Tis the season

[Yumi Tasukai]

It was the night before christmas, and all through the board
Not a pokemon was fighting, not even honedge the sword
But in this sweet board of pokemon bliss
A certain red head felt something was amiss

"No ones quite got it" She said with a sigh
She looked to the giveaways and questioned, "Why"
The christmas season did not have you picking from a pile
It was meant to be a surprise! One that came with a smile!

"I'll show them all!" She cried, with a smile on her face
"I'll give out the gifts that will rock this whole place!
Why they won't even know what hit them!" she Chimed
But sadly, no longer can everything rhyme...'d

Thats right guys. While I may have donated to the recent christmas giveaway me Izumi and Trou were giving to, a part of me still felt that was impersonal. Now I know I can't get everyone what they want, but I'll try my best, and I hope you all enjoy.

(I've tried not to pick favorites. If someone has more than others, its simply becayse a lot of the stuff i had made me think "Oh, they'd like that" I apologise if you got less than someone else)



"Hmmm...who to start with...who to start with..." It had been a little over a year since Yumi felt she had truly began her pokemon journey. Since she had joined the rockets, began catching and training pokemon, and earning her living. Boy had it been a long year. There were kidnappings, territory wars, tournaments, competitions, some even held by herself. She'd collected so many pokemon she wasn't even entirely sure what to do with it...but most importantly...she'd made friends. A lot of them. Sure some may not consider her a friend but...for a year now, they had helped her get through everyday, by kicking her to get up, or supporting her with a pat on the back. As rough or as kinda as they were, they were her friends...and she was gonna use the christmas season to show them what they meant to her.

"Lets start with...."

"Heh, yeah, how can I forget that goof." Yumi smiled as she started working on her list of christmas gifts to send off. The blonde haired goof was top of her list simply due to how much he'd been around lately. Sure they hadn't met as many times as Yumi had met some of her other friends, but with his cute little pikachu, he always left an impression, and heck, he wasn't even half bad in a scrape.

"What would he like though...he cares about his pokemon...he REALLY cares about them in fact..." Tapping her pen on the table, Yumi caught a hint of her own bracelet, a sudden smile hitting her lips. "Well...I do remember him having a Charizard, and I'm sure I can find a few other pokemon he'd enjoy having.~"

Yumi knew when she started this little list that she wouldn't always be happy with who she was remembering. It was when an old friend came to mind that she felt her heart just get a little heavy.  "Akira.." A part of her felt she may even be remembering her name wrong, which only made her feel worse. In her 20 years on this planet, Akira felt like the closest time she'd ever come to having a relationship...then she vanished.

"I wonder if I can even find her for these..."

It was only when she looked at the forms from the extra pokemon training work she'd been doing that she realized she had someone who really should be getting a present from her. A certain green haired, ass kicking, and all around awesome trainer who Yumi had the utter misfortune to meet in a very terrible situation. Ricki. Yumi had er...kidnapped her...once...and met her on what should have been a staged bank robbery the next time...it was one hell of an ordeal being a rocket.

"Well I could give her those pokemon I trained on the house but...I think I can find a little something better."

Elinda, now that was a name that hit some mixed chords with Yumi. The red head truly didn't know how to put how she felt about Elinda in to words...They'd met twice, and both times were a heated battle...in the firest battle, it had ended in flames. The two trainers left on what could be called "bad terms" as Ko-ken had taken the battle a step too far. The second time was in a full blown league tournament...and Yumi still wasn't sure if it was a close call or not. Elinda was a smart fighter...Afyer thinking about it. She could say one thing about the emotions she felt towards Elinda.

"Respect blondie. Respect."

Now...Yumi didn't really know this next guy...not at all in honesty. She knew his name, William, and that was it really. He wore goldn armor like clothes, he had a huge wailord he adored, but beyond that, Yumi knew only one thing, he had been part of her summer tournament. That was it, said and done...but that didn't mean she had no reason to give him a present. Afterall, he was one hell of a competitor, and deserved something like the rest.

Adding names to her list, Yumi's mind lingered on Ricki, and thus, her time as a rocket. She wondered how many other people she SHOULD be giving some apology to, even if it wasn't her personally who had harmed them...and then she thought of the ultimate group who deserved some love from an old ex-criminal.

"I kinda just hope they don't have facial recognition stuff on the cameras at their office."

She wrote out a small amount of stuff she'd be dropping off at Interpol HQ the next day.

Nue was a new region, that much could be said for sure, but it also had new gyms, and new aspiring gym leaders. One such Gym leder, a fairy type user, recently came to her attention. Yumi used to fund these trainers, give them a little extra oomph so they could pose a challenge when she finally came to face them herself. She thought it was only right to give this new fairy user some love...even if it may dig into her pocket a little

Oh Ramona...Ramo-frickin-na! That was a girl Yumi couldn't forget. She even had to chuckle at that fact alone, afterall the two had only met once. They'd ran into eachother on the beach, met eachothers pokemon, had a laugh, it was all good. Heck they even had a little battle to keep their skills up in some friendly sparring. But hell, she looked amazing to say the least, not a face, or a body for that matter, one could easily forget.

A part of Yumi's list consisted of sending apology gifts to anyone who had the unfortunate timing to meet her Zoroark, the nasty piece of work that was Bruce. Josh had met him once, but in passing, so she hardly felt the need to send him any extra apology. She wracked her mind for a while to see if she could think up anyone else, when one last name came to mind.

"Vesta....I think. Yea, that was her name."

There was... a gift? He was in the middle of raising a beam for the storage building of the Sanctuary, but the delivery woman said that it was for him, yeppers, for him, for him and him only. So he took it, surprised and confused that someone would send him a present like that... Probably his parents. Looking at the name tag, however, Yumi was written right on it - wasn't that the hostess of the Race? Yeah, she was... What a kindness... Opening the present, he looked a the stone held within. He recognized that coloring in a second. With a scream and energetic movements, the delighted voice of the Golden Knight filled the Sanctuary grounds.

"VESUVIUS! SOMEONE SENT US A GIFT! WE HAVE A NEW FRIEND!"




Someone sent him a gift? And it wasn't Mimoza or Mother? How strange. The deliveryman said that the nametag had been destroyed in an angry Zoroark attack, so he couldn't say who sent it, but it was certainly for the "Fossil Professor up in Tyntill." He questioned the situation again, but deciding there was nothing he could do about it, he just took it and gratefully began opening it. Wait, a Poke Ball? They sent him a Pokemon? With a flash of light, the capsule released the Beldum held within... The Professor was astounded. This was truly a gracious gift.

"MANDRAGORA! WE HAVE A NEW FRIEND!" called out the Professor into the lab.



Of course, Elizabeth had no idea that Yumi had been that Magma agent, so the Breeder still thought she was just that Red-Haired Trainer who wanted that Abra Egg. But to have her give her a gift? Incredible. She hadn't expected it at all. She had to give her something back, but what... What, indeed. She couldn't say she knew the girl much, except for the fact that she was certainly tenacious. Still, she'd do something for her, she had to. Peering into the box, she nearly dropped it in glee as she released the Pokemon inside it. The Chansey waved in glee and huggled the Breeder, only to have Elizabeth squeeze back in joy.

"MARBLE-WARBLE, DARLING, YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE IT, WE HAVE A NEW FRIEND!"




More Eggs came in the door as the Elizabeth Egg Fiasco was finally coming to a close. How many Eggs had Elizabeth bred for her? Too many. And she said there were more?! So what if she didn't get some present wrapped in a bow, thanks to some girl named Yumi, that Fossil Professor, Brook, some person named Denise, and Elizabeth, the house was being filled with Eggs faster than she could sing Vivaldi's Gloria. She was planning on sending some thank-you notes here and there, maybe some presents to all these people who had contributed to make her a better Gym Leader. But as she thought about what she would say, one of the Eggs started glowing.

"Oh, no... ARENDELLE, TELL BRAUM TO COME OVER QUICK, I THINK WE HAVE A NEW FRIEND AGAIN!"

You people do too much for me. My characters and I, we thank you, Yumi, with all our hearts, for the graces you have placed upon us. Thank you for doing what you do to EPOCH and making it the great place it is. It simply wouldn't be the same without you. You might not be a new friend, but old friends are just as valued, if not more. Thank you.

She'd found a package in front of the door, another delivery probably from her mother, but upon picking it up, Ricki would be alerted to see that this was not a gift from good ol' Jane Jace, but a certain "Yumi Tasukai?" She was almost hesitant to open it, wondering what kind of chaos this woman would once more unleash on her life.





Relenting, she pulled back the paper as she headed back inside and began to pull open the box to find - not the source of a mysterious ticking noise - but genuine gifts. Slowly flicking through them, there didn't seem to be a card, just... Items that Ricki could really use. Picking back up the paper to find the return address, Ricki grabbed a pen and another piece of paper. This would feel more heart felt if she did it by hand right?



Thank you so much for the training gear, Yumi. It'll be really helpful for my future adventures, and I look forward to the chance to use them all.

I wish you a happy holidays and a merry new year! Maybe we should meet up again sometime so I can get my Pokemon back from you lol! Is it okay to write lol in letters like this? I don't do it often

There were some concerns Ramona could raise about the package -sent from one Yumi Tasukai, whom she had met a good while ago- that appeared on her front door such as 1) How Yumi had procured her current address, at the Tower of Insight, or b) despite only meeting once (seeing her in the tournament didn't count), that the redhead deemed her important enough to send her a gift, but none of those probably-logical questions entered the martial artist's mind. Instead, she simply clapped her hands together in prayer before tearing the seal off the box. What she found inside was a shockingly large bounty of items: more than a few discs that she knew for a fact were used to teach Pokemon new skills, three different colors for three separate types, and that wasn't even mentioning the two orbs buried among them. With a gasp, Ramona picked up the two Pokeballs and nuzzled them close, practically squealing in delight.

Damn, how she wished she could know Yumi's address and send her some gifts back. Oh well, she'd just have to thank Yumi if they ever met again.
