It had been a while since Andrea had done something together with her little—more like younger brother—and after what he was planning to do, he certainly needed a break! Hoping that he was game enough to at least attempt something in the spirit of Halloween, she then decided to check out the Kalosian attempt at getting in on the black-and-orange fun; namely, it was a maze that had who-knew-what was waiting inside. After sending him a message to meet him just outside Laverre—because that was where the maze was apparently set up; and she couldn’t go in alone—she had decided to bring along her two best; which was Max and Lexie. They were her best and closest companions; and there was no way in hell she was going to get herself into any more trouble without them.
Plus, the maze is definitely going to be dark… might as well have a Fire-type along for the ride! She thought to herself as she waited against the entrance; she’d told her younger brother to just go straight to the maze entrance and bring two Pokémon with him. “Although, why the hell did it have to be just two?” she groaned to herself; secretly glad she’d chosen to go with her old favorites—because she had the best chance of survival with a Fire-type in a dark place; plus Lexie was there to bail her out of any tight spots if ever they came across any… “Where could he be?” she continued to wonder to herself as she then tapped a foot on the mucky ground; secretly glad she’d decided to wear another pair of boots instead of her most-beloved ones this time around. I hope he picks well, because honestly, I know Max is ready to become a Rapidash but… she continued to muse to herself as she re-read the ad one more time; it was a gaudily-decorated piece of paper declaring the “Sudowoodo Haunted Wood Walk” was open for all to see and experience for themselves!

Thomas had never been the sort to get into the "Halloween spirit" as it were. Hell, he never really was the kind of person who had much fun on the side, especially these days. Between business, raising his own Pokemon, and planning out his personal "quest", all he did was sneak a drink or two in on the side from time to time. So when Andrea asked him if he could explore some haunted maze with her, it was a tough choice for him.
Ultimately, one he decided to go with. He intended to have his Pokemon do something fun anyway, if one could call this fun, and go with them. Sadly, there was a limit of two Pokemon to be brought with them, so Thomas ultimately decided on bringing over Bubbles and Ripper, two of his most trusted Pokemon. And while it was strange to bring along his most bloodthirsty Pokemon, who would've been more fitting for one of the scares than a guest's company, Bubbles was more of a "fun" Pokemon anyway, and would probably appreciate the experience more than her savior and friend.
Thankfully, both seemed excited for the trip, which caught Thomas a bit off guard. But then, if there were battles to be had, he knew that Ripper would be all over it.
After arriving in Lavarre, Thomas spotted his sister from a distance, accompanied by a Milotic and a Ponyta. The trainer walked up to his older sister, his two companions trailing behind him. The trainer was clad in old, slightly tattered clothing, but still in good enough condition to keep him warm enough through the autumn night.
"Sorry I'm late, some last minute stuff to take care of before I could get here...", Thomas told his older sister. Andrea would notice that the Azumarill that accompanied him was the same one as she met in his apartment back in Castelia City. In any case, the Azumarill remembered the coordinator, and ran up to give her a hug, crying out cheerfully as she approached her trainer's older sister.

The moment Andrea saw him approaching, her eyebrows shot up for a few moments before resting again—why was he wearing battered old clothing? She made a mental note to ask him about it later; but then her line of vision traveled down to his footwear—it was something sturdy; and made for running. Good. Considering that we might have to run away from who-knows-whatever is waiting for us in there… she thought to herself as she then saw that he was accompanied by a very cute water-bunny (which she recognized as an Azumarill) that she’d already encountered back in Castelia, who then made a beeline for her and then hugged her leg! “Looks like she’s happy to see me,” she began with a chuckle, reaching down and giving the affectionate Pokémon a pat on the head.
“Heh, better late than never,” she added with a chuckle—her Ponyta then took a cautious sniff at the young man; before bowing its head in greeting. The Milotic then looked sideways to the Scyther—or was it a Scizor—and then looked at her; with a questioning look. “Is it just me… or isn’t that Scizor supposed to be… on the red side?” she asked, spinning a flashlight in her hands as she tried to get it to work. “Ehh, answer me that later—at least his coloration would work well in there,” she continued, pointing to the entrance. “Shall we get started, then?” she asked a few moments later, taking the lead and still trying to get the flashlight to work. Was it intentional for the organizers to have issued faulty flashlights, or something? Who knew?

The Azumarill cried out cheerfully as Andrea gave her a pat on the head. After hugging her trainer's older sister, she ran back over to Thomas' side, smiling at him cheerfully. The trainer himself didn't give any sudden movements as the Ponyta sniffed him. Thankfully, the bow on the head as a greeting seemed to mean that he didn't find Thomas to be a threat to his master's welfare. Thomas nodded to the Ponyta in response.
When questioned about the Scizor's blackened coat, Thomas let out a chuckle. But before he could tell her anything, she told him to withhold answering the question, noting that he blended into the area well enough. And even though it might make it harder for him to locate, Thomas knew that Ripper was more than capable of tracking him, and keeping up with him, or if needed, finding him.
"Yeah, I'm ready for this...", Thomas replied to his sister as the two started down the path, the trainer right behind the older coordinator.
Andrea had taken the lead in the crazy maze that they were going to be traversing through, but what she did not realize that right from the moment that they’d stepped inside—that things would start happening! She could feel all the hair on the back of her neck standing up—it was like someone, or something was watching them. I don’t know who, I don’t know what, but whatever this is, this is ugly… and bad. Why can’t I keep that weird feeling to myself… she thought as she looked around—and was met with her younger brother’s face. “Crap. We haven’t even gotten too far away and…do you hear…that?” she dropped off tentatively, cupping a free hand to her right ear and then standing as still as she could manage. The Ponyta and the Milotic looked at their mistress, quite confused at first—when their own ears prickled up; and the Fire Horse started moving around quite skittishly—getting agitated about something it could scent on the air!
“Zam… zam… zam…”
“Wha—what the hell…?!” she blurted out, quickly quieting down in order to be able to hear just what was making that weird noise.
“Zam… zam… zam…”
She then looked at Max, and was wondering—why was the mane of fire from his back not burning quite as brightly?! “Max… can you make your fire burn brighter, please…?” she said in a shaking voice, as the weird echoing noise that was chanting “Zam… zam… zam…” reverberated over their heads. “Ta? Ponyta… ponyta?!” she heard the Fire Horse exclaim; because no matter how hard he tried to make his fiery mane burn, it wouldn’t go any brighter! Not to mention the weird chanting was getting awfully close…
“Tom. I can’t believe that I’m going to say this…RUN!!!” she ended with a screech as she then looked at Max, and was silently wishing he was a Rapidash—she’d just hop on him and then make a mad dash away from the source of the reverberating “Zam… zam… zam…” noise!

As Thomas stepped into the dark forest with Andrea, something felt horribly wrong with the place. As he looked around, he could see that his older sister's Ponyta was already reacting to the forest. Specifically, that its flames were dimming down. There was no way that was voluntary on the fire horse's part, unless it was a Pokemon who got a rise out of messing with his master.
Thomas heard the chanting. It sounded like a strange take on Alakazam's cry, and it was getting closer.
Thomas looked behind them as Andrea addressed the diminished flames of the Ponyta, and the fact that he couldn't make them burn any brighter for some reason. From the darkness and distance, it seemed to be an Alakazam, but something seemed... wrong about it.
When Andrea told him to run, Thomas immediately started to gun it away from the abomination that approached them. Ripper and Bubbles followed their master, with Ripper picking up the aqua rabbit and starting off with an Agility-boosted dash. Though the Azumarill was a pretty heavy creature, for something like a Scizor, she wasn't much of a problem for him anyway.
Andrea was too busy running, she didn’t realize that her Milotic had apparently lagged behind and was now gathering a burst of arctic energy and firing it just as Thomas had shot past it. “Lexie! No time to get feisty, get moving! Now!” she shouted and waited until the Tender ‘mon fired off an Ice Beam into the darkness—even the Ponyta had tarried behind long enough to wait until the Milotic had caught up with them—and they continued to run through the darkness, noticing that the weirdly-colored Scizor had picked up the Azumarill and had rocketed forward with something that looked like whenever she wanted to have her Ponyta speed up. “Yeah, let’s keep running!” she shouted again as she tore ahead, the adrenaline really giving her a rush as of the moment. After crashing through the place, she saw that there was another path, and then pointed at it, “Let’s go this way!” before abruptly changing direction and slithering through the “secret passageway”.
What she was not expecting, however…
…was the fact that upon emerging from the shortcut they’d taken, there was something else waiting for them! It looked like a huge moth; only thing was that the head was all wrong… and it looked like some perverse form of a certain moth-class creature whose name she could not recall due to the fright! “CRAP! WHAT’S THAT?!” she screeched, coming to a stop, hoping that Tom wouldn’t crash into her by mistake because… it was flying right towards her at this very moment! Just as the weird thing swooped over them, the Milotic had managed to swerve forward and then blasted another Ice Beam attack right at the incoming…creature thing that was flapping its wings quite violently. “KEEP RUNNING!” was all she had time to yell out, continuing to tear through the area…

Thomas was too busy running for his life from the mysterious abomination tailing them to notice the fact that his older sister's Milotic decided to attack whatever it was that was tailing them, much to her chagrin. Thankfully, Andrea would be able to get her Milotic on the move before it could be a problem.
In any case, due to a lack of light source, Thomas almost missed the path, until Andrea pointed it out. Thankfully, he was able to still quickly duck into the path, running besides Andrea, Ripper and Bubbles behind him as hey ran for dear life.
Unfortunately, some Venomoth-like abomination with the wrong head waited for them. Andrea didn't have to remind him what to do, as he and his two Pokemon immediately ran away from the mysterious creature.
"Dear Arceus, what the fuck are those thing!?", Thomas asked out loud, but not in a yell, quiet enough to the point where depending on how well Andrea was listening in, it would come off as a fast mumble.
She knew that her brother was trying his best to keep up with her—and then it dawned on her why he was wearing such old, battered clothing. “I don’t know, I’m pretty sure they don’t have the technology to bring fucking Mothra to life from the movies now do they?!” she said, having heard his sudden exclamation of surprise—that sounded like disgust as well. With the violent flapping of wings reverberating around them, she then saw that their path led along a darkening passageway; and while she was running, she shook the flashlight in her hands as hard as she could—because even her Ponyta couldn’t make the flames on his mane burn brighter no matter how hard he tried! After tearing through the passageway… was it just her, or was she hearing things again…?
“…uel… ruel… cruel…”
Oh, not this again! She thought to herself, smacking a palm to her forehead as her dash slowed down to a complete stop and she just stood there, trying to pick up the source of the noise… and from the looks of things, it was coming from up ahead! Andrea then snapped her head to face forward, shining the faltering beam of the flashlight into the darkness ahead—and what she saw almost made her want to hit her head against a wall. “Geez, first it was Mothra, now it’s C’thulhu?” she said, an extremely exasperated tone in her voice—and then the tentacles started thrashing around wildly, trying to get hold of her! “Oh, hell no, you are NOT touching me!” she screeched, slapping away the approaching… appendages, as her Milotic then rushed forward and blasted another beam of arctic energy at the abomination… “Come on; let’s get out of this place! We have to keep going forward!”
The tentacles were definitely everywhere now—and she continued to rush forward, being ever so careful not to slip or get herself caught—because once she did, she knew it was going to be “game over” for her!

Though the dark made things a little bit difficult for the trainer, he was able to keep up with his older sister. In any case though, he wasn't having any problems with his stamina, not like he would've when he was much younger. Even then, life on the road had ironed such problems out. And it was a good thing he went for older clothing. Even if he wasn't anticipating having to outrun and outmaneuver mysterious abominations in "semi-advanced darkness", he still knew that he was probably going to come out of the forest dirty today.
That was, if he managed to come out of there alive.
In any case, what looked like a mix between a Tentacruel and a Weepinbell jumped out at them, causing the group to bolt once again.
As Thomas ran, he couldn't help but wonder what the fuck those things were. Were they mere illusions, automatons built by some maniac, or perhaps the work of a mad scientist? But either way, all he could do now was just run for dear life with his sister. After all, she was the one with both light sources right now, so he couldn't afford to get separated from her.

Thankfully, as they pelted forward into the darkness, there were no more things chasing them—at least to her knowledge. The weird, spazzing noise of a twisted Tentacruel-like abomination had faded into the distance, and Andrea then bent over in order to be able to catch her breath. She didn’t realize that it was the adrenaline that was keeping her going; and now that all the fight had gone out of her, she then pitched forward as far as she could without tripping over, taking deep breaths. The Milotic had managed to catch up to them; while the Ponyta was now looking around with a very worried look on his face—and he was the first one to notice that something was wrong with his mistress. “Ta… Ponyta. PONYTA?!” she heard the Fire Horse ‘mon exclaim—and then that was when she looked down.
For some weird, inexplicable, unexplainable reason…
Her hands were glued together. “Wha… Tom!” she let out a shriek of surprise—as the flashlight then slipped loose from her rather clumsy grip… and she then flailed around as much as she could, trying to get her own hands unstuck. The flashlight that had slipped from her grip was now tumbling to the floor; and if it wasn’t for her quick thinking, she then used her right foot to catch the thing before it rolled away from them and got lost in the darkness. She then used the force of spinning her body around to actually kick the flashlight into the air, watching as the faltering light struggled to flicker back on, and she shouted, “Tom, catch the flashlight! I… I can’t hold it! You have to hang on to it for now!” as she continued to flail around and tried to unstick her hands!
