Josh nodded, arms folded, with Lightning doing the exact same thing in perfect sync, as they watched Izumi battle, while they stood on a high up rock because they knew the Gyarados would use Earthquake. It was kind of cute actually, the way Lightning seemed to mimic his Trainer. Whether it was by accident or on purpose, Josh didn't know though. Finally, Izumi would seem to succeed. "Good, good" he said, taking a breath. "You're getting there. But it's getting dark, we should definitely stop at a hotel soon" he said.
Just then, an aggressive looking Scraggy would leap out of nowhere and try to attack using Headbutt! It had odd red eyes, and seemed hostile and hell bent on causing misery!
"Whoa, look out!" Josh said as he noticed. "Lightning, Brick Break!" He commanded. "Piii.... KA!" Lightning answered immediately as he would nail the Scraggy in mid-air, sending it flying. Josh would look back over at Izumi and grin as Lightning landed on his shoulder. "See? Perfect sync" He cracked with a cheeky grin. Meanwhile, the Scraggy would fall into a small hole in a large rock, where hidden inside was some kind of machine just like the one that Josh had found before!
"Yknow... I wonder why these Pokemon are acting so aggressive?" He asked. "It's just like in the Badlands from before, remember?" he said, scratching his head. The Scraggy, meanwhile, would open it's eyes to find it's head stuck in something. The ventilator on the machine emitting soundwaves! The machine would begin making loud noises as it overheated...
Josh would shield himself and Izumi as the machine, along with the rock nearby, completely exploded. "SCRAAAAAAAAAAG!" The Scraggy would let out as it was sent flying, free of the machine's influence. It would hit the ground before scampering off. "Are you alright?" Josh asked Izumi as he looked over at the carnage. "Pika Pika...." Lightning responded, shaking his head at the spot of explosion. "It's best we get out of here" he said to them both as he would start to leave, Lightning remaining on his shoulder.
Meanwhile, a man hiding nearby would grit his teeth... This particular test of the machines had failed. He would sneak off to report to the higher ups...
