elcome Adventurer to EPOCH! A Pokemon Sandbox Rp set in the original region of Nue. Everything you need to know will be in the Guidebook and PokeDex 101!
EPOCH uses the Manga and is built on the Original ideas suggested by our members.
We are more than just a Pokemon RP, we're a friendly community with a goal on being a memorable experience for those that look in.
Golden Rule: Treat others as you wish to be treated. If you find yourself content with being an asshole EPOCH and its members will not tolerate you.

Understand We're All Human. Respect the staffers as well as your fellow members and guests. We all have flaws, tempers and quirks. Be patient with one another, but if issues involving other members come up please don’t just grin and bear it. Contact a staff member, informing them of what's going on so they can address and resolve the situation. The staff won't know what's bothering you unless you tell them.

The next day in the bustling city of Viridian, Kouki entered the city as he saw the crowd of people walked to work or school while some are in a conversation. "Phew... Finally made it out of Viridian Forest. But I still need to train my Pokemon for a gym battle or something. Despite I'm already here, it felt like I need to go to another city or something..." He said as he sat in a nearby bench to rest on and wondered about this city's gym. He did heard some rumors about them, such as a leader of Team Rocket being the gym leader or something. Or some kid now running the gym. But since that news belonged 2 years ago, he was relieved on now challenging the gym leader without those rumors running around in his head. Yet, when he looked at his Poke Balls containing his Pokemon, he became conflicted on what to do next.
And with many thoughts about how strong the gym leader's Pokemon are, Kouki decided on one thing and thought, "Hmm... Maybe I should try a Pokemon battle with another trainer, first. Then I'll decide if I'm ready to see inside the Viridian City Gym." With that in mind, Kouki stood up from the bench and started to wander around the city for trainers who wanted to find someone to battle.

"Excal! Ibur! Lets try the sacred sword manuver one more time!"
In one of the open spaces of viridian city, typically used by trainers looking for room to make a safe battle, Yumi was practically hogging it all to herself, the fiery red head had two sword like pokemon, known as honedge to those in the know, and was staring down a third pokemon of her own, a Chesnaught by name of Oscar who had buffed itself to take quite the beating. At the command of their trainer, the two blade pokemon flew quite quickly towards the Chesnaught, slashing it one after the other in an X formation, actually seeming to push the grass type back a little.
"Heh, that's great, you guys are getting a better hang on working together..." Yumi rubbed her chin softly, wondering if this would be as effective in a real battle. Then again not many trainers around here seemed to be looking to her for a challenge since she brought her chesnaught out...

As he wandered around the city, Kouki felt he was in a new world. Yet, it didn't made his thoughts disappeared as he continued on wondering about how strong the Viridian gym leader's Pokemon are gonna be. That is until he heard some noise not far away from where he was now. "What was that?"
Curious, he followed the noise to find the source until he came across an open space of the city where a red-haired girl was somehow trained a green and white Pokemon which resembled like a bare-fist warrior and a Pokemon that looked like a sword with it's pommel had a long leather band which served as a hand as it used it to hold it's sheath, which Kouki recognized the latter in shock. "T-That's... A Honedge! There's no mistake, it definitely looked like the Honedge I saw in my Dad's letters and books. Is she a Pokemon trainer from Kalos? And are they training for a gym battle?" He thought as his curiosity started to stirred inside of him due to wanted to see the Honedge in the flesh. "I really need to take a closer look at this."
He then slowly tip-toed closer to the open space slowly and quietly so he won't disturb the girl's training, only it did as he was so distracted at being curious at the Sword Pokemon, he didn't see the rock on the ground and quickly tripped on it, which made him shouted as he fell on the ground in pain.

Just as she was contemplating finding another trainer to go battle, Yumi's attention was caught by a sudden thud nearby. Excal, Ibur, and Oscar, quickly turned their heads towards the souce of the noise, not spotting anything at first, but as the two swords flew over to investigate, they began spinning rapidly, their blades pointed down at the blue haired boy to signal the source of the sound for the red head, who quickly came rushing over.
"Oof, bad trip there kid?" Yumi chuckled softly as her chesnaught caught up. Quickly hopping to the aid of the boy they found, the two honedge hild out their ribbons, the cut up end seeming to curl like fingers. each sword seeming to hold out a hand for the kid to grab, only bringing another chuckle to Yumi's lips. The last time she'd grabbed their "hands", she had been bed ridden for the rest of the day thanks to their side effects. Swiftly, Yumi offered her own hand. "Here, take mine, or you'll get more than a scraped knee, trust me on that one bud."

Kouki groaned in pain as he rubbed his backside, thought that he should watch his surroundings the next time he tried to spy on them. Just then, the girl he saw seconds ago along with her Chesnaught approached him to see if he was okay until her two Honedge joined her and tried to help him up by offered their "hands" to him. Although he was relieved that they wanted to help, he was no fool to Honedge's ability to drain the life forces to their victims due to their ribbons, or that's what the book on Pokemon myths said. Luckily, the girl offered him to get back up instead, which Kouki did as he grabbed her hand as leverage when he stood up from the ground.
After he did, he decided to talk to her after what just happened. "Oh, sorry about interrupting your training. It's just that I never seen not one, but two Honedge before! I wish I can have one in my team, though." Capturing a Honedge was his dream after he read some books and pages about them including how their evolved forms choose pure-heart or corrupted kings during the Kalos's past. Not only that, it was also his dream to evolve it, yet since he was from Kanto, he was unable to find one. "By the way, I'm Kouki Nakano and I just started out as a Pokemon trainer a day ago."

Yumi was a little surprised as he helped the kid back to his feet. Less by the fact he fell over in the first place, but moreso the fact that he even knew what a honedge was. It was rare for people from kanto, Johto, Hoenn, heck even Sinnoh and Unova, to even know the name of a single Kalos pokemon, even experienced trainers had a tough time. It became even mor surprising the moment he mentioned he'd only been a trainer for a day!
"Woah, only a day? And you know what a honedge is? You read about them somewhere?" It was unlikely but there was a chance that was the reason, nevertheless, another question did come to mind, what was a day one trainer doing in viridian city. Sure there was a chance that he was just passing through but... "More importantly...are you here to challenge the gym by any chance?"

With the questions the girl just asked, Kouki just smiled and said, "Yeah. My Dad is a traveler who visited from Johto to Kalos after he finished his Pokemon trainer journey in here years before I born. He often brought back some books about Pokemon basics and stuff, including some encyclopedias about Pokemon from Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, and Kalos." He then brought out the said encyclopedia from his backpack, which was about Pokemon from the Kalos region as he flipped a few pages until he reached a page about Honedge. "These books often helped me identify any Pokemon I never encountered before, but the Pokemon I'm more interested in is the Honedge."
As for the girl's question about him challenging the gym, he could. But with the Pokemon the gym leader owned might be strong as they said, he was conflicted on what to answer until he said, "Well, yeah. But I'm worried if I lose since the gym's Pokemon are very strong as those people back in . Most of my Pokemon in my team are recently caught and my first Pokemon just have 2-3 battles back inside Viridian Forest except one of them, which is a Magikarp. To be honest, my hometown is right here, but I returned here to check out the gym just in case."

Yumi was a little amused to see the kid pull out a book that, as she now understood, was full of info on pokemon. Most of her own info on pokemon came from hearing their cries, or experiencing what they did first hand. Heck, she had to learn that holding the handle of a honedge that didn't entirely trust you was essentially a death wish. On the other hand, she also learned that it was more or less safe to hold one when they DID trust you. The book also reminded her of the pokedex she heard so much about while she was with the rockets.
"Well you dad really did give you a good headstart on your adventure here, but do you really think it's your safest bet to go up against the viridian gym first, I mean, heck." Yumi rested a hand behind her head, scratching through her hair and glancing away, feeling bad, as if she was breaking some bad news to the kid. "It's closest to the pokemon league hedquarters for a reason."
Not one to crush someones hopes without, Yumi raised a finger telling the kid to wait, before moving to her side of the field. "In fact, come on. I'll see if you're ready to face this gym yet. I mean who knows? You may just surprise me. Mind helping me help excal?"
The Honedge on her right seemed to blink in response, before moving between Yumi and the blue haired boy. "My name's Yumi by the way. Now, why don't you show me what you've learned since you became a trainer?"

"You're right. That would be a bad idea." He expected that answer, as he was aware on what gym should he really challenged first. He decided to ask his father first since he's back in Viridian and he was still here. But when the girl named Yumi challenged him to a battle, he decided to put that behind him as he said, "Sure, why not?" He then pull out his Poke Balls and threw his backpack aside as he said, "And don't worry, I won't hold back just because you're a girl."
With his pen also in his other hand, he then thought on what kind of Pokemon battle will it be. "Well, why don't we have a single battle? But how many Pokemon do we send out? I suggest two Pokemon if you like." Two is enough for him since he felt that either his Venonat, Aipom, or Magikarp are not ready to face her, but he decided to see how she did.

There was the briefest moment of silence. The Honedge and Chesnaught that now stood behind Yumi had looks of utter terror on their faces. One of them knew full well how Yumi reacted to sexism, while the blade had only heard rumours of utmost terror from those who had experienced her battles with the dark skinned Zeno the red head had a rivalry with. Yumi isntantly went from wanting to help this kid, to wanting to kick his ass all the way back to whatever town he picked his first pokemon up from.
Through gritted teeth, she tried her best to sound civil. "Oh two sounds lovely. My first choice will be honedge, yours?"
Yumi's hand curcled into a fist by her side, trying her best to restrain herself, and trying to tell herself that the kid just made a joke gone wrong. The blade before her seemed unsure how he should play the coming battle, but one thing was for sure, if he didn't follow orders, Yumi might end up blowing a fuse.

Suddenly, silence filled in the air until he saw Yumi somehow became enraged, which Kouki panicked a little as he didn't do anything to anger her. Until he realized that stated he won't hesitate if he was fighting a girl wasn't such a good quote in the first place. But back to the upcoming battle in hand, he learned that she will be using Honedge, which he can't tell which one. "Okay, you picked Honedge, huh? Well, I choose this Pokemon!"
Throwing his Poke Ball in the air, his Shinx was released from it as he cried in determination. "How about you go first? And before we start, I didn't mean to offend you or anything! Honest! I was trying to tell you I won't go easy on you! I'm sorry!" Kouki tried to correct himself to Yumi, not wanted to turn this battle ugly. Yet, he felt it was either too late to apologize or to say anything else as the battle is about to start.

"Oh I getcha." Yumi watched as the Shinx came onto the field, still feeling a little ticked about the minor sexism. The shinx was a somewhat good choice on his part, but if that was one of the pokemon he was gonna use against the gym, then it was rather stupid, after all, the gym was typically known for its ground types, which would have a huge advantage on the shinx. "Its more the fact that you implied people do go easy on girls. I mean, if thats the case, I wont be going easy on you since its your first day."
Yumi lifted her hand up as she spoke, giving some dramatic flare to the order she gave her pokemon, smiling, confident in her own skill. "Excal! Sacred sword!" Not wanting to tick off Yumi anymore, Excal spun in a loop, as if picking up speed before dartiing towards the shnx before him, his blae burning white as it hung up in the air at the apex of a spin, before slamming down in an attempt to strike the shinx hard. Yumi had orders left, but decided not to use them, wanting to see what the kid had before she completely anhialated him.

Sacred Sword. Kouki thought that only a certain legendary Pokemon can use it, but he never thought that Honedge can use it as well. But he was unfazed by this as he simply said, "Dodge." Nodded with determination, his Flash Pokemon jumped out of his opponent's aim, which he managed to avoid his attack in the process. After that, Aven looked at his trainer to see if he's got the next move for a plan until he saw a change of air around him. His curiosity side disappeared as Kouki's default side appeared, now serious and focused to the battle, which Aven realized this and told Excal that he's gonna get it.
"Don't worry, I won't dodge the next turn. That's a way to say I'm not playing around." Despite he felt a little confused earlier about Yumi's pose when she declared an attack, he felt that her words are true. So he might just do the same. "My turn! Aven, now use Crunch!" His Shinx complied as he charged onto his opponent to try to bite his blade with his powerful Dark-type bite.

(OOC Note: Man, I was so hoping I'm not powerplaying. I'm not gonna dodge in every turn like the rules (and Kouki) said. Promise!)

Yumi seemed to clench her fist a little as the shinx dodge her attack. Fair enough, the kid had fast pokemon, but strategically it was still a somewhat silly move. Electric types had no real advantage over steel types or ghost types, and for this town's gym? An even worse choice. Still, the slight sexism induced anger was slowly fading from her system, and as shinx prepared his crunch attack, Yumi was ready to reply with an attack of her own.
"Take the hit! Sacred sword again!"
Excal was quick to obey. His blade rose from the earth where the shinx used to be, and spin quickly into the jaw of the attacking shinx. Imagine that sensation were you shove a fork into your mouth just a little too fast. Now imagine that fork is a sword imbued with the power of terrifying ancients. Sure it was a sacrifice, requiring her own honedge to take the hit from the crunch attack, but it should pay off pretty well.
"Trust me kid, if you wanna make a good team you're gonna wanna have your shinx forget crunch. It may seem great, but trust me, it leaves you wide open."
As promised, he didn't told his Shinx to dodge. Despite this, the powerful slash of Excal's Sacred Sword didn't allow Aven to endure it in time. And upon his opponent gave him a tip to forget Crunch, Kouki became a little conflicted. He liked it because he lacked any Dark or Ghost-type Pokemon in his team. Nevertheless, he can't lose his focus now.
"Thanks for the tip, but I'm just getting started! One more thing, is your Excal a boy perhaps?" Before he let Yumi answer, he saw his Shinx somehow losing his childish self upon he saw her Honedge and became enraged as he growled, "Why you, stupid sword?! I'm gonna kill you!"
Kouki not only groaned at his changed persona since he was aware that this always happened with Reffo everyday, but he was aware that his secret ability was about to activate. "I better explain later. Aven, use Charge, then Thunder Fang!"
Aven wasted no time to agreed with his trainer's orders as he quickly enveloped himself with blue electricity before he charged onto the Honedge and attempt to bite it's blade with his fangs now covered in electricity.

Aven took Sacred Sword's damage! Rivalry activated! Aven used Charge! (x2 Electric damage for this turn, +1 stage Sp. Defense) Aven used Thunder Fang!
