Nostalgic references aside, Josh took a breath as he stepped into Zone 4 of the Safari Zone, looking for a certain Pokemon. Meeting William, a Pokemon Professor and expert on Fossil Pokemon had inspired him to really work to try and find one of his own. Of course, he'd seen Tyrunt in the past... But he'd missed him last time. Hopefully, he could find that Tyrunt from before and catch him this time. Of course, Josh knew it was a gamble as he walked around, all senses on high. It was very likely he wouldn't find it, but he was persistent. Josh wasn't going to let it escape him this time.

Lightning walked alongside Josh, obviously curious as to if they would find some new and interesting Pokemon or not. "Pika?" Lightning chirped as he peeked into the grass. "Do you see something, Lightning?" the blonde asked as he poked into the grass. "Huh... I don't see anything" he said, giving a sigh. "Maybe we could put some food down for it?" he suggested. "I'm sure some Pokemon food would attract Pokemon" he said pulled out some Pokemon food, placing it on the ground. The two would hide in the grass and wait...

An hour later, Josh and Lightning would... Wake up from a nap. It seems while waiting in the foliage for a Pokemon to fall for their trap, they accidentally dozed off. Josh let out a yawn as he sat up. "Aye.... Guess we dozed, huh Lightning?" Josh mumbled sleepily as he rubbed his eyes. "Piiiika... Piikaaaaa...." Lightning grumbled sleepily as he also sat up, mimicking his Trainer in the rubbing the eyes department.

"Any progress on the baiting plan-" Josh trailed off as he looked over at the plate of food that had been set up. It was gone! Something had snagged it while they were snoozing! "Oh damnit!" Josh cried out, shaking his head as he got up. Lightning noticed some Heatmor tracks, fresh, but didn't comment seeing as he was a Pikachu and he couldn't speak English anyway. Josh sighed. "I.... Guess we'll just have to keep looking" he said as he brushed the foliage off his clothes. "Come on Lightning" he said as they kept walking, stopping at the watering hole for a moment to wash their faces.

As the two drank from a watering hole, Josh heard the grass rustling. Lightning's ears perked up as he heard it, and he would withdraw his face from the water. "Pika?" he said as he looked around, trying to sense whatever had come within their midst. "Pika!" Lightning chirped to warn Josh as he pointed to the grass rustling. "Hm?" Josh responded as he looked back. Finally, something would come out of the grass... It was the Tyrunt from before!

"Hey, I know you!" Josh said, smirking a bit. "I saw you when I was here with Amber!" he greeted. The Tyrunt would look up at them warily. "Tyrunt!" it let out, obviously not trusting the travelers. He smiled faintly and plopped down another bowl, pouring some more food from earlier into it. "Go ahead, eat up. I made it myself" he offered with a small smile. "Ty?" it let out, sniffing it warily. The Tyrunt would eat a single pellet just to be safe, then looked up at Josh with a joyful look on his face. "Ty! Tyrunt Tyrunt!" he chirped before digging in as if it were starving.

Josh chuckled a bit. "Like it, do you?" he asked. "Ty! Tyrunt!" the dinosaur let out joyfully. "Well, if you want more, why don't you let us battle you?" Josh asked with a small smile. It was a respectful method to catching Pokemon, for sure. "Ty?" it questioned as he seemed to think about it. Finally, it would nod. "Tyrunt!" he chirped in approval.

"Alright, let's do it then!" Josh said, grinning excitedly.  "Lightning, you're up!" he called. "Pika Pika!" Lightning chirped excitedly. They'd been training quite a bit lately. Lightning had become one of Josh's serious go-tos in Pokemon battles, to the Pikachu's absolute joy.

BATTLE BEGIN!

Tyrunt's claws would glow as it would go for Dragon Claw to start the battle. "Dodge, Lightning!" Josh called quickly. The battle had begun indeed. "Pika!" Lightning responded as he leaped up to avoid it. "Flip!" Josh called, to which Lightning responded by somersaulting in the air and turning around in mid-air. "Agility!" he commanded. "Pika!" Lightning responded as he would start moving through the air at breakneck speed, getting faster and faster to where at times you couldn't even see him. "Divebomb it, Quick Attack!" Josh commanded. Lightning would nod and his speed would increase even more as he divebombed into a Quick Attack, hitting Tyrunt dead on and sending it back. 


"Alright, great job Lightning!" Josh called with a grin. Of course, as Lightning landed, neither of them would expect what would come next. The Tyrunt would get up and stomp it's foot on the ground. The ground would start rumbling and Josh raised an eyebrow. "Wait, what the fu-" he only managed to get out before being cut off by the ground splitting at a rapid pace around them, and the trail hitting both Lightning and Josh, sending them both flying back and crashing to the ground. 


"Ugh..." Josh muttered as he held his head. He felt sore, what in the hell was that? He sat up to see Lightning lying beside him. "Pika Pika..." Lightning whimpered weakly. Josh realized he'd been hit with a very powerful move only made stronger by the super effectiveness of Ground type moves to Electric types. "Can you still fight, Lightning?" Josh asked as he managed to get up. Lightning willed himself to get up and nodded. "Pika!" he replied in affirmative. 


Tyrunt had stopped when Josh had gotten hit, recognizing that the human wasn't supposed to be involved in the battle beyond giving his Pikachu commands. Josh would nod in thanks to Tyrunt before finding a raised platform, a large rock, to stand on so that Josh wouldn't be in the line of fire anymore should Earthquake be used again. 


"Alright, we can resume the battle" he reassured. 


Lightning and Tyrunt would nod, and Tyrunt seemed content to use Earthquake once again in order to wear the Pikachu down. As Josh saw him lift his foot, he would look over at Lightning. How could Lightning counter Earthquake? 


"Wait, that's it!" Josh thought to himself as he saw the foot come down. "Lightning, use Magnet Rise!" he commanded. "Pika!" Lightning responded as he would charge his energy, before unleashing it in a controlled explosion of energy, before a yellow aura would surround the Pikachu, causing him to float into the air. The Earthquake would miss entirely, with Lightning being in the air and the attack being unable to reach him. "Alright!" Josh complimented. That was the first time they had used Magnet Rise since buying those lessons... Josh hadn't been sure about the move, and had refrained from using it until now. It was more of a "Fuck it" thing then anything, but their little experiment had worked. Lightning was flying!


"This is going to get interesting now!" Josh said as Lightning would practice using his newly found flight, flying around the area a bit. Of course, the Tyrunt wouldn't let him fly around long before leaping into the air to get at the Pikachu, going for Crunch. "Dodge!" Josh called. "Pika!" Lightning responded as he flew out of the Tyrunt's range to avoid the Crunch. "Thunder Wave!" Josh called in order to take advantage. Lightning would nod and his cheeks would spark, sending out a jet of blue sparks that would fly toward the Tyrunt, who would jump back to avoid them. "Quick Attack!" Josh called. "Pika!" Lightning responded as he would divebomb again, this time using Magnet Rise. As his speed went up, Lightning wouldn't be able to stop himself as Tyrunt would leap up, it's little arms glowing as it would then smash Lightning with Dragon Claw, sending Lightning flying back. "Pika!" Lightning let out in pain. Josh took a breath, this had to end soon... This Tyrunt was tough. 


"Lightning, Nasty Plot! Then use Thunderbolt!" Josh called. "Pika!" Lightning responded with a nod as a glint in his eye appeared for a moment, before his cheeks would spark. "Pika.... CHUUUUUUUUUUUU!" he would let out as a heavy dose of Thunderbolt would shoot toward Tyrunt, who would jump back and dodge. "Again!" Josh called. "CHUUUUUUUUUUUUU!" Lightning went at it again as another jolt of electricity would shoot toward the Tyrunt, but to no avail. The Tyrunt would leap up toward Lightning, even higher this time and go for a Crunch. 


"Flip!" Josh called. Lightning would somersault through the air and dodge the Crunch. "Grab it's tail!" Josh added. "Pika!" Lightning called as he managed to get behind Tyrunt and grab the tail. As the two fell in the air, the Tyrunt would try and shake Lightning off with it's tail. Now was their chance. "THUNDER!" Josh called, knowing a short ranged Thunder, complied with Nasty Plot, would do the trick. Lightning's cheeks would spark wildly before he let loose. "Pika.... CHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!" he let out fiercely as the short ranged Thunder would hit Tyrunt full power, head on. As the two landed, Tyrunt seemed down and out, with Lightning laying beside it, exhausted.


"Go, Safari Ball!" Josh called as he threw the ball, watching it hit Tyrunt and bring it in with that red light... Hopefully it would work...
