There was no more turning back at this point. Izumi knew that she had to deal with this matter sooner or later; and no thanks to some poking around (and rather mindless coercing… or should we say hapless researching) her search finally led her to Shalour City; and the site where she was going to try and see if she could manage holding her own in another Trainer-exclusive battle. This was actually going to be her first battle that was not against a Gym Leader, so she was not sure how she was going to fare; the most important thing here was that she had to figure out just how the shiny, shimmering stone she’d found was used. And I hope that they’re not the tenaciously evil kind… nor the extremely annoying trolly type… she thought to herself as she stopped one of the natives and asked for directions on how to get to the Tower of Mastery, as it was called.
Sooner or later she was now located outside, and was staring up at the enigmatic structure, feeling the black cloak flapping around her due to the sea breeze. She could taste something tangy in the air; but shook it off; she knew that she had to get more powerful and rise up above her usual lowly standards—and then took deep breath and pressed her palms together, making a clapping noise echo all around her before she closed her eyes and then muttered a silent wish. After she was done, she then took off the cap that she had on her head and then proceeded inside—and once she got inside, a silence was present all around her, and she could only look upward; and she saw a statue within. It… it looked like something familiar, yet strange at the same time. Seeing that she was now within, and that there was no more turning back, she then took another deep breath, and saw that there was a very long, dizzying, spiral staircase winding around the area. She then directed her footsteps there; and then hoped that she did not run into anything too foul…

Ace Trainer Duo Izzy and Matt You've been challenged to a Double Battle!
The Tower of Mastery was quite busy on this certain day. Many Trainers, and even some other classes, were around the tower and eager to begin climbing the large staircase in front of them. Rumors about a master that lived at the top had gotten everyone around, he had great knowledge that he only shared with those were who strong. And that's why everyone was gathered there.
Before Izumi could get to the staircase, two Trainers suddenly moved their way in front and crossed their arms. The girl spoke directly at Izumi as she crossed her arms. "Hey, only those who have proven their strength to go up the staircase." She said in a stern voice. Even though she was not the juge of that, she appeared to be today. The boy that stood next to her nodded in agreement before holding up a Pokeball. "If you want to prove your worth you're gonna have to battle us in a double battle." He said, as the girl raised her Pokeball too.
It wasn't their place to judge who was strong and who were not, but it didn't appear like they were budging anytime soon. They seemed pretty adamant about it too, if Izumi wanted to get past them then she would have to agree.

Izumi had a feeling that she was going to be blocked—and was right on that count, because apparently today seemed to be a field day; since there was a small crowd gathered around the base of the long, dizzying spiral staircase… and they looked menacing; apparently several other people who had tried to go up were sent back without much luck. She’d try her luck though; and of course she was blocked; but then the girl’s companion held up his own Pokeball and then decided to issue a challenge; and she had to stop herself from smiling, because it was a Double Battle! Well, I don’t know if the two can hold up; but let’s see what would happen… she thought as she kept her own face as neutral as possible; and from the looks of things they were definitely not going to budge from where they stood.
Not even if I move them by force… she thought as she reached into her jacket pocket and then plucked two specific PokeBalls—out of her main six, she already knew which two she needed by touch (and that was saying something at the least). “Let’s give them a good show, then,” she said, raising up the two Pokeballs in her right hand; one of them had a sticker of a silhouette of an eagle and had something carved into its face; while the other had an etching of a roaring dragon’s head stylized right into the top. “Your move, if you may,” she said calmly, letting the two go first; because there was no way she was going to reveal her ‘aces in the hole’ (or so she thought; but she’d had enough tandem practice with these two anyway).

So the girl was going to accept their challenge? However, she insisted they went first. Izzy scoffed and tossed her Pokeball onto the field. "Not a problem." She said as her Pokemon appeared onto the field first. The Vaporeon mewed as it appeared onto the field. It moved itself into a sitting position as it waited for its commands, and its opponents.
Matt followed as well, tossing his own Pokeball onto the field. Released from his Pokeball from a Umbreon, who stood tall and confident as it entered the field. It let out a confident "Breeee" as it glanced at its partner. The Vaporeon was no stranger to him, they have battled many times together. The Umbreon then set his gaze on Izumi, as if it was daring her to send out her own Pokemon.
Izzy and Matt didn't seem worried. Their two Pokemon had enough experience together, and they had a lot of experience together as well. Now was the time to put that to the test. They crossed their arms and waited for Izumi to choose her own Pokemon and begin the battle.

Now that she’d allowed them to take the first move, Han watched as they sent out their own ‘mons… and she almost let out a squeal, for they were using two of the Eevee-lutions! Gah, keep calm, keep calm. You can do this… she thought to herself as she eyed the Umbreon who seemed to be staring at her; no, more like glaring—and waiting for her to make her move. Now that they were waiting for her to send her own team out, she then gave a slight bow in their direction, before pitching up her shoulders… and letting the two Pokeballs in her right hand fly, expanding in the air before they burst open and let out their occupants in two simultaneous flashes of red light. The first one formed into something that looked like an eagle; and a few moments later Sora, her Braviary, made an appearance. Seeing that it was looking at two Eevee evolutions, he looked back at his mistress; to which she gave a barely perceptible nod. The second form took much longer to coalesce, but once it did… a roar shook the area; because Riku, her Hydreigon, finally appeared out of the red light.
“Hydrei?” she heard her Dragon-type comment; before tilting its head sideways and seeing that its partner-in-crime, Sora, was beside him; then it turned its head around and looked at Izumi; and for the first time, she saw its eyes open… and she nodded in his direction as well. “Do your best,” she said to the two as she then stood her ground and then shook her shoulders back, before opening with the first move. “Sora. Go crank it up with Tailwind, and wait for further instructions. You too, Riku. Let’s see if this will work our way…” she began, and the Braviary took off from the ground, and began flapping its wings; sooner or later there was a sudden burst of wind blowing from behind Izumi; and she then knew that their Speed would be raised for a certain number of turns. She then decided to start the ball rolling by issuing the next set of orders, “Sora, let’s start the ball rolling with Air Slash… and Riku…” she dropped off, this glint in her eye as she let a single, clear note drop from her lips; because she was still intent on practicing this kind of ‘steering’ since Riku had been trained this particular way.
Once the cross-shaped blades of air went sailing toward the two; the Hydreigon opened its maw… and then a ball of draconic energy gathered in its maw; before shooting out of it, closely following the Air Slash attack. If the first one didn’t hit, then the second one would… and she knew as well that Vaporeon would be dangerous, since it could learn some Ice-type attacks! She watched as the Air Slash took on this humming, purplish hue; a sign that the combination attack had strung together and it was now headed over to the two Eevee-lutions. How would they react to the opening move? After this attack had been launched, she let another few notes drop from her side; clear enough so that the Hydreigon heard them; and then it went flying first to the side, out of the view of the two Eevee-lutions, and then straight forward; throwing its entire body weight into this attack that was directed at the Vaporeon!
Braviary: Used Tailwind first to raise team’s Speed; followed up with Air Slash
Hydreigon: Used Dragon Breath; then flies off to one side and charges forward with a Body Slam attack, aimed at the Vaporeon (Paralysis chance of Body slam: roll failed!)

Ace Trainer Duo Izzy and Matt
Izumi had started off the battle by calling forth two very large Pokemon. The Hydregion and Braviary didn't seem to intimidate her opponents though. Instead, the two Eeveelutions on the ground rose and readied themselves for the battle. The Braviary had began a strong wind that blew from behind the two Pokemon, causing them to have increased movement speed and flight. The Braviary moved first, slicing a Air Slash towards the Vaporeon. The Water type quickly moved out of the way and skidded to the side, watching her partner carefully as the attacks came in.
The Umbreon prepared himself. The Dragonbreath came through and he jumped out of the way, allowing the move to light the floor behind him. Izzy's eyes shot up and saw the Hydregion come in quickly with the Body Slam towards her Vaporeon, by passing the Umbreon in its wake. However, that gave her a wonderful opportunity. "Matt, help me out. Vaproeon, Ice Beam as he hits!" She called out. Matt nodded and looked towards his Umbreon. "You know what to do!" He called out.
The Umbreon nodded and his eyes glowed blue. He called out to his battling partner and clapped his paws together. "Umbreee!" The Vaporeon glowed in in the same light as the Umbreon's eyes, its attack had raised as it braced itself for the impact. The Hydregion slammed into it, causing the Vaporeon to skid back. However, at this close of range... The Vaporeon opened her mouth and shot off a Ice Beam at point blank range. With the Hydreigon so close to her, it was the perfect chance to strike back. Especially with the Umbreon's Helping Hand.

That ominous blast of frigid energy was always bad news; she knew that Dragons had a type disadvantage to Ice-type attacks as of the moment; and since the attack was at point-blank range, she couldn’t do anything but stare at the scene in horror as the powerful attack caught the Hydreigon in its full intensity! The next few seconds were like something out of a horror film; due to the sheer power of the apparently powered-up Ice-type attack hitting a Dragon, and we all know that Dragons have a glaring weakness to ice-type attacks (and ice-type ‘mons in extension; that and Fairy were just the pure terror of the Dragon-types now, asides from its own power rebounding on itself) the Hydreigon vanished behind a cloud of smoke—and a few moments later; there was a frozen spear of ice standing right where her Hydreigon was hovering a few moments ago. “Oh no. No, not like this…” she said, feeling the terror rising up inside her as her best attacker was now caught in a very sticky situation. “Crap. Crap, crap, crap, crap…” she started muttering to herself, raising her hands and then biting her fingernails—a habit she hadn’t resorted to in years.
How am I going to bust him out?! She thought in a panic as Riku’s partner, the Braviary she fondly called Sora, squawked out of shock to see that its partner-in-crime was now stuck in a frozen barrier. Shit. If one of them falls I’m going to lose! I’m going to have to either forge on or freaking forfeit… but I can’t forfeit… not now… she thought as she felt the anger rising up inside her; only to be replaced with a stony-faced look as the Braviary hovered near her; waiting for instructions. “Sora. You’re going to have to wing this on your own for now. Question is; can you do it?” she asked the hovering Braviary; to which it gave a barely-audible squawk; before looking across the battlefield; she knew that they were in a bit of a fix at the moment.
Wait a second, what if I do… she thought, suddenly whistling a different set of notes, this one was meant for the Valiant ‘mon, and it fluttered in as close as it could manage towards Izumi, while still keeping a wary eye on the Umbreon. “Go do ‘that’ attack on my signal, okay?” she said with a mischievous glint, and the Braviary gave a barely perceptible nod of its head. At the sound of the next chain of sharp-ended notes, the Braviary flew forward, its body crackling with an eerie energy as it headed—towards the Umbreon! She knew that the U-Turn attack was of the Bug-type, and then watched as the hurtling ball of energy that was her Braviary head in for a crashing attack on the Umbreon, and hoped for the best…

Ace Trainer Duo Izzy and Matt
The move had hit! The Hydreigon was frozen solid, as if it was an ice sculpture than a Pokemon. This gave Izzy and Matt's Pokemon a perfect to bring down one Pokemon already. However, the Braviary was on an assault. The Flying type took to the air and made a mad dash towards Matt's Umbreon. With the Tailwind behind him, there was nothing that his Umbreon could do. However, the Dark type growled in a low tone of voice as his eyes glowed. Tagging the Braviary's U-Turn with Spite's to prevent it from being used. That was the best the Umbreon could manage before he was slammed into by the Flying type.
He jumped back from the impact, shaking his head from the shock. Thankfully, he was a decently tanky Pokemon. The Umbreon glanced over at its partner as his eyes glowed blue this time, helping out his fellow team mate as he stared down the Braviary and Hydreigon. With the Dragon type completely frozen, it would only be a matter of time before it fell to the Vaporeon.
Izzy smirked proudly. With the Hydreigon frozen, there was only one more thing to do. "Vaporeon, finish it off, but heal yourself first." Izzy said as she glanced over at Matt. The other Ace Trainer nnodded proudly and the two shifted their gaze back to the Vaporeon. The Water type had summoned three rings that hovered around it, healing her bit by bit each turn. With a content sigh, the Vaporeon would release another Ice Beam towards the frozen Hydreigon. The type differences, as well as the Helping Hand in place, would surely mean the end of the Dragon type. Unless the Braviary dared to get in the way of an Ice Beam. If that was the case, then Izzy and Matt were fine with that. The type difference was still there and no matter what one Pokemon would suffer a harsh blow.

As she was watching from the sidelines, she was relieved to have the U-Turn attack hit; but then something else happened; why did her Braviary suddenly get enveloped in a field of dark, ominous energy—that seemed to have no adverse after-effects? Wondering if it was just a mistake, she then let the same sharp tune of notes drop; hopefully Sora could hear it from this distance—however, all she got was a look of surprise and bewilderment from her Braviary. “Wait. What? What do you mean you can’t use it?!” she shouted a few moments later as the Braviary shook its head and gave her a bewildered look, surprised at the fact that it could no longer use U-Turn; at least for the moment. Damn it! Seriously?! This is going to hurt my chances so ba—she thought as something suddenly surrounded the Vaporeon; what was going on?! it was hard to tell from this distance, so she had to resort to actually squinting in order to be able to see what was going on.
She knew that there were some scratches and “battle marks” on the Vaporeon, but as of the moment, what her eyes could make out was the fact that these “scars of battle” (or signs of damage) were actually… fading away?! What the hell?! Seriously?! you have got to be kidding… she thought out of rage as the Vaporeon suddenly took a few steps back and then released another beam of frozen… “SORA! GET MOVING!” she screamed from her side of the area, watching as another Ice Beam erupted from the Vaporeon’s mouth. Her Braviary didn’t need telling twice, it could see perfectly fine what was about to happen! Instead of actually trying to take advantage of the fact that the two Eevee-lutions were busy doing something else, her Braviary did this strangest thing—instead of attacking the Umbreon, it flew straight up; then came diving down from the altitude it had soared to; fully intending to shield the Hydreigon from the potential knock-out attack. “BRAVIARY!” she heard Sora screech, and for that moment the Valiant ‘mon really did show its intent to protect its partner-in-crime, who had now been frozen and was just… doing nothing there, since the Hydreigon couldn’t break out of the thrall of its current state.
Instead of the Ice Beam attack hitting the Hydreigon, the Braviary had taken the fall; since it was also a Flying-type, it was also weak to ice, and another show of smoke appeared—before it vanished; revealing a second statue of frozen ice that now had an eagle frozen, its wings outstretched, as if to protect the other ‘mon behind it from certain harm. “Ugh…” Izumi groaned, seeing that not just one, but two frozen statues now stood where her ‘mons were last positioned. “Utterly and totally destroyed…” she continued with another groan, as she then plucked out their Pokeballs and then made the move to recall them. “Seeing as this is all over, I… I accept my defeat,” she said, unable to hold back the emotion in her voice for a few moments, before letting her frustration out with a few tears she shed. “Guess I’m not yet ready to take this for myself…” she continued as she popped the two Pokeballs to full-size and recalled the two shell-shocked statues. “You win,” she said to the two Trainers as the red beams swallowed up the two ‘mons and made them disappear from the battlefield.
