POWER UP THE BASS CANNON
Within a blink of an eye, the Gardevoir was gone after the Aerial Ace had hit. Neither of them had time to react when the first Thunderbolt slammed down onto Cotton. The Altaria staggered in the air and shook her head. The Thunderbolt had taken a decent chuck out of her health, but that wasn't the end of his attack. Amber watched from the other side of the field and saw the Gardevoir reappear and fire off another. The second bolt came straight at her and Amber had to think quickly. "Cotton, Aerial Aces!" The Altaria was shocked by the incoming Thunderbolt, but upon hearing her commands she shot upward and sped towards the Gardevoir with an Aerial Ace, striking from it's side. She turned around again and white streaks followed her, going in again for another Aerial Ace onto the Gardevoir's back. She sped past the Gardevoir on the second attack and dropped to the ground, folding in her wings and staring up at the Gardevoir. Having landed on the ground, she rested and seemed to be recovering from the Thunderbolts.
Amber sighed. With the speed of Aerial Ace, she didn't expect for the Gardevoir to counter while Cotton was near. She wiped the sweat off of her forehead and held a smirk on her face. The battle was getting really heated now. She almost forgot about what was at stake, almost half way through the battle with the Garchomp she completely forgot that this was a tournament. Instead, she treated it like any other Trainer battle. Her nerves were calmed and she was thinking with her head now, and allowing her Pokemon to run off of instinct too. This was getting intense, but quite fun for her.

Zernebog was impressed. The girl did have some merit after all if her Altaria actually managed to push Prometheus that far by battering him with the same tactic that he used to annihilate his previous opponent. He could already feel his two aces twitching in their pokeballs, itching to be used to wreck the bird once and for all.
But not yet. He still had other tricks up his sleeve. In fact, he had already taken out one of them the second Amber made her order.
”Break.” Zernebog muttered in a voice much too low for anyone but the pokemon in his belt to hear as he quickly returned Prometheus to his pokeball right after the second Aerial Ace hit.
And with a burst of speed no one would expect from someone as large and burly as him, he released Achilles back onto the battlefield without even bothering to throw the ball like he normally would. The very instant Achilles touched the ground, the dragon triggered a massive Earthquake that shook the entire battlefield, coincidentally a moment after the Altaria started resting while she was still vulnerable to ground moves.
The purple land shark had a score to settle after being made to look like an idiot, and how else would he be able to better settle the score than by launching one large pointy rock right at the Altaria as well? No rest for the wicked, after all.

Success! The Aerial Aces had hit their mark, bringing the Gardevoir down in health. However, the Psychic type was quickly returned as Cotton landed on the ground. The Garchomp returned to the field, and the very instant he hit the ground the field began to shake violently. Both Amber and Cotton were taken by surprise as the Earthquake ripped apart the field, causing Cotton to brace herself for impact. She couldn't get into the sky again because she was still grounded, and it brought her dangerously low. Suddenly, the Garchomp launched another large rock at her and Amber had to act quickly. With another Pokeball in hand, she returned Cotton quickly and tossed the other onto the field. As she threw it, she shouted two words. "Stone Edge!"
The Pokeball popped, releasing a large Salamence onto the field. Instantly, Theseus slammed his tail into the ground and a large rock popped up in front of him, blocking the Stone Edge from the enemy Pokemon. The Salamence roared as he entered the field, staring down his opponent. His eyes shot a glare at him with his black eyes. Realizing the Garchomp's eyes were closed, Theseus let out an intimidating roar to warn his opponent about his presence. Amber regained her balance on her side of the field and stared up at Theseus with a grin. The Salamence glanced back at his Trainer and snorted, returning the grin on her face. "Okay, Theseus. How about we make some noise?" With that, Amber slapped her hands over her ears as Theseus growled in reply, a sly grin on his face.
The Salamence opened his mouth and let out a deafening roar that echoed through the stadium. Amber had noticed that the Garchomp had closed it's eyes, so there was no way the Garchomp itself could prepare for Theseus' move. There was a chance that Zenrbog would warn him though, but even then it was a sound based attack. She wondered exactly what he could go against that.

The pesky Altaria was finally out of the picture! That was good. Very good.
However, now Zernebog and Achilles had a Salamence to deal with. A loud Salamence that managed to intimidate Achilles with a roar even with the dragon’s eyes closed. Lowered attack? Drat.
But that wasn’t the biggest concern. That honor belonged to the girl’s first order as soon as the Salamence was out on the battlefield. Knowing that his voice wouldn’t carry over in time even though he was much closer to the Garchomp, he subtly moved his heel just a little bit as if he were nervous.
Having trained Achilles to be able to tell apart vibrations –a very useful trick given his typing and his normal habits- the dragon wasted no time in quickly diving into the ground and burrowing into it in a speed that indicated that he was born to do it. Which he was, of course. And just in time too, as the dragon managed to avoid the roar in time.
Unfortunately, the same couldn’t be said for Zernebog even though he tried his best to muffle the sound by putting his hands on his ears. He still caught some of it, making his hearing ring painfully. Frankly, he swore that he got more damage than his pokemon did for this battle….

Theseus' roar quieted down and Amber let her hands fall to her side. The Garchomp had dug it's way under the ground, dodging the Hyper Voice. The same couldn't be said for his Trainer though, who still had his hands on his ears. She couldn't help but smirk at the sight. It still rang in her ears, but she had gotten used to it by now. The Salamence stayed in the air, not wanting to land on the ground while the Garchomp was underneath. Amber knew there was no actual way to find where the Garchomp was, so she decided to take this chance and have Theseus power up.
"Theseus, Dragon Dance while we wait." She said simply, eyeing the ground carefully for any sign of the Garchomp. The field was already messed up from the Earthquake, but she would be able to see if the Garchomp was breaking out of the ground at least.
The Salamence circled in the air, a dark blue and purple aura surrounded him. He growled softly as he watched the field from the air above. Each time he circled, he gained increase speed. And his attack rose as well. After finishing his graceful dance in the air, he flew around waiting for the Garchomp to reappear. Both Amber and Theseus kept a careful eye out for any difference in the ground below.

Even though Zernebog’s ears were still ringing, he could recognize what the Salamence just used any day. Boosting moves this time? That meant that she had nothing to counter the invulnerable turn of dig with the Salamence or she would have already done it. After all she showed herself to be the very aggressive type.
That was good to know. One less thing to worry about from the dragon.
Zernebog shook off the ringing from his ears while moving his entire body in a specific yet random-looking pattern in the process. It was a bit more uncomfortable doing it with the new gauntlets he commissioned just for this tournament since he wasn’t used to them yet, but he managed. Besides, they were very much worth it with the multiple purposes for them that he had in mind.
A few seconds after that, Achilles emerged from behind the opposing trainer instead of from underneath the Salamence like some people in the audience may have been expecting, this time with his eyes open. But instead of attacking, he spun around in an intricate dance to boost his own morale from the intimidation instead. As he did so, he summoned another raging sandstorm to cover the entire arena through his vigorous movements.

Amber watched the ground carefully and couldn't see anything. And nothing could prepare her for what happened next. From behind her, the Garchomp emerged from the ground. Startled, she jumped and turned on her heels to meet the Pokemon's gaze. Theseus noticed this and growled angrily as the Garchomp danced and summoned another Sandstorm. He circled around in the sandstorm again, boosting himself even more. Amber shielded her eyes from the Sandstorm while it raged on, knocking Theseus around in the air. However, the Salamence shook it off and flew normally. Amber looked above head to see Theseus and backed up a bit from the Garchomp before calling out her next move.
"Aerial Ace and follow up!"
Theseus roared and tucked his claws in as he dove downward towards the Garchomp. With Aerial Ace's already high speed and the power up from Dragon Dance, it took only a few seconds before Theseus tried to strike the Garchomp head on. Then, the Salamence roared and lashed out with his right claw, which was glowing with a blue aura around his claws. Even if the Garchomp wanted to dig again to dodge, it would have to have instant reaction time. The Salamence was extremely past at this point with Aerial Ace and Dragon Dance combined, and he instantly struck with Dragon Claw too if he had hit his mark.
Amber jumped away from the scene and glanced over at Zenrebog with a sly smile on her face. Maybe she was getting over confident again and it would bite her in the ass. But she wanted to enjoy her little moment of glory while she could. Besides, it was a major confidence boost for her. Which her Pokemon could easily tell, giving them a bit of a confidence boost as well.

As the Salamence danced, Achilles danced as well. The Garchomp had a bad feeling of what was about to occur, and he wanted to be prepared just in case even though he had the sand going for him.
And he was right.
Outsped and outgunned by that blasted Aerial Ace, Hyperion’s favorite new move. It wasn’t something that happened to a Garchomp everyday, especially not Achilles. But it did, and now he was paying the price as it managed to hit the mark. However, very brief respite between the two moves allowed him a moment where he was able to see an opportunity that he wouldn’t have if he hadn’t switched on the sand.
Using the brief burst of speed his secret technique combined with the additional evasiveness the sand gave him, his body wavered and disappeared as the claw struck. He had managed to make an after image in time, but only enough to move him backwards a bit away from the claw’s reach. Immediately, he wasted no time in trying to smack the Salamence with a concentrated twister aimed at the other dragon’s gut while simultaneously putting even more distance between him and the other dragon.
Time. He needed a little more time….

Theseus flew past the Garchomp, who disappeared once the Dragon Claw had struck. Suddenly, he realized that the Garchomp was below him and he sped foward, dodging the Twister that came his way. The Twister flew upward and disappeared into the Sandstorm that began raging again, causing the Salamence to growl in annoyance at the storm. Amber's grin soon grew into a large smile. Perhaps Theseus was her ace. She shook her head and breathed heavily. No, she couldn't get ahead of herself again. There wasn't any room for her being over confident. The Garchomp stood in the storm, and Amber decided she was going to try to end the Garchomp's time in the battle right now.
"Aerial Aces!"
The Salamence roared, locking onto his target in the storm. Flying at high speed through the storm, Theseus attempted to strike the Garchomp from the front, then turning around and striking again with another Aerial Ace from the back. She could have told Theseus to only go with one, but she wanted to play it safe for now. Besides, Garchomp was only one Pokemon she had seen. Aside from the Gardevoir, she had no idea what other Pokemon Zenrbog had.

Despite Achilles’ natural optimism, it was hard for Zernebog to get infected with it at this point in time. Not with what was playing out before his eyes. In fact, he had already known that Achilles’ time was numbered the minute that the girl managed to put in all of those boosts to her Salamence. That was actually the same tactic he used to seal that Akira girl’s fate. If nothing else, it was nice to know that his strategy worked for other people and pokemon as well.
Some comfort. That was what he got for thinking this would be like the earlier round.
”G-gar….”
Unaware of his trainer’s thoughts, Achilles bore through the overwhelming pain enough to give the girl one last defiant smirk after the second strike hit him before promptly kneeling over and falling to the ground. He may have been beaten, but he would be damned if he didn’t go out without a parting message.
One way or another, his brothers will avenge him. Zernebog will make sure of that.
”You did great, Achilles.” Zernebog muttered with the same neutral expression on his face as he recalled the unconscious body back into its pokeball.
Zernebog actually smiled pleasantly at Amber, though anyone who really knew him back from his Arcane days knew that the smile was usually the one he gave to his victims right before he did something terrible to them. ”I suppose I should be letting out all of the tricks now, hm?”
He didn’t bother declaring Prometheus’ name as he called him from out of his pokeball, instead letting the weakened Gardevoir take note of the serious situation at hand as well as the words his trainer just uttered.
Instead, Prometheus’ eyes glowed an ominous crimson as he started chanting in a tongue only familiar to him and yet would make any other listener’s spine shiver and head ache at the sheer bizarre alien gibberish pouring out from the Gardevoir’s mouth. As if responding to the psychic pokemon’s words, the very air around them began to distort and darken as a room of energy began to build itself around the entire arena, warping the very dimensions around them as the desired effect settled in.
As soon as he had begun chanting though, he did something else as well. He pointed a hand at the Salamence and used his psychic power to try and immobilize it by raising it up in the air. Whether or not it succeeded, the Gardevoir would immediately launch a Moonblast at a speed much faster than he had previously done the last time he was sent out, the entire room rippling in the process.

The Garchomp fell and Theseus roared, quite happy about his victory over the enemy Dragon type. Amber jumped in place, yelling up to her Salamence. "Great job, Theseus!" She praised as Theseus growled softly. However, she shouldn't have been celebrating so soon. But one Pokemon was down, so that was a plus. One threat down, 5 more to go. Stopping her celebration, she noticed Zernebog had muttered a few words to the Garchomp was it returned with a blank expression. She couldn't help but scoff at her opponent. He seemed far too calm for what was going on. Not only did he smile at her, but he had this look in his eyes that told her she should be careful. The moment the Pokeball flew into the air, Theseus' muscles tensed.
Released again was his Gardevoir, who instantly began chanting as it entered the field. Amber felt uneasy, something didn't feel right. She felt as though that smile was more so a warning than a friendly gesture. And she was right.
The air around began to distort and darken, a large wall covered the entire arena and encased the battlers in a room of odd magic. Amber took a step back at the odd area, she felt like she knew what this was. Suddenly, Theseus felt his body become heavier and his legs not moving. He lowered himself to the ground and struggled to move at his normal speed. Then, he was lifted slowly into the air by the Gardevoir. His eyes widened at the incoming Moonblast and, before he was lifted completely into the air, he slammed his tail into the ground and a large rock popped up in front of him. The Stone Edge had blocked the Moonblast, his attack boost helping. The Salamence broke free from the Gardevoir's grip and dropped to the ground. Amber had a bad feeling about this, with his speed buff on him he was too slow for his own good.
"Return!" Amber held out his Pokeball and allowed the Salamence to be recalled by the red beam of light. She took off another one from her belt and tossed it onto the field, looking at her opponent. "I don't expect anyone to hold back against me." She said, as if daring him to come at her. The Pokemon released on the field opened its eyes as it took in the surroundings.
Emerald, Amber's Serperior, felt her body make a shift in weight and her muscles felt tightened. The Trick Room had taken effect onto her, and she made a sound as if she was concerned about the current situation. Amber smiled and nodded, aware of her Pokemon's nervousness. "It's alright, we got this. Safeguard up." She said, reassuring her Pokemon. Emerald nodded and closed her eyes. Her body and her side of the field began glowing in a faint white light, as a faint barrier appeared in the middle of the field, protecting her from any status ailments the Gardevoir was planning to make. Especially that Telekinesis. However, it didn't protect her against the raging sandstorm that was still left over from the Garchomp.

Blocked.
Normally, people would be pissed about being blocked. And it isn’t hard to imagine them becoming even angrier if they were bait-and-switched with another target since it tended to mess with their plans. Key word being normally.
For Zernebog, it took a lot of his self-control not to smirk victoriously and force his face to change to the neutral expression he had been wearing earlier. He didn’t know whether or not he would give himself away with the tone of his voice, so he recalled his Gardevoir as soon as the Serperior had been sent out.
He then took out a pokeball from his belt and released a blue and black humanoid jackal from its confines. Said humanoid jackal looked calm and serene as he bowed to the Serperior in respect, seemingly unbothered by the earlier events that had transpired around him while he was in his pokeball.
Once the jackal righted himself from his bow, he took a deep breath and exhaled before taking a fighting stance. Then one of his arms suddenly blurred as he threw a blue orb of energy at very high speeds right at the Serperior, starting the fight with a bit of flash. After all, he could do nothing less as a tribute to his brave fallen comrade, Achilles.
Diomedes would extract revenge for the fallen, that was for sure.

The Gardevoir swapped out again and Amber was on her toes. Emerald curled herself up while she waited for the next Pokemon to appear, and boy, she didn't like it. Released from the Pokeball was a Lucario, a Pokemon Amber has yet to battle or see in person. And she already didn't like where this was going. As it bowed, she quickly recalled Emerald and threw another Pokeball onto the field. As it popped, a familiar face appeared. Theseus came back onto the field, ready to fight. With his stats reset, he was no longer slow as hell. However, the Trick Room still slowed the Salamence down, but he was more or less still on equal terms with the Lurcario.
As it raised up, Theseus met his eyes and roared loudly, allowing the Lucario to know about his presence on the field. Then, the Lucario shot a Aura Sphere directly at him. Having no time to react or dodge, Theseus was hit with the Aura Sphere. He staggered backwards a bit, but just shook it off like nothing. He narrowed his eyes at the Lucario, as if to challenge him. As the Sandstorm raged on again, Theseus shut one eye while he waited for it to calm. And once it did, he made his move.
He shot up in the sky and spread his wings wide, hovering in the air. The sandstorm turned red and furious, raging around the battle field and the Lucario. The Salamence moved both wings together, creating a large gust that pushed two sides of the Heat Wave together, crashing in the middle and spreading out through the field. Amber watched the field carefully, curious of Zenrebog's next move. She couldn't help it, but she felt like she was being pushed into a slight corner now.

The annoying dragon was back. Granted, it took a hit from the Aura Sphere from Diomedes in the process of switching in, but it was annoying nonetheless. It was bound to be even more annoying given that Zernebog knew that it had at least one move to counteract his pokemon’s steel typing. One that he was sure that the girl would use instead of a more physical approach given the strange room they were in.
As if someone up there was laughing at him, the Salamence flew up to the sky and proceeded to start doing just that. Zernebog didn’t want to risk Diomedes taking that hit just yet so he quickly withdrew the Lucario from the battlefield and sent out a large blue and brown turtle with cannons on his back onto the field.
It was just in time too, as the blue dragon sent out a massive wave of heated wind from both sides of the battlefield, intending to squish the Blastoise in the middle. Zernebog just had the thing for this, and it was something that almost never seen done with his pokemon. ”Hydros! Give it back!” Zernebog ordered.
In response, two large mirrors formed around Hydros and absorbed the waves of heat, but not without hurting the large blue turtle in the process. The mirrors then shattered and released two huge and very fast gusts of heated wind right back at the Salamence, this time by intending to hit it in a two-pronged attack like the dragon had just done to the turtle.

As Theseus called forth the Heat Wave, Amber noticed from across the field that the Lucario had been recalled. It wasn't like she wasn't expecting that, two Heat Waves from Theseus would most likely have meant the end of the Lucario before it could even get into the battle. However, what came out after the Lucario had Amber a bit worried. A Blastiose stood in place of the Lucario, just in time as the walls crashed down onto it. The Blastiose suddenly was surrounded in a bubble, two large pink barriers covered him as the Heat Waves hit. Absorbing the Heat Wave, the Mirror Coats had sucked up most of the damage for the Blastiose. Suddenly, they shattered and the Heat Wave was bounced right back. Theseus quickly flapped his wings, creating two large Heat Waves in response to the attack being bounced back. The moves clashed in the middle and disappeared. The Sandstorm raged once more, causing Theseus to narrow his eyes.
As he lowered himself to the ground, Theseus shot a glance back at Amber. She nodded, approving of what Theseus had in mind. After getting his approval, Theseus spread his wings wide again, calling forth another large wind from behind. It turned red and furious, swirling around the Blastiose. As foolish as a move this seemed against the Water Pokemon, Amber hoped her odds were in her favor. That's all she needed from this. However, something didn't sit well with her. A majority of Water types knew that one move that screwed over all Dragon types. So Amber felt like Theseus would be best off keeping his distance for the mean time.
