Claire Dupin... this was her cover name. Executive of Atlas Teleportation Services! She sat in a nice cafe in Pewter City outside on the Gazebo. Apparently the rumor mill from Viridian had spilled over to the next town rather quickly from her battle with Bunji. It still left a crater in the middle of the road from where her Magmar had defended itself unsuccessfully from a Hyper Beam. Most knew her as a tough trainer already, and assumed that she was going to go to the Pewter City Gym to challenge Brock. Unfortunately, she had bigger business to attend to as she set up the ATS stations on the routes surrounding Mt. Moon, giving people an option to skip travelling around the caverns in the first place for a small fee. Tapping on her computer, she smiled as she remained in her business suit and braided hair. Adjusting her glasses, she was making some final notes in her document folder and assessing the cost and profit that her company could make over time. There were a lot of rookie trainers who met their first big obstacle in Mt. Moon, and after beating the first Gym, they would have a little bit of pocket money to spend. While it wouldn't beef up their Pokemon as much, more rookie trainers could be more confident in traveling inside once the Psychic Flare was created and ATS agents could teleport to their location in a jam.
Meanwhile, a couple of ladies were whispering about her with their group of friends about her being called out as an Ex-Rocket in Viridian and how powerful her Pokemon were. Little did they know that after the battle she had done some training with them and were even stronger than when the battle had happened. Pretending not to notice, she sipped her tea and leaned her head against her hand, resting her elbow on the table as she waited for something to download.

She was wondering what had brought her here to this location in the first place—then she remembered hearing about something through the Trainer grapevine; that there was a red-headed individual that had battled with another person (presumably a Trainer as well) and that it had left… a rather permanent mark on the place where the battle had taken place. Needless to say, she could only follow the direction of where the rumors had led her—from Viridian, through the apparent maze that was the Viridian Forest (and getting harassed by bugs along the way) before finally emerging from the gloomy area and finding herself in Pewter City. Now that she had made it out of the forest, she then began looking around, asking innocently if they knew of the rumor that was going through the grapevine.
Apparently the gossip had spread quite fast, as there were some witnesses from the aforementioned battle loitering around the area, and after a quick talking-to, she’d pretty much figured out just who the battling figures were. She was not surprised at all to find out that the red-headed figure had a Nidoking and a Steelix, and she only knew one person who had these two particular ‘mons in their lineup… “Bunji… what the hell are you doing…” she could only growl to herself out of frustration as she began looking around the general area for anyone, anything that looked out of place. Wondering if it would be a good idea, she felt her hands close around one of the other Pokeballs that were in her pocket—but decided not to send any one of her team members out, just in case she drew some unwanted attention.
Hoping to check the rumor mills one more time, she then directed her footsteps towards one of the nearby cafes, and was suddenly reminded of the one she’d left back home—all the way out in Hoenn. She sighed, pushing her Waitress-like tendencies to one side, and then saw that there was someone seated outside one of the more frequented areas, as if waiting for something to happen. Making sure that her conversational abilities wouldn’t go haywire, she then stepped into the area—only to see that the entire outdoors area was jam-packed—and that the only other open spot was with the woman who seemingly looked bored.
“Uhm, excuse me… but do you mind if I join you here?” she tried, waiting for the reply. The air around the café was abuzz with gossip, mostly about Trainer battles and the like; and then some…
Claire looked up from her computer, surprised to see the beautiful woman in front of her. Looking over the lady, Claire assessed that she wasn't here to challenge her or try and question her about the ongoing rumors in a negative light, so she smiled and motioned to the other chair.
"Oh, by all means! My name is Claire Dupin! A pleasure to meet you, miss!"
Standing up to meet the woman, she was taller than her companion and dressed modestly, but elegantly. She offered her hand to Izumi, glad to make a new friend in this town. Despite all the gossip going around, she was glad that the first person she would meet started off in civil manner.
"I'm starting a new business up north. I'm the new owner of Atlas Teleportation Services and I'll be starting shop soon around Mt. Moon! I've been looking around on the net for some Pokemon with teleportation powers in order to expand my business and haven't been having much luck."
Claire looked around for a waitress to tend to her new acquaintance, fully intending to front the bill for whatever she wanted on the menu.

She was waiting on tenterhooks to see if her question would be accepted or denied… and by her luck, the invitation was graciously accepted, along with an introduction thrown in for good measure! “Good day to you, Claire. You can call me Izumi,” she said by her way of introduction, quickly taking the proffered hand and shaking it, before taking her seat across from the other woman. Even if she was dressed simply (in her normal travelling clothes, no less; but with the hoodie tied around her waist) Izumi was pretty proud of the way she carried herself, no matter the situation. At the mention of a “teleportation service”, her ears perked up, as if hearing about something very interesting. “Teleporting service?” she began, quickly reaching for the menu and placing her order—just for a simple tuna sandwich and a glass of juice—before resuming with her train of thought, “Now isn’t that interesting. I believe the Hoenn region would benefit from that too… wait one moment, did you say you needed a ‘mon that could Teleport?” she backtracked, before remembering that Momo, her Ralts, didn’t have that particular move… yet.
“I have a Psychic-type ‘mon with me, but the thing is, she doesn’t have Teleport in her move lineup… though I’m interested in the business that you’re setting up. Saves a lot of time having to hike around places and such…” she said with the hint of a grin in her voice. “Why not look into expanding to other regions as well? It’s pretty much a hassle if you live in another region and have to resort to travelling by boat, or by plane in order to get there… and Fly can only take you so far,” she added, remembering that her mother’s Fearow could only fly around the region of Hoenn, and no further than that. “I think I just gave you an idea on possible expansion...” she added, thanking the waitress that had appeared with her order and set it down in front of her. “Would you like to meet my Ralts?” she asked, taking a sip of the juice that had been placed down in front of her.
Claire was more than delighted with her new companion and took a seat with her hands folded in front of her. Her eyes were sparkling with ambition and ideas running through her head in meeting this new lady. She briefly paused in her thoughts in order to catch the waitress.
"Oh, I'll take the tab for this, thanks!"
Thus, Claire listened to the ideas of this marvelous Izumi... apparently a like-minded individual who appreciated climbing the ladder as well as resources of her own which she was offering to help! Oh! What a glorious day! She needed something like this after the problems she had with that filthy red head about a week ago.
"Wow, you must have a Ralts because you read my mind! I believe Orre needs it more than Hoenn, though. Their roads aren't even considered Routes over there are the roads over there are surrounded by wasteland. I've been testing the extent of teleportation powers with my own Alakazam, and I've found that he can make hop skip and jumps between Kanto and Johto, but that's about the only cross-regional travel I can pull off. I've thought about renting out ships as skipping stations between regions, but the margin for error is too risky. If the teleporter misses, they end up in water. If I ever expand to air travel with Flying, I might try the ship docking idea then because you can fly to an area easier without missing it. The kicker is making the boats self-sustaining for extended periods and making sure that they can stand up to hurricanes and other weather."
Sipping her cup, she paused in her thoughts and smiled. She could really get along well with this woman if she kept her at the casual business level. She would never bring her into Team Rocket or the inner circle, simply because she already got the impression she wouldn't be caught dead with the organization. Claire brought her hands in front of her again and nodded to Izumi.

“You can only go so far,” she nodded, taking note of the extent of the move Teleport’s limitations. “Having Teleport is handy, but it’s also in the same field as Fly… it can take you anywhere, just that the way of travel is different. But the concept is basically the same,” she nodded in agreement—but there was always the chance of encountering that margin of error, no matter how small it was. “If you were to get those kinds of ships… that would be very expensive, considering the cost of living these days… and other things for that matter,” she added, and she could see it in her mind—because she knew that there were ships that could stay on the ocean for a long period of time, but eventually they would end up having to refuel and reload off somewhere. She’d been to the Slateport Museum and had gone through the section of books there, reading up on stuff here and there…
“Okay, give me one moment,” she added a few moments later, having taken a bite out of the sandwich that was in front of her, and then rummaging within her pockets for that particular temporary residence that housed one of her favorite ‘mons, and said, “You can come out now,” before her Ralts, nicknamed Momo, appeared in a flash of red light and then started twirling around her feet, before attempting to climb up her leg. “Oh all right, come on up here,” she said, conceding a few moments later, letting the small ‘mon up onto her lap, before finally letting her hop atop the table and then gave a bow in Claire’s direction. “I know that most Psychic-types can learn Teleport but she doesn’t have that… because I’m planning on using Fly to get around much quicker, but all the same, here she is.”
“Ralts? Ralts, ralts!” she heard Momo call out, before taking another spin around the tabletop and then coming to a full stop near Claire’s field of vision.
Claire put her computer on one of the chairs in order to give the Ralts a little more space to move. Her eyes seemed to oggle the Pokemon in front of her as one of her honest personal weaknesses came to light... while the Pokemon before her wasn't a plushie, if someone did cute actions with just about any young Pokemon, she would go into gaga mode. Now, she wasn't into 'fluffy' Pokemon who were considered cute. Put a Clefairy in front of her doing a little dance and she would be swooning like a Pokefan girl. The little guy climbing up in her lap and dancing around the place was just enough to let her defenses down.
"Oh, she's darling! ... Too bad she doesn't have Teleport! Then again, I'd want her to stay cute and not get overtired from teleporting all day. Hmmm... thoooough."
Thoughts started to rush past her mind about how she could use this business meeting to her advantage. After running down the Pokemon she had in her mind, she recalled that a Gengar could mate with a Ralts if needed. She wasn't sure how the two would get along, though. Shade could be pretty scary and this sweet little girl could be scared from the big guy. At times with her, however, he was a giant teddy bear with a prankster streak. It would all depend...
"How do you think she'd get along with a Gengar? Now... I know what you're thinking, but my own Shade is more the jolly type even though he needs negative energy."
The Ralts might have been too young to breed, so she didn't want to push the issue of breeding unless she brought it up herself, but Claire dropped the seed of the idea so that Izumi could make the decision without pushing too hard. It was a touchy issue with some trainers.

“To be honest, she’s an empath of sorts,” Izumi began, watching as Momo—who now found herself with so much more space to move—began dancing across the tabletop—“and whenever she’s around me, you could say that she feels what I feel,” she continued, watching as the Ralts attempted to put on a show—but ended up spinning and twirling a lot instead across the surface. She then got an idea. “Why don’t we have the two interact with each other, and then see how it goes?” she asked, carefully playing her cards—because as an empathy, the Ralts line could go pretty wild if they were faced with a deluge of unusual emotions—her actions back in Hoenn, around Momo’s “apparent father” were a testimony to how crazy things can get whenever there was an empathic creature around. “If they’re around each other for a while, then I don’t see why not—if you know someone whose services we can use, then that would be all the better,” she added, taking another bite of the sandwich as Momo proceeded to levitate the salt and pepper shakers in front of her.
Of course, since she was still young the levitation wasn’t that perfect yet, but she was practicing… “It’s a shame that she can’t communicate via telepathy, but as long as she’s happy, I’m happy, and that’s what matters…” she trailed off, watching as the pepper shaker landed with a wobbly noise—yet the salt shaker was floating almost as high as Momo’s head was, before settling it down near the original place where the shakers were located. “It’s always a god idea for empaths to get used to the surroundings first, rather than pushing them into unknown and possibly dangerous situations, if what I remember reading about empathic abilities in general are correct,” she added, taking another drink from the glass of juice in front of her.
"Hmmm... I'll remember that if I want to use empaths for my business. Pairing them up with unstable people may get to them eventually. Well... let's see how she just reacts to his ball. He's pretty strong, so I'm wondering if letting her sense him through there would gauge her reaction early so we don't have to have her link to his power directly until she's ready."
Claire rummaged through her pockets herself and pulled out a few balls which were marked with stickers to determine which one was which. One with a purple PacMan ghost sticker on it was chosen and the rest were put away. Putting the ball in front of the Ralts to gauge her reaction to the Pokemon's aura inside. While the ghost inside wasn't necessarily a bad natured Pokemon, he was a dark fellow. He had civility, but he still needed the life forces of others to feed of off and that might be a deal breaker for the Ralts.
The businesswoman finished her coffee and looked at Momo and Shade's ball curiously. Shade's ball tipped to the side and the area around the table seemed to get a little chilly as his powerful aura showed itself in a small way, but not in a hostile way. It was... a refreshing chilly, like a breeze on a summer day, but unexpected to even Claire as she shot up in surprise when the chill went down her spine as it did every time Shade was around her.

She was in the middle of finishing off the sandwich on her plate when she saw Claire bring out an assortment of different Pokeballs, each seemed to have a marker on who resided within which one—and that gave her an idea. “You just gave me a good thing to do, so I don’t get all of their Pokeballs mixed up,” she said, noting that there was just one ball on the table—and the sticker on it looked vaguely familiar—and then the surrounding area felt a chill—but it wasn’t the windy, breezy kind of chill. It was one that made the hairs on Izumi’s nape stand up on end—but then again, they settled down after the initial shock of the sudden change in aura. Now, if Ralts was a Riolu—then things would be different. Instead, she then continued to watch as Momo came to a stop after another spin, and then slowly, but surely approached the sticker-decorated capsule. It was giving off that same chilly aura that was permeating the area—and if there were psychics around, they were bound to notice—but Momo, having taken after the first person who’d captured her (before eventually ending up in Izumi’s hands) came to a stop before the ball… and then gave it a poke. After the first poke, she gave it a slight nudge…
“Ralts?” she asked, this time looking towards Claire—as if inquiring about who the occupant of the Pokeball was. “Ralts, ralts.” She said, before giving it another tap, sending it rolling slightly—but making it come to a stop, as she decided to levitate the ball with her own telekinetic powers and bring it back to the original position where it had been placed. “Ralts. Ralts!” came the reply a few moments later, giving the Pokeball another nudge—and while Izumi was watching this, she broke out into another grin. “Well, looks like she’s… apparently playing with it,” she continued, watching as Momo used her telekinetic powers to hover the occupied Pokeball, bringing it almost to Claire’s eye level—and then letting it float back down on the table.
“She’s pretty friendly, in all honesty… and besides, I think empaths need to drain their negative emotions out before starting over again. I think,” she added watching the weird interaction—what would Claire say about it? Momo, I don’t know why, but you sure are gutsy for your kind… crossed her mind as she continued to poke the Pokeball with light, gentle taps.
It had been a long time since Claire had not thought of work and just hung out with someone. Sure, sometimes she would chill with fellow Rockets, but the Dark Lady was a prone workaholic. Just watching the Ralts playing with the Pokeball of her Shade was almost therapy for her. She gave a genuine smile and laughed at the Pokemon.
"Glad to be an inspiration!"
After one of the many taps from the Ralts, she pressed the button on the ball, allowing the shining light to be seen once again as the Gengar was unballed looking a little confused as it stood next to the table. While pretty big, he looked around curiously until he peered over the top of the table to watch the Ralts, Momo.
"Gaaaaar?"
"Shade, meet... oh, I'm sorry. Did your Ralts have a name?"
Claire looked sheepish for not asking about the name of the Pokemon in front of her and she blushed slightly from being slightly rude. The Gengar levitated up in a seated position, grabbing his feet with his hands and flipping upside down to look at the Ralts in front of him. Despite a menacing pair of red eyes, the big lug grinned with honest joy and waved at the Ralts. Claire laughed at her Pokemon and found her cup to be empty. The waitress came by, eyeing the two Pokemon before refilling the drinks of the two ladies.

Izumi watched as the Pokeball opened up in a flash of red light; and she had to stand up to glance over at where Claire was seated, because unlike her Ralts (which had to crawl up her jeans in order to see what was going on) who couldn’t see where the Gengar was located, she could feel the cool aura intensify at the moment of his appearance. A few moments later, she saw that there was a floating mass that slowly appeared, seemingly from below—and it then did what appeared to be a backflip in mid-air—Izumi then had to wonder what made Gengars float, even if they had feet—and thankfully, the overall aura of the area wasn’t that menacing; and in Momo’s case, she gave what appeared to be a short bow in the Gengar’s direction.
“Oh, I’m sorry about that! Her name? It’s Momo. She was named by the person who gave her to me,” she said by way of answering the question that was thrown her way. “They are of the same egg group, aren’t they?” she asked a few moments later, remembering that she’d dropped by one of the breeding ranches located in what she assumed was neighboring Johto, and then scoured the rest of her mind for the other bits of information she’d picked up. On Momo’s front, she then perked up and began attempting to levitate the pepper shaker this time around, managing to get as far as the Gengar’s field of vision before having to set it down again. At that same time, she could feel something being drained out of her—but instead of making her weaker, she could feel a sense of relief!
“Ralts. Ralts, ralts!” she called out, doing another spinning dance across the table top, and Izumi grinned—“Apparently your Gengar is feeding off of the bad emotions that my Ralts had acquired… because you did say that Gengars feed off of negative energy,” she quipped, omitting the part wherein she herself was one of the sources of all the bad energy that was floating around Momo at the moment.
"Well, life energy is made of positive and negative energy from what the old exorcist told me. There are usually two types of ghost personalities; the fun ones and the scary ones. Some simply take negative energy and others desire to make more by brutally scaring their victims before draining them to death. Don't get me wrong, he can be downright scary, but from my experience with Shade, he is only scary to people who he thinks deserve it... he wouldn't be able to use Dark Pulse if he had no negative thoughts of his own, he just... kinda keeps laid back."
The ability to Levitate for Gengar was a mystery even to Claire, but the ghost was hovering above the ground and over the table, still looking at Momo upside down. He returned the lady's bow... upside down. Apparently he was taught manners by his trainer! When Momo started dancing, the big lug started twirling in the air along with her, keeping his floating position in the air. Claire just watched the two and laughed again, coming back to one of Izumi's questions.
"Yes... they're in the same egg group. Perhaps having a ghost on your team who's a positive personality would be good for her. Did she have some bad experiences with her previous trainer?"
It was amazing how well these two women who never met were getting along so well! Claire felt a little bad that she would have to keep her out of Team Rocket's business, but none the less, she drank from her cup and watched the two Pokemon dance above and around the table.

Momo was having a fun time—even if her “play mate” was levitating in mid-air; and once she’d seen the hulking figure return the bow (albeit upside-down) she felt at ease; and when she started dancing, he followed along, while still in the same upside-down position! “Ralts, ralts~” she called out, having so much fun. It was a surprise that Momo didn’t get dizzy, what with all the spinning she loved doing… was it a sign that she was about to evolve in the near future? Over where Izumi and Claire were conversing, she then nodded, and then added, “I’m looking for good, strong ‘mons to take along with me on my journey. I need to cover every type, so I’m ready for anything. But I only have five at the moment—yet I have some more extras in storage,” she began, explaining a bit of what she wanted to do. “Do you think it would be a better idea to wait until Momo evolves, at least on your end?” she added a few moments later—because at the moment there was a gap that needed to be bridged.
Izumi sort of knew where the conversation would be headed; and since she’d already had Riku used in breeding, then she already knew what to expect. Taking another drink from the glass that had been refilled; she continued on, “As long as I can contribute to the cause, then I have no problems working alongside you and your company… what was that again, Atlas, right? Do you mind if I have a calling card of some sort?” she ended, setting the said glass back down on the table, and looking over to where the two ‘mons were apparently having their own version of the “Simon Says” game to pass the time while their Trainers talked.
"I would say we wait until she evolves too. Even if he's a nice ghost, he still has his life draining. If they get too close at this point, I don't want to risk her getting accidentally drained and not being able to handle it."
Reaching into her pocket, she gave Izumi a card with a stylized Kababra face in front of a Globe. It said Altas Teleportation Services with Claire Dupin's contact information. Claire sighed in relief and clapped her hands together. There was something nagging at the back of her mind, though. Why was this woman being so open and friendly with her? While she wanted to fully trust the woman in front of her, she just gave her contact information to someone she hardly knew. Claire decided to see if the rumors had trickled down to Izumi's ears.
"It's so good to meet a friend! I had such an awful time in the past week trying to get my business off the ground. It's refreshing to meet someone who is proactive to my project!"
Shade was more than happy to play Simon Says with his new friend and balanced himself on one leg just as he was commanded! Meanwhile, she would wonder if Izumi would either ask what was going on, or tell Claire herself what she had heard from the local rumor mill. In the event that she had not heard, she had a feeling someone would come up and tell her all the juicy details.
