instead. It didn’t end too good,” she said with a sigh, remembering that grisly outburst on-stage. “The incident was written off as a freak accident, but… oh, well…” she continued with another sigh, before turning her attention back to her Gothita.
“Very nicely done, Claire,” she began, clapping her own hands—the sound had caused her Psychic-type to turn and look in her way, before watching the little armada of floating objects heading her way and settling down in a circle around her. “I think we can get that levitating act down in our next appearance. Keep it up,” she added with a gesture, before waving in the Pokémon’s direction; and watching as the objects that had just so recently landed on the grass rise up into mid-air again, before following the Gothita as she walked around, dancing a little dance of her own.
“Oh, I’m sorry… I forgot to introduce myself. I’m Andrea,” she said in the young male’s direction, holding out a hand for him to shake. “I come from all the way out there, from Hoenn. How about you?” she remarked, hoping that her companion would introduce himself.
Post by Tobias Foster on Mar 12, 2015 8:53:21 GMT -5
Tobias was pleased to hear the girl explain that battling has a much more intensive presence in pokemon contests than he had thought. The performance he had seen, many years ago, was nothing more than a flashy music show. The memory of that show almost made him roll his eyes.
Apparently, this girl had been involved in battling much longer than Tobias had been. Perhaps he could learn from her. She seemed experienced in raising pokemon. Tobias did not believe that this gothita was the best she could offer. No, she had probably trained many pokemon before it.
The girl introduced herself to Tobias. Her name was Andrea, and just like him, she had come from a different region. She inquired about him. At this point, he thought networking with this coordinator, Andrea, might actually be in his best interest.
"I'm Tobias," he said, "I'm from Castelia City, which is in Unova. I moved here for a fresh start, I suppose. I always wanted to train pokemon, but didn't get to it until very late in my life. So here I am, living on my own in Tynntill Town."

“I also passed through Castelia during my travels, but that was only to check out the scene and see if there were any contests happening. Sadly, when I got there I didn’t find out anything too much—but I was able to get myself some Unova-exclusive Pokémon,” she began by way of explanation, before looking at her Gothita who was now attempting to ‘air juggle’ all of the levitating objects she was working with right now.
The small Psychic-type was now moving around the little flotilla of objects by clapping its hands, before turning back around and showing her master what she was doing at the moment. “Heh, excellent control you have there,” she continued, flashing the Gothita a thumbs-up in its direction, before letting the small Psychic-type do its thing.
Now that the two were properly acquainted, she then furrowed her brow only slightly, wondering why Tobias hadn’t gone on a journey until much later in life. “You didn’t leave at the infamous age of ten years young on your journey? That’s fine… so long as you’re able to get out and do what you want, no matter how late in life it is, then it’s okay. Is there something you want to ask me?” she inquired, hoping that his curiosity would be sated with her own question.
Post by Tobias Foster on Mar 14, 2015 7:02:02 GMT -5
Tobias was intrigued to hear that Andrea had been to Castelia City before. From her story, he knew that she had been working with pokemon for a very long time, and in many parts of the world. He had not yet met anyone in Nue who had ever been to Unova. It went without saying or thought that she was considerably more experienced than he was.
Compared to other strangers he had met, he felt more comfortable talking to Andrea. Other trainers and coordinators he had met were typically either annoying, rude, or were the sort of caliber who really, really would have liked Tobias to look at their awesome bidoof and zubat.
Andrea commented about how late Tobias began his journey, then she went on and asked him whether he had anything in particular he wanted to ask her.
"Sort of an odd question," he thought.
He had not been looking for anything in particular from her. At this moment, he could not even remember how he ended up talking to her. And yet, they were getting along quite well. Posed with her question, he took a moment and thought. This was an unfamiliar situation to him. Was she trying to hint at something with that? He had no idea - but he decided to take a leap.
"Yeah, actually," he replied, "Can I have your phone number?"

She was now watching the Telekinesis-fueled juggling that was taking place; and saw that most of, if not all of the toys were gone from the grass and were now hovering around the Gothita. Andrea could tell that her small companion was now getting pretty used to balancing all the things they were supposed to be tackling one at a time; and decided to leave Claire be, because from the way her Pokémon’s eyes sparkled at all the pretty objects that were now levitating around her like a flotilla, the Gothita was looking immensely pleased. Her eyes snapped up at the mention of asking for her number, and there were a myriad of thoughts tumbling through them—before she finally reached into the back pocket of her skirt and pulled out a card.
Why do I always carry these on me? Because you never know what’s going to happen, she thought to herself before she flipped it over and re-checked the number to see if it was correct; before standing up from her position on the grass and then handing the white card to him. If Tobias cared to look, it was a simple white card that had her basic contact details written on it in flowing, red script. “That’s got all my contact information on it; you can mostly reach me via the cell number there. Other times I check my e-mail; but that’s reserved for my breeding transactions mostly,” she said by way of explanation, giving him a brief overview.
“You’re looking for something, aren’t you?” she continued, giving him a rather knowing look before turning to watch her Gothita come to a full stop in between the two, and slowly lowered all of the floating objects into a neat pile. “Excellent control, girl. You can come back now, and thanks for putting things as neatly as you can for me. Makes it easier to clean up,” she added, popping up the containment unit to full size and recalling the Gothita in a flash of red light.
Post by Tobias Foster on Mar 19, 2015 12:52:05 GMT -5
Tobias raised an eyebrow as he watched Andrea pull out a slip of paper, in response to his question. She handed it to him, and began explaining her contact information. He looked it over, and thought it to be a bit ostentatious. Evidently, this girl was some sort of professional. Tobias had never been handed a business card before. He pulled his wallet out of his pocket, and placed it in one of the vacant folds.
Her mention of breeding services caught Tobias's attention. He knew that he would have to capture and train new pokemon, but lately had been finding difficulty locating pokemon which he desired for his team. Of course, his searches consisted of no more than venturing into the wilderness and walking around in hopes of finding something worthwhile. They were mostly fruitless.
Andrea inquired about something for which he might be looking. Knowing that she breeds pokemon, and judging by her card that her name carried legitimacy, Tobias found an answer.
"I hadn't been at first," he replied, "but yes, I think you can help me with something. I am currently raising a team of dark type pokemon, but I'm having a hard time finding them in the wild. Since you're a breeder, would you be able to offer me any help?"

She chuckled at his rather sudden pronouncement, before she corrected him. “Well, I can connect you to a Breeder that can give you some Dark-types, if that’s what you’re searching for. Although, can you tell me which ones you already have with you so that he doesn’t overlap and breed you the ones that you already own by accident?” she said his way, before suddenly remembering something else.
“If it’s not too much to ask, just in case I do find the Dark-types that you’re looking for, can I have your contact number as well? So that we can keep in touch,” she added, hoping that her approach didn’t come off as too forward or too odd.
Now that the little concern was squared out of the way, she then crouched down and began to clear up the little flotilla of toys that her Psychic-type had been practicing on, slowly but surely packing away each and every toy that they’d brought out. Once the last few pieces were secured and the bag was back on her shoulders once more, she then looked around before inquiring, “Do you have any other place to go today? I hope I’m not taking up too much of your time,” she remarked in a sheepish-sounding voice.
She had yet to receive a call or a notification for the next stage of battle, but either way, she didn’t want to keep him waiting just in case he had to go somewhere.
