After going on a few days’ worth of training (and scrambling up her team) Izumi felt that the time to return to the Badlands was nigh, so she decided to go during the afternoon so that there weren’t too many people digging up treasures left and right. Ever since she’d told Thomas about the existence of the shining, shimmering Mega Stones, she had a suspicion that even he was going to try his luck in the Badlands—seeing as he was also in Kalos and everything. Now that she had fallen in line, she decided to slip her shades on, and adjusted her fanny pack—it contained the special holding case wherever “most important treasures” were stored. Once she reached the entrance point, she then went through the security check; and once she was done, she then proceeded to walk into the dig site, looking around and seeing a lot of people trying their luck…or rather, lack of it. She then began scouring the area; trying to find a spot that she hadn’t “attacked” yet; which was her other way of saying that she’d already dug through that spot.
Once she’d gone around the entire area searching, she then saw a promising place; and then stuck the shovel into the ground; before plucking several Pokeballs from her belt and releasing their occupants in a flash of red light—the first two transformed into the now fully-tricked out (but still needed training) “dynamic duo” of Garchomp and Swampert; while the third and fourth ones turned into Ivan, the now-Pupitar and Carreau, her Excadrill. “Hi guys,” she began, watching the assembled mini-platoon of four ‘mons. “Some of you are old hands here, some of you are new. Well… Drak, Yuya, you know what to do. Take Ivan with you, okay?” she said towards the three, and they nodded before setting off to find a digging spot of their own. The Excadrill that remained with her looked at her out of confusion, before watching as she picked up the shovel and began digging. “Carrie… well, just do as I do, feel free to dig anywhere; if you see anything, let me know right away, okay?” she said as the Excadrill then took a dive at some fresh-looking dirt not too far away from where she was now digging.

As it was with old habit, the “dynamic duo” of Garchomp and Swampert were burrowing through the area, tossing up mounds and mounds of dirt for the Pupitar to eat topside. Ivan was having a hard time wiggling and flailing around; how could he even reach some of the other dirt mounds that were appearing from the hole near it?! Some of the dirt came flying directly into its open maw; while the rest were just… splattering all over the place. Back below, the two reunited “partners in crime” were having so much fun, they were teasing each other. Again, if anyone could understand their speech, this was what would have transpired between the two of them:
“Yuya! You’re finally on my level! Congrats for taking out that gigantic horde along with everyone else. So I take you want to cause some havoc now?”
“Of course, I’ve waited for this moment to gloat in your face, you know! As to how you mysteriously evolved I’ll leave it at that, but otherwise let’s get ready to rumble!”
“I missed digging with you! Anyway, if you get something shiny, let’s go surprise the Mistress and try to pop up right in front of her like a bunch of Diglett.”
“You’re crazy, we’re not Diglett! But yeah that idea sounds great.”
Back topside, the Pupitar then commenced rolling around in the dirt; trying to chew on the freshly-upturned ground and instead ended up getting itself dirty all over. It then huffed, before attempting to straighten itself again—and then ending up flopped upside, unable to move because its limbs were so stubbly short! Sighing out of frustration, it then continued to wiggle its legs while trying to get itself right-side up again. Over at where Izumi was, she was sighing; because the weather had decided to take a sticky turn for the worse! “Ugh, why is it so hot now?” she grumbled to herself as the normally cold air blowing through the area turned positively humid.
She then decided to vent out her frustration by digging into the “trench” that she had managed to excavate so far, not realizing that she had accidentally hit something. It was only after the most current shovel toss over her shoulder did she hear something crack; and it was an ominous-sounding crack at that. “Oh crap,” she hissed to herself, looking over at where she’d tossed the last shovelful of dirt—and recognizing it as a statue; with its “head” rolled off due to the force she’d put into the last overhand toss that she did. “Oops,” she muttered to herself, sighing as she then turned back to the trench and continued to dig through the long, hot day.

It didn’t take long for the “dynamic duo” to actually find something… and in their surprise they were tumbling over themselves in the tunnel that they’d dug up; much to the shock of the wiggling Pupitar topside. It then decided to throw its weight all the way forward… and came rolling down into the hole with the other two. It was the Swampert that had spotted the shimmering thing first; with a little wallop to the back of its partner’s head, Yuya then pointed it out to Draken; and they grinned—they knew they were going to be able to scare the hell out of their mistress now. The Pupitar then let out a grunt of annoyance and the Swampert noticed that their companion had somehow fallen into the hole—the Garchomp had stepped forward and then started digging up the ground around the sparking…marble. If they could be understood, then this is what they would have been talking about:
“Okay Yuya, I better let you know, Ivan fell into the hole…what? What are you gesturing at?”
“Look! It’s another one of those sparkling marble thingies! Let’s go surprise Mistress now! Let me just get it out…”
“Wait, what? There’s another one?”
“Go get it, I’ll bring Ivan along, he’s pretty… ah, disgruntled because he fell into the hole.”
“HEY! I heard that, Yuya! Don’t laugh at me ‘cause I have no arms! Help me out here, will you?!”
“Alright, alright. Come on, let’s get going.”
The Swampert then hefted up the Pupitar—with some difficulty; as she then realized that the Pupitar was pretty darned heavy. After a while of silent digging, the Garchomp had managed to dislodge the unusual-looking marble, and it fell to the dirt floor. Draken then stooped down and scooped it up, clenching it between his teeth as he then proceeded to dig forward—for he could hear not just one, but two distinct scraping noises, even down underneath the earth he loved so much to hide in.
Back topside…
The Excadrill kept diving in and out of the ground, splattering dirt everywhere; while Izumi kept on tossing shovelful after shovelful of dirt over her shoulder, without any sign of anything that looked unusual. Ever since the little “relic breaking” thing earlier, she’d been digging through the ground with reckless abandon, not minding if she’d found anything. It wasn’t until sometime later she jumped out and gave a yelp of surprise—for her Garchomp had suddenly appeared near the place where she was digging, leering in her direction like some crazed dragon.
“Geez, Draken! What the—WHOA!” she shouted again, as this time, a Swampert hefting a Pupitar appeared right next to the Garchomp; and from what she could tell, they were laughing about something; while the Pupitar was busy munching on the dirt they had recently disturbed. “Okay, what’s with the Diglett thing…” she began, before the Garchomp took a deep breath and then let the thing it was carrying in its mouth roll out to the freshly-upturned dirt that she was about to attack. At the sight of this, she then abandoned the shovel and sat down next to the two, who then dug themselves up and out of the hole—while she reached for her fanny pack and extracted the carrying case.
Unzipping it revealed the Key Stone and the four shining marbles she’d already found so far; when she plucked up this one and started cross-examining the colors against the ones she already had—when she saw that it wasn’t among the collection yet, she squealed! “Oh gosh, Draken, you’re such a good digger! Hey, Carrie! Come on out of there, we’re going! We got what we needed!” she shouted, and then watched as the Excadrill then came out of the other hole and then walked over to the spectacle that was going on—and saw that they were all celebrating! “Come on, let’s get outta here. We need to rest,” she said, quickly recalling all of the summoned ‘mons out of the Badlands, and packing up her things before exiting the excavation site.
