She could only guess as to why there was a… ‘reshuffling’ that had happened in the Safari Zone. The last time that Izumi had come to pay a visit, she knew that most of the Grass-type starters were in Area 1, while the Fire-types were mostly concentrated in Area 2. Now, to see that the listing had been…scrambled, she knew that she was going to have one hell of a time looking for the fox that Josh didn’t have yet. Much as she wanted to lend him Tyche, her own Fennekin for a breeding, the fox wasn’t available to be bred at the express request of the source where she’d obtained aforementioned Fennekin.
So, in order to make up for that little oversight, she then hauled herself to the newly-revamped Safari Zone, and handed her tag over after going through the body check. Once she’d been given the green light to go ahead and search, and the gates were opened for her—she then stepped outside; scanning the entire place. The lands themselves were unchanged—it was the occupants who’d been moved around, for reasons yet unknown.
Squaring her shoulders, she then marched off towards Area Four, which had been reassigned for the little thing she was looking for. Sure, she already had Oceanus (and was extremely surprised to find out that for some strange reason her Squirtle had picked up on a move that she’d already dubbed as a certain attack existing in another series entirely because the way of execution looked so damned similar) but this wasn’t for her, this was for the shampoo commercial model!

Today was going to be a long day, it seemed—even if Izumi had just grabbed what appeared to be three PokeBalls, she’d accidentally grabbed a fourth and didn’t realize it until she’d checked her pockets. Sure, the pink Love Ball that had her Gardevoir was there, as was one of her Eevees (she was pretty sure this one was Yukime since she’d already placed a sticker on it, in order to help identify it) but there were one—no, two containment units that she didn’t recognize.
Wondering what the hell could be inside them, she then looked up when she heard the sounds of…something approaching where she stood. “Oh boy, here we go,” she began, banking on the chance and then popping three of the four containment units to full size; before sending out their occupants in a flash of red light.
The first flash of light to hit the ground was the Eevee that she was currently training Yukime—however the second one came out as a surprise. It then transformed into the shape of something green; that had a flower-like bulb growing out of its back; before proceeding to tackle her legs. “Whoa, whoa there, Ariadne!” she began, chuckling as the overly-affectionate Bulbasaur began rubbing itself up against her leg. The third flash of light hit the ground with a thud so loud, the ground shook for a few moments. She didn’t realize that her Beldum had seemingly evolved without her knowing—but, for the record—why the hell was ‘he’ glimmering a shade of pink all of a sudden? “Za—Zan?!” she began, blinking as she took in her Metang’s new form—he was bigger, alright; however the coloration was what threw her off altogether.
“How in the hell did you turn pink…” she trailed off; before the approaching noise finally revealed itself—it looked like something she hadn’t seen yet. “Oh well… time to get some practice in,” she began, before pointing forward. “Yuki, stay beside me, just watch them fight for now, okay?” she crooned in the Eevee’s direction; who then proceeded to park himself near her, watching the entire thing with interest. Now that the Bulbasaur and the Metang were on the field, she knew that it was going to be a ‘now or never’ thing.
“Alright, Zan. You remember our drills right? Iron Defense, set up nice and steady; do it twice if you may please. Ari, go and begin with your Power Whip first… and resort to Seed Bomb if necessary,” she added; watching as the now-pink Metang began burnishing its body; bolstering its defenses as much as he’d been instructed to; while the Bulbasaur quickly whipped out its tendrils and snaked them towards the incoming Cranidos!
The Cranidos was caught off-guard due to the sudden lashing it had received; and cried out in pain—before quickly aiming at the now-pink Metang. Seeing as the Metang was still in the middle of raising its defenses, it then closed the gap and then began to unload Chip Away; finding and striking the ‘weak points’ of the Metang relentlessly. Of course, since her Zan had now beefed up his Defenses to a safe point, the Cranidos was hacking away at a metal wall; idiom permitting.
The Bulbasaur was now sauntering around, still attempting to lash the Cranidos with Power Whip—since apparently the weird thing was now incensed and was now relentlessly attempting to damage the pink Metang with as much as it could muster. The Metang was unperturbed at this; but she could tell that Zan was losing patience—if the ominous-sounding grating wasn’t an obvious sign, then she didn’t know what else would be.
“Zan, wait until it comes close… then retaliate with Iron Head. Show him how you do things,” she continued, watching as the Cranidos came in again, charging with his head down. The Metang then met the incoming rush with its own Iron Head attack—all the while, the Bulbasaur had now switched tactics and was now firing off what looked like hard-shelled seeds at the target! “Keep it up! Don’t let that mad thing get to you!” she shouted from the sidelines; and the Metang had managed to drive back the Cranidos—rushing in again with intent to Chip Away at its oppressors’ health.
The Cranidos kept on ramming itself against the pink metal wall—and after several more minutes of attempting to knock out the Metang, the Cranidos instead flopped over to one side, completely exhausted. “Ari, now!” she shouted; and the Bulba then switched tactics once more; releasing its tendrils and lashing away at the exhausted dinosaur. This continued on for a few more minutes; until she then whistled sharply. “Alright, you two. Let’s look deeper,” she continued, scooping up the Eevee and then travelling deeper into the fourth Area of the Safari Zone.

Now that they had managed to put some distance between themselves and the weird thing that had a dome for its head, Izumi and her companions began to wade through the place; hoping that their presence wouldn’t be easily spotted. Unfortunately, though, since they made a lot of noise (mostly due to Zan’s rather unique noises) they would be easily spotted by whatever was grazing not too far ahead! “Oh, come on guys! Try to keep it down,” she began in a hissing whisper, hoping that they wouldn’t be spotted.
Alas, though, it wasn’t meant to be; for something had roared—and was now headed their way! “Oh, shit,” she muttered, holding her breath as the loud stomping grew closer—until it finally emerged. She then blinked and saw that it looked familiar… it then hit her that she already had one of these guys.
“Oh, it’s a Rex look-alike,” she began—but right then and there, the little Tyrunt let out a grunt, before roaring as loudly as he could manage; and then starting things right off the bat by summoning a flotilla of rocks and hurling them at where she stood! Izumi then let out a shriek of surprise; before the pink Metang and the Bulbasaur rushed forward; seeing the airborne obstacles and attempting to swat them out of the air. “Araidne! Zan! HELP ME!” she shrieked; and without further ado the Bulbasaur quickly unleashed her appendages, attempting to swat down as much as she could. Knowing that just knocking them out of the air was going to take some time, she then decided to resort to Power Whip, lashing her own two whips around as wildly as she could, trying to catch as many of the rocks as she could without hurting her Trainer.
The pink Metang, on the other hand, had other ideas… quickly waving a hand, the entire area suddenly grew… heavier. What was going on? Little did Izumi know that her Metang had been…busy, and had picked up new moves without her realizing it. As the rocks clattered to the ground, she then looked up; her Bulbasaur was feeling fine; although—what was it with the tension in the area, why did it feel like something was pressing down on her?
“Zan? You… you did that?” she began, outright staring at the cherry-blossom pink Metang, who then shrugged her way before taking the lead. “Alright… errr… Ariadne, use your Power Whip as much as you need to; that thing means business!” she began, and the Bulba let out a war cry, before scurrying behind the pink Metang and unleashing her appendages once more, soaring above the Metang’s head.
The Tyrunt bellowed as the Ancient Power had fallen flat on its face; and was in the middle of conjuring another flotilla of rocks and was now screaming towards the two Pokémon—when the barrage of rocks were swatted out of the air thanks to the Power Whip attack that was now wildly flailing around. The Metang then looked at Izumi again; before facing forward—what was up with the pink thing? “Oh, wait, I know…” she muttered; and after plucking the last containment unit and sending out its occupant in a flash of red light, the Gardevoir appeared, tall and graceful.
“Momiji, can you… try to talk with Zan? I’m still confused at what he’s doing,” she began; while the Bulbasaur was still in the middle of swatting the obstacles out of the air. “Ari, keep up the barrage with your Power Whip—resort to Growth, as well as Seed Bomb if you need to,” she continued; watching as the little Grass-type stepped out from behind the Metang, intent on facing this tyrant one-on-one.
Several confusing minutes later, Izumi saw images flashing in her mind; courtesy of Momiji. It was mostly snippets of the conversation that she’d had with the Metang; and as the images flashed one by one in her mind’s eye, she then cast a devious look at her Metang, wondering just what shenanigans he’d been up to. “So, you sneaky little thing… picking up new moves without telling me first at least, are we?” she began in Zan’s direction—to which she heard a derisive-sounding chuckle (if Metangs could even chuckle) coming from the pink Pokémon.
Now that she had a better idea of what was going on, she then attempted to get her Metang moving, “Go and try… uhh, what was that… Psychic! Lob two of them at that tyrant if you have to!” while pointing forward. Over at where the Tyrunt was now trying to break free of the incessant lashing of appendages courtesy of the Bulbasaur, the little dinosaur then quickly bit down as hard as he could with a loud Crunch, causing the Bulbasaur to cry out in pain! Now that the tyranno had some leverage against the Bulbasaur, it then quickly took advantage—by swinging the Bulba around like he was the ball part of a mace; refusing to let go of the appendages.
As the Bulba squealed in pain, two bursts of barely-visible energy went screaming towards the Tyrunt, who was apparently having a good time flinging around the Bulba like she was a paperweight. The Tyrunt never knew what had hit it; because the two blobs of Psychic caught him off-guard; causing him to release his hold on the Bulba’s appendages. “ARI! Are you okay?!” she screeched, rushing over to the Bulba and checking if the appendages were alright. Thankfully, there was no blood—but that was the last straw. She then quickly shifted the Eevee in her hands onto her shoulder (and advised him to hold on tight) before quickly carrying the Bulbasaur—who knew she was heavy—and then facing the pink Metang once again.
“Zan. Do it. Earthquake. Send him into the chasm!” she shouted; cradling the Bulba in her hands and steadying her feet. The Tyrunt was about to walk away—when a violent tremor shook the area; catching it off-guard and sending it running away, tail between its legs! The tremors continued until the Tyrunt had vanished from sight; and she then set the Bulba back down on the ground. “There, there Ariadne… no more of that beast to hurt you,” she whispered softly, giving the bulb-like protrusion a gently pat as the Grass-type then hopped out of her arms and rejoined her pink-colored companion.

It didn’t take too long for the unusual band of travelers who were searching through the Safari Zone to come across something—and boy was that something really pissed off at their presence! Who knew that the Tyrunt they’d chased away would collide with an even angrier Tauros and send the bull-like Pokémon flying into a screaming rage at the sight of the little tyranno-like ‘mon?! The ground began to shake and rumble rather badly; as the Tauros came charging into the clearing where the unusual crew of one human and three Pokémon were traversing like there was nothing else that could stop them. “Oh, fuck,” was all that Izumi had time to say, before silently pointing forward and watching as her fabulous Metang and rather skittish Bulbasaur took to the stage in order to stop the rampaging bull in its tracks.
“Zan, throw up a… wait which one was it…Reflect!Yeah, that one! Get that one up first, and then boost your speed up with… Agility!” she began, still unable to believe that her Metang had just gone on ahead and was now pimping out a new set of moves entirely. The Bulbasaur watched as the incoming Tauros, who was most likely using Zen Headbutt (because a portion of its head, as well as the horns were glowing in a familiar hue that Izumi instantly recognized) began to run forward, headed right at the two interlopers who’d crashed into his path! The pink Metang then flung out not just one, but both limbs; and a barrier that shimmered in a certain color materialized; before snapping and disappearing; she could only guess if that would hold up. “Ari, cover Zan with your Seed Bomb!” she continued; before watching the Bulbasaur leap into the air; before suddenly looking down and unleashing a hail of hard-shelled seeds from her mouth as the pink automaton then relaxed its body and felt lighter on its…feet, so to say.
The incoming Tauros was just about ready to gore its horns into the Metang—when the distraction from above suddenly pelted him across the back, shoulders; all the way until the Bulbasaur had landed on the opposite side of the Tauros. “Nicely done, Ari. Now, let’s do that again! Keep distracting the Tauros with Seed Bomb!” she continued; and this time the Bulbasaur began to spit out even more hard-shelled seeds; but she didn’t take to the air; instead she was aiming for the legs of the Tauros. “Zan! Take it by surprise and slug it up with your Bullet Punch!” she added; hearing the Tauros’ howl of shock as the hard-shelled seeds began pelting its legs; causing it to toss and turn its head. “Metaaaaaaang!” the blur of pink cried out before quickly closing the distance, with its boosted Speed; before delivering a series of quick punches on the unsuspecting Tauros. “Keep it up, Zan! Bullet Punch that Tauros again! Ari, shift tactics and assault with Power Whip from the opposite side!” she continued, quickly folding her arms and watching the scene unfold.
To the Eevee that was riding on her shoulders, she cooed, “Just watch the two in action, okay Yuki? You’ll get your turn soon enough,” she added, before hearing the sounds of punches echoing through the clearing; along with whipping noises cutting through the air. In its defense, the Tauros then quickly gored its head at the Metang—she didn’t know what he’d done, was it Zen Headbutt or Horn Attack; but either way, the hail of punches stopped for a few moments before feeling the pain impact his pink body. Izumi then flinched as the Metang let out a howl of pain; before seeing that the Tauros was taking the momentary lapse in attacks from the frontal side to quickly slam its entire head in another Zen Headbutt at the pink Pokémon! “Zan! Counter that with your own Zen Headbutt; and I can’t believe that I’m going to say this… but, uhh… try out that new thing you got! What was that…Meteor Mash!” she stammered out a few moments later; looking at the Gardevoir for confirmation; who then nodded as she’d gotten the move name correct.
During the time that the odd party was traversing towards their destination, the Gardevoir and Metang had been mostly ‘communicating’; in turn the Gardevoir projected the images of what she’d picked up from the Metang into Izumi’s mind’s eye. She was still struggling to wrap her head around the fact that Zan was now packing a killer move set without her even realizing it; and could only watch as the Metang’s own head collided with the Tauros’; causing her to clap her hands over her ears due to the sound of the two heads smashing against each other. “Ari, keep up the Power Whip barrage, switch to Seed Bomb and keep distracting the Tauros as you need to!” she added, before witnessing the Metang throw back one of his limbs and then delivered a sock to the guts; a powerful slug that had knocked most of the wind out of the infuriated Tauros. “Ouch… that’s Meteor Mash?” she began, flinching as a look of indescribable pain flashed across the Tauros’ face.
The Bulbasaur continued to unload the continuing barrage of Power Whips; lashing as hard as she could manage without getting too close (after all, the vines could extend as far as they could and that was still some distance even) before dropping the whips and alternating to spitting out hard-shelled seeds once more; bringing the Tauros down to its knees. “Whoops… come on guys, let’s bounce before that thing recovers,” she muttered, quickly making a dash across the battlefield and scooping up the slightly heavy Bulbasaur in her hands; before whistling in the Metang’s direction to follow her out of the area. My luck is running out… I need to find that Fennekin at least! If not, then this is some hell of a crazy training trip… she mused to herself as she went deeper into the Area she was currently traversing, accompanied by her cohorts.

After the odd little band of one human, four Pokémon had managed to send the Tauros packing, the group then decided to continue the trek through the area that they were traversing. Who knew that the heavens would throw a monkey wrench into their searching plans; and they’d encounter the same thing that they’d stumbled on the first time?!
Once the little crew had traversed through enough greenery and rocky out paths, they then caught sight of something that shared a color scheme with an individual that they’d encountered earlier—what was it doing back, did it want another beating? “Oh, not him again!” she groaned, quickly groping around her pockets for the can of Repel that she always carried with her, on the off chance that they’d encounter something similar to this scenario.
The Bulbasaur and the pink Metang then made their move forward, ready—more like raring to get their moves practiced on the Cranidos when it noticed something… rather ironic. Letting out a frightened cry, the Cranidos then vanished back into the undergrowth; because his younger brother was the one that had alerted him about the band of travelers that had a weird-ass pink Metang that could literally knock them into the next century if it got close enough!
“Alright… desperate times call for desperate measures…” she muttered, rummaging around in her back pocket and then quickly releasing the seal on the can of Repel; watching as the mist shrouded their merry little group. Who knew what they were going to run into this time, would they get lucky?

As the mist that the can of Repel emitted cleared, Izumi and company looked around—trying to see what they’d gotten. Unfortunately for them, it wasn’t the little fox that she had; it was something she’d already had at one time in the past. “Huh…?” she began, looking at it rather critically, before finally identifying it for what it was—a Shieldon! Wondering why the heavens had tossed her a monkey wrench at this point in time, she could only chuckle softly under her breath for a few moments, before finally pointing forward.
“Alright. Zan, Ariadne… let’s get that sucker and get out of here. We still got more fish to fry,” she continued, watching as the pink Metang and the Bulbasaur moved forward. Now that they were in clear view of the Shieldon, it then bristled for a few moments—she knew that it wasn’t going to go down without a fight.
Right then and there, the Shieldon then proceeded to use Taunt, making a face that said ‘come and have a go, if you’re hard enough’ right in the direction of the two! “Oy, this is going to be bad…” she groaned, smacking a palm to her face—because with the way that they’d been Taunted, her cohorts could only use attack moves for a certain number of turns. “Well, that’s Agility out the window…” she muttered, before formulating a new plan—they had three turns to stew before they could boost properly.
“Alright, Ariadne. Get started with a Seed Bomb and Power Whip combination attack; make sure to land on top of Zan! I know that this is an unrehearsed move, but I hope it works! Zan! Slug that sucker out with Bullet Punch, and try to catch the airborne Ariadne before you launch that Earthquake!” and watched as her ‘mons rolled out, the better to be able to get on the move!
Now that the Shieldon had trapped them into only attacking, it then let loose with a flotilla of rocks—before letting them fly towards the Bulbasaur! Unfortunately for the Shieldon though, the incoming flotilla of rocks that was its Ancient Power attack was shattered into pieces by the payload of hard-shelled seeds that was the Seed Bomb—who knew that the small seeds were powerful enough to make rocks like that explode?!
At the same time, the Power Whip then lashed out at the rocks, sending the unbroken ones back at the Shieldon! While it was preoccupied in trying to deflect the attacks coming from the Bulbasaur, the Metang then moved in as fast as it could before aiming a series of hard-fisted punches, whacking and pummeling the Shieldon!
Even if it hadn’t done much, the Metang had a plan; and looked up to the sky; before moving in accordance to where the Bulbasaur was now landing—catching it with a loud clanging noise echoing all around. “Perfect. Ariadne, hang on tight! Zan, go do your Earthquake, now!” she continued, bracing herself as a violent tremor ripped through the area, rippling out from the point of impact where the Metang had slammed its fists down, causing an Earthquake to shake through the area!
Oh, shit. Have to watch out for landslides… were her first thoughts—but what on earth was the Shieldon doing? She didn’t recognize the attack it had used, but then felt another tremor rocking through the area—how the hell did it know Earthquake?! “WHOA!” she shrieked as the ground shook again—but the Shieldon had done something she didn’t know of; it was Metal Burst; a retaliation attack that dealt twice the damage to whatever had hit it last.
The Metagross had no way of knowing this, but she had to get him out of the way, and fast! “Zan! Evade as best as you can! Ariadne, get lashing with Power Whip again! Keep it up and just hammer into the Shieldon!” she shouted, watching as the Metang raised its arms in an attempt to block; while the Bulbasaur then quickly boosted itself off from its ‘ride’ before launching a series of appendages, whipping madly, wildly. The Shieldon was taken aback by the sudden attack from above; and attempted to retaliate with another Ancient Power—but the barrage of Power Whip attacks were just overwhelming it, even if it wasn’t doing too much damage. “Zan! Grin and bear with it, use your Earthquake again while Ariadne’s up in the air! Ari! Keep off the ground and just use Power Whip against that incoming barrage of rocks, send it back to the Shieldon!” she shouted, hoping that this crazy stratagem would work.
Back on the ground, the Metang would slam its fists down again, and again—as two more ripples emanated from the point of impact, while the Bulbasaur would attempt to gain more airtime by Power Whipping all of the incoming Ancient Power projectiles back at the Shieldon, taking it by surprise again. That’s two. One more turn and then we can really get going! She continued to muse to herself, watching as the Shieldon tried to stand up against the two successive Earthquakes that had rocked the area. The ripples were doing a number on its health—and before long, it had tipped over at the same moment the tremors came to a halt. “Whoa. Overkill much, Zan? Catch Ariadne for me, will ya?” she remarked, before giving the Eevee perched in her arms a chin tickle.
“That’s how it’s done,” she remarked with a grin, before popping up the Safari Ball to full size and tossing it at the Shieldon, watching as it got absorbed in the flash of red light before falling to the ground, quivering…

As the Safari Ball went off with a loud click, the Trainer (as well as her cohorts assembled) began to look at it nervously. Even until now, seasoned as she was in catching Pokémon she was still nervous—what if the Pokémon within chose to broke out and asked for another round of getting pummeled and tossed around? Thankfully, though, the containment unit went off with a loud dinging noise; a sign that the Shieldon contained within had given itself over to the containment unit and was in for the long run. At the same time this happened, though, the Bulbasaur that was standing atop the back of the pink Metang suddenly toppled over and hit the ground with a loud crashing noise, causing Izumi to look up in alarm!
“Ariadne!” she shouted, quickly making a break over to where the Bulbasaur had collapsed from her perch, looking particularly exhausted. “Hey, are you alright?!” she began, scooping up the Bulbasaur with trembling hands. Little did she realize, however, that from the spot where her Bulba had landed, a patch of grass had begun to grow—and her attention to it was completely diverted; at least until her Gardevoir pointed it out. “Voir…” she heard Momiji warble out, tapping her shoulder before pointing to the patch of grass that had suddenly come into being—whereas moments before, there was none. “Huh? What in the… Ariadne?” she trailed off, looking at the Bulba that had now fallen asleep in her hands.
“Well… either way, I hope Ariadne’s going to be okay…” she muttered a few moments later, quickly recalling everyone back to their containment units and nodding in the Gardevoir’s direction, who then tapped her shoulder again and Teleported themselves out of the Zone.
