 It had been several days since Damian had last traversed through the Ruins; he’d gotten busy and had subsequently gotten swept up with cleaning up parts of a Taillow horde that had been bothering the denizens of Iceburgh, for starters. Not to mention I’ve had to entertain some rather…interesting visitors over the past few weeks, that much is certain… he thought with a grin on his face as he then arrived at the Ruins proper—and was surprised to see that there were a lot of people bustling around; he could only guess as to what had set off the local explorers like that.
Either way, he then skirted carefully, as silently as he could manage around the perimeter until he’d left the hubbub away and had come to one of the entrances that had been set off to one side. “Well, then…” he began, looking up at the cavernous maw that seemingly towered over him. He could only shrug before quickly searching his pockets for a light source; and after shaking the little stick in his hands he had a source of illumination to help him explore the darkness. Now that he was reasonably armed, he then proceeded to walk through the open entry way, hoping that he didn’t run into anything too unsavory.

 The deafening silence was all that the Professor had to accompany him as he traversed deeper and deeper into the Ruins—he’d already lost track of time; and knew that it would be potentially unwise to try and use Nazca’s Teleport—unless he wanted to end up somewhere else altogether; or even worse—inside solid rock. He already knew how much trouble he’d gotten into the last time he’d asked his Claydol to navigate through the mess that was the Ruins—and it was rather unwise to try now that he’d already experienced the effects first-hand.
To be fair, I rather like the silence… Damian mused as he continued to look around, wiggling the flash light in his hand and shining the thin pencil-like beam around the area; trying to pick out if there were any hidden rigged traps along the way. “So far, so good though,” he muttered to himself, looking around very warily and hoping that he didn’t hope to stumble upon a rigged tile or two… or three, or maybe even four! His train of thought was suddenly shattered when his foot had landed on something that had caused a rather loud, unceremonious crunching noise—as he looked down, he could only recoil out of shock.
“Oh, I’m glad those weren’t mine,” he hissed, suddenly remembering that he’d left his glasses back in the labs before heading out for the day.

 It didn’t take too long before the near-silent sound of his footsteps had caused the Professor to look up—in this case he’d inadvertently wandered into one of the rooms that were offset from the long corridor that he was traversing. Staring up in silent wonder, he began to shine the source of light around, trying to pick out just where the hell he’d ended up in this time around. He could only guess as to where his wanderings had taken him; but the moment the small source of light had fallen on something so grotesque, so… terrifying, the first instinct he had was to silently back away out of sheer terror.
“What the hell is that…?!” he muttered to himself, blinking as quickly as he could manage—the better to be able to focus more on the hideous-looking statue that was literally snapping in front of him. The stone representation of whatever it was looked so realistic, so life-like; that he couldn’t avert his gaze away from it in case it decided to come alive and attack him with those powerful-looking jaws that it had! “Wait a second…” he continued to mutter after the initial shock had worn out; catching sight of something glittering right in the maw of the beast that was staring at him with its jaws spread open. “I hope you don’t come alive and eat me…” he said to himself, not realizing that he was already voicing his thoughts out loud as he cautiously approached the statue.
Several moments later, he was in possession of a marble that felt smooth; yet very cold to the touch. He then began to roll it over and over in his fingers, completely and totally unaware of the fact that he’d unleashed something in the room…
