It had been storming for the past five minutes and it didn't look like it was going to let up any time soon. There was an umbrella in her bag, but she couldn't hold onto it and her Swablu at the same time. The poor thing could easily be blown away by a particularly strong gust of wind. Ignoring the rain that was currently soaking her (I hope my sweater doesn't shrink, she thought to herself), she was currently rooting around with one hand in her pocket and the other wrapped around Azalea. She was trying to fish her Pokeball out, but was having no luck. She grabbed onto it with two fingers and carefully extracted it from her pocket... only to drop it on the ground.
"Fudge!" Azalea sighed. Pepper leaned down to pick it up, and it was at that exact moment that someone chose to rush past her, ramming their shoulder into hers so that her grip on her Pokemon was loosened. Startled, the Swablu spread her wings, and the gusts of wind immediately sent her flying away. Pepper let out a noise that was a cross between a squeak and a shriek, grabbed the Pokeball off of the ground, and immediately took off running after Azalea.
The Swablu rode the wind, flapping her wings in vain. She was now at the mercy of the storm, and Pepper's feet pounded the pavement as she chased after her. The wind pushed at her as well, and the girl gave no regard for her own safety as she barreled past other people. A few shouted in surprise as she got dangerously close to knocking them over. She even recognized the one who had knocked the Pokemon out of her arms in the first place. "This is all your faaauuuult!" she cried out as she rushed past them.
By pure chance, the Swablu's path was blocked-- by somebody's face. She squawked indignantly as they collided, flapping her wings, and not five seconds later Pepper crashed into the both of them, unable to slow herself down in time to keep from colliding with the stranger.

Danny knew the saying 'April showers bring May flowers' wasn't just some cutsey rhyme people told themselves so getting drenched past several layers of clothes wasn't a revolting experience, but April was over, and these showers needed to stop. At least he was prepared for the rain, opting for a clear poncho to keep his clothes and travel bag dry when his umbrella flipped over from the wind, but he didn't think far ahead enough to prepare for the oozing feeling of water seeping through his shoes. "Agh...I knew I should've invested in some water proof boots." He whined, shifting a pair of pleading eyes towards the Pelipper that flew ahead of him. "Larrryyyy..." His whines turned into a high-pitched squeal until the Pelipper cautiously cracked his neck back to see what Danny wanted, but he quickly deemed Danny's moans as pointless and stuck to ignoring his trainer. If Danny wanted sympathy, he wasn't getting any unless he the proper edible motivator was given in exchange.
A strong gust of wind shut Danny up so he could focus on straightening his umbrella out, twisting and tilting it against the force of the wind to prevent it from turning inside out and leaving him vulnerable to the hostile downpour. It was a terrible day to be walking around Tynntill, but Danny had errands to do, and he refused to remain trapped indoors because the weather decided to be a massive wad of dicks. His umbrella wasn't the only thing getting blown around though, Danny noted as the hats on people's heads started to pop off when people neglected to hold onto them.
"No! My toy frog collection!" A little girl wailed on the other side of the street, spilling a jar of rainbow colored Poliwags onto the ground. Danny briefly turned his head to make sure she could pick them up safely, but the scene sparked something beautiful in his head.
"Hey. Hey Larry." A low, ominous chuckle emerged as he cracked a smile at the bird. Larry cringed as an electric shock traveled from wing to wing, tickling his backside until he finally turned and gulped in horror. Hoe, don't do it.
"I guess you could say...it's raining hats and frogs out here."
Oh my god. As if karma wanted to punish him for ruining its day with his horrible humor, another strong gust of wind snapped the metal inside of his umbrella as it flapped and flailed, easily carrying Danny with it as he screeched in terror, whooshing past Larry and an unfortunate pedestrian that apparently had her own problems with the storm. Trained Pokemon or not, Larry couldn't fight nature if it had its eyes closed. The wind flung him between the branches of a nearby tree and ran away giggling, leaving the Pelipper dazed and confused as Danny's shouts echoed in his ears.
With the worst of the wind gone, Danny eventually pulled himself into a skidding stop, but not before turning and getting smashed in the face with a mess of feathers and fluff until another phantom force of nature stuck him hip first into the cement. Registering the feeling of feathers as he regained his senses, his first thought was that Larry fucked him up. "Was that really necessary, Larry? Aw, man. My pants are soaked thanks to you!" He shuddered all over when his umbrella and poncho defenses were cracked, and who was there to blame but--not Larry?
The Pelipper eventually managed to catch up with the group after following Danny's distinct, nasal tone and plopped on the ground beside him. Well, this could've been a better day. "Yikes, uh. You better not be dead." It occurred to him somewhere in the middle of his sentence that he probably should've tried being polite, and the effort was there, but the sooner they got out of this rain the better. Danny jumped to his feet as fast as he could and offered the younger girl a hand if she needed it.

If Pepper had been a little taller, things might not have turned out so bad. Her face would've been cushioned by the Swablu's soft blue body. As it was, though, it smashed into the boy's shoulder instead. The last thing she noticed was the sound of glass cracking, but it didn't quite register until later. "Ow..." she muttered. Her Pokemon voiced a similar complaint as she picked herself off Danny's face, rolling so she landed in a puddle on the ground. The water soaked into her soft, cottony wings, weighing them down. At least the wind likely wouldn't pick her up again.
"Yikes, uh. You better not be dead." Pepper's only response was to let out a zombie-like groan. The palms of her hands had grazed the cement and now were bleeding sluggishly. She took the offered hand and dragged herself up so she was standing, then held her palms out to the rain so the cool drops soothed the stinging sensation. "I think I--" She opened her eyes. The world around her cracked.
"M-my glasses!" she stuttered out. She removed them from her face and stared at them in dismay. Both lenses had cracked from the impact. They clung stubbornly to the frames, but they were essentially useless. Azalea waddled over to sit at her feet, cocking her head, not quite understanding what the problem was. She knew her Trainer was rarely seen without them, but she didn't quite understand the concept of corrective eyewear.
"Now I have to send them back to Hoenn to get fixed..." she moaned. She hadn't switched to an eyewear place in Nue. She didn't even know what her prescription was anymore. Man... this stinks. At least her warranty hadn't expired.

Hearing those pained groans wasn't a good sign, and Danny had a feeling that something managed to break in the collision when a distinct cracking sound clicked near his ears. Still frazzled from smacking into the ground with a throbbing ache in his sides that refused to leave him be, he quickly realized that the girl was worse off than he hoped. Well, the bare minimum of what he originally hoped was that she had to be alive, but after helping her up, he became increasingly aware of the cracks that formed deep within each lens. Oh dear. Weren't glasses like, painfully expensive? "I didn't do it. I think. Maybe I did. Shit, sorry." Caught in the moment as the pitiable girl stared in horror at the frames in her hands, he forced himself to stop making things worse for himself until he could properly gauge how much she blamed him for this offense.
Relieved that her first reaction was to mope instead of lash out at him, Danny figured that this was something he could work with. Except they were still out in the rain, and the wind wasn't being any more pleasant than it was before. The wind continued to howl past them, whistling a taunting screech that had Danny reeling and shouting after it. "We get it! You're an asshole, wind!" Not that he'd ever get a reply from a passing gust of wind, but at least he felt slightly better after doing it.
"Geez. Hey, can you get where you have to with your glasses like that?" Danny could've came across as chivalrous if he wasn't currently fending off the umbrella in his hands from whipping around and clonking someone in the head. It sucked, but it was better than getting more drenched than he already was.

A lot of what Danny was saying just registered in Pepper's head as babbling. It wasn't totally her fault, as she was busy calculating how much it would cost to repair her glasses, and she wasn't really paying close attention to him. When he called out to insult the wind, though, Azalea nodded in agreement. She agreed completely. She was tired of being completely at the mercy of strong gusts that blew her away from her absentminded trainer. As it was now, she was waiting for Pepper to recall her back into her ball, as was her original intent before she was sent careening away.
It didn't take her too long, and the Swablu let out a sigh of relief when the girl pulled her back into her Pokeball. "Geez. Hey, can you get where you have to with your glasses like that?" Pepper blinked when she realized he was speaking to her. 'Doh, of course he is, idiot. You just plowed into him. But it still took a few seconds for her to respond properly to his question. "Huh? I mean, uh... probably?" The answer was actually 'probably not', at least not without falling down a lot, but that was too embarrassing to say out loud.
She really needed to get a guide dog for times like this. A Growlithe, or a Poochyena... anything that could lead her through treacherous terrain so she didn't end up flat on her face. As if the universe felt the need to demonstrate her clumsiness, she took a few steps to the side as she pressed her stinging palms to her wet clothes and immediately lost her balance again. This time, though, she actually managed to catch herself before she slipped and fell. It was a miracle. Pepper let out a nervous laugh, feeling like quite a dunderhead.
