Giovanni is described as being a little scary in terms of appearance. His appearance is comparable to the male version of a voodoo witch, with various tattoos that cover his entire frame; many of which cover his entire arm and a sun tattoo that covers his entire left pectoral region. With short raven-black hair styled into an undercut he has pale skin; he wears contacts which shield his normal hazel eyes and makes his pupils seem red with black sclera. His attire does change when he isn't at the gym, but it always has a Gothic feel to it. The tattoo on his neck is a Latin quote but written in the Greek language: "Νεχ ποσσυμ τεχυμ ωιωερε, νεχ σινε τε. Nec possum tecum vivere, nec sine te." A translation from Martial, Epigrams XII, 46, which reads "I can live neither with you, nor without you."Personality:

Giovanni is an interesting man psychoanalytically in that his mannerisms and behavior exhibit contradicting duplicitous traits.
Giovanni is a laid back individual with a devil-may-care attitude filled with reckless, impulsive and fearless undertones. He acts solely on his extreme lust for life where he often seeks a lifestyle with his own fervor to it. He delivers sarcastic, sassy and blunt remarks that sound as smooth as silk though they are vicious as a snake's poison. He handles and picks his words carefully and cautiously taking note of certain phrases that spark a certain anger in people that he seems to find joy in and once finding these weakness his uses it to toy with the emotions of those around him. A silver tongue tainted in black ink his words are dark and cruel though they hold the capability of producing the most believable of lies sounding as though he speaks the whole truth and nothing but the truth. His heavy use of sarcasm combined his knack for touching on sensitive subjects, he can be insensitive to the feelings of others though he can still hold a innocent smile on his face that makes his kindness come off as twisted and downright cruel at best. His words hold a certain bite to them that lets people know he can stand behind his words just as quickly as he speaks them.
Aloof for many reasons, by all means he can be a calm, level-headed and analytical individual, however, at the same time he is as twisted as he is cruel. This certain allure of calmness that he holds allows him to be conniving and vindictive without most people noticing. He can shield himself behind these layers of his personality that allow him condone things in complete secrecy, planning against the masses while being assumed as a foul-mouthed pacifist. These attributes come natural to him and are almost second nature if anything else. As the saying goes, he is a 'cold-hearted snake' lacking the humanity that would keep him from committing immoral and heinous. He is willing to manipulate any and everyone so long as it is in response to pursuing a greater goal. An idealist, he views the world as being stuck in permanent stasis and it is his goal to change that even if it means sacrificing a few pawns along the way. This is where his intelligence come into play. A man of combined personalities, he can easily switch his personality on and off twisting and changing it to befit the current situation and gain the trust of others. He can very easily pick apart the emotions of those around him, analyze them, and a form a new personality to befriend any all people(s). His act of befriending others and gaining their trust to further his own goals can be seen as cruel and downright twisted since not many can figure out his true personality aside from the few that truly know him.
Practically a rebel he defies 'laws' and 'rules' that society has placed for him. He abides by his own code refusing to be seen as being lower on the social hierarchy striving to be better than the stereotypes placed upon him. He classifies himself as a dreamer rather than a realist but he does believe that dreamers need realist and vice versa. Seen as happy, cheerful, kind, at ease, and carefree in good company. Of course, this is only shown very rarely since he holds few friends. But the friends he does have he is shown to be actively protective or them even going so far as to willingly sacrifice his own life for them. He is capable of caring for others though he very rarely shows it. He can willingly put off his prideful nature to let others in.
If you could look inside someone's heart you would see that he is an arrogant, confident, cocky and aggressive individual. Truly an apathetic child, he hates being bored for long periods of time and usually goes off to find the best cure to make him feel alive. A beast hiding in sheep's clothing he finds himself to be a brutal demon that is deliberate cruel to those around him. Sure he is the occasional victim of a melancholic, stoic, solemn personality, but for the better half of things he blood thirsty individual with the strength and sadism to match. He seemingly enjoys the torture of others and frankly it makes it him downright destructive and almost dwells back to his days as an infant. Although this side of himself is something he prefers to keep hidden unless in in the heat of battle. Whenever these aspects of his personality comes to light he displays a psychotic grin while laughing maniacally.
All these good qualities come at a price, right? Those fake little smiles are nothing more than a blissful cover up for the troubled boy that lies inside. In reality, Giovanni is truly nothing more than an innocent child who wants nothing more than to be happy. He is emotionally vulnerable and no longer believes in the sacrifice of his own happiness to please others. Frankly, he is emotionally guarded so much so that he has built a large wall around himself that comes off as him being cruel and vicious, even though in reality, he is simply hurting by the demons of his past. He consciously feels horrible for many of the things he has said/done though he will not admit them less he is in good company. He knows of his demons and his cruelty, but his lack of being able to express his emotions hinders him from change. The only thing he seems to acknowledge in kindness is his mother and his Pokemon. Sure he's unfixable but when you have dreams that can feed a thousand men all you can do is smile through the pain.
On occasion he gives hint to these problems and his true emotions, namely when subtle comments are made about his demeanor or his past to which he responds with rage while at the same time hinting of his sadness and true vulnerability. Though he does not cry often, there have been many times where he has found himself drowning in his own tears after being hit below the belt in terms of insults and touchy topics.

We all know the terrible cliche of the little boy who had it rough from the beginning and somehow he rose from the ashes and swam through his own tears to become someone worth admiring; well unfortunately this isn't that story. The Zoppé family isn't one that is weaved from pretty little lies that are made to look as sweet as honey, rather instead it is dark and filled with the whispers of the demons and ghouls that carry the bitter sadness of the characters inside. The Zoppé's family as poor circus performers in the Kanto Region carried over well when the family moved to the Sinnoh Region where they began their start as Contest Performers which soon pulled into their finances which allowed for them to carry on to a better living along with their three children at the current times. The Zoppé's however have a history shrouded in darkness that follow that good name. In the origins of Sinnoh, rumors were rampant of their viciousness and the Zoppé's habit of abducting innocent and unsuspecting victims where they unleashed a flurry of torture on their victims. Many people were abducted and at the center of these malevolent circuses their laid massive blood soaked floors and bruised flesh.
At the center of these massive performances filled with sweet words wrapped in silk, there lay kidnappings and rumors of the rampant viciousness that lay deep within the circus undergrounds. Rumors of hidden passages and trap doors that allowed for them to casually trap their victims spread like wildfire, and yet people still poured in from different regions just to take sneak peaks of the the family's many acts that would soon transfer later on. Patrols were far less common which allowed for them to casually slip through the shadows and trap doors and hidden passages that the family had set in their little house of horrors; however as time went by these raucous torture chambers soon died down as the suspicions reached their peak and the family was forced to move from various town and then different regions to keep the officers at bay. The hushed whispers soon died down allowing for the family to finally settle down back in the Sinnoh Region in Veilstone City where most of their crime was blamed on Team Galactic.
The Zoppé family soon changed to modernized crime where they become the infamous mafia of Veilstone and the Sinnoh Region thereafter; however their low-key lifestyle allowed for them to remain under wraps and under the radar in terms of avoiding authority. The family were known by very few as the people you called when you needed to get revenge. Building bars with extravagant fixtures and design, the only thing that set them apart from your average club was the hidden room only a few stories below that allowed for octagon shaped rings built for fist fights and deadly matches between customers and small little rooms that allowed for the paying customers to get revenge and torture the men/women that had wronged them. These bars were short-lived since Alexander, the soon to be head of the Zoppé family found the bars to be too risky. But before the bars were shut down, it was these blood soaked bars that Giovanni was born into as the youngest of four children.
Giovanni's parents were certainly not shy about teaching him the ways of the family business before they decided to casually shut the more brutal parts of the bar down. For the first few years of his life he watched from the sidelines as many came in and out the bars beaten and bruised from the blood soaked events that took place below. A new zeal emerged and Giovanni eventually became a little prodigy of the Zoppé family at the tender age of 10.
Alexander served as Giovanni's father from his mother's second marriage and because of his mother's high status among the Zoppé family was Alexander looked upon with superiority. Giovanni's zeal of the Zoppé way of fighting to the end and drinking until you fell flat on your face earned him the special place of being his second in command when the gang destroyed their bars and began carrying out acts in secrecy. Now converting back to their old ways, the family began to become Contest Performers with a select few still acting as circus performers in small traveling tents. Giovanni himself acted as a ring leader for a plethora of Pokemon, namely the small Pumkaboo that he named Orphne. There was nothing more entertaining than watching a boy and his Pokemon commit ghoulish acts in the middle of stage surrounded by drunken onlookers and screams of amazement as he managed to plan some of the most intricate performances; all the while acting as a distraction while the family carried out the few jobs they managed to muster as their name was still surrounded by their prior mafia roots.
Of course, things would soon come to take a turn for the worst with the Zoppé family. As the money stopped pouring in and people were dulled by the circus acts, did Alexander turn to bottles of whiskey to numb the uncontrollable pain of no longer being able to support his family. And with liquor their came the physical and emotional abuse of his right hand, who was beaten ruthlessly until he blacked out or could barely seen straight. Beaten and bruised he would continue to try and make his performances just a little more complicated to attract more revenue, this worked for but awhile until it died down once again. Closing in on his puberty did Alexander decide the circus would no longer be family business nor would the mafia, to which he burned the tents down in a drunken rage. Unfortunately, Giovanni's mother and his sisters lay sleeping inside one of the tents where they were burned to death, leaving Giovanni in the hands of his crazed father.
Under his father thumb did Giovanni stay up until he managed to use the excuse of a Pokemon journey to leave his drunken father behind in the dead of night. Bags packed and money in his pocket, he sprinted from his home with Pumpkaboo at his side as his companion after another one of his father's drunken fits. Stuck in the Sinnoh Region he left Veilstone where he took a boat straight to Snowpoint City. It was in this arctic tundra that he stumbled upon Jasper; the man who drew Giovanni back into his family's old ways of gambling, drugs, and organized crime. Screwed up and scared for years he found himself clinging to Jasper for protection and emotionally support (unfortunately this support didn't last long since Jasper turned out to be a splitting image of his father). The drug abuse Giovanni endured lasted for what seemed like years, and soon thereafter did he begin to neglect his Pumpkaboo. The Pokemon eventually ran-away leaving Giovanni alone in the world. The loneliness sprouted into a cold personality that allowed for Giovanni to overthrow Jasper and take his place as mafia boss. A new title, Giovanni eventually set out to find the late Pumkaboo where he convinced the little ghost Pokemon to return to him under the promise that he would never leave him.
Ruthless, cold, conniving, and cunning Giovanni carried out the small gang's acts in secrecy, but just as quickly as he became their leader did he become bored with the gang and eventually had it disbanded without a moment's notice. Fast forward a few years and Giovanni sprouted into a young man with scary good looks and a personality to match the coldness he felt in his heart. Tired of the Sinnoh scene he eventually left where he moved to Nue; at this point he now carried a few more Pokemon that would soon come as the basis of his team when he became one of the few Ghost-type Gym Leaders of Nue. Now settled in Iceburgh he sits patiently on his throne with a heart made of coal and a smile stitched in black.

Psychic Abilities - Though dormant and generally uncontrollable, Giovanni holds the ability of a Psychic. Namely the skills of telekinesis, empathy and prophet; though these abilities are activated only ever so often. They seem to only show their peak in times of great stress or great relaxation, though Giovanni doesn't exactly acknowledge it as anything other than a strange phenomena of being around ghost pokemon.
