There was more then you could bargain for in this far away place. He had heard about that Famous Treasure. It started on his favorite radio broadcast, Professor Oak's Pokémon Talk, who had a report on the discovery of severals ruins on one of the many islands of Sevii. Then came the new broadcast on the T.V. and then the fliers...greed was a strong motivation. The ruins were mostly left to explore to just about everyone in the world. They were tales of unfounded treasure but also of unresolved mysteries.
What had happen in here, of all place? James before the ruin's entrance. The gates of the City of Steel were partially crumbled. James could see that the stonework was partially cracked in some places while the local vegetation managed to made is way trough the stone, while still maintaining the original design...except for a few loose stone who were lying on the ground. The stone arch seem to came out of the lush, jungle vegetation, like an open maw ready to swallow any intruders. Getting close to it, James could see that the stony wall had some kind relief, a design that was almost lost with the passage of time and the various rains storms.
An abnormal number.
James could tell, not because it was obvious but also because of the various he had read over the past two months he put on for the preparation of this journey. He was well prepared. He was stocked on food and water, on equipment too. He didn't take any chance now, and he was physically fit too. All of his sense were focus and sharp today. Of the three ruins he could choose to explore, he had chosen the most dangerous of them all.
I wonder if the unreasonable amount of rain is cause by a Pokemon of some sort, by a natural occurrence of some sort or could it because of an forbidden action of the previous occupants? Whatever the cause, there maybe a mystery to solve.
While others were attracted by the possible profit and fame they could found here, James was more interested by the mysterious nature of these ruins. His natural curiosity took precedence over anything. While he was anxious by the ruined state of the city that was before him, as he made his way past the gate of the city, James couldn't but smile at the prospect of this adventure. The city was a marvel in it's design, and he almost fail to realize the danger that stood before him.
The tree stony pillar had something intriguing. The middle one was definitely more taller then the other two and he could see the various runes that was covering the rocky formation. It was raining as usual and the flat area provided by the stony ground was quite...slippery. If it wasn't for it's inborn reflexes, James would have slided on the ground. That didn't meant he was out of trouble yet. Well it was true that he was still on his feet, he was quickly forced to try and dodge a falling rock from the right most pillar. As soon as he had press his hand on the pillar to keep his feet grounded, he heard a loud crack. The inferior part of the pillar collapsed under the pressure of his hand while the superior part of the pillar was falling over him.
Once again, his reflexed were tested has James jump and got out of the way to fall on pile of rubble, not too far from the group of pillars...well, what was left of it.
''That was a clause call. Need to be more careful around here.'' he said while taking a small pause to catch his breath.
It would seem he would have to be more careful around here...

Golden light, tunnel white. If I run to you, would you stay? I might be a prototype, but we’re both real inside.
Steel City.
When Zernebog had first heard about from his mother –who in turn had heard about it from a radio station of all things- he was pretty skeptical about it. After all, he had personally never been to ruins that were actually built in times near the present. He was far more used to truly ancient ruins like the ones he had visited in Sinnoh and the other region he used to work in. In his personal opinion, there was more challenge and a lot more to learn about the older ruins because they were more shrouded in the mists and ravages of time.
His jaw had actually dropped at his mother’s insistence that he go into these particular ruins first before going into any of the other ones of this island. He tried to talk her into letting him take one of the other ruins and even suggested that if she wanted to do a preliminary look into the area so much then she should do it herself. However, all of his arguments and suggestions were shot down in short order despite the sense they had.
That was why Zernebog was staring down the crumbling, worn stone gate covered –well, more swallowed up really- by the local flora with a calculating look in his eyes. He was absentmindedly rubbing the straps of his backpack in thought, with an odd weight that seemed to be lightly pressing down on his chest.
Beside him, Prometheus was staring at the ruins with a curious frown. There is a strange, melancholic feeling lingering in the air….
Underneath Zernebog’s bandana, one of his eyebrows rose at that observation. That’s weird. Explains the heavy feeling in my chest. It’s not gonna stop me from going through with this though. A ruin is a ruin.
Just do remember to be careful…. Zernebog’s lips quirked up, but he said nothing in response. Instead, he simply walked through the open gates.
As he entered the city, he seemed to be strolling through while his pokemon walked beside him with an almost unearthly grace. However, looking more closely would reveal that his eyes were alert and focused, always scanning the surroundings for anything that might be a pitfall or a trap, while his movements were light and carefully calculated as to make sure that he didn’t accidentally break anything out of a clumsy move and bring the ruins down on his head.
However, not everyone was as graceful as he was.
CRASH! Rumble… CRASH! Frowning, Zernebog looked over to the source of the sound. Somehow, he wasn’t surprised to see some blond guy staring at a pile of rubble that still had dust rising from its remains. Must be an amateur.
He resisted the urge to sigh and simply subtly gestured towards the blond haired man, knowing that his Kirlia would know what he meant. He then began to approach the other man, already thinking of ways to try and dissuade the amateur from continuing on further in a place that was unstable as this.
”That you do.” Zernebog couldn’t help but comment as he stopped a few feet away, crossing his arms. ”Especially if you get in trouble at the easiest part of any ruin- the entrance.”
''I wouldn't be here if I wasn't expecting trouble and my expectation would be deceive if it was that easy.'' said James while gaging the newcomers and his Pokemon, a Kirlia. From what he could deduce, that trainer, more likely an experienced explorer, wasn't someone who was very patient with a newcomer like James.
''I heard it was quite slippery around here, mostly likely due the rain. I wasn't expecting this stone to act almost as an icy floor. Lets say I have learned by lesson harshly...a pity that this place had to pay for my mistake.''
Said James while watching the last two standing pillars, the still standing monolith of the past. Its voice had a sad and sincere note behind it. ''I wonder...'' said James while getting closer to one of the pillars, this time being careful with each footstep and keeping his eyes alerted to any unwelcome obstacle along the way. ''Ah, interesting'' he said while finally understanding the various design on the leftmost pillar. ''It would seem that the inhabitants of this city worshiped a vast quantity of Pokemon, judging by the fine details...or what use to be fine details and the passioned handwork they put to create these structures.''
I wonder if they are still alive to guard this place. Like if we didn't have enough of the danger of these ruins...
James let out a long yawn before noticing a familiar shadow. Slowly emerging from James shadow, Ren, made himself known to the others.
''Haven't seen you in a while. How was the scouting?''
''Saabllleee.'' said the ghost Pokemon with a grin.
James nod once, as if understanding what the Pokemon was saying. ''So it is confirmed. Not surprising, giving the state of this ruins. We will have to be extra careful. It seems there are several location were we will have to walk a narrow passage with quite a deep chasm bellow. It seems the inhabitants of the city liked to construct bridge and such to connect some part of the city. From what my friend Ren could gather, the main plaza is in front of us. Then, there three other main bridge we can use to travel to different location. Of course, Ren hasn't scouted all the way. He stopped at the plaza to himself a snack.'' said James with a frown. Which immediatly replaced with a smile.
''It seem I forgot my manners. My name is James. James Smith. This here his Ren. Keep any precious stone away from his greedy paws. He will munch on them if he can.'' said with a smirk. ''And I said we, but I'm not entirely sure about whether or not you wish to tag along the way. ''I may not look like it, but I can be pretty reliable. So, what's it gonna be?'' said James with a now serious look. Hopefully, if the other guy didn't want to tag along, he could continue his journey inside the ruins. Otherwise, he had the feeling he could learn a lot from that men.

Golden light, tunnel white. If I run to you, would you stay? I might be a prototype, but we’re both real inside.
Fortunately for Zernebog, he was wearing his ever-present bandana on this expedition. Otherwise, the other trainer might have seen the eyebrow that rose at his statement. Was this guy some sort of daredevil or something? He had been under the impression that he was more of a treasure hunter with his looks and get-up… but then again, looks can be deceiving. He only needed to look into a mirror to remember that.
Or not. Zernebog’s other eyebrow rose when the blond man continued on, blaming the fact that he didn’t know that wet rocks were almost as slippery as ice or that mossy rocks were even worse. So he wasn’t just an amateur, but he was an amateur that had obviously never trekked in this kind of environment before.
Just great. Maybe he was one of those treasure hunters after all.
He was so amused yet irritated about what he had heard that he almost missed the last part of his sentence. Fortunately for the blond man, he managed to catch it. That was the only thing that saved him from a tongue-lashing.
Now normally, he wouldn’t care about property damage. He’s caused more than his fair share over the years, after all. It was part and parcel of being a trainer. However, this was a special case. He was an archaeologist, and therefore he valued ruins like these even though he had his misgivings. One of the worst sins to commit against people like him would be to trash places like these. If he did it deliberately and didn’t regret it –or Arceus forbid, enjoy it- then they were going to have words. Or he was just going to smash his face in. He wasn’t picky.
Zernebog simply crossed his arms and held his tongue as he watched the blond man approach one of the other pillars. His eyebrows furrowed when he heard the inferences –he refused to acknowledge them as facts- that the man was spouting out just by looking at it. Really now? An amateur that probably had absolutely no background in the place, the language, or even Archaeology in general spouting off all of that speculative bull just like that wasn’t going to sound believable at all.
Besides, can’t he tell that the architecture in the area resembled something they might find in older areas of Kanto? The maze of apartment buildings, stairs, and streets further down was unmistakable, even when weathered by time and weather and consumed by nature. Their relative modernity should be even more obvious, especially given the fact that even from here, he could see faint air-conditioning slots on the sides of the buildings.
”Or it could be just some design that an artist found pretty and decided to put on there.” Zernebog deadpanned as he strode towards the pillars as well, walking over the slippery rocks effortlessly. ”Can’t just assume, you know. There’s a lot more to figure out before you can start drawing out conclusions.”
Then the other guy yawned. ”Sleepy already? You just started.”
Before he was able to say anything else though, something emerged from the guy’s shadow. Some small purple creature with gems for eyes. Sableye, if he remembered right. Yeah, Sableye. Hard to forget something that frequently terrorized him back in Hoenn years ago.
He was tempted to have his Kirlia assault that thing just to get to it before it gets to them, but he only had one or two moves in his arsenal that might actually injure the damn thing. Besides, it seemed that the Sableye belonged to Blondie, so he was going to hold off on attacking it… for now. Watching him extrapolate all of that from one word was pretty amusing though.
”Did you really get all that from two syllables or are you assuming again?” Zernebog chuckled and shook his head. He was still skeptical, but if he let this get to him too much then he might just go crazy, so taking the calm approach might be best. ”Well, if you’re right, then thanks for the info. If you’re wrong… well, probably no harm done.”
”Right. I forgot mine too. I think I left it in that hotel room.” Zernebog joked before smirking. ”Anyways, I’m Romanov. Zernebog Romanov. Just call me Zerne if you find that too hard to say.”
He then waved a hand at his shiny Kirlia. ”And my buddy over here is Prometheus.”
”A pleasure to meet you both, Mr. Smith, Ren.” Prometheus replied both mentally and vocally in his native pokemon language with a curtsy, knowing that his telepathy wouldn’t be able to penetrate the Sableye’s mind.
”And as for tagging along with you… nah.” Zernebog shrugged, smirking. ”I’ve got work to do. But you’re free to tag along with me instead if you want. You might learn something.”
He then threw back James’ question right at him. ”So what’s it gonna be?”
''It would seem I was dead wrong in some, if not all aspects. This is, as close as it can be, a modern city after all. I just have a wild imagination. And I was expecting something more ancient, but if I wanted something like that, I would have gone to one of the other ruins...but, out of all three, I was drawn here. I would guess that a veteran such as yourself would be less interested by a ruin like this.'' said James while both of his arms embrace the whole ruin. ''And sorry about the yawning, my dream were assailed by visions of this place and you could say that I'm not as well rested as I could be.'' said James with a mysterious voice, hoping that Zernebog would understand what he was implying with that.
''What's wrong with assuming? It's not like I can't verify what Ren just said. But, in any case, I've listen to the radio broadcast which talked about this ruin in details. Ren just confirmed that part, with just a few syllables, like you said. And if he was hungry, I would have know by now. Since I haven't found a psychic Pokemon whom I can speak too in equal terms like your Kirlia, I had to find other means to understand Ren.'' said James while wondering what kind of property damage, if any, his Sableye had done while getting himself a snack along his scouting operation.
''Hmpf, maybe I should send Drip next time.'' said James to himself. He was wondering what he should do next while his thoughts were assailed by an alien mind.
”A pleasure to meet you both, Mr. Smith, Ren.” he heard in his head. Well, that was a first. It was intrusive, at best, but not at all unpleasant. Yet, James had no idea on how to reply to this kind of greetings. Telepathy wasn't something he was able to use at the moment, but at least he was sure he could somehow to do it in the future, if he could feel it with his psychic powers. ''Likewise, its a pleasure to meet you both, Zernebog and Prometheus.'' Strange how those name sound foreign in his tongue. He wasn't sure if his pronunciation was correct, but it didn't seem to matter.
The Sableye was strangely calm today, as all it did was stared at the Kirlia. It nodded once, and James could tell that the Ghost Pokemon understood the Kirlia's greeting.
Then the newcomer made it quite obvious that he wanted things to go on his own terms. Frankly, James could blame him for wanting things to go his own way. He was, after all, far more experience then he was. An archaeologist, maybe? But then, Sableye reaction gave way to James answer, before it could leave his lips. The Ghost Pokemon's aura had change from passive to aggressive in a matter of seconds, while the Pokemon was following what the two humans were saying. It was subtle, but James understood what his Pokemon was thinking. Prometheus would surely be able to detect it. ''The way you send back my own question is quite funny indeed, but I think I'll decline for now. Beside, I'm sure I'll be more of a burden to you then anything else. It's true that I could learn a lot from you, but judging from my Sableye's reaction, I think it would prove tedious and quite unpleasant. In short, not funny at all.'' said James with a neutral voice, but his face was still smiling.
What Ren couldn't said was said by his own master. And while James could return is Ghost Pokemon to his Pokeball to prevent a fight and tag along with Zernebog, Ren's freedom of movement was at stake and since it was rare for James to let his Ghost Pokemon roam freely without any sort of inconvenience the sight of his Pokemon could create, he preferred to go solo for now. And beside, it's not like Zerne had been a welcoming person so far. ''I think I've said enough for now. I wish you good luck with your endeavor. Come on, let's get going Ren. Hopefully, we will gather enough clues to understand what caused this city to have this unnatural number of rain storms.'' and while both the trainer and his Pokemon carefully made there way trough a road that went east alongside the city. Shortly after there departure, it started to rain. ''So, you went that way huh. There's nothing special over there Ren. Just the modern feeling you could have by going to any other city. Yet, it's awfully quite in here. I bet thats why you wanted us to go that way. It's your kind of place, isn't it?'' said James while smiling at the Sableye.
''Sablllleeee.'' Ren had spotted something in the distance. A natural alcove who had been modified to act as a small shelter. Probably to protect the pedestrian from the rain. ''Well, we could stop and wait for the rain to stop there.'' But it was almost pointless for to James to say so when he saw his Pokemon sit on the bench. It was funny view to see a Pokemon act like human. Strange at the same time, since the Pokemon wasn't affected by the weather in any way, if he wanted too. He still think about my well being. Maybe he is trying to repay his debt? In any case, James sat next to his Pokemon, staring outside the shelter, as the rain transformed into a downpour.

Golden light, tunnel white. If I run to you, would you stay? I might be a prototype, but we’re both real inside.
James had a point. If he hadn’t been ordered to come here, he would have gone to explore one of the other ruins instead. But it would make him look bad if he actually admitted that, so he just shrugged. ”I have my reasons.”
Visions? It didn’t take long for one of Zernebog’s eyebrows rose again. Is he implying what I think he’s implying with that mysterious man act of his?
His words and actions were starting to paint a very different picture to the one he had initially imagined. There still wasn’t enough information to give him the complete picture, of course, so he held back from making any assumptions. Instead, he continued to listen to Blondie as he continued to try and explain his earlier actions. Once the man was finally done with his long-winded statement, he finally answered back.
”Haven’t you heard? Assuming makes an ass out of you and me.” Zernebog held up his hands and smirked. ”Not even educated guesses are safe from that, though they have a better chance of proving that saying wrong.”
As Zernebog talked, Prometheus simply stared unblinkingly at the human and the Sableye, watching and observing their every move. It was a tad paranoid, yes, but more often than not necessary considering the types of people that usually came here that weren’t archaeologists, like thieves or scoundrels that often tried to rob them.
It was a good thing he did too, because both he and his trainer saw the Sableye adopt a far more aggressive stance. It seemed that the ghost was very protective of his charge. How curious. If the guy agreed to journey with them and the Sableye continued to act like that for the entire thing, then they could both already predict that this was going to suck. Hard.
Thankfully though, he declined the offer. Good. No weights to drag him down or ask silly questions then. ”Yeah, good luck to you too for… whatever it is you’re here for.” Zernebog shrugged and waved the guy off before turning around and going on his merry way, pretending to be disinterested and not happy like he really was.
”Farewell. May your journey be pleasant.” Prometheus gave them a polite wave and followed after his trainer.
Soon enough, it began to rain. This forced Zernebog to take out his hat and place it on his head so that he could actually see while walking in the ruins. Prometheus, on the other hand, didn’t mind the rain at all and continued to walk unhindered.
It didn’t take long for the pair to find trouble after parting ways with Blondie and his guard dog.
Intruders… turn away now. A cold, monotonous voice hissed inside their minds. You are trespassing.
Prometheus frowned as he detected a massive wave of hostility paranoia washing over them. Trespassing? We were not aware that anyone owned this abandoned city.
Ignorance is not an excuse. Something with glowing eyes started to emerge from the shadows. Leave now, or face the consequences.
Zernebog had enough of the ominous voice talking in his head. ”Bring it, punk! I’m not afraid of you or anything that this city’s gonna throw at me!”
Very well. The figure in the shadows had fully emerged now, revealing itself to be a Lunatone. You have been warned.
The Lunatone gazed up into the air. A second later, large amounts of rock and mud started to rain down upon both the trainer and his Kirlia. In response, said trainer quickly scrambled out of the way while the Kirlia teleported out of the way, the latter of which leaving behind a barrage of sparkling leaves that immediately homed in at the Lunatone.
The leaves managed to hit their mark, making the light in the Lunatone’ s eyes sputter and the torrent of rocks and mud to stop. You will pay for that. Despite the anger the Kirlia could feel rolling off of the Lunatone, there was still absolutely no emotion in its voice.
Instead of responding, Prometheus simply sent another barrage of magical leaves at his opponent. Though they were hampered by the rain, they still managed to get their target, causing the Lunatone to turn around with narrowed eyes. In response, the Lunatone began to glow brightly, causing a beautiful spectacle of light spreading around the raindrops of the light rain.
Your time is up. The Lunatone droned as it fired off an enormous stone, which the Kirlia dodged by sidestepping it. The Lunatone continued to fire stone after stone at the Kirlia, who just kept sidestepping and not attacking. It was starting to feel confident since the Kirlia wasn’t fighting back, but before he could begin gloating or firing the next shot he was suddenly assaulted by something extremely painful from his back.
What-? The light in the Lunatone’s eyes completely faded as it fell to the ground, defeated by the barrage of leaves and shadows that came from behind him.
Your strategy worked, Zerne. Prometheus nodded to his trainer as he retracted his shadow back to normal size. But I didn’t expect anything less from you.
”Glad you know that, Theus.” Zernebog tipped his hat towards his Kirlia, grinning though it could be barely seen in the rain. ”But now, we have a new mystery to solve. Namely, how a Lunatone got here when it’s clearly a Hoenn native.”
His grin got a bit wider as he started walking again, with his Kirlia walking alongside him as they passed the downed body of the Lunatone. ”And judging from the security, we seem to heading in the right direction. So let’s keep going for now. I’ll take notes after the rain passes.”
James was feeling restless now and instead of sitting on the stony bench, which grew quite uncomfortable after a while, he decided to walk around the shelter, his eyes darting back and forth between the Sableye and outside the shelter. The rain was falling heavily outside and James didn't like standing in one spot for too long, especially in a place he didn't know much about. Strangely, Ren was quite calm at moment and James was wondering what was going on with him. He previously had some vague idea about it, but he was hesitating on how to proceed. After a good chunk of time had past, James noted that Ren didn't move or made any sign of life. This got him worried and he decided to question his companion.
''How long as it been since we started this journey...five months? Still, we got some nice friends along the way.''
''Sableee'' said Ren while nodding. Yet, James couldn't feel like his Ghost Pokemon was experienced an emotion that could be close to sadness.
''If there something wrong, please, at least say something about it. Do you still feel like you owe me your life?''
The Sableye stood motionless for a minute or two, then it nodded again. A tiny bit surprised by this given fact, James decided to cheer up his partner in crime.
''Did you know, when I came to save you, I was quite in distress myself?'' said James with squinted eyes. He had now the attention of his Sableye.
''That's right! Surprised? I wasn't living a cheerful life. Maybe you were fine living in that Dark Cave of yours, but that was some sort of an escape route to me. My life was so predictable that it wasn't funny at all. I didn't have that many friends either. I don't know if it's due to my psychic abilities, but I was never that popular with the locals teens of my age. I felt lonely and I was desperate to catch myself a Pokemon so that I could be with them. But when my vision started to kick in, and that I saw you helpless in that avalanche of stone...I decided to save you. I didn't want anything in return.''
James took a small pause. He realized the length of his conversation were quite long. No wonder people grew bored or didn't pay much attention to what he said.
''Not that I do not appreciate your gift, but, to tell the truth, you actually save myself that day. For once, I had a clear purpose in my life and I was actually doing something that would change my life. So, would stop skulking around about it? You owe me nothing, except your friendship of course. But that's already a given, right?'' said James while laughing. The Sableye chuckled too, to James relief. They fail to noticed that the rain was stopping slowly outside. They laugh for a while until James sensed that Ren attention was set behind him. Turning back, James faced quite a cute Pokemon. It was walking blindly across the rain drenched street of the ruins.
James was about to attract it's attention but quickly stopped himself from doing that. There was something off with that Pokemon. There was an eerie aura around the Pokemon. James wasn't sure what was affecting the Pokemon. It had a weird, unnatural way of walking that wasn't the usual pattern that you would expect out of a this kind of Pokemon. Like it's whole body was in conflict with what it wanted to do. Ren appeared to have quite a bold approach. Without waiting for James to give him an order, the Ghost Pokemon made his way outside the shelter.
Looking at his Sableye, James could tell from experience that he too had sense that something was off and that the Ghost Pokemon curiosity was picked. And well, there was something to be curious about. Instead of moving it's heard forward and back, the Smoochum head was moving sideways. Then, the Pokemon stopped. Just like that and without warning. It stood frozen in the middle of the road. Then she open up her mouth, her big lips parting way. A purple gas emerge from the Smoochum's mouth, forming a medium sized sphere. Two eye's materialized out of thin air and James was able to identify this Pokemon. It was a Gastly. These mischievous Ghost Pokemon liked to cause trouble and they are known to posses the body of human or Pokemon. In that case it was the poor little Smoochum...which quickly revealed to be a strong opponent if it manage to kick the Ghost Pokemon out.
James was wondering how it got possess in the first place but there was more pressing matters. The Smoochum was apparently angry, no surprised in that, and the Gastly was the obvious target of the ice princess Pokemon. It was quickly dealt with in a matter of seconds. Such wild and powerful display of psychic energy! Being weak to that particular type of power, the Ghost Pokemon was quickly blown away. The Smoochum turn it's attention to James Sableye. From the looks of it the Pokemon was still angry and saw the Sableye, or any Ghost Pokemon for that matter, as an enemy.
''Ren! Prepare for battle!'' said James as a warning, but the Sableye was already ready for it. As usual, Ren let the other Pokemon attack first, gauging it's opponent power. Purple energy seem to gather in a round ball of about the size of a basketball.
*Wait a minute, isn't that a...''
It was a Ghost Pokemon attack. James was wondering how the little ice Pokemon manage to pull off such a move then he remembered that a few Pokemon were able to learn a move called Copycat. After a few second of gathering energy, the Smoochum projected it's attack toward Ren. Smiling, the Ghost Pokemon slowly dodged, the attacking barely grazing the Sableye Ghostly body.
''Quick Ren! Hit her with a Shadow Claw.'' The Sableye punch the ground in front of him, sending a shadowy claw toward the baby Jynx. Likewise, the Smoochum manage to dodge the blow, but was still damaged the attack. It was now painting, the attack having taken its toll. To James surprise, it started to cry. Tears were running of the Pokemon's eye. Fake tears, James could tell. But Ren was none the less affected by the strange power of these tears. Psychic energy gathered around the Pokemon's body. In a matter of second, it was projected onto the Ghost Pokemon. James smirked and so did Ren. Psychic attacks were useless on a Sableye.
''Ren, use Power Gem!''
The Sableye eye's started to flash for a few second before unleashing a blueish, diamond shaped beam at the Smoochum. Push back a little but still standing, the Smoochum look dazed by the last attack. Fearing that both would end up wounded or worse if the battle continued, James decided it was the perfect to throw one of his Pokeball. The Pokeball arched forward in the air, stopping a few feet away from the Smoochum,
James crossed his finger, waiting for the Pokeball to do it's job. That would be the first Psychic Pokemon he would caught. It would also be the first Ice Pokemon he would caught.

Golden light, tunnel white. If I run to you, would you stay? I might be a prototype, but we’re both real inside.
Hiiiissss….
”Damn, it looks like rain isn’t stopping anytime soon.” Zernebog chuckled as he looked up at the hint of the overcast skies that can be seen through the dense undergrowth. ”Do you want to stop here or continue on, Theus?”
Prometheus turned around and gave a small smile in response to the concern in his trainer’s eyes. He knew the real reason why Zernebog asked that question, and he thought that it was sweet even though his trainer should know by now that he didn’t need to ask him that.
That will not be necessary, Zerne. A little rain is nothing. Prometheus chuckled. I’ve endured far worse. Besides, it’s actually relaxing to feel the droplets on my skin.
Zernebog frowned as his eyes flickered towards the dark, sprawling roads that awaited them.”Are you sure? After all, it’s no skin off my back.”
Prometheus’ smile became a little bit brighter. I am sure. But thank you for asking, Zerne.
Zernebog lowered his head and tipped his hat. ”Yeah, whatever.” He let out a long, slow exhale and watched as his breath misted in front of him.
”There’s still mysteries to solve and amateurs to try and regulate anyway, so we can’t really waste time.” Zernebog lifted his head a bit and raised his hat, gazing at the dark, desolate road they were travelling on with an eager gleam in his eyes. ”Starting with that Lunatone we beat up earlier. I wonder what else is going to cross our path?”
Hopefully nothing too hostile. Prometheus intoned as he continued to gaze at the buildings they were passing by. Even as he said it, he couldn’t help but get a bad feeling about the area they were traversing through. If the Lunatone was absolutely serious about its statement, then why hadn’t anything else appeared yet?
He knew his trainer was excited about what he was going to find here now that he encountered that Lunatone, but he still couldn’t help but be wary. For some reason, this felt like the calm before the storm….
James Pokeball shock once, twice and then a third and final time. The red light vanished and he was now the proud owner of an Smoochum. He would have to figure out a good name for her later on. It was, after all, she was is first psychic Pokemon and a female, too. But the latest information drove his curiosity forward. And it was kinda creepy, too. This whole place seem less friendlier then it appeared, as time passed. The local vegetation made it hard for James to know if it was day time or not.
There was only one partner he could get out right now and who would enjoy the current weather. Returning Ren to his Pokeball so he could get some rest, James let out his other partner in crime. Drip, while intimidated by the imposing structure of this ruined city, was in his element.
''Polii...'' said Drip moving around James as he walk forward in the road that would, if he had guessed right and if his Sableye was correct, one of the many plaza that was build ages ago.
''I'm glad your enjoying yourself, but do be careful around here Drip. This place could crumble at any time. And, I dare say, my vision was true this time. There some unknown force at work around here. But I doubt that Gastly was part of it.'' said James to his Poliwag. He was informing Drip about there recent meeting with the Ghost Pokemon. Both the Pokemon and the Trainer were carefully making there way across the wet, stoney road.
Come to think of it, I think it was trying to escape this place. It was, after all, moving toward the entrance of the ruins. Well more like, possessing that thing so it could move out of the ruins...wait...was it trying to save the Smoochum, too? That's a possibility. But like Zerne said before, my assumption are mostly biased by my own inexperience about this sort of thing. Maybe I should study more and assume less, that way I'll be more accurate and precise about what I'm doing.
Soon, the road ahead led to some kind of a bridge. It was pretty large and while some part of it had crumbled, it look pretty solid to James. Yet, there was a feeling of uneasiness around this place. James felt that if he would cross this bridge with his Pokemon, a trap would undoubtedly be close on the both of them. Looking at his left, he could see desolated road. On to his right, he could that the road was going downward, down in the city. It was mostly blocked off by the growing vegetation.
Lets see. We have three choice here. We could follow this road and see were it could lead us. We could also cross this less then friendly bridge over there to Lugia's know where. And the last option is to trough a tight space...I don't like the look of this...
James train of thoughts were interrupted by a distant sound. It seem to came from the desolated road. Not knowing what could possibly come out of there, the trainer took his Poliwag in his hand and quickly hide behind an giant statue which represented a Kingdra.
I hope we were not spotted by something dangerous. Let's wait and see what is going to happen...

Golden light, tunnel white. If I run to you, would you stay? I might be a prototype, but we’re both real inside.
Leave, intruder. You are trespassing upon sacred ground.
A frown tugged at Zernebog’s lips as he heard multiple voices in his head speaking in unison. He gave Prometheus, who was also frowning, a pointed glance before diverting his eyes to the side.
”That’s what your buddy said too.” Zernebog raised an eyebrow at the empty space he was staring at. ”Too bad he couldn’t put his money where his mouth was.”
You were the one who felled our brethren? The voices in their head seemed to buzz with anger. Then you and your ilk will pay with your lives!
”Wait, felled?!” Zernebog’s brows were now narrowed in confusion. ”Look, I just knocked him out. I didn’t kill him or anything.”
You still harmed him. The voices hissed. No excuses. You will both pay the price of defying the orders from on high
”On high?” Zernebog looked more confused than ever, but he didn’t have time to question them even more when multiple Psychic blasts suddenly emerged from different places in the area. However, he wasn’t concerned as he should have been for one being ambushed; in fact he looked almost… relaxed.
As it turned out, Prometheus had already located all three sources of hostility within the area. As such, he easily teleported them out of there in a flash of leaves and light, leaving the psychic blasts to crash against each other and cancel out. The leaves he left behind were somehow unharmed and flew off, homing in towards the biggest source of hostility in the area.
The leader thought nothing of the floating leaves when they approached his station… until he was struck by them, leaving nasty cuts all over his gelatinous form. Since he was linked with his brethren as well, they also felt the pain, but not enough to make them scream out.
AARGH! The leader seethed. Those two infidels will pay for this! Search the premises for their mental signatures! They must be purged!
For the Legion!
Thump!
In a flash of light, Zernebog and Prometheus landed on the rainy streets in another part of town. ”Was this a random teleport?” The former asked as he turned to the latter, who shook his head.
”Then what exactly did you home in on?” Zernebog asked, looking half-confused and half-amused.
That young blond man. He seemed like the only non-hostile creature in these ruins so far. The white haired trainer frowned at his response, but shrugged. Beggars couldn’t be choosers.
”If that’s the case, then where’s blondie?” Right after he said that, his eyes wandered over to the left and then widened at the situation before him.
”…nevermind.” He shook his head ruefully. ”You need any help there… James?” He asked cheerfully as he waved to the guy.
Silence. Silence perpetuate the ruins. The loud crashing sound from before was replaced by an unnerving silence. The rain storm had stopped for a while and the only sound that could be heard was that of the many water droplets. Water was dripping down the trees, who were growing all about the ruins. As it followed the natural gravity, drifting through the stony surface of the big row of statues down to the very rough road that extended through the ruins, it gathered into the cracked pavement forming small polls.
The sun was still somewhat blocked by the dense vegetation, making it not easy for James to see what was going around him. The gathering fog didn't help him either. Observing his surrounding, James noticed that Drip was enjoying himself by jumping from puddle to puddle.
He's like an innocent child, completely oblivious of his surrounding. There could be danger around here and he would still play around. Still, I know not other Pokemon who had this big of an endurance. That's probably why he's a bit careless and courageous...if he's not being a daredevil.
Well, if Drip wasn't aware of his surrounding, James had to keep watch on him. It prove to be quite a good idea since it enable him to warn it from an impending danger. The Psychic attack came from out of nowhere and Drip was lucky enough that James had enough time to warn him of the attack.
Intruders...Must dispose of intruders. Must warn Legion of the invasion.
Looking ahead of him, not to high from the ground, two Pokemon were floating, there eyes glaring at Drip and James. The water Pokemon had ran up to James and jumped into his open arms. What was going on with those two? James was a bit perplex, his face showing a mixture of concern and. It wasn't like he had cause trouble so far, except for crashing down an old pillar who would have probably crashed down with time anyway. Must have to do with territory conflict. Still, there was plenty of space around here.
Wild Pokemon such as these are always a mess to understand.
We heard that, infidel.
You heard that?! Look, I'm getting tired of Pokemon who busting into my head without asking if I'm OK with it. You guys have no manners at all.
And with that, the exchange grew even worse. They didn't care if they hurt a human along the way, the two psychic Pokemon attack grew relentless as chip of stones and bits started flying around. James was forced to jump and run around, all the while carrying Drip whom he order to aim a few shot when they had time to do so. It wasn't an effective way of combating his foes, as Drip didn't have any time to aim properly. And while James was in top shape, he knew he would get tired before long or ran out of place to hides. Things quickly grew hopeless but James wasn't worried in the least. In fact, the trainer appeared to be quite confident, keeping a cold head under the pressure.
The air between the trainer and the two psychic Pokemon was distorted by a brilliant flash of light. Having averted his eye's at the more or less last second before the impact of the new comers, James started to run while the two Psychic Pokemon were distracted by the sudden arrival of the two familiar faces. Jumping in between the two group, he was perfectly timed so that Drip's Protection field was able to deflect the combined assault of the two Solosis. The Psychic blast was deflected on one of the nearby statue of a Slowking, pulverizing half of the stone away. The air was showered by pebbles.
”You need any help there… James?”
James attention was focused on his adversary, so he didn't noticed that the explorer was waving at him but could respond none the less.
''It looks like your right on time. If you would kindly pick your target so that we could be rid of this troubling situation, I would be very grateful.''
''Poliiiiii'' said Drip, approving his master's plan.

Golden light, tunnel white. If I run to you, would you stay? I might be a prototype, but we’re both real inside.
”Don’t mind if we do. Alright. It is rather dark out here anyway, so this is perfect.”
Zernebog grinned as he eyed the two floating green gelatin balls with a predatory look in his eyes. Anyone who knew him would immediately know that there was something bad that was about to happen.
Suddenly, two of them didn’t feel so confident about this entire set-up, but they had to remove the infidels for the Legion. Their duties superseded any thoughts of self-preservation. Prepare to be annihilated- URK!
”Blah, blah, blah… you two talk too much, you know.” Zernebog chuckled as he watched Prometheus’ shadow assault both of the attackers while the Kirlia looked on, seemingly impassive. Looks like his partner interpreted his signal correctly, as always.
The grin never left his face as he made his next order. ”Perhaps these two need a time-out, Theus?”
What are you saying-!?!?! That was as far as they got before they were both encased in a blue force field, preventing them from moving. You two will pay for this! They are already coming for you!
”Oh?” Zernebog’s eyes narrowed as his hand started to inch towards his belt.
Did you really think you could escape them, infidel? As we speak, more are coming. They will be here. They will free us and destroy you and your psychic human companion! The two gloated even though they were trapped by the force field, earning them a vicious smack from Prometheus’ shadow and making them verbally groan in pain.
”Thank you for the warning and for basically laying out your basic plan in front of us.” Zernebog muttered dryly as he pulled out a pokeball from his belt and tossed it into the air. ”Makes it that much more fun when we make you eat your words. And then some~”
Prometheus’ eyes flickered towards his trainer in alarm, knowing that tone of his voice and what it bode for the poor guards. Well, they probably deserved it for attacking them… but the Kirlia wouldn’t wish what Zernebog was about to unleash on anyone. It truly was a cruel punishment to be subjected to… him.
Who was this him, exactly? Why, the Haunter that just emerged from the pokeball that Zernebog just threw. Said Haunter was grinning like a maniac as he leered at the blond trainer and his little Poliwag.
”They aren’t your targets, Erebus.” Zernebog commented with a light, almost airy and dismissive tone. His grin then turned amused when the Haunter turned his attention towards the two imprisoned psychic pokemon, who immediately began to shudder at the sheer amount of malice and evil intent radiating off of the ghost pokemon.
What manner of being are you, abomination?! They both uttered in fear and disgust as they tried to move away from the Haunter.
”Haunt~?” Erebus pointed at the two green pokemon and made a show of licking his lips, causing the two to shudder even further in their prisons.
Zernebog actually looked thoughtful as he stared at the two of them. ”...Lemme think about it.” Whether or not he was serious about it, no one will ever know because Prometheus interrupted him before he could go on further.
Incoming, twelve o’ clock. It seems our pursuers have caught up with us. Prometheus’ voice echoed in both Erebus’ and Zernebog’s minds, causing both of them to smirk.
”You have your targets.” Zernebog’s eyes gleamed with the promise of pain and violence as he turned towards the direction that his Kirlia had indicated. Beside him, Erebus already started creating two large balls of dark, cracking energy, with one in each hand.
I will need to release the two prisoners if I am to aid Erebus in his endeavours. Prometheus stated in a private line of thought in Zernebog’s head. Shall I?
…Do it. Zernebog responded after a few moments. If Blondie thinks he can be useful here, then he’s gonna have to prove it here and now. Besides, you still have to take care of those stooges while Erebus gets to play with the big one.
Very well. Prometheus then projected a message into the Poliwag’s head. I will drop the forcefield in a few moments. I will try and make it as easy as possible for you to defend your trainer, but still please prepare yourself.
WE FOUND YOU. YOU CANNOT ESCAPE. Three voices suddenly burst into everyone’s head like a gunshot, making them all blink. Three waves of Psychic energy suddenly emerged right around the corner, only to be all pushed back and nullified by a massive pulse of darkness.
The weakened pulse of darkness hit their mark, making the three newcomers groan in pain. Erebus didn’t let them get a word or even a move in edgewise as he sent the two smaller ones flying into the bigger one with one of the spheres of dark energy. He then sent all three of them flying into the two green psychic pokemon that were still trapped by the force field. The minute that the two were struck, Prometheus released his hold on them, letting the momentum of Erebus’ strike send them crashing into a wall.
The Kirlia wasted no time in extending his shadow after them subtly while the Haunter began lobbing balls of darkness in their direction. The first two shots managed to strike true without hindrance, sending enormous shockwaves of pain coursing through their bodies at the super-effective move. They managed to block the third and fourth shot by pooling their waning powers together to cancel it out.
However, they weren’t able to block the fifth shot because they were suddenly struck from below by writhing tentacles coming from the shadows in the ground, whipping them mercilessly and keeping them in place as the fifth and sixth shots struck true. By this point, the two that had been harassing the blond man earlier were completely unconscious and the other two were barely hanging by a thread, though they can still fight. The Duosion though still had the presence of mind to immediately float back up and start charging an attack as soon as the barrage was over.
Die die die die die die…. It started to chant as it prepared to use up its remaining power to fire a huge Psyshock right at the wretched ghost, traitor psychic, and their monster of a trainer. Just as he was about to release the pent-up psychic energies though, he was suddenly punched really hard in the head, sending it right into lala-land.
With an evil cackle, the Haunter took the Duosion in one hand and brought it over to his main body. He then started to chew and suck on the large green creature as if it were some sort of delicious jello ice cream.
Zernebog and Prometheus staunchly ignored the slurping and the licking sounds as the former walked over towards the two unconscious green creatures, uncaring of the other two that were still awake and approaching the blond guy. He figured that it was good enough for a trial by fire thing, so he wasn’t about to help them kick the butts of weakened jello.
”Well, you two certainly seem interesting.” Zernebog muttered to himself with a smirk as he took out two empty pokeballs. ”And Prometheus can use more psychic friends.”
With that said, he threw his empty pokeballs towards the two downed green creatures and watched as the pokeballs seemingly picked a target and absorbed them into their interior. Normally he wouldn’t be as engrossed as he was in the process of capture, but he was trying to ignore the sounds of Erebus enjoying his meal. Some things he just couldn’t get used to, he supposed.
