After that successful run in the Safari Zone, Izumi had decided to return—but only because her previous search had ended when she’d caught the weird thing she’d finally found out was a Rotom. Now that she was back on a more “personal” reason, she then knew where to go—as she was already headed there, but then she’d gotten cut off by two Axews and another one she’d forgotten—but at least she knew that the weird Electric/Ghost type would be in good hands. After going over to the counter and turning the tag over, the guard then grinned at her before giving her a thumbs-up, and then just basically letting her through this time. It turned out that the guard on duty was the same friend who’d greeted her the last time, and since he already knew her, all he needed to know was the fact that she’d given him her tag—and now she was back again in the vast region.
“Alright… eyes on the prize. Eyes on the prize now!” she said with a grin, looking down at the weird assortment of ‘mons she had with her; asides from Croco and Hayato, she’d decided to switch out half of her team—hell Gabriel needed to rest for a bit; and Momo was definitely overextending her current “stay” as well as Ishi—so she was now going back into the wilderness without any aerial back-up; but at least she had another batch of unusual ‘mons to train and get stronger. I know I’m rushing it, but I really have to start evolving everyone quickly. Now that I’m about to acquire another batch of Eevees… it’s time to get the show on the road, as they say! Time to definitely get the show on the freakin’ road… she thought with some excitement as she then quickly retraced the steps she’d already taken and veered off into the direction of the abandoned urban area—because the last time, she’d gone towards the “cave systems” and had ended up getting tangled with a lot of Dragon-types.

It didn’t take too long before Izumi had stumbled upon something—and unfortunately, that “something” was one of those that she already had—and was proud of owning. She then blinked as the Drilbur then wandered into range, before quickly scoping her out and then raising its spinning appendages as if in challenge. “Hoo boy… looks like this is going to get really ugly…” she said with a smirk on her face as she then quickly scooped up a Net Ball; before quickly sending out her still-unnamed Seel and watching as she landed from the flash of red light. Now that the Drilbur had seen a rather…interesting target, it didn’t hesitate to take the initiative to attack! She then blinked and then watched as the Drilbur quickly tunneled into the ground—a sure sign of trouble. Now that her Seel was out on the field… a name suddenly came to mind; it seemed so ridiculous… it was perfect for the rather playful soul in front of her!
“Flipper! Go surround yourself with water! That thing’s out to hurt you! Be careful out there!” she blurted out, before the Seel looked up and then clapped her fins—finally pleased at having a name of her own! All too soon though, the Drilbur re-emerged from the ground—and had sent the poor white thing high into the air courtesy of Dig! The Seel was now engulfed in a ring of water; at least she knew that the aquatic creature could heal herself until then. Aha. I think I know what to do! She thought; watching as the Seel quickly landed back on the rocky terrain, letting out a yelp of surprise as it did so. Why didn’t I think of it before?! It’s perfect! She continued as the Drilbur then took a few paces back…before suddenly attacking her head on in a Rapid Spin attack! “Alright, Flip! Think of this as practice! You see that thing headed your way? Aim an Ice Beam attack right at it!” she continued, pointing forward and watching the blur rocket towards the practically defenseless little Water-type.
Right before the Drilbur could slam its entire body at the Seel, the thing had gotten caught in the sudden outburst of arctic energy that the Water-type had conjured up; quickly batting it and tossing it aside as it had gotten caught in the frozen beam. Hearing a yowl of displeasure coming from the Drilbur, she then waited… and then smirked as it then proceeded to tunnel underground once more. “Perfect. Flip, wait for that thing to come topside… and then use your Disable on it once the attack hits, okay? I know it’s a bit on the risky side, but that’s the best we can do for now… bear with me for now!” she continued, watching as the Seel then began looking around, trying to guess where the Drilbur would be coming from—and a few moments later, she was suddenly sent skywards again because of the Dig attack! Right at the same time it had used Dig, the Seel then wagged its tail fin at the Drilbur, and then watched as it landed right-side up (and the Seel landed upside-down) before the weird mole-like thing tried to tunnel underground again… but realized that he couldn’t. What had happened?!
Izumi was grinning at this point, because her next words were, “Flip! Ice Beam it now! While the Drilbur’s preoccupied!” and she heard the cry of reply, before watching another burst of arctic energy erupt from the Seel’s mouth; catching the mole off-guard and causing it to yelp out of shock as the cold energy coated it! “Follow it up! Brine, now!” she called out, and watched as this time, a torrent of water poured from the Seel’s mouth—the quirk about Brine here was that the lower the health of the target, the stronger it would be… and the Drilbur was then bathed in water, which then caused it to yelp out loud and stagger away from them! “Heh, good job out there Flip,” she began, crouching down and hugging the white sea lion. Now, what would be next…?

As Izumi and the merry little thing called “Flip” continued onward into the deeper regions of the Safari Zone—who knew that the exact same thing that had happened to her the last time would occur again; albeit with a different ‘mon—being the one that she’d encountered earlier? She then blinked and then watched as flipper tried to catch her attention by “barking” (if a Seel could ever do that) and then wiggling her tail in order to be able to point straight ahead. As she looked up, she then resisted the urge to smack a palm against her forehead—because was it real, was there an awful sense of déjà vu striking her—because there was another Drilbur right there, slightly ahead of their path! She could only sigh, before looking down at flip, and then saying, “What, you want to practice again?” and was met with the clapping of its fins—a sign that it was game for anything. Grinning, she then pointed forward, before starting off, “Flip! Surround yourself with water again!”
The Seel then barked and concentrated; before a thin stream; which eventually became a comprehensible ring of water appeared around it—and at this gesture, this Drilbur then charged forward, swinging its appendages in the form of a Scratch attack! She was unable to issue the next command because the attack had come so suddenly—and the Seel let out a cry of surprise; before she then regained her composure and continued, “Alright, Ice Beam it and try to knock it into the sky!” and watched as the Seel concentrated—before watching a burst of arctic energy form from within its maw. In a few seconds, the Seel then opened fire—just as the Drilbur was coming in for a Mud Slap attack—and the balls of incoming mud were suddenly frozen and whooshed by harmlessly, dropping to the ground as the remainder of the Ice Beam then knocked the Drilbur off to one side. The little mole then let out a cry of shock; before suddenly throwing its entire body weight into a spinning motion—it was now using Rapid Spin, and coming in fast!
“Alright, Flip, use Brine, now! Then follow up with another Ice Beam! Just knock that thing out of the way!” she shouted, pointing forward as she then watched the Seel suddenly blast a torrent of water, trying to knock the Drilbur off-balance at least, it still kept on coming, though; and with another deep breath, the sea lion then released a burst of arctic energy right at the Drilbur, who met the attack full in the face and was sent off to one side! “Stay down, I’m not interested in your kind… just get out of the way…” she muttered as the Seel then approached her, and they left the clearing; intent on looking for that one elusive creature… well, technically Izumi was still looking for two of the fifth Zone’s inhabitants; and knew that getting her hands on at least one of them would shorten her wish list somewhat. I just hope it’s the blue mechanical one… come on… this is like déjà vu all over again. I swear… she thought as she scoured the location, trying to pick out any possible places where the darned thing could be hiding.

It was like the heavens were conspiring against Izumi at that very moment—and that someone, somewhere, had just successfully tossed a monkey wrench into her plans of searching for a Beldum. As she and Flip continued to move along, going through the ruins of the “abandoned city”, there was another black shadow that was chasing them—before suddenly darting forward and then making its presence known. Once she had realized just exactly what it was, she had to try her best not to slap both of her palms to her face—because right in front of them, there was yet another Axew! “Don’t tell me these guys are triplets or something…” she groaned to herself; before plucking out another containment unit and sending out the occupant; and watched as the flash of red light transformed into something that resembled a fluffy cloud…that was sentient and had life, of course.
“Well, guess it’s time to pick out your name, little one,” she began as the Swablu then began drifting on the air currents, before actually trying to land atop her head and rest there just like a hat. “I think I know what to call you…but before that… Flip! Aqua Ring! I know it may feel repetitive, but it’s one way we can keep you on the battlefield for much longer!” she began, pointing forward—and watching as the Seel began to wrap itself in the veil of water; while the Axew had gone on the offensive, having used Leer in order to lower her team’s Defense! The Seel was taken aback by the sudden “vulgar” gesture and was now pretty much agitated, waiting for her mistress to call out orders. “I know… I saw what it did… Sazanami, get off my head,” she said without thinking, reaching atop in order to shoo the Swablu off and away from its current position. Without realizing it, she’d given her Swablu a name; and it then hit her a few seconds later.
Ohhh, shit. Well, what’s done is done… she thought, before suddenly realizing that Nami here (the Swablu) had a mostly-defensive oriented move set; and that she could use it to great advantage. “Nami! This is your first battle. I know that you’re all nervous, but work with Flip here, okay? I know you two will do great things,” she began, watching as the Swablu then assumed its rearguard position, while the Seel remained at point. The Axew had charged forward and its claws were now glowing this weird shade of violet—and she had a suspicion that this Axew was related to the other two she’d stomped flat on the last time. “Nami! Cotton Guard, then chain into Agility, then wait for my signal to get moving. Flip, wait for that thing to get close enough, and wag your tail!” she continued, pointing forward as the Axew then came in up close and personal for a Dragon Claw attack; striking the Seel upside and sending it into the air, yelping out of surprise! At the same time, though, the Seel had already activated Disable—by that simple tail-wagging gesture it did before landing on the ground.
Once the Swablu had boosted its own stats up, she then began hovering behind the Seel, and it was now time to switch from defense, to offense! As the Axew rounded about in order to catch the two off their guard with Dragon Claw again, it realized something—why wasn’t its attack working! At this, Izumi then shouted, “Nami! Unload your Moonblast on that thing! Flip, do the same thing with Ice Beam, and aim well! Go!” and watched as the two sprang into action—the Swablu suddenly flying off to one side while charging up some kind of bedazzling energy; before suddenly letting loose with a blast of what appeared to be lunar energy; all shimmering and sparkling! On the other hand, the Seel waited for its companion to move, before gathering the burst of arctic energy from its maw—and then letting it loose as well! The Axew then looked surprised to see two attacks headed its way; but which one was it going to avoid?! It then got an idea—by taking the Moonblast full in the face; while rolling off to one side—and catching the Swablu in one corner.
As the Ice Beam sailed harmlessly over the Axew’s head, Izumi was heard to hiss; before getting another idea. “Distract it with Brine, it’s going in for the—“ she said in Flip’s direction; but the Axew had chosen to unleash Assurance—on the Swablu! Even if the little flying cloud’s defense was raised thanks to Cotton Guard, the little green dragon’s attack was meant to hurt all the more if it had already sustained the damage—and she then realized that this Axew wasn’t as dumb as the other two were. Oh boy. Turning the tides against him into an advantage, huh… she thought with this look on her face as she heard the Swablu cry out loud in pain as the attack connected. Noticing that its partner was now in dire straits, the Seel quickly took aim—before releasing torrent after torrent of water; it was now unloading as many instances of Brine as it could in order to get the Axew away from the defensively-oriented Swablu! “Nami! You can take it! Get out of the way with Agility; then unload another Moonblast!” she called out as the Axew had connected with its Dual Chop attack; sending the little flying-type reeling and almost crashing to the ground—it was clearly outclassed at this point.
“SEEEEEEEEEEL!” the cry of outrage echoed through the clearing, and even Izumi stopped to blink, and stare, as the little white sea lion was now outraged—why was its companion being beaten down without rest?! After unloading the last of the Brine attacks—not that it did any good—it then quickly changed tactics; shifting to gathering a burst of arctic energy and then unloading an Ice Beam without letting her mistress steer in the right direction! As the Axew continued to chase down the Swablu—who had managed to get away thanks to Agility—it then blinked, a few seconds before the Ice Beam had collided with it, shoving it far off to one side, reeling from the cold. Now that the Swablu was free of “the problem”, it then fluttered before landing on the Seel’s head—why was she getting the feeling that these two were going to be partners—as without warning, the Seel gathered another burst of arctic energy before firing it; while the Swablu had concentrated and then fired off another bedazzling, shimmering, beam of lunar energy. The two attacks then swirled together and crackled with some kind of power; growing in size—and there was nothing the Axew could do but blink as it took the full force of the combined Ice Beam / Moonblast, knocking it off its feet and sending it far away from the two!
Izumi could only blink, and stare—before giving the two a thumbs-up gesture, to which the Seel clapped her fins; while the Swablu fluttered around before eventually deciding to ride astride the sea lion—and the unusual partners then continued, their mistress on their heels.

Izumi continued through the area, trying her best to keep up with the Seel and the Swablu—when the two had caught sight of a shadow; before proceeding to speed up and chase it down! She then saw that they had sped up and were about to leave her behind—she then let them go ahead, because she’d be able to catch up with them eventually! I know they can handle themselves. It’s just that I hope they know what they’re up against… she thought to herself as she increased her pace, trying to keep the body of the white sea lion in sight. As she came to a clearing, it was like her very first trip to the Safari Zone all over again—there was a Deino right there, leering at the two! It definitely did not look friendly—and as the two were staring down the little Dragon-type, she then blinked—and saw that they had sprung into action! Wondering if she could leave them alone to do their own thing, she then decided to watch the two ‘mons quickly split up, in order to avoid being targeted at the same time.
Over at where the Deino was, it was irritated that these two interlopers had stumbled upon its territory, before quickly tensing its muscles, breathing in and out—it had used Focus Energy; before releasing what appeared to be a burst of energy that surrounded its body! She then blinked, wondering just what the hell this move was—it had done the same thing three more times—before quickly charging forward, exhibiting a menacing presence! What she didn’t know was that the Deino had used Work Up several times in order to be able to boost both its Attack and Special attack stats, before chaining into a Dragon Rush—and was headed right for the Seel! She blinked; before realizing what the two were up to… over at where the battlefield was, the Seel had shrouded itself in a veil of water; already knowing what a beneficial move Aqua Ring was. She was just waiting for the thing to approach—and once it had slammed right into her, she let out a cry of shock—to which the Swablu quickly veered off to another side; and then suddenly boosting its own stats by way of Cotton Guard. As the sheer down enveloped the Swablu several times, it then released a screen that appeared before itself and the Seel—it had gone ahead and used Safeguard—before quickly boosting its own movement speed with Agility!
The Deino had managed to ram its entire body weight into the Seel, causing it to cry out in pain; but the Seel had weathered the hit—even if she was looking pretty beat up, the Aqua Ring helped cushion away some of the impact—before it gathered a burst of arctic energy; and fired off an Ice Beam in order to push it back! Since the Deino hadn’t backed away yet, it took the Ice-type attack full in the face; not realizing that the Swablu was now behind it, and charging up a beam of dazzling, lunar energy. As it spun around in order to be able to retaliate—it then walked right into a trap, as the Swablu had released a Moonblast attack that was now screaming right at the Deino! The Swablu then moved off to one side; before rejoining where the Seel was; and had perched herself atop its head. Izumi could only watch and smirk with glee as the two were now back together, and the Deino was pushed back further, almost skidding out of range! The Deino then let out another roar, before quickly using Work Up several more times; in order to maximize its Attack and Special Attack stats, before changing tactics and going on the defensive—as the Swablu was now soaring through the air, offering itself as a distraction!
The Dragon Breath then exploded form the Deino’s mouth in a burst of draconic energy—and even if the Swablu had cried out in pain as the attack had connected, she knew she had to endure it—before gathering her own burst of draconic energy and retaliating with her own Dragon Pulse! As the Swablu’s own attack cut through the draconic energy of the Deino’s same attack, the Swablu then boosted herself with Agility—before quickly unloading the bulk of the attack on the surprised Dragon-type; it was relying on the sounds they were making; and over at where Izumi was, she suddenly remembered that the Deino line was blind! She then decided to take her chance, before cupping her hands and shouting, “Flip! Nami! Just keep attacking! Wear it down! If you get hit, bear the pain! It’s blind! It relies on sound to navigate around the area!” and then watching from the sidelines as the Swablu quickly changed tactics and used Aerial Ace; catching the Deino by surprise once more! The Seel had decided to veer off to one side before gathering another burst of arctic energy; stopping the Deino in its tracks before it could retaliate on the little cloud ‘mon. The Swablu then flew skywards; before releasing an aerial version of Moonblast, raining down on the Deino; while the Seel had taken to supporting fire via Ice Beam, shifting directions and spreading out the coverage of the Ice attack by moving from side to side; and eventually catching the Deino frozen solid. Who knew that the Dragon-type would finally be trapped in a block of ice after all this time?
“Well, I hope it holds…” she said, stepping forward from where she stood and chucking the Safari Ball at the frozen block of ice that contained the Deino, its pose mid-flight, as if trying to charge forward and ram its body into the (literally unseen) enemy.

Three pairs of eyes were nervously watching the quivering Safari Ball; hoping that the Deino within wouldn’t burst free and cause more of a ruckus. She then tensed up and watched the containment unit twitch once; twice… as it went off with a loud “ding”, she didn’t realize that she’d raised her hands up in victory, before quickly hugging the Seel and the Swablu! They had done it! They had managed to catch the Deino! Even if that Beldum eludes me… I’m sure someone would want this in exchange. I just got to find who has one that can be bred—I don’t want to get on the “hot seat” of the Golden Egg-what’s it called because Kouji’s breeding too many so-called Rares… she thought as she then bent down to scoop up the containment unit—when she saw that there was a faint light surrounding the Seel. “Wh—what?” she began, blinking and watching the sea lion; attention completely drawn to it—the Safari Ball lay forgotten in her hands.
The bright flash of light suddenly engulfed the Seel; and she heard Flipper let out a cry of shock; because even she didn’t know what was going on! As she shielded herself from the sudden glare—which lasted only a few seconds before vanishing—she then blinked and looked up again; but Flipper was a Seel no longer. She’d definitely gotten bigger; that was the most obvious—but she was no longer the cute, bumbling, tumbling little sloppy kisser that she knew! She then let out a squeal, realizing that Flipper had evolved into a Dewgong! “Ah—ah my goodness! Flip! Look at you!” she began, squealing as the Swablu let out a chirp of joy before hovering over the Dewgong as she rushed over and hugged the much bigger, much more graceful sea lion. The form was all too fitting—she was still white as snow, but there was a certain dignity and grace in her current position; unlike her earlier form. “Ahh, crud. Nami… don’t worry. Hey, at least you have a big sister to protect you,” she added with a chuckle, petting the Swablu that had decided to roost atop her head again like a hat.
“Come on guys, let’s get out of here. I hope someone gets the Deino, because I already have Riku and he’s not going to like it if he sees another of his kind—he’s just that possessive,” she added with a sheepish chuckle as she recalled the two ‘mons and exited the area. I’ll be back next month. I’m still short a few more so-called starters. But yes, I will return… coursed through the back of her mind, realizing that she had to break her savings account open again and stock up!
