It was time for the November digging season; and this time around, the wind was definitely getting colder—which meant that late afternoon expeditions weren’t going to be so… hot, nor as hellish, as they were in the summer months. Izumi decided that it would be best to get started now; rather than rushing it again—and ending up regretting it much later. She’d packed light (as was her norm) and then picked up the shovel, before exiting the little apartment she was renting in Lumiose in order to get to the Badlands as quickly as possible. She’d heard rumors through the Trainer grapevine that there were new “marbles” to be found in the area; but they were just that: rumors… unverified rumors with no touch of truth, to be exact. Well, better get searching and hope I find something of interest all the same… she thought as she walked through the city, only stopping to buy a cup of hot chocolate from one of her favorite cafes and then went on her way.
After falling in line and eventually finishing off the chocolate as she arrived at the inspection table, she thought she’d seen someone familiar in the site—but shook it off; how was it possible for her to even run into her sponsored Breeder at this point—because she knew he was also digging, but for what purpose? Unlike him, she knew what the marbles were called; but still had no clue just how to be able to utilize them effectively. Another sign that means I have to keep improving… like seriously… she thought with a bitter glare at the dirt once she’d gone out of the guard tent and into the wild Badlands. She began looking around; but as always, since the area looked the same to her no matter where she looked, there was no way of telling if she’d already been at that spot previously. After a few moments of thinking, she then marched out—and then sent out Vincent, her Lucario, to accompany her. “Hello, Vince,” she began as the bipedal jackal materialized from the red beam. “Shall we get going?” she asked quietly, to which he gave a nod. Wondering if it would be a good idea to send out another member as well, she then came to a stop that looked nice and deserted…
…before sending out Hayato, now a Grotle. As the Grove ‘mon appeared from the Quick Ball in a flash of red light, she then grinned and chuckled as she shook the boughs growing on her back before attempting to ram her down in a friendly greeting! “Whoa! Haya!” she shrieked before chuckling and petting the Grove ‘mon on her head. “Alright… you see all that land in front of you? Can you try to use Earth Power on the patches where you think you might find something…interesting. Vincent will be joining you today,” she continued, and she then made the introduction between the two. After they’d decided to check out an area not too far away, she then took the shovel and began digging…

Now that the two ‘mons had gone off into the distance in order to be able to start searching, leaving Izumi alone to dig over where she was, she then begun digging in silence, notwithstanding the heat that was starting to build up around them. Granted, the months were now headed towards colder climate so it wasn’t that hot or sticky as it would originally be; but at the rate things were going, she’d end up spending the whole day here searching for marbles; or whatever she’d find! She then sighed, before leaning over and taking a break—because even if it wasn’t that hot yet, sudden strenuous activity made her just want to take a break and catch her breath! Over at where the Lucario and the Grotle were digging, the two were currently in the middle of excavating a shallow trench; the Lucario by using his paws to dig through the ground (and strengthen them up) and the Grotle was just stamping down hard on the ground, making it erupt with Earth Power before mowing whatever she’d forced up out of the way.
It was the Lucario who had caught sight of something glittering in the dirt he was pawing through—and after finally unearthing it, realized that it wasn’t the same like the grayish marble he’d found the last time—this one looked more like a sparkling stone; but at least it wasn’t one of the weird “Relic” items that he’d found the first time he’d gone on one of these “digging expeditions” with his mistress. Sighing, he then left the Shiny Stone not too far away from where he’d found it, and continued to paw through the ground, hoping to stumble across one of the nicer things in life. The Grotle was apparently having too much fun—now that she was free to practice her Earth Power in the vicinity without any repercussions, she was doing just that—but sadly, she hadn’t found anything that was noteworthy yet (apparently, Vincent had filled her in about the marbles while they were headed to their current location, so at least she had some idea of what Izumi was looking for).
Dig Dig Dig . . . What's this?! Congratulations, You've found a DUSK STONE ! Evolves: Murkrow – Misdreavus – Lampent -- Doublade Your island of chickens may be taking time to process.

This time, it was Izumi who had managed to find something—but unfortunately, the “something” that she’d found was one she had… three copies of! As she then exposed the Dusk Stone that she’d unearthed in the area, she could only purse her lips together and sigh; she knew that she had three more ‘mons to take care of that evolved using this particular stone, but still couldn’t figure out just how to fit them into her “evolution” plans. She then sighed; before leaving the area and then proceeding to another space not too far away from where she could still make out the Grotle that was now slamming its feet surreptitiously into the ground in order to “dig” as well as the Lucario that was now using most of its paws to shovel its way through the ground.
If they’d find anything; Vince would know to bring it over to where I am… she thought with a furrowed brow as she scouted out the new area where she was now at. After deciding that it was a good place as any to continue the search, she then stuck the shovel into the ground; and continued to dig. Over at where the two aforementioned ‘mons were digging (or trying some semblance of the activity) they hadn’t found anything of significance, so they decided to continue searching—all searching parties involved were hoping for their unbelievable luck to have a turn-around for the better; and that was saying something at most! The Lucario sighed; before returning his attention to the mound that was now starting to build up right in front of him—he could only cross his paws and hope for a good find to wink up at him from the dirt…

It had been a very long while—but eventually, a ray of good luck had finally decided to shine down on Izumi. As she was digging through the new spot with much fervor, she thought she’d heard a very distinct “clink” sound. As the “clink” sound became louder, she completely abandoned the shovel and then continued to dig with her bare hands; completely and totally forgetting to wear her work gloves. As the marble finally was exposed to the light—she didn’t care if this was the fourth copy of the very first actual “marble” she’d found ever since she’d started searching in the Badlands, she was just ecstatic on finding even one! I don’t even care if it’s a quadruple copy, as long as I got one, I’m totally claiming it! Oh wait, I think I know who’d appreciate this nice little shining thing… she thought as she gently brushed off the dirt from the Garchompite and then examined it in the light of the early-morning sun.
“Well, I’m not going to be choosy; I just want to give this to Josh right away. Maybe it’ll cheer him up, or something…” she muttered as she continued to polish off the grit that had stuck to the marble, before it finally sparkled and shined in the palm of her hand. “Well… I guess it’s time to suggest another joint effort… maybe it does work after all…” she muttered once more as she reached for her phone with her other hand, and quickly punched in one of the few numbers that had been registered to her speed dial—and then finally reaching a certain individual’s voice mail. Choosing to leave a message, she began, “Well, you’ll never believe what I got for you… also, what do you say, we come out here again and join our forces in searching? It worked the last time. It might work again this time around…”
