Here we see a severe (and I do mean severe) case of pretty boy syndrome. With flaxen hair that tumbles down his back and eyes doused in the colours of a summer sky, Linden looks as if he's drifted down from heaven. Standing at 5"8 feet (177 cm), his willowy frame is surprising toned, especially impressive for someone who had infamous health problems in his youth. His features are very finely tooled, his mouth full against the almost marble pallor of his face. Linden has the lean, veined hands of an artist and they are pure poetry to watch. Even his voice is appealing-- like rain against the surface of a lake, rhythmic and soothing.
What he wears is very dependant on his mood. In most situations, he dresses rather classy (maybe even too classy). That being said, his colour pallet generally revolves around yellows, creamy golds, and whites (though he's known to switch things up now and then). Most notable in the clothing department is a reoccurring white and gold school blazer which is embroidered with handsome gold stitching. Beneath this, a simple dress shirt accentuated by the bottle blue tie at his neck. Linden's pants are grey in colour and his footwear consists of creamy white boots. In his Gym Leader garb, Linden's wardrobe undergoes a drastic transformation. The stylish blazers and haute couture leg wear are replaced by billowing white robes and a decorative, gossamer-like headpiece of sorts. A professional drama queen (king?), he never was one for subtlety.

This man is all smiles and gentle manners, the silent and patient foundation to a rowdy crowd. He cooks, he cleans, he takes care of the messes with a laugh and an apology. Nothing seems to deter him from a pleasant mood. As a conversationalist, he is a cocktail of wit and frankness, and doesn't mind a round of playful flirting now and then. A good one-word summation of Linden's personality would have to be “emotional”. He displays a very wide range of emotions, and each emotion is expressed fully and passionately. Be it happiness, sadness, anger, or anything in between, Linden expresses it to an almost childlike extreme.
Behind the scenes, he is possessed by a certain melancholy. He once devoted his everything to a cause, and in the end it spat in his face. He also has a tendency of worrying over small, insignificant things and is quick to become depressed if his flaws are pointed out. Once upon a time, he had also been quick to cry–especially if he felt insulted over something he already knew was wrong with him. Whether he remembers the good times, or the abomination he left behind, Linden is possessed by feelings of guilt and loneliness. He wears his cloak nicely, but every now and then someone touches on something painful, and it can’t be helped. Love and loss leave deep marks indeed. Nowadays, though, he is much more reserved with his tears–and his feelings in general. He has constructed a facade of calmness–of being something he has never quite been able to be, but if you look closer, you'll find that he is not as put together as he first appears. His love for beauty is an appreciation of fleeting, delicate things, and he seeks perfection in that just like everything else in his life.
He has an innate charisma, prone to taking outsiders under his wing, and has served as a mentor to quite a number of kids, but he won't tolerate being regarded the same way. Basically, he has a habit of spoiling people but is adamantly against being spoiled himself, so anyone who underestimates him will trigger his dormant temper, and there'll be hell to play. And one more thing: for someone who's worked his whole life for the skills he has, meeting someone with natural talent who does nothing with it is like a slap in the face. Jealousy fuels his ambition, and he has more than once tried to disregard his relationships because he thought it'd bring him closer to his goal. Simultaneously selfish and selfless, he's at a constant war with himself, and it's only a matter of time before either side wins.

Linden was born to business tycoon, Vincent Lates, and his young wife, Cecily Evangelion. They lived in a sprawling manor house on the outskirts of Celadon City. Although his parents had once been decorated globetrotters, they fell in love with Celadon's distinct charm, seeing it as the ideal place in which to raise their young son. Cecily, who had not been blessed with such abondant wealth, made it clear from an early age, that money was something not everyone had the fortune of possessing. In fact, it was Cicely who'd so vehemently insisted they travel as she feared her husband, kind though he was, needed to see firsthand how fortunate they really were.
She needn't have worried.
An incredibly sweet boy, Linden quickly developed a wonderful sense of charisma which, coupled with his passionate desire to help other creatures, made him the poster child for all that was desirable in a little boy. Like his parents, Linden inherited their previous fascination in travel. Unsurprisingly, he spent countless days running about the manor's courtyards, these little "adventures" of his typically resulting in the premature demise of some prized flower.
It was his mother's idea to have him attend the local public school in lieu of sending him off to Kalos's prestigious academies. Socially, this may not have been the best decision, however, I'm inclined to believe Linden would have fit in no better at the Kalos Academy for Gifted Youths, than he did at Celadon Elementary. Being significantly wealthier than his fellow classmates, Linden immediately became a target for others to pick on. Even so, Linden eventually made a small circle of friends with whom he grew very close. Academically, he surpassed his entire class, showing a particular interest in Biology.
Shortly after his eighth birthday, Linden came down with a terrible bought of Pneumonia. Having always possessed a perfectly satisfactory health, his sudden collapse came as highly unexpected to those who knew him best. Although the initial illness was quick to pass, Linden's problems were only just beginning. Three months later, the Pneumonia returned, hitting with enough severity to keep Linden bedridden for weeks. It was to be the first of many "blitz attacks" which would eventually take their toll on Linden's increasingly weakening body. Following the second case of Pneumonia, Cecily and Vincent took great precautions to keep their son safe, pulling him from public school in favour of being home schooled when the commute proved too strenuous. Despite his parent's best efforts, the Pneumonia made regular reappearances, each bought leaving Linden frailer than before, until he'd all but lost the use of his legs-- a result of having been bedridden so frequently.
By the time Linden turned thirteen, his parents, no longer able to witness their son teeter between life and death, grew distant-- leaving him in the care of hired nannies. In fact, they came home so rarely, Linden often pretended he did not have parents in the first place. I should mention that they did send him birthday gifts along with generous cash donations (which were all of them discarded-- the money given to better causes and any gifts tossed unceremoniously in the trash). Big surprise. Eventually, the gifts stopped coming entirely, and he was left to his own devices (which suited Linden just fine since the last time he'd last seen his parents over a year ago).
Even in the aftermath of his parent's obvious disinterest, Linden continued to go about life in as normal a fashion he could, hindered only by an obvious lack of physical strength. Although he'd long ago accepted his fragility, Linden could not have been more surprised when, by some grace of God, his lingering frailness began to leave him. It wasn't an overnight miracle, though, and he had to work exceedingly hard to rebuild the muscles in his legs.
Pokémon battles were never something Linden saw himself enjoying, even before his illness made things like training impossible. He was dumbfounded then, when, on his fourteenth birthday, his parents sent him a Chikorita in the post. He was even more stunned when he discovered he had no intention of discarding aforementioned Pokémon, which had become the typical response to any brightly wrapped packages his parents might send him. What's more, he wasn't half bad at it either. In fact, Linden quickly became renowned amongst the local battle enthusiasts for his graceful and intuitive battle style.
Following his highly unexpected recovery, Linden went on to complete his final year of secondary education, graduating with honors. Despite his lingering fragility, Linden was offered an apprenticeship in Nue by none other than his childhood idol, Botanist Pamela Ivy. While the idea of leaving Kanto did not sit well with him (after all, he'd spent the entirety of his eighteen years there), Linden could not refuse this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and made arrangements to depart the following month.
Although hesitant, Linden came, just as his parents had with Celadon, to love Shui City. He also held his new master, Doctor Pamela Ivy, in the highest respect and admiration. To him, she acted as the missing parental presence he'd been robbed of during his abruptly cut childhood. As fate would have it, she too, shared a profound love for Pokémon battle, having previously been ranked amongst the highest on Nue's Best to Beat list. Under her tough love, he would blossom into a young man of both academic prowess and trainer status. More specifically, she spoke and stayed strong for him where his parents had not.
As Doctor Ivy's new apprentice, he was bullied into living with her, much to his initial discomfort (and to Pamela's amusement). Try as he might, she counterbalanced his serious personality and the two of them fed off each other's energies-- Linden becoming more sociable and Pamela in turn, less... well, eccentric? Endearingly enough, he still calls her every day and although they don't live together anymore, he'll drop by her place all the time and the two of them will revert right back into their former roles.
Torn between his love of Pokémon and loyalty to Pamela, Linden was hesitant to request an official league evaluation. As with many things, it would be Pamela's final word of encouragement that finally persuaded him to file the request. A former trainer herself, and long-standing ally of the association, Pamela played a large role in the approval of his evaluation. So when the report finally came back positive, Linden couldn't help but notice the decidedly smug look on her face (he then wondered if she'd done something to hasten his approval). Of course, facing the official league evaluators, was a whole different story. Linden passed, naturally, although he was a complete wreck to live with, panicking and being about ten times clumsier than usual (you kind of have to feel bad for Pamela...).
As he desired, Linden's inauguration was a quiet, albeit highly important event. To the general public, it seemed as if he'd simply appeared in their ranks overnight. Although Linden's plan to keep on the low may have been a complete backfire (his shyness coupled with the so-called "mysteriousness" of his induction, succeeded in making him rather popular, much to the poor man's disbelief), he wore the garb of Gym Leader very nicely. He was polite, patient, exceedingly good looking, and possessed the shy, innocence of a nervous schoolboy. Even so, Linden was more than capable of kicking ass when duty called, however he chose to be equally balanced with his feedback.
He's come a long way when you look back on the trying times life's chosen to give him. Hell, apparently he's even a good kisser (although personally, I don't think he's ever come close to kissing a girl)? Nowadays, he can be seen strutting about his leafy palace (AKA, his Gym) like he owns the damn place (which, technically, he kind of does) or avoiding his legion of dedicated fangirls (and boys).

PRODIGY.
It was his mother's idea to have him attend the local public school in lieu of sending him off to Kalos's prestigious academies. Even so, Linden eventually made a small circle of friends with whom he grew very close. Academically, he surpassed his entire class, showing a particular interest in Biology.
FALL.
RISE.
YOU'RE GONNA GO FAR, KID.

DEPARTURE.

While the idea of leaving Kanto did not sit well with him (after all, he'd spent the entirety of his eighteen years there), Linden could not refuse this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and made arrangements to depart the following month.
SEEKING GUIDANCE.

THIS IS IT.
Gender: Male
Age: 22
Relatives: Unknown
Astrological Sign: Taurus
Date of Birth: April 29th
Ethnicity: Norse
Height: 5"8
Weight: 136 lbs
Blood Type: O
Hobbies: Dance, Botany, Painting/Sketching
Linden was a fragile child who's faltering health made things such as riding a bike or learning how to swim, nearly impossible. As he became older, his condition worsened considerably until there was very little he could do save lie in bed and be waited on hand and foot by his family's vast array of servants. Although those days are long over, Linden never managed to fully overcome his illness. As result, he is prone to the occasional fainting spells. These typically occur when he overexerts himself, although they can be brought on by emotional stress or upheaval.
How to Date Someone by Linden:
Step 1: Be hot, blonde, and also a Gym Leader.
Step 2: Move a little and fall on thin air.
Step 3: Keep on falling. Don't worry, you'll finally score the girl (or guy).
Step 4: Fall on top of her (or him).
Step 5: Congrats. You scored yourself a girl (or guy).
