Really, should this particular ruins be given some sort of name? For four threads now, we've used the same one. Regardless, Josh and Lightning had been traveling through and exploring these particular ruins all day long. And surprisingly, they had ended up with quite the haul. Mega stones and fossils, so far. Josh just hoped that their streak of luck could continue into its final chapter. Of course, it was getting dark. They would have to leave very soon, even if they didn't find anything else. It was getting harder to see in the cave the more that the sun went down, as the less light there was to illuminate the torch-less ruins through the cracks in the walls, the darker it got, the harder it got to see, and the harder it would be to explore.
Josh was glad he had been keeping tabs on where they had been going, making a map in his head as they went. He knew exactly what was new and what wasn't, and remembered what paths led back to the entrance. They had started going back that way, though tried finding any new paths that they could along the way.
Hopefully, this last run would be a good one.

And once again, the end result, the answer to that question would come rather quickly. The two would find themselves at a dead end. It was a dimly lit room, with some kind of in-ruins lake within the room. Josh and Lightning would pause as they stopped at the entrance to the room. And then Josh noticed something at the very end. Some kind of glowing stone on a pedestal. Sadly, it was at the other side of the lake. And there was no way to go around it or jump over it. They had to jump in and swim. Josh let out a sigh. "Well, we found our Mega Stone. The issue is just getting to it" Josh remarked over at Lightning. "Piiikaaa..." Lightning groaned in response. "Well, hop onto my shoulder, Lightning. Let's get this over with" Josh said as the Electric Mouse would climb onto the blonde's shoulder as he got ready to dive in headfirst with a running start.
But before he could get to the lake, he was forced to stop dead in his tracks mid-run when the water would part and rise up in front of him, as a very angry Gyarados would emerge from the water. His eyes widened. "..... Shit" Josh responded with his eyes widening, as did Lightning besides the part about the swears and such. Instead he freaked out with "Pika!"
"Pika is right! Whatever that means" Josh responded as the Gyarados let out a mighty roar. As the Gyarados prepared a Hyper Beam, all of a sudden Josh got an idea. "I sure as hell hope there's no fish under the water along with Gyarados! Lightning, use Thunderbolt on the water!" Josh would call out. It was a desperation move, but it was very likely this thing was going to obliterate them otherwise. "Pika.... CHUUUUU!" Lightning cried out as he zapped the water, the water conducting the electricity and shocking the Gyarados moreso then if he had just shocked it directly. It let out a cry in pain and anger, before falling flat. It wasn't dead, no, just stunned. Likely temporarily. Conveniently, it fell in a fashion that made a bridge for them to cross. "Let's go!" Josh cried out as he would quickly hurry across the bridge to the pedestal, taking the mega stone and examining it. "Huh... Gyaradosite" He mused aloud, recognizing it from the book that Yumi gave him. "How convenient" He said, looking back at the Gyarados... Who while they were examining the gem, had managed to get up, not 100% going down from the attack. ".... Oh god" He muttered as it fired a rage-filled Hyper Beam. Josh would take off, Lightning still clinging for dear life to his shoulder. The attack destroyed the pedestal, and the wall in front of them, the explosion from it sending them flying out. They hadn't been hit, no, but it had created a force behind them that sent them through the wall and into the air, flying high into the air and down below. Lightning clung to Josh for dear life as he would flail his arms like he tried to fly before seriously realizing he had no wings.
Finally he got a clue and sent out Ace. The Pidgeot would immediately get the point and would let the two land on his back. Both let out a sigh in relief as they hung onto the Pidgeot as it flew toward the Ranch, happy to go home. Josh looked over at the Gyaradosite in his hand and smiled.
