She knew that it was inevitable. After checking all of her “collection” of the so-called “starters” scattered across all of the known regions of the old world, she then realized that she was missing just one more, and it was one that was proving to be unnaturally elusive; it was something that accompanied the Oshawott and the Snivy from the Unova region. Izumi knew that there were a lot of people who had Tepigs, but unfortunate they were all sterile, so there was no other choice but to hunt for the actual ‘mon itself in the Safari Zone. This makes for a good training trip too, might as well get them all ready to move on to the big leagues… she mused to herself; having just four containment units with her instead of the usual six.
After giving the pass to the guard on duty and submitting herself to the inspection, she was then given the go-ahead to start prowling through the area, and after the gates opened, she then shot through them like an arrow, and made her way towards the part of the Zone that was marked with “Area Two”, designated by signposts leading up to the zone proper itself. She then realized that Area Two was mostly mountainous crags, and was secretly glad that she’d brought Momiji along; they could quickly get down to the bottom of the place if just in case their search ended abnormally early. “Alright, time to start looking…” she trailed off, looking up at the mountain and then observing it rather critically, before deciding to start the upwards trek to the summit of the place…?

It didn’t take too long for Izumi to come across something—and the thing that she’d sighted reminded her of Ravana’s younger form; back at a time when her misbehaving Charmeleon was just a happy-go-lucky, rambunctious little Charmander who always loved following her around. “Aww, it looks so… WHOA!” she shrieked a few moments later as the amicable-looking Charmander near her suddenly shifted gears and breathed out a burst of flames that were headed her way. She then made to dive down and out of the way, before realizing that the Cha wasn’t too friendly to her at that point. “Urgh, let me guess, you don’t want humans on your territory… alright, fine, have it your way,” she hissed, before plucking one of her three Eevee’s containment units and sending out the one she wanted to raise into a Glaceon—and it was so ironic, she’d already picked out a name for him!
As Eevee number two, who Izumi had now nicknamed Yukime hit the ground after emerging from the flash of red light, she then pointed ahead at the aggressive-looking Charmander, whose mouth was now brimming with flames. “Alright, Yuki! You see that Charmander right there? Let’s try out your new move on him, shall we?” she began, before the joyful little Eevee then hopped around and nuzzled her legs. Right then and there, the Charmander then released another burst of flames, which looked to be either Flamethrower or Fire Spin, that sailed over the Eevee’s head. In response, Yukime stood his ground, waiting for orders. “Alright, uhh, let’s try out your moves first… how about a Swift right at that incoming thing?” she began, pointing as the Charmander then suddenly veered in extremely close before unleashing a ball of draconic-looking energy!
“Eevee!” she heard her lone companion cry out, before dashing forward and then breathing out a ray comprised of star-shaped projectiles, which soared through the clearing, crashing head-on with the Dragon Rage attack that the Charmander had fired! Both attacks met in the middle, before suddenly exploding in the middle, knocking the two back! “Vee!” she heard him cry out in pain, before skidding back several paces. “Yuki! Hang in there! It’s not too painful, is it?” she asked, and the Eevee shook his head, before standing tall and awaiting the next attack. “Come on, you can do it! Let’s try your Quick Attack on that Charmander!” she continued and then waited for the Eevee to spring into action, seeing the little brown blur zip through the haze and suddenly closed the distance between itself and the Charmander, before slamming into the little Fire-type!
“Chaaaaaar!” she heard the Charmander cry out in pain, before retaliating with a Flame Burst attack, catching the Eevee full-on and forcing him back. “Stand strong!” she shouted from the sidelines, before suddenly getting an idea. “Let’s try the bait and switch, let’s go attempt Dig!” she shouted through the haze, and the Eevee nodded, spurred on by his Trainer. The Charmander then tried another attempt at Fire Spin, but as the vortex of flames went soaring through the clearing—where had the Eevee gone?! She then looked up and saw that there was a hole where the Eevee had stood a few moments earlier, and that Yuki was now underground. “Alright, Yuki, listen to my voice! Don’t come out yet, there’s fire aboveground… and he’s on the move. The Charmander is on the move!”
Underground, the Eevee could hear Izumi’s voice, and continued to wait for further instructions—while the Charmander went on a rampage up on the surface. Over at where Izumi stood, she then saw that the Fire-type was taking advantage of the fact that she was defenseless now, and had no Pokemon out on the field! “You might want to… HELP!” she shrieked as the Flame Burst attack then came very close to frying all her hair, before the Eevee then frantically dug upwards, up, up as fast as he could. Izumi was shrieking as the flames were now shooting up above the air near her, before the ground beneath the Charmander rumbled—and it was taken by surprise as the Eevee then came out of the ground, slamming its entire body weight into the Charmander, who was completely taken by surprise at the sudden re-appearance of the Eevee and let out a cry of pain!
“Alright, that’s it! Swift, then try that Quick Attack again!” she shouted from the nearby bush, as the Eevee then released another ray of the star-shaped projectiles, before letting the ray act as a distraction as the Eevee then cut across, before slamming its entire body weight into the Charmander once again, sending it off-balance and causing the next blast of fire to erupt skywards instead of near where Izumi was cowering out of fear. The Charmander then attempted to stand up, but the Eevee was now enraged—nobody threatened his mistress’ life and got away with it! The Eevee then charged forward again with another Quick Attack, before knocking the Fire-type off its feet and smashing into it again with another Quick Attack! Over at where Izumi was hiding, she could hear the sounds of battle, and cautiously looked up—before seeing that her Eevee was now evidently infuriated, slamming itself over and over into the Charmander.
“Come on, Yuki, that’s enough… let’s go in deeper into the Area…” she called out, before the Eevee, furious with rage, slammed itself into the Charmander one last time with another Quick Attack before trotting over to where the dishelved Izumi was waiting for him to approach her.

Little did Izumi and Yukime realize that the higher they climbed the mountainous area, the more…savage the Pokémon they encountered would be. The two then stopped to linger long enough before navigating the next set of obstacles, while she fished out a battered Love Ball and then brought out Momiji, her Gardevoir, to travel alongside them. As the tall, graceful Embrace ‘mon revealed herself from the flash of red light, she then nodded in Momiji’s direction, before letting the Eevee she had out hop into her arms. “Can you heal Yuki for me, please? He got…quite a battering from a Charmander we encountered not too long down there,” she said, indicating the place they’d come from, and with a solemn nod, the Gardevoir then reached out her limbs and gently tapped the Eevee, before showering the brown fox-like Pokémon with healing energy that she was emanating.
At first, the Eevee was whimpering because of the painful attacks that it had received from the Charmander earlier, but the longer the Gardevoir had its limbs tapped on his forehead, the aches and pains were going away. Why was he feeling better… and had a sudden wellspring of energy, all of a sudden? He then looked up inquiringly at the Gardevoir, all curious, and the Embrace ‘mon just nodded before finishing the healing treatment. As she took her “arms” away, the Eevee then turned around to face Izumi, before slowly rubbing himself up on her knee—she’d gone down into a crouching position, the better to be able to hold the Eevee close. Just as Momiji had finished the helaing treatment; another presence announced itself in the form of a Torchic… and that definitely took Izumi back to the days when Zira was still in her extremely cute, baby form.
Only thing was, this Torchic was very aggressive! Right from the get-go, the little Chick ‘mon quickly unleashed a splattering of sand, having used Sand-Attack in an attempt to drive them away! “HEY! That was so not nice!” the Trainer shouted at the Torchic, waving a fist at it. The Gardevoir could only shrug and just watch as the fully-healed Eevee then hopped forward and stood ready, to defend her from harm! “A-are you sure, Yuki?” she asked, to which the Eevee nodded, before watching its tail bristle up. “Alright, then. Go forth and use Dig! This one looks like trouble!” she said, pointing forward. With a cry of, “Eevee!” the little brown fox sprang into motion, before quickly tearing up the ground in front of him and going deep underground. Now that there was a hole where the Eevee was, the Torchic could only look around, bewildered, trying to figure out where the hell its target had gone.
The Torchic then decided to tighten its focus by using Focus Energy on itself, the better so that it could trap the weird thing. Now it was a waiting game… and Izumi knew that the Eevee could hear her, even while underground. “Yuki! Not yet! He’s planning something!” she continued, and the Eevee just waited there; before the Torchic threw up another barrier of sand, trying to deter the human Trainer. “Alright, now!” she shouted, and the Eevee then dug upwards towards the surface, just as the Chick ‘mon leapt up high and came down with a Slash attack on the Eevee, caught by surprise! The Eevee then cried out in pain, before skidding off to one side. The Torchic then unloaded Fire Spin, and the vortex of spinning flames closed in… “Go under with Dig again! Hurry!” she shouted again, and the Eevee was about to tunnel back when the vortex had effectively trapped him.
“VEE!” she heard him cry out, as the flames were spinning around, trapping him. “Bear with it, Yuki! Hang on!” she continued, before the Fire Spin continued to lick at his fur, and he was wincing in pain. “Dig, now! Find an opening!” she continued and the fox then began to rip up the ground once again, vanishing from the heat and seeking the cool solace of the ground. the Torchic’s flames petered out, and he was now on the offensive, using Focus Energy again—because of the Slash earlier that had hurt the Eevee. “Alright… more… NOW!” she shouted and the Eevee took his cue, digging upwards before slamming his body against the Torchic, who was now sent backwards out of surprise as the shower of dirt pummeled his form. The Eevee was now on the offensive—and had decided to take things into his hands. Before Izumi could issue another order, the Eevee then launched a ray of star-shaped projectiles, cutting through the ground and smacking the Torchic up the head; before landing on the ground and then closing the distance with Quick Attack! Never had he felt so incensed, so pissed off, at the little Fire-types that were trying to grind him into the ground! The Torchic tried to retaliate with another Slash, but the Quick Attack was faster—and the Eevee slammed into the Torchic once again, driving it down and away from the clearing!

After finally managing to drive away the Torchic from the clearing, the Gardevoir then approached the battered and bruised Eevee, before giving her mistress a sidelong glance. “Please, go ahead and heal Yuki,” she said with a nod of her head; and the Gardevoir then gently touched the Eevee’s forehead once more with her limbs and sent the Heal Pulse through them; healing up and rejuvenating the little brown fox’s tired feeling and closing all of the scrapes and wounds he’d received from the Torchic tussle. It didn’t take too long before the little session was rudely interrupted by something that she’d already come across (and had a full-grown version of); a Larvitar was looking rather peeved at her.
“Oh. Oh, crap. Do we still really have time to fight this guy?” she began, a rather ironic look on her face as the Gardevoir then pulled away from the Eevee, before giving the young brown fox-like creature a gentle pat on its head. “Not today, though…” she said with this look on her face as she then scooped up the Eevee, who unresistingly hopped into her hands—before the Gardevoir looped a limb around her other free arm. “Take us somewhere. Anywhere on this mountain. As long as it gets us away from here,” she ended, gesturing at the Larvitar, who was now glowering at them rather warily, debating on whether or not to send a mountain of rocks down on their heads.
A few moments later, a soft popping noise was heard through the space, as human and Pokémon vanished.

There was a slight problem with the little request she’d asked her Gardevoir to fulfill—it had been a while since their last visit to this particular Area of the Safari Zone, so who knew where they were going to turn up. It was going to be as good as anyone’s guess where they’d land; and a few moments later, a rippling energy that emanated through the air announced the arrival of Izumi (who was still holding the Eevee) as well as her Gardevoir. Once they’d landed back on solid ground, she then looked around, while the Gardevoir remained close to her side. It didn’t take too long for them to discover… a purple, weird-looking creature that was playing amongst the rocks not too far away from where they’d landed. Seeing as the weird little purple thing was alone, Izumi then decided to approach it—but not before she felt a shiver run up her spine.
Wondering if it was just her, she then looked over to her Gardevoir—who could apparently see something she couldn’t and already had her limbs up to her mouth in order to prevent herself from screaming out of surprise—when the two heard a rampaging roar coming from not too far away. “Oh, shit, what’s that?!” she muttered to herself as she then quickly scooped up the Eevee—who was just about to make contact with the weird purple thing—and then made a break for it! “I am NOT sticking around to find out what that is!” she shouted, and the Gardevoir was hurrying alongside her; before she realized that there was still a viable way out of this sticky situation. She then grabbed the lone can of Repel she had on her (as she’d left all the others in cold storage) and quickly engaged it, watching as the mist burst forth.
“Alright, Momiji, let’s try that random Teleportation again!” she said, and the Gardevoir joined her, looped a limb around her arm, and the two vanished under the cover of the smoke that the can of Repel had released.

Wondering if the target of the ages would appear after the mist cleared out, Izumi (along with her companions) then appeared in another spot—but sadly, the target that they were searching for was not meant to be found today. “Oh, you have got to be—“ she began; before backtracking and blinking her eyes. She was hoping that she was just seeing things; because this was definitely something that she didn’t have yet (and was resting on her wish list) but at the same time, she knew that there was someone who wanted this as much as she did.
She then proceeded to fish out her mobile phone and punched in a message, reading it twice before sending it on its way to the person who was looking for one of these strange Fossil ‘mons. “Well, can’t hurt to ask the ash-colored bird to breed this first before I give this away, can it…” she muttered, as the Gardevoir then looked at her before tugging at her sleeves again.
“Yes, yes, Momiji… I know… well then, let’s go,” she began, before crouching down and letting the Eevee hop down from her hands, trotting forward before standing in front of the weird bird that was apparently eating something. The Gardevoir then stood beside Izumi, watching and waiting before all hell broke loose. The Archen then gave out a caw as it saw the Eevee wander into range—before quickly lashing out with Dragon Claw!“Oh you did not just…!” she began, clenching her fists as she then whistled loudly before starting off, “Yuki! Incoming! Get out of the way!” and looking towards Yukime as the Archen cobbled across the ground, raising its winged claws and hitting…nothing but air. The Eevee had skidded out of the damage radius barely, and was huffing, trying to catch his breath for that last-minute dodge.
“Let’s try that Swift, pepper it and drive ‘im back!” she continued in an encouraging tone, watching as the Eevee then stood his ground, before inhaling—and sending out a peppering spray of star-shaped projectiles; and she knew that they would chase the bird around, even if it would try to dodge. The Archen had other ideas though—as it weathered the shower of attacks, it then veered in close for a U-Turn, rushing forward and smacking its body soundly across the Eevee’s, sending it backwards before it cried out of pain. “Yuki! Hang tight!” she continued, clenching her other fist this time; because she knew that a Ground-type move like Dig would stand no chance in hell against something that had wings. She knew that her Eevee had to fight this thing as much as possible; but the way that the Typing had been set-up, she realized that her soon-to-be-Glaceon was having one hell of a time.
She then looked sideways to her Gardevoir, before muttering from the corner of her mouth, “Can you hit it with Thunderbolt so that it doesn’t stop hopping around, help Yuki out a bit?” she whispered as much as she could, before giving the ‘go signal’ to the Gardevoir to do so. While the Archen was still trying to recover from slamming its body into the Eevee, the heavens right above it suddenly turned black—before a single peal of lightning rained down and struck the Archen, sending it shrieking as it was hit head-first. The Eevee could only stare on in shock as he saw the Thunderbolt strike the Archen; before it flopped over—and then looked over to where Izumi was; who then shrugged. “Hey, don’t look at me, that was not my fault,” she said while squaring her shoulders, before pointing ahead, “Alright, keep peppering it with Swift!”
“Vee!” she heard the cry, before the little brown fox charged forward and began to spray continuous rays that were made up of star-shaped projectiles, which began to swirl around and circle the Archen. It then let out another derisive caw; and attempted to take off and launch another U-Turn attack—but the Thunderbolt attack that had smacked it, somehow, had done a number on its stats. The Archen’s ability kicked in; and as the Archen came rushing forward, but instead of brutally smacking himself into the Eevee, met the brown fox halfway and feebly flapped his wings.
Seeing that he now had a chance, Izumi then continued to shout rather encouragingly, “Go on, Yuki! Swift it until it tips over!” while pumping her fist into the air. Bolstered on by his Trainer’s encouraging words, the Eevee continued to dash around, hailing out more rays that consisted of star-shaped projectiles, and after several more minutes of dancing and dodging the flailing Archen, it had finally tipped over.
“Guess this trip wasn’t too much of a waste…” she muttered as she then took out the Safari Ball and chucked it at the Archen, striking its head before getting sucked up into the containment unit in a flash of red light…

The Safari Ball began to twitch and shake; and there were three pairs of eyes (one human, two Pokemon) that were staring rather intently at it as it continued to shake while it was on the ground. once it had finally settled down, and had gone off with a loud ‘ding’ noise, Izumi then sighed in relief—because the trip was finally over! “Great… we didn’t get what we came for, but I know someone who can most definitely make use of this, to say the least… well…” she trailed off, before quickly whipping out her phone and scrolling through the messages that were contained in her Inbox.
After finding the one that contained the wanted ad for the Archen, she then keyed in a reply back; before sending the message on its way and watching the containment unit disappear off; presumably to the Ranch proper that the ash-haired little bird tended. “Well, them’s the kicks. At least we can make someone else happy,” she muttered, and the Eevee crooned in her arms; before she caught sight of the Gardevoir. Nodding, she then approached Izumi and looped an arm around her Trainer; before she said, “Take us out of the Zone, back to the Wilds,” and the odd band of travelers disappeared with a soft popping noise.
