T
he contest had ended a few days ago, with promises that the results would be posted as soon as possible. Jason took these few days of leisure to go and make use of the hotel's gym. It was a pretty good gym too, with a yoga room, personal instructors available, and plenty of work out equipment. His hours spent at the gym, however, were cut short on the third day after the contest had closed when his PokeNav dinged, alerting him of an email. Jason wiped the sweat from his brow and took a look at the email. It was from the judges! He scanned it over, and soon enough he found out he had won... Nothing. First place had gone to the pink girl, second place to Hemlock, and third to some girl whose name he couldn't even remember. They did, however, enjoy his performance enough to give him honorable mention. Jason sighed, and pocketed his PokeNav before getting back to pumping iron. As he worked out, thoughts about what to do next swirled around his head. He could make an attempt for the Gym, tour the city, or even work on some new ideas for the next contest. "Or..", he thought as a man walked past him, talking of the bar at the hotel, "... I could take a visit to the bar." Jason finished his workout and made his way back to his room, to shower and spruce up.
Hours passed at the bar, and Jason barely noticed. The drinks in Orre were good. Strong, but not too strong to put someone off. The whiskey was what he found drinking the majority of the time, usually mixed with a Coke. As the dead time of 3 o' clock in the morning approached, the bartender took notice of the blond drunk talking to his drink and promptly kicked him out. Jason yelled, but his bark was far worse than his bite in his drunken state. Clumsily walking to his room, and having to take a few tries at swiping his key card to open the door, Jason fell into his bed.
Nine hours later, and the sun was shining through his window, making it unbearably bright for the hungover blond. He threw a few pillows at the window, missing, and finally got up. Jason closed the blinds, once again putting his room in darkness... Save for the flashing light of his PokeNav. Jason groaned, and went over to check it. After nearly being blinded by the light, he realized that he had a voicemail. Jason pressed the play button and began making some coffee, black, to help with the hangover. The voicemail began with, "Sir Jason..." Jason nearly dropped the glass coffee pot. It was Will! His Will! The rest of the message stated that Will would be coming to Tufa and proposed a meeting at a restaurant, a fancy restaurant at that. Gleefully grinning, Jason sipped at his coffee, hoping the pounding headache would disappear.
After the coffee, cold shower, massage, and a hot shower Jason prepped himself for his date. Several hours had passed during that time, and it was nearly sunset. His head still hurt, but it wasn't nearly as bad as the morning. "Hopefully the restaurant won't be too loud..", Jason thought as he shaved. Splashing his face with water, and then some aftershave, Jason went to his freshly pressed clothes. A nice black dress shirt, dark blue/navy tie, with a black suit coat and matching slacks. Looking into the mirror, Jason grinned at what he saw. "Sexy as always." he said aloud, winking at his reflection. All that was left now was to find the restaurant Will had spoken of.
The waiter looked at him, looked him over, gave him a quizzical look, but nodded nonetheless and went off to get the man’s drink. Seriously, he didn’t understand why the manager had gotten so white-faced when he saw that this Rosenbach guy was coming. He had heard the guy’s family, and by extension, he was extremely, filthy rich, but outside of the finest outfit, he didn’t behave like the rest of the snoot-nosed socialites that attempted to seem more annoying than they normally were. No wine, no complaining of the décor, nothing – and he seemed to have Poke Balls. Nonetheless, he seemed like a kind man, so the waiter brought him the fizzy Coke and, after the man assured him that he would call when his friend arrived (yeah, right, friend, as if he would believe that), he left.
William was a bit excited, not only for meeting Sir Jason, but for the whole of the trip. He had never been to Orre, and honestly, he did not plan to visit it for a while, but it was a necessity. Sir Jason was here, and thus he would follow – he felt bad for having to leave for a while after their short trip, but hopefully, they could resume. It was a necessary evil – he first had to sail back to his home region for some family problems, and then Hoenn, and then to Orre. He would need to sail back to Hoenn afterwards, and maybe give Ba’ul a good rest. The Float Whale Pokemon had gotten him everywhere diligently, and while the others had their swims too, maybe Serpentide would enjoy giving him a ride. Ah, but the prospect of meeting an old friend. What delightful feelings! Sir Jason had been demonstrating himself as an able Trainer, and furthermore, a Coordinator. Perhaps the Golden Knight could brush off the dust of his Master Coordinator titles to give him some lessons – goodness knows he missed the stage.
The Golden Knight was dressed in his classic, signature style for fine events: it was what he wore to judge Contests, what he performed in, and what he used now. Known lovingly as the Golden Tuxedo, it was made of the finest cloths – his parents had half-forced him to take this token from them. He always hated having money spent on him (money spent on others was a different matter altogether), but this was an exception. The black suit and pants were fine and well-made to his size, though over time, they had accommodated a bit to his muscles and bulge. Black shoes, shiny, well-polished, and a white shirt with a gold tie. The thing that made the outfit special was the addition of gold thread, lining wherever a normal thread would go, marking the linings and essentially making it very, well, William.
He hoped Sir Jason would like the place – the Golden Knight had heard many a good thing from his parents and friends. And the tab was already covered. Shamed as he might be to say it, William could easily buy the place if he so needed to, but it was an unnecessary truth. All he needed was to pay for the food.

The handsome blond in the nice looking outfit cleaned up nice, impressing the bartender who had kicked him out earlier that day. Jason wouldn't have even bothered to go back to the bar, but he didn't know the area very well and he wanted to get to the restaurant at a decent time. The bartender, knowledgeable on the local hot spots, was able to easily identify the restaurant Jason told him about, claiming it was one of the pricier places in the area. Jason smiled at that, knowing money wasn't an issue for Will. After some more small talk, the bartender told Jason how to get to the restaurant, after which Jason thanked him and left the hotel's bar and entered the streets of Tufa.
It was horrible. The sun was beating down on the blond's eyes, making his somewhat tolerable headache even worse. Jason quickly hurried back into the hotel and stopped by the gift store, buying some sunglasses. Well, it wasn't very quick because Jason had to make sure they were quality and matched what he was wearing, so after twenty minutes, he left the hotel for a second time. Walking down the streets with as much swagger as possible for a hungover man, Jason reached the restaurant in about ten minutes. The outside was beautifully decorated, with a fountain spewing water from a Seadra's snout, and exotic flora lining the entrance way. When he approached the doors, a host asked if he needed valet parking, which Jason shook his head, saying, "I walked." Not to his surprise, he heard some snickers from some people behind him. Ignoring them, Jason continued, "I'm meeting a friend. I think he reserved us a table.. Perhaps under Rosenbach?" The snickers and comments stopped at the mention of the name, putting a little oomph in his step. "Sir Jason?" The host asked with a cocked eyebrow, and after a confirmation nod from Jason, he began to lead the way. "That's right bitches, I'm here because that hotty over there invited me. And he's rich. And nice. And hot. And sweet. And mine.", Jason thought as he walked behind the host, feeling the glares of envy from those who had just been making fun of him.
"Here you are, sir." The host said, stepping out of the way to reveal the table and Will. "Damn." Jason thought. His golden knight looked incredible, even more so than usual. His clothing was, of course, gold, but not as much as usual. The black suit and pants looked great on him, his muscles clearly defined beneath the expensive looking fabric, while the white shirt beneath the jacket had gold lining and a gold tie to tieI'm a horrible person for that pun it all together. Jason couldn't stop the stupid smile that came to his face when he saw Will, allowing the host to pull his chair back for him. Sitting down, Jason opened his mouth to say something, but no words would come out. He quickly coughed a bit to make it seem like his throat was dry, and said, "You look great, Will. More so than usual, that is." Again, a smile that reached his eyes popped on his face as he looked into Will's beautiful gold eyes. The infatuated Jason didn't even hear the waiter ask what he wanted to drink.
It didn’t take long for Sir Jason to arrive – William had only drunk about 2 more glasses of Coke. He had always been a quick drinker when it came to waiting for something, people or food. He never drank alcohol – not only was he not legal yet (though with his family, that really didn’t matter), but he never found any joy in inebriation. It seemed, to him, an unnecessary step in having good times with one’s friends. And that was something he never needed any preparation or catalyst to do. The waiter escorted Sir Jason to the table, pulling the chair for him. A wide smile splashed on the Golden Knight’s face, William’s golden eyes twinkling in joy.
The Golden Knight looked over him, quickly assessing his friend’s status. He seemed well-dressed, although he didn’t understand why the sunglasses – it wasn’t that sunny. Then again, the Golden Knight wasn’t that hurt by bright, shiny things. A soft chuckle escaped William as Jason sat down – perhaps he knew not what to say? It was common courtesy to allow the other person the first word. But what William saw was his old friend, as playful and blunt as always. The waiter asked what he would like to drink, and when Jason didn’t answer, he just went off to serve the other tables, promising a swift return.
"You look great, Will. More so than usual, that is."
”And you look well enough, too, Sir Jason – I must say, it is a sweet delight to once again meet with you. How fare you, friend, how fare you? And, more importantly, what would you like to drink?” Asked the Golden Knight, the smile in his voice obvious. The waiter had returned, now waiting patiently. Friend, yeah right – this new kid was staring at Rosenbachboy with fawning eyes, and even the sunglasses didn’t hide that. Though, it seemed, the rich one didn’t notice (could people be that dense?).
”And, more importantly, what would you like to eat?” Added William, pointing to the menu placed elegantly in front of Jason. ”I was thinking about the Giro D’Italia, with everything, if you could. He mentioned, to the waiter, who quickly wrote it down and looked towards Jason, expectant.

It wasn't until after the waiter wandered off that Jason realized he had been asking him what he wanted to drink. Not that Jason cared too much, all his attention was on Will. Like his smile. It had been quite a while since the blond trainer had a chance to see Will and one of the things he missed the most was his smile. It was one of those kind and sweet smiles that made you feel like you were the most important person in the world. That nothing bad and wrong could happen to you and everything would be ok so long as his smile was there. And then there were his eyes, this disk of gold were warm to all they passed over, not caring what you looked like or who you were. Jason was thinking about Will so much, he barely heard him when he said, ”And you look well enough, too, Sir Jason – I must say, it is a sweet delight to once again meet with you. How fare you, friend, how fare you? And, more importantly, what would you like to drink?”
Jason blushed, his face turning a shade or two pinker. Will was just.. So nice. And the way he handled his words was all it took to melt Jason's heart. "Thanks, Will. It's so great to see you again, I've missed you a lot." He said, not caring how stupid it sounded. Jason should have been used to being alone, he had gone months, even a year, without seeing his parents, but with Will it was different. His heart ached when he wasn't around and it was like there was a longing that couldn't be diminished by anything but him. But Jason continued talking, informing Will of what he had done since their last time together. "Well, I beat Roxanne back in Rustboro. It was a great confidence booster, and learning experience, for me and my pokemon, so I'm glad I did it. Then I went out to the Safari Zone, have you been there?, and I caught two pokemon, starters at that! Elsa, my Piplup, and Alto, my Cindaquil. Alto is very talented and musically inclined, so I used them two in the contest that I entered.." Jason trailed off at the end and said, desperately trying to stop the red that he knew was creeping up his face, "... and I used you for my muse for the contest. Anyway, I didn't place, but got honorable mention." He then turned to the waiter and said, "I'll have a glass of water, thanks."
Will must have been hungry because he asked, "What would you like to eat?" Then told the waited, "I was thinking about the Giro D’Italia, with everything, if you could." Who quickly wrote it down and looked to Jason, wanting an answer. Glancing down at the menu, Jason saw something he got at other places, and said, "I'll take some angel hair alfredo, go easy on the parmesan."
It was easy, almost natural, to be with Sir Jason again, eating a place that William would normally not venture into without necessity. It was like breathing - something he didn't think about. Something about Sir Jason just seemed so nice, it was a wonderful feeling. It was something the Golden Knight pinpointed on his closest friendships - something that drew him. in. It was strange, too: William had only known Jason for a bit, not too long, and yet he felt like the experiences they had shared had been many. Little bits of their adventure in the Pinwheel Forest flashed back often.
William took a nice draft from his glass, emptying it, as Jason told his story. The burn of the soda going down his throat was a familiar feeling, something William loved. Truth be told, outside of his normal physical activity, he was a big eater, and soda was always a part of his meals, sometimes even in the morning. But William still put down his glass when Jason mentioned the bits about the Contest. His smile turned a bit more thoughtful, considerate, as he ran thoughts in his head. Knowing Sir Jason's style, it was probably quite the show. A bit of William now regretted not showing up.
Only a feeling of joy for his friend was in William when the Golden Knight replied.
"Sir Jason, my most sincere congratulations upon your victory in the Gym, and the honor of a near-victory in the Contest. I do remember my first Contest, so long ago, and I did not even get a fraction of a win - but I assure you, this will only propel you forth into much success. I know within you are the makings of a great Trainer and amazing Coordinator, and I will do everything in my power, as an Ex-Master, to bring those out. I am flattered and honored to be inspiration for your performance - my friends and closest companions too were a source of inspiration for me."
The plates were still being made, and yet William was on his 4th glass of Coke. The waiter wondered if this guy had a soda-drinking problem (if that was even a thing), but knocked it off. The refills weren't free, and this guy would pay up.
"And how coincidential - I too plan to challenge Roxanne soon! Perhaps I shall fare the same?" Added the Golden Knight with a smirk - he really wasn't worried about the Gym Challenge, even if that was a little rash. He would think about then. Right now, what mattered was Sir Jason.

The waiter took their orders and left, eyeing Will suspiciously when he ordered another drink. Not alcoholic of course, just a coke, so Jason didn't understand why the waiter kept giving him weird looks. In fact, as long as Jason had known Will, he couldn't recall a single time that he had ever seen him drink. Maybe he could get him to go clubbing with him some time, or, Jason thought with a smile, just enjoy a bottle of campaign together. Either way, it didn't matter that much at the moment because all of his attention needed to be given to Will.
Jason was glad that he was with Will and listened with a smile on his face as Will said, "Sir Jason, my most sincere congratulations upon your victory in the Gym, and the honor of a near-victory in the Contest. I do remember my first Contest, so long ago, and I did not even get a fraction of a win - but I assure you, this will only propel you forth into much success. I know within you are the makings of a great Trainer and amazing Coordinator, and I will do everything in my power, as an Ex-Master, to bring those out. I am flattered and honored to be inspiration for your performance - my friends and closest companions too were a source of inspiration for me." The blond trainer could feel his cheeks flare up from the compliments that the Golden Knight spewed out. It was such a good change to have someone there to compliment you. Taking a chance, and hoping Will would get the point, Jason commented, "Well who else would I have used for inspiration? The theme was love, after all." His heart was pounding so hard, he didn't even catch what Will said at the end.
The Golden Knight was delighted to be with his friend once again, sharing stories of travel and such, but there was something that was bothering him. Sir Jason looked a little… well, red in the cheeks. Almost tired, as if he was suffering from something. He couldn’t exactly tell, due to the sunglasses preventing the Golden Knight from seeing his friend’s eyes, but William thought that perhaps Sir Jason was running a fever? It would explain the flustered sense of being, and the redness. It was unacceptable: William could not allow his friend to depreciate his health while he stood there. It was fine if the Golden Knight did it, but if another friend did it – impermissible. It might seem a little two-faced, even hypocritical of William to think that way, but for the Golden Knight, nothing mattered more than his friends, and that included their well-being.
"Well, who else would I have used for inspiration? The theme was love, after all.”
Well, William was happy that Sir Jason felt such care for his friends too (or maybe just him – not the point), but it was no excuse to put himself at such risk. Well, at least, if he was sick. William had a bad habit of making assumptions, so perhaps it would be best to ask first.
”Sir Jason, I too love my friends dearly, and am honored to be a source of inspiration towards you. Though I must ask: are you well? Health-wise, I mean. You seem like you might be running a fever.” Just as he asked, the Golden Knight saw the waiter coming, two plates of steaming food in the serving dish. Good, food – if he was sick, food would be a wonderful way to help him recover his health. William smiled, now politely, but his eyes showed concern.
NOTES
If Jason wants Will to get it, he literally has to say something along the lines of "I love you romantically and am attracted to you physically."

The love struck blond couldn't go back now, not after what he had said. Hopefully Will would understand what he said, or at least comprehend what he meant by that. Jason assumed he did, what with how he was looking at him. His eyes were filled with.. Concern? Not exactly what he was looking for. Why would he be concerned for Jason? Did he not feel the same way and stupid hunk was just too nice to say anything because he was concerned for his feelings? He took a gulp, not sure what was going to come next.
Finally, the big hunk spoke. "Sir Jason, I too love my friends dearly, and am honored to be a source of inspiration towards you." The golden knight said, as nice as ever. Jason's heart skipped a beat. He could feel his face flush and then go white, his usually tan skin looking pale. Friends. That's all he thought they were. Just. Friends. Heartbroken and barely able to contain his emotions, he heard Will say, "Though I must ask: are you well? Health-wise, I mean. You seem like you might be running a fever." Just as he was about to open his mouth, his eyes already watery, the waiter showed up with two steaming piles of food. Will smiled at the waiter, polite as ever, but looked back to Jason, who was just looking down at the plate of food in front of him. Choking on his emotions, Jason attempted to speak, "F-f-for fuck's sake." He managed. Jason wiped at the tears falling down his face with his left hand, pulling the sunglasses off with his right, revealing the dark circles underneath them. It was too much, all of it. First he had performed on stage, embarrassing himself, because he was too upset with Will not being there. Now? Now he had just basically told the guy that he liked, apparently loved, how he felt and he friend zoned him. He, Jason Royde, the sex master, the one nighter, the guy girl's parents hate, was being friend zoned.
His hands shaking, he dropped the glasses onto the table, and looked over at Will with his tear filled eyes. "Don't you fucking understand?!" Jason asked, his voice raising as his emotions did. It was impossible in the young man's mind to not even get the smallest hit at how he had felt. "The contest was in February. Do you know what holiday is in February?" He asked, his voice shaky. Not giving the golden knight a chance to respond, Jason answered his own question, saying, "Fucking Valentine's Day. The day of lov- Romance, actually." He had caught himself, since love didn't mean anything to the golden dingus. Taking a deep breath, not particularly caring about the tears that were falling down his face anymore, Jason was able to calm the storm that was his shaky voice just enough to get three words out. "I love you." It dawned on him that he would have to make it more obvious for the man as dense as gold. The blond then slammed his hands on the table, saying, "Love, as in I want to cuddle with you on a rainy day." He leaned over the table, knocking over the glass of water he had ordered, face to face with Will, and added, "And love as in I want to kiss you." His brilliant blue eyes were reflected in the golden knight's eyes. It was funny, the situation they were in. Their relationship began with the eyes and now it might be going to the next level, or ending, with the eyes.
