Izumi knew that she was down to her last dig for the month, so she decided to make the most of it. she’d had quite a run so far, and knew that she had to get going otherwise she’d end up not being able to find anything while the streak was still hot. Surprisingly, the line was a bit shorter than the usual that she was accustomed to—was it because there were less and less people heading out the more the month wore on? She then fell in line, securing the fanny pack that now held the five marbles and that funny-looking Key Stone that she’d found some time ago when she decided to start digging. I’ve had a couple of bad starts, sure, but at least it’s now going all well and fine now… she thought to herself as she started slapping on some sun block in order to be able to protect her paling complexion from the harsh rays of the sunlight that bore down on the excavation site. I wonder if Pretty Boy has found anything interesting… she thought as she then stepped through the inspection part, getting the thorough check-down before being given the all-clear and heading out into the dig site.
She then began looking around for a spot that she hadn’t touched yet—why didn’t she bring along some markers in order to be able to check where she’d been so far? “Besides, everything looks the same to me…” she muttered to herself as she then began hiking past people who were just settling down to dig, like her—or were already on their way out of the site because they’d either found what they needed or they found absolutely nothing. Ah, here we are… she thought to herself after some hiking, finally finding a place where she was sure she hadn’t been yet. She then reached down to her belt and quickly plucked up several Pokeballs, quickly releasing their contents—the first two transformed into her Garchomp and Swampert; while the last one transformed into her Excadrill. Now that the three were out, she then decided to try something else. “Alright, you three. This is my ast dig for the month. Get out there and find something good. Yuya, Draken, go do your thing. Carrie, feel free to start searching wherever feels good for you,” she said in their direction; and watched as the three ‘mons then dispersed to different locations; the “dynamic duo” had gone together, while the Excadrill then went up a little further north in order to begin searching.
She then remained at her spot before quickly setting down her bag and then starting to dig, letting her shoulders go through the motions. Nope, nothing here… nor here… nor here… she thought to herself, keeping an eye out for something interesting that might appear unexpectedly.

Izumi had managed to dig through a few layers of dirt without turning up anything, and thus gave a huff. Oh gosh, don’t tell me the bad luck strikes now; this is the last dig I have for the month… come on, don’t let me down! I know my luck may not be the best, but I got to turn up something, anything that can be used! She thought to herself as she then stuck the shovel into the ground and sank to her knees to catch her breath for a moment. She then squinted into the distance and saw that there were two shadows diving in and out of the ground—one belonged to her Excadrill (she knew it was Carrie because of the pointy, sharp appendages he now sported) and the other was either Garchomp or Swampert (it seemed that they were taking turns in bringing up the dirt topside) and knew that from the way they were digging, hadn’t found anything of interest yet. “Urgh, my arms hurt,” she groaned to herself, stretching them high above and then shaking her hands, in order to loosen up the feeling that was building up in them from clenching the shovel too hard.
After some time on the ground, she then saw that there was a shadow blocking the sun from view—she looked up and saw that Carrie was now in front of her, holding something in between one of his spinning appendages; and then gave it a slight look before waving him off, and then saying, “Nice try, Carrie… but uhm, can you try again? The vase is the least of our problems. If you see anything that looks like a marble, bring it up topside and then show me right away, okay?” she said, giving him a pet on the head as he then tossed the vase off to one side and then resumed diving in and out of the ground. She was now taking a brief break, eating some cookies she’d brought along with a flask of cold juice she’d brought along for the digging trip she’d made today—definitely not her usual fare, but she needed to get some variety going, otherwise she’d be going crazy by now. After twenty minutes of snacking, she then popped the last cookie from the plastic bag she’d gotten out of her backpack and belted the water bottle, before picking up the shovel along with her backpack, before heading to a new location so that she could dig.
She made sure that the new place she’d moved to was still within hearing range of the ‘mons that were digging, so that she could easily call them just in case she, or they found something and wanted to bring it to her! “Alright, try again…” she muttered to herself as she stuck the shovel into the ground and started digging once again.

Since her three ‘mons were out digging somewhere, Izumi decided to stop for a while and take a drink of the juice she’d packed along for the trip; and watched as the three shadows dived in and out of the ground; apparently they hadn’t found anything yet. Wonder what’s driving the luck to be so horrible… she thought to herself as she finished the bottle of juice and then tossed the empty bottle back into her bag; she then continued to dig through the area where she was searching; her fingers crossed and hoping that she would get something interesting! Please be something good, please be something good, please be something good! She mused to herself, stopping as she saw a glint of sunlight reflect against something that she was slowly unearthing! Oh yes, please be the thing I’m looking for, please be the thing I’m looking for! She thought, abandoning the shovel and then squatting down on her knees and then shoveling the dirt away with her own hands; after a few minutes’ of digging, she then came up with something that sparkled—but it wasn’t like a marble unlike any other she’d seen!
There was something trapped within the chunk of a fossil she’d dug up; and with trembling fingers, she scooped up the thing and then let the sun shine across its surface; before flipping it this way and that—just wondering what it was, in all honesty. This is so weird; I swear… she thought to herself; before deciding that the dig wasn’t quite such a bust after all. Well, there goes my last chance… I hope Pretty Boy finds something I can use… she thought to herself as she gave three successive whistle blasts; and a few moments later, three dirt-coated Pokémon made their appearance. She then looked at the Excadrill; then to the Garchomp and the Swampert. “Well, we found something, it may not be what we’re looking for, but let’s get to it, someone apparently wants this weird piece of a fossil…” she muttered, wrapping the Old Amber gently in a packing cloth and then recalling the three ‘mons she’d summoned before packing up and leaving the dig site. Until next month, then… she thought to herself, exiting through one of the side passages scattered around the area.
