Now that she’d gotten off to a good start, Izumi took out the calling card of Atlas Teleportation Services and gave it another good look, before quickly digging in around her pockets and extracting her mobile phone, one that hadn’t seen the light of day in some time. Hoping that it still had enough power, she quickly looked for the “On” switch and pressed it, watching as the screen flickered to life and displayed her phone’s usual “desktop” background image—a picture of her and Momo together, looking like total fools at the camera. Grininng, she quickly accessed the number pad and added Claire’s contact details to her phone directory, while her steps took her further and further away from the café where she’d had a very interesting day—and soon after, she found herself standing in front of the Pewter Museum of Science.
She knew that she was hot on the tail of information about Team Rocket—as Bunji had told her some time ago, while they were still traveling to the Kanto region—and now she wanted to get to the bottom of what the Team had been up to. She was faintly aware that they had disbanded, but the times were different and they were now apparently gathering under a new banner, a new leader, a new everything basically—because Bunji had been an ex-Rocket himself. She then shook her head out of annoyance, before redirecting her footsteps towards the door—and after turning some money over for the entrance fee, she then walked inside, looking and staring at all the different fossils on display. So they tried to steal this stuff from before? What are they, crazy? She thought, looking and seeing that there were some skeletons hanging from the ceiling—and a narrow staircase led to a second floor.
She then directed her path towards the stairs, and in moments, was at the area where all local and foreign news were archived. After looking over some older magazines, she then began thumbing through old newspaper articles that had been apparently “saved” and “archived” in a different manner, stopping to read some texts every three minutes or so. Looking for their former trail of glory is easy, but what about now… she thought, examining the oldest article involving the museum—it was one for the books, as it showed that Team Rocket had seemingly infiltrated the Pewter Museum sometime ago and had made off with some rare displays… “Tsk,” she hissed, snapping the hardbound shut and then scouring the bookshelves for other references to look at.
Team Rocket, the vile crime syndicate that they were...no matter where he went, their stench was always so overpowering, so brutal, and here in Pewter City it was no different. He of course had sensed their work upon entry to the city, though his first suspicion had merely been a miscommunication - one that, fate be blessed, had brought him into a group of similar-minded men and women who sought to end the violence, the crime, and most interestingly to bring to light yet another organization working from the shadows. It was a noble cause, though Kaname would be the first to admit that his main purpose in joining their legion was to use their resources to aid in his quest to end Team Rocket. They would not simply be stopped....he would end their tyrannical reign, tearing them down from the bottom up. The very thought that the Rockets were still out there, still causing chaos wherever they went, only further angered the albino. Not even his latest feat, aiding a few strangers in protecting the wellbeing of the public could wash away that anger.
Lost in his thoughts of righteous bloodlust, Kaname almost missed the pass of something else he found familiar. But as his head snapped up, red eyes scouring his surroundings for what had moved, there she was - the...well, he did not know hr by name. He knew her though, certainly; he had seen her at least once before, in Saffron city. She had a mysterious air about her, a look of determination and alertness. Even now she had that look, seemingly suspicious of....something, as she approached the museum of Pewter City.
Curiosity was not something Kaname often succumbed to, but here he was, presented with someone who, just as that first time he saw her, managed to tap into that sheltered, hidden-away need to sate his wonder. Kaname frowned. Team Rocket, he knew, was not going anywhere...for now, he could spend a few moments on this...minor investigation. Just who was this girl? Why did she strike such a sense of familiarity in him? What was her goal?
Quietly pushing open the doors to the museum, Kaname paid the man at the entrance the required fee, and strode over towards the displays. For now, he would give the appearance that he was here for his own personal interest....but every once in a while, his eyes flicked over towards the books, or more specifically, the resident museumgoer who was currently reading over there. He would learn her secrets in due course.

She then returned the hardbound that she’d taken from the shelf back to where it had come from, and was now looking around ever-so-cautiously, simply because she could never be too careful—there may be someone trailing her. Little did she realize that her suspicions would come to pass—but for now, she was just content, looking through bookshelves for any scrap or shred of information that stuck out to her eyes. She was fully aware of the activities and actions of Teams Magma and Aqua—they were native to her Hoenn region—and knew what kind of hell they’d attempted to raise, before they were finally put into place and eventually disbanded and abolished. But the information she’d picked up from Bunji about Team Rocket being active again—albeit under a different banner—was disturbing.
It’s all the more disturbing to find out that your own ex was a member of that team… wait a second, why am I calling him my ex?! But we were… well, maybe there was a time when we were younger and none the wiser… she thought, quashing those thoughts as her finger trailed amongst the bookshelves—until she saw another one that may have looked interesting. Quickly plucking it from the shelf, she leaned against it, and let the book fall open in her hands. Her eyes quickly raked the Table of Contents, before quickly riffling through the contents—she’d found a book containing the history of Viridian City—and her eyes came to a stop as she read about the particular chapter that contained the Viridian City Gym’s history… and saw a name that stuck out amongst the text. “Giovanni…” she muttered to herself—quickly looking around to see if she was being followed—and she thought she saw someone familiar to her—it wasn’t Leon or anything—and then turned her attention back to the book, reading the entire text passage about it.
Apparently, people tend to update history books pretty quickly. I wonder why that is… she thought, stumbling across a few more words that rang out to her; words such as “Silph Co.”, “Lavender Town”, ad quite amusingly, “Celadon City”. She knew that most of these places were either a hop, skip, and jump away from Saffron City (or located within it)—and knew that she had more information to go on. She then noted that “Cerulean City” was part of the search scope, and she just wanted to get to the bottom of things—what really made people work for such a twisted organization. And look what it did to you, Bunji… it twisted you beyond recognition… she thought with a bitter sigh, quickly tucking the book underneath her arms as she quickly strode out of the bookshelves and then headed over to where the most recent copies of newspapers were stored, and again she saw that same figure… something was definitely familiar about him, but she could not place who it was—then she realized that she’d seen him before, back in Saffron City.
Wonder what he’s doing here... she thought as she looked around furtively before reaching for a stack of newspapers and bringing them along as well, and finding a vacant table to study all the information that she was about to discover…
Moments, painstaking moments of silence pealed in his mind, turning even the sound of the clock into a thunderous noise by comparison. Kaname had at this point picked up a book for himself, so as to pear a bit more covert. He skimmed the words, flipped the pages...but it was not of great interest to him, or at least, he simply was not paying it enough mind to take any interest. It was not the fault of the book, of course - on an ordinary day he might have sat down to read it. Right now, however, he had another goal. And it seemed that despite his attempt to remain unnoticed - or at least, not suspicious - the woman of his current interest did seem to be aware of him. He had to change locations twice to keep up the suspension of disbelief - to keep her thinking that he really was here for his own purposes.
The silence was so thick, so heavy.....at least, until she spoke. It was quiet, but in the absolute dead quiet, the word came clearly to his ears. The word.....no, the name...sent him spinning into a whirlpool of questions. What does she know of Giovanni? Is he merely a gym leader to her, or does she know more? What is her relationship to Team Rocket? Is she researching them? ...So many questions, and all Kaname could do was try his hardest not to let that surprise show. But, it seemed, he had found out at least part of what he came for. The book she was reading...quite clearly it held mention of Giovanni. She was, then, probably looking at either the history of Viridian, or simply a record of information regarding the gym itself. Either way, the tone of her voice when she spoke his name had been one of displeasure.
If she was displeased at the name of the former leader of the Rockets, there was at least a bit of common ground. Also, the fact that she was acting so suspicious, looking around all the time...that too gave hints of her current endeavours. If she was merely reading a book, she would be relaxed and enthralled, and possibly would not even notice him. But she kept looking up as though she worried that someone might find out what she was doing. That was a definite indicator that she was not merely reading a book, but most likely conducting some sort of investigation. As to what its nature was...it she wouldn't have acted so suspicious if she was merely researching Viridian or its gym. No...more likely, she was investigating Giovanni himself - or, possibly, Team Rocket. With that thought in mind - and the fact that he recognized her - he moved, slowly, towards her.
He didn't wish to appear as a threat; after all, if he was investigating Team Rocket, there was a good chance she feared that they might catch on and send someone for her. That was not the case. The albino kept his eyes focused on her as he made his deliberate approach, finally stopping a foot or so away. What did he say, though? What should he say to a stranger like this? It wasn't normally his style, to talk to a person he didn't know...but if he could find someone with a common goal, he would certainly not pass up the opportunity to understand their motives and, possibly, combine resources. And as a member of a growing team, he could easily recruit her in with the rest of them - assuming her motive was pure, of course. Kaname dipped his head in a small nodding bow before he finally found the words to say.
"I overheard you a moment ago. The man whose name you spoke...what is your relationship to him?" His voice was hushed, so as not to alert the two men at the entrance of their current conversation. He had been a bit more indirect than he would have liked, but speaking Giovanni's name, even quietly, would certainly not go unheard; it was a name that seemed to carry on the tiniest whispers to the ears of all. Still, he had made his point - he needed to know what she was after. How she would respond would determine his actions from there. He could either welcome her as an ally, leave her in neutrality, or....if it turned out she was in fact with Team Rocket as an undercover agent, battle could very well be necessary.

She had gotten so swept up in reading, she didn’t notice that the person whom she thought seemed to be familiar was already approaching her—and then called her attention, albeit in a very “hush-hush” manner. Looking up very carefully from the miniature notepad that she’d taken out (where she was scribbling notes as well) she then looked around as well, before replying in the same hushed tone, “Well, I have no relation to him. It’s just that I am looking into things that involve him and Team Rocket… and what I’ve found so far is pretty much old news,” while gesturing to the open books and newspapers in front of her. They were some of the old, pre-dated ones that held information and articles about the most recent “past”; yet they did not have anything useful. “I just find it astounding how they were able to operate in secret for so long,” she added, gesturing towards the small list of notes she’d made so far. It consisted of all the place names and locales within Kanto that had been touched by the Rocket influence, and she was just about to go to the Johto section of the library to look up more information.
“I’ve come across more information that they have revived recently, and are operating under a different leader,” she continued, sharing what little information she knew (that she’d gotten from a certain red-haired individual), before gathering her thoughts. “I’m trying to look further into anything that can lead to them, but so far, it is not proving easy—as I’m about to uncover the series of escapades the Rockets have done over in neighboring Johto,” she added, evidently backtracking and trying to trace the trail from there. She then got just a bit suspicious, before asking in that same hushed tone, “How about you, what is your interest in him… and the team he represents?” while still looking around, if in case there were other individuals listening in. There is no way in hell I am leaving him alone… because a loose cannon is certainly more dangerous than one that has not yet been fired… she thought in the back of her mind as well.
Her words were so open and direct, it was almost alarming. He had expected, perhaps, a slightly more tactful response - for one seeming to want a low profile, she had little issue divulging information. That meant either that she seemed to trust him enough to speak openly - a truly naive and foolish thought - or she was with Team Rocket. And while the latter seemed so temptingly true, a part of Kaname was cautious uncertain. He couldn't believe it - not even a member of Team Rocket would put forth that amount of information just to catch someone off-guard. Kaname could simply turn and run and there would be nothing she could do about it - well mostly, though a battle was a possible outcome. Regardless...it simply didn't seem like a sound strategy for a supposed member of the infamous Rocket group, known to be able to keep their secrecy so well - as she herself even stated.
That didn't mean he trusted her, however. He looked over at the information she indicated, drinking in her words before formulating his response. "My interest is likened to yours, if you speak the truth. They have wronged me in the past, in a despicable way. I desire vengeance against them - against him." He spoke boldly, unafraid of what his words might spark. Recently he had come to be a better battler, with greater understanding of his Pokemon and their abilities, their needs, their hearts and feelings. Should she truly be with Team Rocket and a battle was to begin, he was confident in his abilities as a trainer. He would be able to defeat her. Still, he dared not mention his current affiliation just yet; if she was a better member of the Rocket crew, she may well simply be prying for information. He wasn't ready just yet to give it to her. Although, it was definitely time for a scenery change.
Looking at the girl with an adequately cold stare, Kaname pointed towards the door. "I believe this...sensitive topic is best discussed elsewhere. It is clear neither you nor I trust each other; if we may speak more plainly, I believe more truths may be revealed."

Well I’ll give you points for that… she trailed off in the back of her mind, before sighing and then telling as much as she could dare. “Well, to be honest… I’m following someone. A certain someone,” she continued, looking around just to make sure that they were not being followed—or spied on. “He is someone who joined up with the Rockets, but then broke away and ended up having this… this ambition of bringing them down. The troubling thing is, he’s charging in recklessly, and he’s determined to do it alone. I, on the other hand, cannot just simply turn a blind eye and watch him fail…” she said; since what he was on was essentially a road to madness—for how could the power of one; take down a much established power that comprised of many others? “He’s… changed. Being in Rocket changed him. And us locals in Lavaridge don’t like it, not after what he did…” she continued, before sighing and turning the page of the newspaper that she was reading once more.
“Being in Rocket warped him, and now he refuses to see reason until it kicks him straight in the vital regions, so to speak,” she added a few moments later, huffing as she closed the newspaper that she was trying to read. “That’s why I’m trying to see how much of Rocket’s past I can uncover; who’s in it, what they’ve been up to, and recently… why they’re up and running again, at least according to him. It reeks of something bad and I can’t help but turn a blind eye… not after I told myself I would keep him out of harm’s way,” she ended, her voice almost a whisper; but at that point they were brimming with unshed tears. She then took a gulp of air, and tried to calm down—because she wasn’t sure if this was hysteria that was beginning to settle in on her or whatever else emotion that was threatening to override her common sense. “I just… I want to put a stop to them. But even I myself, I don’t know how to do it, if I can’t save our hometown’s ‘prodigal son’ from his path down to madness.” She added, quickly opening up another newspaper, if but to hide her emotionally-wracked face for a moment.
She knew what she was saying was nothing but the honest truth, and besides, why would she lie about what she was doing… it wasn’t in her nature to lie.
As Kaname waited in silence, the young woman seemed to pour unto him her life's story - her ultimate purpose. Frankly, he was amazed that she hadn't been caught by Team Rocket yet, with her blatant naivete. He did have to admit, though, that he saw a certain fascination with her story; she sought to protect someone? By the way she spoke, it seemed as though he'd done something foolish - and if he understood correctly, that something was to join Team Rocket for a brief time. That was indeed alarming. A tight knot formed in his stomach. After what he did....which was what? A great sense of foreboding settled over the albino, but he continued to listen nonetheless.
She seemed to know something about Team Rocket - and from her words, it appeared that she desired to learn more. For this....'him' she spoke of. A certain look crossed her face, and her words grew cracked with emotion, her eyes beginning to water. At this point Kaname was fully engaged in her story, recognizing similarities that his own experiences held. Only....he played the role of this boy she spoke of, recklessly chasing Team Rocket. It was his ambition to do so that earned him the scar on his face. But despite everything...he would not give up. And that was how he met Sable-sama.
Sad, yet comforting eyes met the girl's. Were he a more open person, he likely would have embraced her - but his distrust of others and distaste for physical contact prevented such from happening. Instead he simply regarded her quietly, his eyes speaking the words for him - I understand your pain. It wasn't until her quiet admittance to not knowing what she should do that Kaname finally spoke, with a gentle tone, almost the same way he spoke to his sister when she was upset or ill.
"I believe you. And I believe that I may be able to help you." he murmured, eyes darting away for a moment to ensure he wasn't being watched. When he was satisfied that they were alone, he continued. "I recently have come across a team that seeks to stop the evils and plight brought upon us. They are against not only Team Rocket, but those that would do harm in general. They are...a growing team with many resourceful members. They are....we are...always open to new members who may lend their insight, and in turn, we will lend ours. If it is your wish...I may induct you into the team. Would you like to join our cause?" he murmured, cautiously reaching out his hand. He was not entirely used to the customs of Sable-sama's team...his own personal traditions were less Western. But it was Sable's team and he would honour his traditions - as such, they would shake hands in affirmation. If she wished to join, that is.

She had left him hanging, because the rest of the details was just too much to let loose in one go; she blinked rapidly several times in order to get the tears out of her line of vision; before seeing the white-haired individual (or was it silver? The light loved to play tricks with her eyes) stretch out a hand in her direction—and she’d clearly heard his remarks about having to keep Team Rocket in line—and apparently, it seemed, not just the Rockets, but every other criminal organization out there in general. She nodded, and watching the hand hover in front of her, she reached out to take it—there was no more doubt within her—and she shook his hand; and then firmed up her resolve. If she was going to get to the bottom of everything, it would be best to side with an organization that played the neutral ground, and did not get in anyone—well, everyone—else’s way.
“Lead the way then,” she nodded, standing up from the position and breaking off the handshake a few moments later, and then giving him a bow—if there was one thing that had been ingrained into her, it was to give a bow to anyone, because everyone deserved to be treated with respect—no matter what their standing in life may be. And now that she’d committed to joining this “organization”; she’d better get learning on how to exactly battle, and she had a plan formulating in the back of her mind—she knew just who to ask for hard lessons—since Leon had pretty much covered the basics for her.
