Izumi decided to return again and try her luck once more before the June season ended, and had pretty much the same ‘mons with her. She’d come back in the early morning, so that the heat wasn’t going to be as bad; and after she’d submitted to the preliminary inspection and pat-down, she then got the signal and the green light to go through—apparently people were digging up stuff left and right and she didn’t want to miss anything! She then decided to send out the “dynamic duo” first, but decided to send Draken ahead and let him dig alone. “Gar? Garchomp?” she heard it ask out of confusion, before sending Ivan the Larvitar out as well. “Feed out dirt-eater well, Drake. Let’s go, Yuya,” she said, going off to another promising site and then placing the shovel tip into the ground. “Well, Yuya? What’re you standing around there for, help me dig!” she said with a grin on her face as she began shoveling through the area; and watching as the Marshtomp began scrambling through another area of the dirt, flipping its limbs here and there, displacing dirt as it began digging much like a dog normally would. | | | | | WORDS 200 TAGS Diggin' NOTES Lesgo

The digging continued on in silence; and her thoughts drifted to where Draken was, digging solo without Yuya to accompany him—since Yuya was with her digging up the ground as well; she’d just realized that Gardevoirs could not dig at all. Over at where the Larvitar was sprawled out, still trying to catch whatever dirt the Garchomp sent topside, its view was temporarily obscured by something that came flying—and struck it squarely on its forehead out of surprise! Huffing in annoyance, it looked down at the offending object… and saw that it was an oddly-shaped chunk of rock. Wondering where it had come from, but deciding to not ask questions and just follow Izumi’s directions, it then decided to eat the crown that Draken had apparently dug up and had sent flying his way out of extreme haste, digging down deep and looking for something. Over at where Yuya and Izumi were, the two hadn’t made too much of a find yet; but saw that they had managed to excavate another swimming pool-sized hole. Wondering why it was so, the Marshtomp shrugged before flailing its limbs and dislodging more dirt, while Izumi continued to dig through the ground with earnest, completely and totally unaware that her Larvitar was eating away at a crown made of rock; there were lots of them in the area anyway—at least whenever they started digging, they seemed to turn up a lot of duds before striking gold! | | | | | WORDS 245 TAGS Nope NOTES Pass on the crown.

Izumi had gotten so preoccupied with digging she didn’t notice that the next “batch” of unearthed dirt that she’d dug up also had something sparkling with it—but her Marshtomp was quick to notice, and quickly made a dive towards the lump of ground that had the shimmering thing she’d spotted, and called her mistress’ attention by way of flailing; then raising her own voice. “Stomp!” Stomp, marshtomp!” she said in a panicked voice, trying to keep the shining marble-like thing in its clumsy grip; and that was more than enough to make her stop and look up at where the direction of the noise was coming from. “Marshtomp, marshtomp… marshtomp!” she heard Yuya chime in again, flailing—and then sending the sparkling thing in its hands flying, and a loud shriek of surprise erupted from the place where she was digging, which caused the Garchomp and the Larvitar (who was still munching on what was left of the crown-like object) to look up in the direction of where their mistress’ voice had come from. The Garchomp then heard its partner muttering in the usual Pokémon language, but if they could be understood, this is what Yuya would’ve been saying since earlier: “Mistress! Mistress! Stop digging, stop digging! Look what I got here! Gah! What’re you doing! Stop dropping dirt in my face! MISTRESS!” The Garchomp could only wonder just what the hell was going on, so after one final digging attempt, it pulled itself out of the hole and then gestured for the Larvitar to get on his back, lowering himself almost flat to the ground so that Ivan could scramble up, still clutching the remains of said “chewy treat” (the crown) as the two ‘mons headed over to the source of the screeching noises. Back in “the pit”, Izumi was now staring at another shiny marble that she had in her hands, and Yuya was gesticulating wildly, flailing its fins around and trying to make her understand something. “Wait, wait. Yu. Slow down. So you’re saying like what happened yesterday, the marble that had Draken’s… oh hi Drake,” she trailed off, waving in welcome at the Garchomp who appeared at the edge of the excavated hole along with Ivan, before continuing, “…I should check to see who matches up here?” she trailed off, though the coloration was already giving her a hint as to whose this one was. A few seconds later another ‘mon had appeared on the field, and it was Momo, despite her shiny coloration some vestiges of her former color still remained… and that was when it hit home; were the gods smiling down on her this time, to make up for the horrible time that she’d had in Shalour? “Mo… Momo! C’mere!” she squealed, quickly hugging the Embrace ‘mon and spinning her around. “Two down at least, but now… the real hell begins…” she trailed off, looking at the cheering ‘mons that were celebrating with her. “C’mon guys, let’s go. Another successful day,” she said with a grin, beckoning her ‘mons to follow her down and out of the excavation site. Soon. Very soon I’ll also learn the secret.
