Zone 4, the Grassland and Watering Hole. How else do you start off your first trek into the Safari Zone? Josh had traveled quite a ways in Hoenn, seen people, seen Pokemon, but had seen nothing like this before. Pokemon that you wouldn't find anywhere else seemed to flock here, seemed to love this as a home.
What better place to catch rare Pokemon?
He'd heard about some of the Pokemon in this particular part of the zone... Pokemon such as Cyndaquil, Squirtle, Eevee, Totodile, Tyrunt, and more flocked this area. Perfect. Any one of them would be a valued member of his team. Of course, he'd always wanted a Cyndaquil since he was a kid, but who knows what he'd find here today?
He was curious though... A benefactor had given him the pass and ball. They were quite pricy, what kind of charitable soul was going around these parts, he wondered? Regardless.... He'd hunt them down later. For now, he was here to try and catch a friend.
Slowly, Joshua made his way into the grass... Hoping he could try and sneak up on a Pokemon. If he was quick, he might be able to catch one unawares and catch them that way...

I'VE GOT THE GUTS TO SAY ANYTHING
Sneaky and smooth was probably something Amber was not good at. Both her and her shiny Mightyena stayed in the tall grass. Fang's tail flickered back and forth in anticipation, his eyes narrowed and watching the grass for movement. Amber was kneeling next to him, tugging her red jacket closer to her. While they wouldn't normally do this for catching Pokemon, the safari zone was quite different. It was where the rares ran free, and most of them had trust issues to get over. So what else could they do? If they showed themselves they would probably run. The two looked at each other for a moment and sighed heavily. They had been here for over an hour in the same spot, same position.
Amber leaned back on her hands, blowing up her bangs to the side. "The Safari Zone wasn't so dead the last time we came here." She said to Fang in a low voice. The Mightyena nodded, still in the position to pounce at any given time. Suddenly, they heard the grass rustle. Fang perked up and took a step back while Amber gathered herself and the safari ball in hand. The sound came closer and closer and right when the noise was right in front of them...
"Go!" Amber cried, jumping up and seeing what Pokemon had appeared. However, her eyes widened and she grabbed at the air for Fang before he pounced on another Trainer instead. Her hands nabbed the Mightyena's tail and pulled him back, falling backwards with the Mightyena on top of her. "Ooof!" It took a moment for her to regain her breath but she pushed Fang off of her and stood up, brushing herself off before looking up towards the Trainer she had probably spooked. He seemed older than her, maybe 19 or older. "Ah, sorry sorry. Didn't mean to scare you, or any of the Pokemon around here." Amber apologized, rubbing her head in embarrasment. The Mightyena by her side simply sat down and snorted. Wasn't his fault he couldn't tell the difference between a Pokemon and a human noise.

The instant the Mightyena went for the pounce, something would pop out of one of Josh's Pokeballs. Luckily, Amber would pull Fang back before anything happened. Of course, that didn't stop the angry Pichu, who instantly went for a Thundershock.
"Piiiii... CHUUUUUUUU!" the Pichu with the little blue bandana on his neck let out as he went for the jolt, though was pulled back by Josh at the last second, causing the shock to miss them entirely. Of course, the noise would scare off any Pokemon nearby, something that irritated Josh...
"Lightning, relax, it was just an accident" he said, patting the protective Pichu on the head. He looked over at the woman and smiled a bit.
"Quite alright" he said, cracking his neck as Lightning stared them down for a moment, though relaxed at the petting and closed his eyes, cooing affectionately. "Piiii~"
"I'm sure he just mistook me for a Pokemon, that's all" he said, chuckling. "Are you alright?"

I'VE GOT THE GUTS TO SAY ANYTHING
"YIKES!" Even though the Thundershock had missed them completely, the fear factor of the move caused Amber to duck down to the ground. Fang yelped in surprise, but watched as the bolt struck behind them. Amber looked up from underneath her arms, blinking as she stared at the man and the Pichu before her. Standing up again, she brushed herself off and glanced at Josh. "Oh, I'm good. A bit dirty, but good. Thanks though." She said with a small nod. The Mightyena beside her simply stood up and glanced at the Pichu with a snort. He had no reason to be scared of such a small Pokemon.
Amber glanced down at Fang and shook her head, turning to face Josh to apologize once more. "Again, sorry. I didn't mean to scare your Pichu." She said, giving a soft glance towards the small Pokemon. Pichu were quite adorable Pokemon, and this one seemed to act like it was tough. It almost reminded her of her Pokemon at times. Then, remembering what she had came here for, Amber looked around their surroundings and groaned in frustration. Crossing her arms, she shook her head before looking down at the Mightyena. "Well, I think we scared off the Pokemon in this area." Glancing up towards Josh again she gave a sheepish smile. "Didn't mean to scare off any of the rares around here. Maybe to make it up to you I can keep an eye out for a certain Pokemon for ya?" She offered. It wasn't much, but she did feel bad for almost attacking the man and his Pichu. It was the least she could do.

He smiled a bit as he helped her to her feet gently, before releasing her hand. "Sorry about my Pichu, again" he said, smirking down at Lightning as he ran his fingers through the little electric mouse's fur. "He's protective. If he thinks I'm in danger, he has absolutely no problem with letting himself out of his Pokeball. There was one time, a long time ago where I saved this little one from certain death, and he hasn't left my side since. I think he feels he owes me because everytime there's a chance somethings going to happen to me, he's there, out of his Pokeball" he explained, shrugging. "I appreciate it though" he said with a smile as he picked Lightning up and let the Pichu cuddle itself into his chest. "It's a hassle, but I know he's just trying to protect me like I did for him"
"Aye, it looks like we did" he said, looking around with a sigh. Gah, they'd be here even longer now.... "It's fine. But if you happen to see a Cyndaquil, Totodile, Tyrunt, Squirtle or Eevee around, let me know" he said, smiling faintly. "I've been unable to find any of them anywhere in my travels so far, and I heard that several of them could be found here. I've... Actually been here a few hours" he admitted sheepishly with a chuckle. "They seem to sense that there are humans here with Pokeballs, because they're rather good at hiding" he explained, sighing.
"But... Perhaps we could search together for the Pokemon we're looking for?" he suggested. "Two heads, or in this case four, are better then one, I suppose" he said, looking down at Lightning. "Think I'll let him stay out of his Pokeball for now so I can keep an eye on him"

I'VE GOT THE GUTS TO SAY ANYTHING
Amber couldn't help but smile softly at the Pichu."Awe. The poor thing." She said, giving it a smile. She couldn't even believe to imagine what sort of situation the Pichu was put in. Even though that the Pichu could probably handle itself, it didn't mean the poor thing was scared out of it's mind. "Well, good for you for rescuing him." Amber said with a nod.
As she glanced around, Amber noticed the tall grass rustling and saw a small, brown Pokemon run away from the scene. Sighing in frustration, she crossed her arms and scratched her head in thought. "Safari Zone is a game of patience it seems..." Amber said. She made a small mental note to herself to keep an eye out for the Pokemon that the man was searching for. Nodding, she motioned for Fang to get up and start searching.
Nodding, she began to move forward through the grass. Having more eyes and ears on a team was always a good thing. Glancing over her shoulder, she called back to the man. "Oh yeah, I never introduced myself. Name's Amber, this is Fang." She said. The Mightyena growled at his name, looking back every so often to make sure that the two were still following him.

(Priority switch, I got Cyndaquil from a friend, so I can scratch him off that looking list)
He couldn't help but smile a bit. "Oh, he's a tough one now. I rescued him when he was a little bitty baby, so he's been with me for a long time" he explained with a grin.
Josh noticed it too, but frowned when the little brown Pokemon would disappear into the bushes. "Damn, I think that was an Eevee too..." he muttered, sighing. Maybe they'd find something else he was looking for, at least?
As they moved through the grass, he looked over at her once she spoke. He smiled a bit, and let Lightning climb onto his shoulder.
"Josh" he replied curtly. "And this is Lightning" he said, petting the fur on the head of his little Pichu. "Pi-Pi-Pichu!" Lightning greeted eagerly.

I'VE GOT THE GUTS TO SAY ANYTHING
"Nice to meet you, Josh, Lightning." Amber said, raising her hand for a handshake. However, her hand shot down when a Pokemon jumped between the two. Her hand quickly was pulled back as the Totodile ran between the two, ducking down into a large pond beside them. Thankful that her hand wasn't bitten off, Amber quickly turned on her feet and smirked down at Fang. The canine didn't need anymore than that. He took off after the Totodile, jumping into the water and chasing it down. However, the Water type had more of an advantage over him. The distance between them grew and Amber sighed. Glancing over at Josh, she waved then pointed towards the pond. "Looks like one of your Pokemon is getting away, don't worry though, I'm on it." Amber said with a smirk.
She rushed over to the pond's edge and frowned. Glancing over her shoulder, she cupped her mouth and yelled back at Josh. "Hey, I'll meet you on the other side!" And with that, Amber was off and running along side the pond's edge. The golden Mightyena's fur was the only reason Amber was able to keep track of him in the water. Hopefully, they'd catch it in time for Josh to show up and take it down. Then she had some of her own searching to do.
ooc// The Totodile is free to control now, She's currently in the pond approaching the other side to make a break for it from Fang.

Josh was about to extend his hand to shake when a Totodile almost bit their hands off. His surprise turned into a big grin as he watched it duck into the pond. He watched as Amber tried to fulfill more then just her promise as she went right after it. Still, he was happy to have her helping him with catching it. He smiled a bit as he nodded at her words and headed out to meet her at the other side of the pond, with Lightning clinging to his shoulder.
"Come on, Lightning. Let's catch ourselves a new friend!" he chirped cheerfully with a smirk as he ran, with that Safari Ball tucked tight between his fingers. He was itching to catch it the first chance he got!
Of course, then he would help Amber with whatever she was looking for. He owed it to her after all.
Josh would make his way to the other side of the pond, just in time for the Totodile to swim to that side. Josh had cut him off.
He smiled a bit. "Alright, go Lightning!" he called. "Pi!" the Pichu would respond, hopping off Josh's shoulder and landing in front of the Totodile, with it's cheeks sparking. The little mouse looked determined now. It had that "I need to prove myself" kind of look, as if it'd been waiting for a moment like this for quite some time.
"Lightning, use Quick Attack!" he called. "Pi!" Lightning responded, taking off at a charge, disappearing one moment, re-appearing another... He seemed quite fast for one so young.
Lightning would slam himself into the Totodile, who would fly back and land in the water. "Good shot!" Josh complimented with a grin. "Pi!" Lightning responded eagerly, but would be back on guard as the Totodile would spring back out of the water, and it didn't look happy.
The Totodile would suddenly send out a blast of energy, using it's Rage attack that would send Lightning back. "Lightning, compose yourself! Don't let that hit get to you!" Josh called as Lightning managed to get up, a bit dazed but the little mouse seemed okay. "Lightning, use Thundershock!" he called.
Lightning would let his cheeks jolt for a moment before releasing it... "Piiii... CHUUUUUU!" he would let out as a surge of electricity would fly toward the Totodile, who would dodge it, the blast almost colliding with Amber. Luckily, that would miss, but that gave opening for the Totodile to go for a Crunch attack, which Lightning managed to step back from. It would try and Crunch Lightning several times, but the Pichu would let it's evasion do the work as he rolled to and fro and leaped into the air to try and keep away from it's sharp teeth.
"Lightning, you can't let it bite you, those jaws are sharp!" Josh called out. "Pi Pi Pi!" Lightning responded as he managed to duck under another Crunch attempt. The Totodile would attempt to bite one more time...
"Lightning, jump on it's head!" Josh quickly called. "Pi!" Lightning would respond as it narrowly jumped over the Crunch attack, bouncing off it's head, leaving it dazed...
"Alright Lightning, finish it with your Thunder Shock!" Josh called. Lightning would turn to face it's opponent in mid-air and let the cheeks charge... "Piiii.... CHUUUUUUUUUUUU!" Lightning would let out, the surge of electricity this time hitting the Totodile directly. It would let out a series of noises as it was zapped, then fall to the ground...
As Lightning hit the ground and looked back at his opponent, Josh would take his chance.
"Come on, Totodile, you're mine!" he called as he threw the Safari Ball. It would hit the Totodile and zap it in.

I'VE GOT THE GUTS TO SAY ANYTHING
The Totodile was cut off at the edge. Amber skidded to a stop, seeing her Mightyena come up out of the pond. She held out a hand for Fang not to interrupt the battle, shaking her head. The canine growled, watching the battle between the Pichu and the Totodile intensely. He didn't sit down and simply walked over to Amber, staring at the battle carefully. As the battle went on, Amber screamed again as a Thundershock went past her. Ducking down, again, she hit the ground and lifted herself on her elbows to watch the rest of the battle.
With the Totodile down, she sighed in relief as she brought herself back up from the ground. Brushing herself off, she walked over to Josh and glanced down at the Safari Ball that was on the ground, containing the Totodile inside. "Good job. Now, let's see if I can find what I'm looking for." She said, feeling Fang come up to her side. Amber crossed her arms, tapping her chin in thought. "Right, okay so I'm after a Fennekin." She said, mostly out loud to herself. Fang walked away from Amber's side, sniffing the ground for any scents that he could pick up. Hopefully they were successful, or they would be forced to catch whatever Pokemon they found last before their time was up.

Josh couldn't help but grin as he picked up Totodile's Pokemon. "Alright, I caught a Totodile!" he said, taking a good long look at the ball before looking over at Lightning and knelling down beside him to let him see the ball.
Lightning sniffed the ball curiously and looked up at Josh. "Pi?" it questioned. Josh smiled and patted his head, prompting a "Chaaa~" from the Pichu as Josh ran his fingers through his fur. "This is all because of you, Lightning. I couldn't have done it without you" he said.
He looked over at Amber and smirked. "Thanks for the help" he said as he started walking. "Come on, let's help you find yourself a Fennekin" he said, looking around. He owed her now, he was going to do his best to help her.
Some kind of blue thing would woosh through the grass nearby, catching Lightning's attention as his ears perked up. "Pi?" he questioned, looking around. "What is it, Lightning?" Josh asked as he looked down at his partner. "Did you see something?"
