Once it had been announced that her round was over, Izumi now sighed in relief! She had now made it past the next round; but was now afraid of whatever else was waiting up ahead of her—she knew that she had made it so far because of all the luck that had been on her side; but what about now; the field was now being trimmed down to the “toughest of the tough”, the fittest of the pack. She was secretly thankful that her match had ended much earlier than the others’, now she could get at least a clear view of what else was going on with all the other battles that were taking place! She knew that now, there was a chance that she could go up against one of the others that she was now waiting for—but who would it be? After a brief call to her master in order to report the results of her challenge, she now realized that she had a lot of time on her hands—so what better to do than to eat some ice cream in order to beat off the heat that was now becoming absolutely unbearable?
She had noticed that some of the competitors were contestants from the tournament that she was lucky enough to have witnessed—and as such, she had files on some of them. The other contestants were a mystery to her; but in time she would be able to figure out what they were up to—after she finished her ice cream parfait that she’d ordered at the Beach house, the place that Slateport became famous for because of selling so much Soda Pop to the masses. She was also keeping an eye out for the younger girl that she’d defeated—she knew that young ones were quick to throw tantrums, and she… well, Izumi wanted to apologize to her, because of the thrashing her Gyarados had gotten from the hands of her Empoleon, Nixe. Now the problem was… “Where is she…?” she muttered to herself as she then looked through the crowd, before shrugging and returning her attention to the televised battles that were now playing across the screen; apparently word had gotten out and the Slateport media was now covering the entire event, and broadcasting it to all of Hoenn!
Angel Dalton would never have pegged herself as hard to find. Perhaps some of the trouble might be that she had changed out of her swimsuit.. although she had put on a sort of bright colored outfit that still gained attention. The young girl wore lots of weird stuff.. so she was usually pretty easy to pick out of a crowd. Still.. there was a lot of people.
Tantrum mode was still very much activated although it had shifted into more of a general depressed sort of funk state. Although she had some minor battles before, this tournament was her first real test. She.. really had expected to do better. Both battles had finished so fast for her.. and she was nervous about letting either Wonder Bird or B.T. out of their Poke Balls now. Where they disappointed in her as much as she was?
She sighed and looked around. Food was sort of the first thing that came to mind, particuarly ice cream. Although she wished she was buying it with fancy prize money.. uguu. It was just IMPOSSIBLE to get off her mind. Not even ice cream was going to shake it.. was it?
... was it?
Funny enough though, fate would at least push her somewhat in the right direction hopefully.. as the girl with too much thinking and not enough looking where she was going would literally run right into.. Izumi. The girl who had defeated her... who knew if that was going to be a good thing for her mood or not. Time would tell. For now though, the soft little thing had likely bumped into the young woman and if she had, would likely end up falling right on her butt on the floor. Little tears might even build up in her eyes, although she would normally be strong enough to avoid such tears.. her emotional state was bit fragile at the moment.

Izumi was now enjoying the next order of ice cream parfait when she felt someone bump into her. She was seated at a counter, therefore her legs were dangling from the seat where she was located—and then she looked down, and then recognized that it was the same girl she’d just finished battling against! Oh dear, potentially awkward situation here… she thought, before sucking it up and then hopping off the stool, keeping one hand on the parfait she was now eating. “Uhh… hi there,” she began, definitely unsure on how to begin the interaction; but decided to toss it out the window anyway and continue with the conversation, even if it was going to get really awkward. “I’d like to say something…” she continued, finally bringing the parfait with her as she then squatted down so that they were on an eye-to-eye level.
“I… I really didn’t mean to take it out on your Gyarados that hard,” she continued, tossing all sense of reasoning and sense out the window, and then taking another breath before continuing, “…so I know that you may be holding it against me now, but I’d like to formally apologize to you…and would you want to have some ice cream with me? I’ll pay for it, so don’t worry,” she added at the end, hoping that she would agree to the set-up! I don’t know if giving her ice cream would help calm her down, but man, that frown on her face is something I don’t like seeing on a young girl’s face… to be faced with a loss like that in front of a nationally-televised event… it’s a surprise that she’s holding it in so well… she thought to herself, quite impressed with the way that she was keeping her own…emotions in check.

WORDS 300 TAGS @angel NOTESword count: this is Sparta
She looked up at this lady.. it was the lady she was battling. She wanted to use her hands to hide her face.. she felt real silly right now. She was supposed to be making friends.. not crying. Not crying was very hard right now though.
She felt the feelings continue to bubble up in her.. and it just made her want to hide even more. What eventually became her first response though was a nod.. "I... ice cream.." She kept nodding a little. It was a little easier then outright saying words. She positioned herself in the seat next to her, scooting up on it. These seats were so tall, she had to climb them almost like a tree.
Once she was situated.. she sort of just stared at the counter for a little bit. Looking at her was a little hard. She felt her body shiver and shake as her mind tried to wander on the things around her. The sounds of bowls and spoons and glasses clanging. The smell of the lady next to her.. anything. Her mind though was a bit focused on the words she had spoke.. and how to respond to her.
"I'm not mad." she said, still looking at the counter. "I'm not mad at you. I wanted to have fun. It was supposed to be fun.. I just.. wish.." she felt something in her chest feel like it was jumping.
"I just wish I wasn't the worst." she felt that way right now. Dramatizing obviously. She was crying again though.. and the crying was a bit exhausting at this point. "The worst.. B.T. doesn't even listen to me. Wonder Bird probably hates me.."
It was easy to get caught up in it all. If she let her continue.. it would only continue in this fashion.

“Come on, don’t be ashamed to speak up,” she said, switching from her usual sassy, snappy voice into something a bit more… “tender” if you may. Sisterly would have been the correct term, and she was just taking a blind guess as to what she was doing at the moment. She was about to help her climb up the tall stool, but she had managed, somehow—and she then climbed back onto her seat and then placed the tall parfait glass back onto the counter. Waving over at one of the wait staff, she then motioned for a menu and after a few moments of waiting, one was passed to her; and she then casually placed it on the table for her companion to peruse when she said something from out of the blue. She then realized that her companion had run into the same dilemma that she’d been battling with for the longest time—a sense of insecurity and uncertainty when it came to battling. She knew exactly how she felt; and what if her own Pokémon hated her? Was that even possible? After a few moments of contemplative silence, she then spoke up.
“I know how that feels. To be honest, my Hydreigon is still in a state of berserk denial, and I’m having a hard time getting him set straight again. it was his first time out in actual battle—not this tournament mind you, but elsewhere—and he’s never been right ever since he’d gotten frozen due to a stupid point-blank Ice Beam attack. Everyone hates to lose, it… it just takes time to come to terms with it. I admit, battling isn’t my strong point too, but I manage to get by with sheer luck… or rather, the lack of it,” she began in a quiet voice, loud enough so that only her companion could hear her. “Look, there’re other things you can be good at. It’s not the end of the world if you lose. In fact, I can probably tell you I’m going to get my rear end handed to me with the remaining competitors in this tournament, because some of them I’ve already seen do battle, the others I’ve heard of by reputation… all you got to do is square your shoulders, chin up, and face the wild. Win or lose, it’s not that feeling that matters, right? It’s the bond we share with our Pokémon that does.”
Izumi didn’t know if those words were enough to get her out of that funk, but she most certainly did try to cheer her up… somewhat. “If you don’t mind my asking… what’s your purpose for going on a journey? I’d like to know, so that at least I could try and offer you some advice,” she continued a few moments later, having eaten half of the parfait she had with her. She then nudged the menu towards her and then said, “Here, pick whatever you want, I’ll pay for it,” while looking at her half-empty glass of chocolate parfait.
First was ice cream. There was a lot of things she wanted to say in response to all the things the nice older lady was telling her, but ice cream was really important. She skimmed through it before saying.. "I want a hot fudge sundae." It sounded a bit entitled, although that might just be the vibe of her age mixed with the still tad pouty way she said it. Obviously her mood wasn't completely fixed already, although it was on the rise.
Once the ice cream had been good and ordered there was a moment of silence. The menu having been taken away upon order.. she had nothing to really focus her eyes on. (They were until this time, focused on staring at the pictures of the ice cream.) So awkward or not she had to turn her head and look at this woman. This.. she really was nice wasn't she?
She liked this person already, she did. It actually made it harder to look at her though. She didn't understand why. "I.. see." It was a really awful response. She was obviously having trouble. Her usually unfiltered thoughts were cramming in her brain trying to all squeeze through the door at the same time. The door that had become a bit smaller due to the pressure the feels were putting on her brain.
Eventually she said.. "B.T. maybe doesn't want to be with me. He fought and stuff and he doesn't hurt me, but maybe he thinks I'm stupid. I thought maybe I could be his friend but maybe he'll give up on me already." then she paused and said.. "And Wonder Bird is always working so hard, and wants to be the best. If I can't help her become the best, maybe I'm a bad friend." She was explaining why she was upset about losing. A lot of this stuff could probably be guessed, but it helped to explain it.
To be honest she was wrong about both Pokemon. B.T. in his own odd way liked his new role in life, considering himself a dragon with a captured princess. Wonder Bird if anything was feeling the same way as Angel, disappointed in herself for letting Angel down. Worried that Angel wouldn't want to be with her anymore. She didn't know these things though.
Then the final thoughts. "If people are so much better then you, and you're better then me.. then doesn't that mean I got no chance?" she said. Deep down she wanted a chance, she wanted to be cool and dazzling and flashy. To be able to do this kind of thing. She had sort of let let down her idealistic fantasies about things.
"I wanna try a bunch of things and do cool sutff.. but.. " she paused, remembering why she really did start this journey. Why she left her home city to begin with. "But.. I wanna make friends. That's the real real reason." she said.. slowly pulling out her photo album. Full of pictures of both her Pokemon and her friends she had been making on her journey. It was amateurish but sweet.

“It happens… wait a second; your Gyarados isn’t too friendly with you? Why not… hmm, why not have him meet up with another Gyarados so that he can get used to being around you?” Izumi began, implying the suggestion that she was going to be using her own Gyarados—who wasn’t such a hothead—in order to help her get used to him and things. “They’re really crazy at first, but once they mellow down and get used to you… they’ll do anything for you. I mean, anything,” she added; remembering the times she had to struggle with taming the crazy Gyarados and make him a bit more… tolerant of her presence; because she wasn’t his first owner—in fact, she’d gotten him as a gift from some guy who just left his Gym in some faraway region—which she now realized was Orre. That aside, though, she then looked up and then heard her speaking again—and then scoured her memory for something that she could use in a situation like this. She then called the waitress over and ordered another parfait, before turning to her younger companion and then giving an answer.
“Everyone gets their chance…it just takes some time before the revelation, or realization, hits you. It can come now, it may come later… but don’t force yourself into something that you’d end up regretting sooner or later,” she added with a nod, before she pulled out an album that was apparently crammed with pictures. As she began turning the pages, Izumi then caught sight of someone who looked really familiar—before realizing that it was her sponsor all the way out in Unova! “Whoa… wait. Wait a second,” she said, gently reaching across and then flipping it back to a certain point. “You… you know the Pretty Boy?” she asked her, pointing to the picture of herself and that crazy ash-haired guy; they were apparently making duck faces at the camera along with their Vullabies flapping and flailing in the foreground and background, respectively.
The sight of the picture she was talking about and the question helped distract her more then she had been so far. "Oh yes! That's Kouji! I met him in Nimbasa where I live!" talking about friends suddenly excited the girl a little bit, and continued to distract her from the sad thoughts. "He bought me this camera and helped me get started!" Since then she had come all the way to Hoenn on a whim. She wondered how he was doing.
Then she realized that she was asking for a reason. "You know him? Why do you call him pretty boy? Is he your boyfriend?" she thought in her own silly little way that this leap of logic made sense. Plus.. she had boyfriends on the mind lately a tad. She was thinking a lot about that sort of stuff.. who she might meet when she got older. She wanted to try having a boyfriend.. she thought it sounded really nice.
The Gyarados question hadn't exactly been ignored.. or well maybe it had. It was easier to ignore it for a moment.

Izumi’s suspicions were correct—Angel had encountered her sponsor, way back in Unova. Doing what, I can only most likely guess… but that’s neither here nor there… she thought to herself as she then watched the change overtake Angel; from the gloomy little cloud that was hanging over her, it was suddenly replaced with a sunny disposition. “Well, yes, I know him… but only because he’s my go-to Breeder!” she began, stammering as the “boyfriend” comment reached her ears! “Well,” she continued a few moments later, trying not chuckle out loud, “…he’s the one I’m funding from the sidelines. He kind of approached me when I was passing through Unova, when he was still getting started… and so I helped him get off the ground with his little breeding place he’s running,” she offered, for way of explanation. “The reason why I call him ‘Pretty Boy’… well, he’s quite vain, even if he doesn’t show it. First time I met with him he was looking in a mirror trying to figure out how to perfectly mess up his hair so it has that ‘I just got out of bed’ look,” she added with a chuckle, resisting the urge to roll her eyes—but internally, she did that all the same.
“He still has his big clunky camera with him?” she backpedaled a few moments later, taking a look at the other shots of the two—it was mostly wacky faces being made at the camera; and she could see why too; the Vullabies were apparently having too much of a fun time to even sit still for a few moments. She then remembered the remark of him actually buying her camera for her, and then grinned again. “Looks like he’s doing just fine now... whenever I’m out and about, I try to spread the word for his breeding business. Apparently, the word got out just fine, he’s raking in the cash so to speak,” she added with a grin on her face. “Going on a journey to make friends… that doesn’t sound so bad. Hey, as long as you’re having fun with it then I don’t see why not,” she added, shrugging as the parfait she’d ordered finally arrived, oozing with chocolate sauce and whipped cream.
Angel was loosening up. Part of why became very obvious very fast. Angel's face turned into a big honest smile and said. "You're really nice! I love it! You helped him, you even paid for stuff too! I want to buy people things! That would be fun!" her speech and mannerisms betrayed something, she still really wasn't that used to speaking with people despite enjoying to do so very much. Thoughts entered her head and flew out of her mouth quickly.
The ice cream she ordered arrived, plopped in front of her. If she wasn't looking happy before, the excited look on her face and then her energetic grabbing of her spoon.. almost looking as if she was ready to attack the ice cream made it obvious. She took a big spoonful and slipped it in her mouth, she looked so very happy. The way she was going at it was a bit immature for her age, but this was pretty normal for Angel. She really did feel younger then 10 a lot of the times, being a rather coddled sheltered daughter of a mother who might have accidentally kept her child her little baby as long as she possibly could.
However she was 10.. and the part of her that was still was curious about something. "So how come you don't wanna be his girlfriend?" she was actually kind of confused about it. It didn't quite make sense to her, but like everything she had an idealistic and innocently immature idea of romance in her head. "You guys shared money and helped each other out, and you are both alike and so nice! You should be together!"
Post by Izumi Yamamura on Aug 20, 2014 3:31:41 GMT -5
Seeing that both their orders had arrived, she was really surprised at the transformation that overtook Angel—she was now acting more “normally”—if one could consider moping as being “normal” for a young child like herself. As she continued to eat through the parfait in front of her, she then got a question that almost made Izumi cough up the most recent spoonful of ice cream he’d shoveled down her throat! Ack, potentially awkward question… oh, right, I have a ready answer to that, she thought as she then hastily rearranged her features into one that didn’t look too surprised! “Why? It’s quite simple. We’re more of business partners; since I travel around a lot and he’s always at his Ranch, I spread the word for other people to drop by his place if they have any breeding requests that they want done. That, plus he’s too old for me,” she added with a chuckle, waving the spoonful of ice cream around before shoveling it into her mouth.
She knew that her lackluster explanation wasn’t too detailed, so after shoveling a few more scoops of ice cream into her mouth, she continued, “Well, for starters… I’m on my own journey, so I need an affiliate who can take care of all my other ‘mons for me. He’s a Breeder with quite the sizable Ranch over in… Humilau I think it was, and since he wanted to see and experience a lot of other types asides from the ones he already has, we agreed on a deal: I would help his business get off the ground if he would take care of my other ‘babies’ for me so that they’re not just sleeping in cold storage on the Computer,” before stopping for a bit and then plucking up the cookie that was floating in the tall glass. “Bottoms up,” she added with a chuckle, before digging through the glass in order to be able to get to the chocolate fudge at the bottom!
After some moments of silence, she then spoke up again, “Tell me if you want any more ice cream… it’s on me,” before returning to her own half-gone parfait. There was still quite a lot of ice cream in it, but the best part about this was the hot fudge that had sunk to the bottom of the tall glass!

WORDS 393 TAGS @angel NOTESPotentially awkward situation there for her lol
She listened to her all her saying stuff but to be honest... "I dunno, if you guys are already helping each other out and stuff, why not do boyfriend and girlfriend stuff too! He didn't look really old! He wasn't an old guy or nothing.." she said, happily taking another bite. She really had an idealistic and somewhat simplistic view on romance.. something just fun. Her mother and father were very happy together and she never really got much of a vibe on the bad side of relationships and how complicated they could make things.. another example of her sheltered life.
Still.. there was more. She took a big drink of a water she had brought, going.. "Ahh.." once she was done. It felt warmer after drinking all the ice cream, but that was kinda a nice feeling too. "I should ask him to do that too though! I was told it's not nice to keep your Pokemon all the time in the balls, but I got so many and people get mad when I have a bunch out!" she said, which was a frustration she had faced. She kind of felt pouty now.. she totally should have asked him before.

Little did Angel know that she’d hit a nail that had been bothering Izumi for a long time—had she truly moved on from the red-head who was watching her from the great beyond? She knew about ghosts existing and other some such tales of that kind, but was there a possibility that he was there with her, right at this very moment? She then realized that there was a potentially awkward silence forming between them, so she coughed in order to be able to organize her thoughts, before continuing, “Oh, Angel. Things are way more complicated than that,” she began, realizing that her own parfait order was now officially empty. She then clanged her glass against the spoon, and the person who’d been attending to her orders quickly approached her, and she then picked up the menu that was lying on the table and then pointed at the biggest picture of a banana split that they had in it. “Give me that big one you got. Oh, and I’m paying for her stuff too,” she added, pointing a discreet thumb to Angel’s side.
Now that her biggest order had been placed, she then turned to Angel, trying to formulate an explanation as to how to get around this. She then decided to pick up from a certain point, and began, “Well, he does run a Ranch after all; so all of the ‘mons under his care get the chance to be free and no confined all the time in their PokeBalls. Whenever he borrows someone from my “collection”, he also lets them out to graze, and he can breed most of them. Most, considering that some species have bans on them at the moment; or they’ve been…unbreedable right from the very start,” she said, being unable to explain the process as to why some of the rarer ‘mons were made that way; was it population control, or something? “Since he runs his own Ranch, it’s okay for him to have all his companions out. But of course… if you’re out and about, you can’t have them all with you all out at the same time. People are kind of touchy,” she added with a sigh, closing the menu and then taking a deep breath, before pouring herself another glass of water in order to be able to neutralize the sweetness she’d been eating so far.
“Well… you can say that there’s someone else I’m…interested in, at the moment,” she continued, flushing slightly pink at the mention of it. She didn’t let her know though, that it was someone who was very much alive. “So my ‘relationship’ with Kouji is more on a professional level,” she ended, taking a sip of water in order to calm her nerves down.

WORDS 459 TAGS @angel NOTESThe banana split that's coming is a whopper.
The young girl seemed finally satisfied when she nodded at the last bit if Izumi's little speech.
"You like someone else? Oooh, tell me about him!" there was a bit of excitement evident in Angel's body language that made it obvious that relationships were just something that was on this girl's mind. She was at that age wasn't she? To start romanticizing it all and think about it.
However more thoughts entered her head, causing her to take a slower bite of the ice cream she was finishing up. The gears turning in Angel's head so fast that it was a good thing she wasn't actually made of clockworks or she would be bothering everyone in the restaurant.
"Don't you love him too though? I love Kouji!" she said, giving her a big warm smile. It was a simple feeling but it's what her heart wanted to say, as always. She did feel platonic love for Kouji, gained stronger due to the distance they had made between themselves since the early meeting. It was still something that was so strong in her head though, such a helpful moment.
She started to think that it would be nice of she and Izumi could love each other too.
Post by Izumi Yamamura on Aug 27, 2014 5:58:22 GMT -5
Thankfully, Izumi had averted the attention from her sponsor away from the potentially embarrassing explanation that she had in mind! She then grinned, before trying her best to answer the question, “Well, you can say it’s a one-sided thing for now. He doesn’t know. I’m trying to find the right time to tell him… but in the end him and I end up just chasing each other around the area and teasing each other to all hell. That, and sparring with his ‘mons too,” she said, waving the spoon around, trying to keep her hands busy as the giant banana split that she’d ordered earlier. Now that the topic of “love” had been brought up, she froze—but only for a few moments, because she already had her stride back and knew just how to reply. “Love… is a many-splendored thing. It can range from friendship, to your parents, to someone special that may have caught your eye… so it all depends on how you define ‘love’ in the context. Wait, let me try to make it simpler…”
She then reached for her back pocket and then pulled out a battered, yet trusty-looking notepad, and then ripped off a sheet from it, along with a pen. She also decided to make use of the napkins as well, just in case she ran out of stuff to write on. Quickly scribbling down on the piece of paper first, she then began, “Love… of course it’s a given that you love your parents, right?” and then drew a circle on the paper, along with the word “love” in it before drawing a line, and then another circle with the word “family” in it. “It can also be… how you feel for a certain someone, like… you know that giggly, giddy feeling you get when you see them for the day, then you’re walking on cloud nine and you feel like you can go do anything? That’s another representation of ‘love’,” she continued, before drawing another line and then writing “the special someone” in it. “It… can also be Pokémon, too. You form a bond, you grow with them, they learn from you, we learn from them… it’s an endless cycle,” she added with a chuckle, before scribbling the word “Pokemon” in another circle and then drawing the same line to the word “love” that she’d started out with.
Just as she was about to get into the more complicated explanations, she then saw that the trusty waiter was now headed their way, holding a tray with both hands—“Man, it is huge,” she added with a blink, quickly clearing out the space and then letting the staff deliver the whopper of a split so that it sat between them. “Whoa. Huge,” was all she could saw as she quickly handed the staff her empty parfait glass to take away. “Well… what do you think? Is it big enough?” she asked with a grin on her face.
