Soon after Izumi had managed to acquire the Pinsir (and had evolved her two companions in the process) she was back for more. Knowing that she was running short on time, she then picked out her two companions for the day. After making sure that they were reasonably equipped with moves that would help them last much longer in battle, she then made her way back to the Safari Zone and handed over her last Tag to the warden at the gate before submitting herself to the body frisking and inspection. After she’d gotten the green light to go back inside, she then watched as one of the other wardens then cracked the gates open, before waiting for her to pass through.
Once she’d skirted past the waiting warden (and heard the gates slam shut) she then looked around, before finally deciding on where to go—to the second Area, otherwise known as the (original) area where majority of the Fire-types made their humble abode. She then looked around, just to make sure she wasn’t being followed—and quickly picked out the fastest route towards where the mountainous, rocky areas began. She was running a bit short on time; but with the two she was going to train, this was going to be quite an interesting journey…

It didn’t take too long before the raven-haired Trainer had spotted a silhouette up amongst the clouds—and she got the shock of her life as the shadow dive-bombed her with a piercing cry—it was an Aerodactyl! “WHOA!” she shrieked as the prehistoric Fossil ‘mon then rounded on her for another dive-bomb attack; this one meant business! “Definitely not here, and most definitely not now!” she shrieked for a few moments, losing her composure as she searched her pockets and finally came up with two containment units before tossing them as high as she could manage.
She then watched as the two bursts of light then formed themselves into a bipedal turtle—as well as a seahorse that was seemingly ‘floating’ in mid-air. How the Horsea managed to keep himself dry while out of the water was anyone’s guess, but the Squirtle looked around, wondering where they’d ended up when Izumi shrieked once again, throwing up her hands as the Aero came in close for another attack! “Karitt! Oceanus! Help me out here, can you?!” she managed to get out as the Aero made another sharp turn before finally coming face to face with the two it was going to tussle with! “Alright! Let’s try out all those new moves you guys have been picking up!” she began, finally managing to recover her composure several minutes later.
“Seaaaaaaaaa!”
“Squirtle, squirtle!”
The Aero then responded with its own roaring noise; as if trying to scare them off—but they stood their ground; firm and ready to take on the world. To start things off, the Aero then began to boost is speed with a move that Izumi herself was beginning to favor quite a lot—Agility. “So, going for the hard-to-get approach, are you?” she began, folding her arms across her chest and searching her pockets to see if she had anything that would protect her from what was going to happen next. Seeing that she had none, she then quickly took shelter under a rocky crag not too far away before issuing her companions’ marching orders.
“Karitt, make it pour with your Rain Dance! Once you’re done, use Dragon Dance to boost yourself up! Ocean, start your target practice with alternating shots of Water Pulse and Ice Beam!” she barked out, before the two sprang into action—the Horsea suddenly crying out to the heavens, snout pointed at the sky—before a torrential downpour ripped through the area! Now that the Rain Dance had begun, the Horsea, in his own little way, began to perform his own aquatic version of Dragon Dance—a move she had on Ravana. At the same time, once the rain had started pouring down from the sky, the Squirtle stood ready, and began the opening salvo with Water Pulse! By this time, the Aero had already flown upwards and had boosted its speed even further with another application of Agility; and the Trainer knew that she was going to have to either stop the Aero dead in its tracks or resort to something a lot worse—the third and final option she always carried with her.
Now that the airborne Aero was up in the torrential downpour, it couldn’t see a thing past a few feet due to limited visibility—before a sudden blast of arctic energy caught it off-guard; for one of the Squirtle’s Ice Beam attacks had sailed too close to its face! The Aero then let out another roar; before quickly using the gained speed to chain into one last application of Agility, before dive-bombing and suddenly switching gears into a combination of Take Down, coupled with a Bite attack once it had come crashing into the Horsea, who grunted and was forced back due to the sudden impact. “Kari! Hang on! I know it’s going to be painful, but you can bear it! Catch it off-guard with a Hydro Pump if you can! Oceanus! Go on supporting fire with your Ice Beam! That was a nice shot earlier, by the way,” she added, before settling back down in order to be able to watch the madness unfold once more.
Bolstered by their Trainer’s words, the two then began to keep a sharper eye out for the Aero, just in case it decided to come too close towards them. The Fossil ‘mon, on the other hand, had decided to soar upwards in order to stall for time, the better to be able to think about what attack to execute next. It didn’t have too much time to think, however—because even through the torrential rain, there were two beams of energy that had sailed upwards—one of them arctic; the other, aquatic in nature. The Aero could only stare out of surprise as the combined Ice Beam / Hydro Pump attack had fused together and crated an even bigger arctic explosion of energy, hitting it full-on in the face and eliciting a painful screech as the frozen energy caught it and caused the Aero to fall to the ground, and fast!
“Alright, we’re out of here. Let’s go, guys! We still have to keep looking!” she shouted, quickly whistling over the downpour—and the Horsea, accompanied by the Squirtle, followed the raven-haired Trainer away from where the rain was starting to peter out…

It didn’t take too long for the traveling band to chance upon something else—and what that something else was (that the raven-haired Trainer had seen first) was definitely something that she didn’t want to battle all over again; simply because it was going to be something out of one of the ten circles of Hell if she even dared to engage it.
“Fighting that pink blob once was bad enough,” she muttered to herself, remembering her first encounter—when it had attempted to take the forms of her Braviary and Hydreigon, and ended up making a mess of itself instead—and the second one being a lot more disastrous, to boot—when she looked up once more and saw that the trembling rocky undergrowth was seemingly…heading in the opposite direction?
“Huh…?” was all she could get out as she watched what was supposed to be a blob of nothing but a face drawn into it with a sharp stick seemingly turn around and walk away! “That… is strange. Very strange. Karitt, Ocean, let’s go… we have much bigger fish to fry…” she muttered from one corner of her mouth before casting a glance at her two companions—one of them seemingly floating in mid-air; while the other one was clambering along rather haphazardly on the ground.

Another loud screeching noise echoed out not too far away from where they were headed, and as Izumi looked up towards the sky, she then saw a shadow swooping down low over them, letting out its ear-piercing shrieks and cries their way. “Oh, no. Don’t tell me you’re back for some more pain,” she began with a groan, sticking her fingers into her ears as she then caught sight of a familiar visage as it swooped by near where they stood, shouting its war cry their way. “Karitt, Ocean, let’s get moving; this thing means business… or it’s just really crazy and wants to be beaten up a second time around! Let’s go!” she shouted, pointing at the Aero that had now taken to hovering near where they stood, its jaw swinging rather hungrily in their direction.
Right then and there, the Aero had let out a series of ear-shattering shrieks; causing her to stick her fingers into her ears once more—but in reality, it was a Supersonic status change! The two ‘mons that she had out with her, unfortunately, weren’t as quick to pick up on what their Trainer had done; and were therefore caught in the ‘line of fire’, so to speak. It wasn’t until sometime later that the Trainer had noticed that they were walking like they had drunken way too much sake and a palm met her face several seconds later.
“Oy,” was all she could mutter as the Aero then began to pick up speed with a move she was beginning to favor a lot these days—Agility. As the blur sped by them, unloading another attempt at Supersonic, she then shouted over the racket, “Karitt, Ocean! Can you hear me? Can you understand me?!” she continued, hoping that at least one of the two would answer her.
The two were in the middle of what appeared to be a ‘hazy’ battle—at least from their perspectives. Both of them were unloading their attacks with reckless abandon on each other; thinking that the other was the ‘mon that they were supposed to be fighting. It wasn’t until the Aero had picked up the Squirtle and had used Sky Drop did the Horsea snap out of it; much to her relief. “Kari, be careful! That thing is going to drop—“ she got cut off as the Aero then chose to drop its payload (the Squirtle) right atop its head, causing the much-smaller ‘mon to cry out from the sudden weight that had landed atop its body.
The shock of landing with a loud splattering noise on the ground jarred the Squirtle out of its dazed state; and was quickly met with a jet of water, forcing it to scramble up and off the somewhat…flattened Horsea. “Ocean. I’m ashamed…” she continued in a low, dangerous voice; before the Aero came zooming around again; and was about to screech when she cut it off, “Karitt! Use your Rain Dance and cover us!” before it came in for another dive-bombing attempt.
This the Horsea complied to without a further thought, squealing towards the sky—and a ring of clouds gathered over where they stood; before a sudden burst of torrential rain poured over their spot. “Gah!” Izumi shrieked as she made way to run for cover, before the Aero suddenly began to feel the weight of the water pouring down on it. “Let’s go! While it’s disoriented! Catch it with Ice Beam, both of you! Yes, Ocean, even you! Kari, Ocean, NOW!” she shouted, pointing at the incoming Aero that was screeching at the top of its voice, an attempt to distract them while it was preparing what appeared to be its Iron Head attack. Two bursts of arctic energy shot out from the two ‘mons present, and combined into a single beam of overpowering ice that raced towards the Aero. It was quickly enough to dodge most of it; but a part of its wing had gotten nicked by the ice—it had resorted to Agility to dodge the combined attack before unloading its Iron Head on the stubborn Squirtle.
As the Tiny Turtle let out a pained yelp, she then glowered at the Aero; who was seemingly cackling her way. What was up with the stubborn, ancient geezer anyway? “Alright, Ice Beam sweeping attack once more, you two!” she shouted over the torrential downpour—not realizing that the Aero’s Pressure ability had kicked in and that she only had a few more uses of Ice Beam remaining. The two then took aim at the darting Aero, and in an attempt to corner it, the Horsea fired off its Ice Beam first, causing it to scatter once more via Agility and flying right into the second Ice Beam that the Squirtle had fired off. To put it simply, the prehistoric ‘mon had sailed right into a trap; and now not just one, but both its wings were nicked with ice, making its flight much more difficult.
“Alright, he’s slowing down! Karitt, switch tactics and use your Hydro Pump; Ocean, try to keep it away with your…” she trailed off, before seemingly going through the motions and flexing her own hands, before bringing them forward, palms joined together. “Kamehameha!” she shouted without realizing; which caused the Tiny Turtle to look at her with a confused look in its eye. The Horsea had already gone off and was now firing its Hydro Pump attack at full power; with the Rain Dance seemingly boosting its power due to the Water-type’s affinity for the weather. “Oh, you know… Aura Sphere!” she clarified in the Squirtles direction—and that it understood. “Keep up the salvo of water, Karitt—Ocean, try to home in on the Aero with that new attack! GO!” she shouted encouragingly—pointing at the incoming Aero once more; who was now attempting to use Sky Drop once again.
Several powerful jets of water had sailed by the Aero, which was seemingly dodging them with ease—and it wasn’t until much later did Izumi realize that there were no more blasts of water coming from the Horsea. “Karitt? What’s the matter?!” she began, looking at the Horsea, who was now looking back at her with a panicky look on its face. “Why isn’t your Hydro Pump working?!” she asked, hoping that nothing too bad had happened—the little sea horse didn’t look too exhausted at any rate. “Oh, shit,” was all she could mutter as the Squirtle was now having difficulty releasing the Aura Sphere attacks that it needed to keep firing. Well, shit, this is bad… do I have to hit it with low-powered moves? But that’s not fair! she thought in the back of her head—before the Aero attempted to come in once more with another application of Supersonic in a bid to catch the two surprised ‘mons off-guard.
“Karitt! Switch tactics, use your Disable on that Aero now! Ocean, let’s test out that Dragon Pulse of yours, see if it’ll last longer,” she continued, wanting to check if her suspicions were correct. After the Disable status-change had hit the Aero (and had consequently locked its Supersonic away for several turns) she then watched as the Squirtle began firing off beams of condensed draconic energy. After a few rounds, her earlier suspicions were confirmed—this Aero had a similar ability to her Claire’s. “Well, this thing isn’t going to last much longer… oh hell, whatever! Karitt, Ocean! Ice Beam that thing to kingdom come in a sweeping motion, we still have to search through the area!” she shouted several minutes later; as the downpour suddenly cleared out and revealed the Aero who was still struggling to stay airborne.
The two small ‘mons then attacked as one, unloading several bursts of arctic energy and scattering the ‘area of effect’ of the Ice-type attack. True enough, after several more attempts the beams of arctic energy had stopped coming—but it wasn’t important anyway; since the Aero was now trapped in a very solid block of ice. “That settles it… let’s go. This next one is going to be do or die,” she muttered, crouching down and picking up the two Water-types; they were looking somewhat exhausted by this point in time.

Post by Izumi Yamamura on May 30, 2015 0:53:48 GMT -5
Izumi was actually hoping that the after-effects of the Pressure that the last Aerodactyl had exuded from earlier had worn off by now; before taking a look at her two companions who were out on the field. The Horsea looked like it was just about ready to tip over from exhaustion; whereas the Squirtle was starting to show signs that it was getting worn out. “Alright, you two… I have a special treat for you. Don’t blink, now,” she remarked, plucking out the last containment unit she had with her and sending out its occupant in a flash of red light.
As her Gardevoir, Momiji hit the ground with a graceful air; the raven-haired Trainer then pointed at the two, before speaking up, “Erk. Uhhh, Momo? Hope you don’t mind. Can you heal these two up, make them feel better with your Heal Pulse?” she inquired, hoping that the Gardy was in an amicable mood. She’d noticed that as of late, her Gardevoir’s actions were dependent on how it was feeling, so it was most definitely wise to ask carefully before expecting some action. Thankfully, the Gardevoir was in a good mood, who then quickly complied by touching the foreheads of its two companions. As the healing energy coursed through their bodies, the extremely tense feeling that had surrounded the two Water-types had melted away, to be replaced by an air of contentment.
It didn’t take too long, however, for the peaceful scene to be ruined by a rather loud squawking—four pairs of eyes (three Pokémon, one human) looked up in confusion, trying to trace where the rather…strangled cawing call was coming from. “That’s strange…” the lone human remarked; while the Gardevoir resumed healing up its companions. “What could be causing that kind of—“ she trailed off, before she was caught off-guard by an unexpected, and most certainly unwelcome cawing noise that had come swooping down on them, hoping to catch then off-guard! The dark shape that had apparently been roosting in an unseen place had suddenly come sweeping down on them, shrieking its displeasure upon seeing that there were several intruders on its territory!
“AAAAAAAAAAARCHEN!” came the cry of what appeared to be a low-flying bird; and upon seeing it, the raven-haired Trainer then cracked a smirk, before pointing at it as it rounded for another attack on their party! “Ocean! Karitt! We’re getting that bird! No, it’s not for the crazy Professor who’s nuts about birds—seeing that he already has one—but that one’s going to be ours! Momo, stand behind me, will you?” she began, asserting herself several seconds later as the Archen then suddenly began to conjure up a flotilla of rocks that hovered around it for a few seconds, before sending it towards the two Water-types! She didn’t remember what attack it had used, but it was pretty much wise to get out of the way…! “Kari, Ocean! Dodge out of that! Scatter formation if you have to!” she began, watching as the Ancient Power attack came screaming in towards the two smaller Water-types.
The moment they’d heard their trainer’s voice, the two ‘mons then jumped out of the way—in the Horsea’s case, it floated—before the initial hail of rocks came crashing down, kicking up dust clouds upon impact. “Squirtle, squirt! SQUIRTLE!!!” the Tiny Turtle called out, beating its two stubby fists together; before quickly holding his ground and turning towards Izumi. “Ocean… yeah, you’re right. Let’s do this! Kari, are you okay?!” she called out over the fallen rubble, and she heard an affirmative cry of “Sea, horsea! SEAAAAA!” in response, as the sea horse appeared on the opposite side of the rubble, shaken but otherwise unharmed. “Let’s get started. Karitt, make it rain. Like, really hard. You know… use your Rain Dance technique! Then start shooting it out of the air with your Hydro Pump! We’re going to practice your aim, since I know that Hydro Pump requires a bit of aiming to land a direct hit,” she continued, before whistling in her Squirtle’s direction.
“Ocean, provide covering fire for Kari in whatever manner you can! Keep that Archen distracted while Kari sets up!” she added, making sure to duck down beneath a part of the area where the rain wouldn’t reach her.
The Horsea then took a deep breath, before squealing to the heavens—and the normally clear sky then suddenly became overcast, a smattering of dark storm clouds that suddenly unloaded a torrential last of rain that swept and covered the entire battlefield. On the other hand, the Archen was busy speeding itself up with Agility, and the raven-haired Trainer recognized the signs right away—having favored that particular move as well. “Kari! Let’s get going, the Archen’s picking up speed! Ocean! Kamehame—Aura Sphere that thing out of the sky before it gets too high!” she called out from her current position, standing beside the Gardevoir who was watching the battle rather curiously. As soon as the prehistoric ‘mon had taken off into the air, aided by its boosted speed by way of it having used Agility several times earlier—it was met with the pouring rain.
Not wanting to be daunted, it then began to conjure up not just one, but two simultaneous flotilla of rocks and sent the combined Ancient Power attacks over at the two—but even then, it was having a hard time aiming due to the pouring rain that was roaring down all around it. Several seconds after it had sent the mass of rocks in the general direction where it had guessed the two were hiding, a powerful ball of what appeared to be auric energy condensed into a sphere had slammed head-on into its body, causing it to shriek out loud; and inadvertently it had given away its position. “There!” a human voice cut through the pounding rain; and several moments later a super-charged blast of water came flying towards where it was hovering, trying to stay airborne!
“AAAAAAAAAAARCHEN!” it cried out once more, using another application of Agility in order to be able to get out of the way of the blast of water—but that wasn’t just the first. Several more powerful, hose-like jets came rocketing out of the sheet of rain, an attempt to swat it down. Back at where the two ‘mons were currently standing, the Squirtle had caught sight of what appeared to be another mass of incoming rocks; so instead of aiming its next application of Aura Sphere at the Archen, it had redirected and aimed not just one, but two successive blasts at the rather large collection of rocks that were headed their way! “SQUIRTLE!” it had cried out, watching as both balls of auric energy slammed into the incoming hail of rocks, shattering them to pieces and watching as another powerful blast of high-pressure water came pouring out from the Horsea’s mouth. The cry of the Archen had given it a general idea of where it was hovering, so the sea horse took aim and continued to release the bursts of water; all the while taking a guess as to where the hell the Archen was.
Over at where Izumi and the Gardevoir stood, she was watching the two working with the orders that she’d given her; with much interest. “You think they can work well together?” she asked the Gardevoir, to which the Embrace ‘mon could only shrug in her direction, before another alarmed cry from the Archen rang out—who knew what the two Water-types were up to in the pouring rain? She then frowned out of concern, trying to count how many turns they’d spent with the rain as their cover, before she called out, “Kari, Ocean! End it before the rain storm stops! You don’t have much time left!” before leaning back to observe the rest of the battle.
Before long, the torrential rainfall had cleared out—and the two then walked forward; before seeing a thoroughly drenched Horsea and Squitle with rather smug looks on their faces, before spotting a fallen figure not too far away from where they stood, lying atop the rubble it had called up in order to defend itself from the two intruders. “Well, you guys… you’ve got a good dynamic going together. It’d suck if I separated you,” she remarked in their direction, giving the two a respective pat on each of their heads before pulling out the empty Safari Ball and expanding it to full size before chucking it towards the passed-out fossil ‘mon, watching as it got sucked up into a flash of red light before clattering against the soaked rubble…

It didn’t take too long before the Safari Ball went off with a loud dinging sound, a noise that made the raven-haired Trainer raise up her hands out of victory; before giving the Horsea and Squirtle another very generous pat on their heads. “You both did a great job. Karitt, we still have to work on your aim, since Hydro Pump’s an attack that packs a lot of power, but can miss,” she began in the Horsea’s direction; to which it gave a delighted purring call.
She then turned to her Squirtle and continued, “Ocean, you blew me out of the water. How the hell was I supposed to know that you knew how to do the Kamehame—err, I mean, Aura Sphere all along? I know you came from the Safari Zone, not too far over there,” she remarked, pointing off into the distance, taking a guess as to where the Watering Hole area was located. “Where’d you get that?” she ended with a curious look at the Tiny Turtle ‘mon.
The Horsea was feeling very much proud of himself, gesturing towards the Safari Ball that lay atop the rubble with its fin—when something began to thrum from within. As a matter of fact, the same thrumming was coming from the Squirtle, who then turned to address his owner with a look before opening his mouth—and then the signs became very clear—the two were suddenly bathed in a bright light that had poured out from their bodies, causing Izumi to shriek and cover her eyes.
Oh Arceus, don’t tell me they’re…! she thought as she quickly turned away and the explosion of bright light shot through the clearing, engulfing the two smaller forms in the warm glow. The Gardevoir had also raised her limbs to cover her eyes from the sudden burst of light; and in a matter of seconds, it was over.
As the lights show cleared out, there stood two ‘mons—they were still her Karitt and Oceanus; however instead of seeing the Tiny Turtle ‘mon and the miniature sea horse, the two were looking more mature, somehow. “Tort? War…? WARTORTLE?!” the now-evolved Oceanus got out, before pointing one of his bigger paws at the much-larger sea horse, who was now packing a set of killer fins, a much longer snout—and a rather dour look on its face. “Dra? S-Seadra? SEADRA?!” the evolved Karitt warbled out as well, before Izumi heard the two addressing each other and scooping them both up into a tight hug.
“Oh, my gosh! Who knew you were going to change form all of a sudden?! You both did a great job!” she squealed as she hugged the two ‘mons, and in return they showed their affection in the best way they could. “Come on, let’s get out of here before the weather goes bonkers,” she remarked, quickly bending over to scoop up the occupied Safari Ball before dropping it down her pocket and making a hasty retreat from the Safari Zone.
