Being stuffed up in your lab was one thing. Being stuffed up in your lab with barely anything to show for it was entirely another: after hours and hours of work on studying the mysterious orbs he had found while excavating, he still had no real answers or even ideas on how close he was to one. That in itself was infuriating enough, especially after his difficult encounter doing some "side work". Vincent frankly needed a break, and knowing flash city he knew exactly where to go to get one: The Pokemon park.
The pokemon park was a unique little place that was an interesting mix of many things. A paradise of green in a city of steel and neon, this little reprieve was an ideal place for people and pokemon to interact in all sorts of ways. While play was often one of the most common ones, battling and even trading took place here under the watchful eye of city rules. While normally trainers came here always being prepared to battle, partially due to the trainer rules regarding how easy it was to challenge one another, the professor enjoyed a certain "immunity" to this rule. More often than not trainers challenged him thinking he was elite. The best of the best. While Vincent certainly thought fairly highly of his skills, he was well aware that he was far from being a master. Therefore, the ability to ignore many challenges from sometimes irritating youngsters wishing to lock proverbial horns to prove their strength was a boon when the professor came to the park with the specific intention of relaxing.
Like he was doing now.
Vincent found himself in the middle of a grassy glen, spattered with a tree every once in awhile here and there. Most of his pokemon were happily napping or resting in their pokeballs, the largesse of the lab normally providing more than enough space for them to play or otherwise interact. Two pokemon in particular were quite needy about being outside whenever possible though: Vincent's two "troublemakers" as he liked to call them. Mina the Eevee and Neil the Jolteon, both of which were currently romping around nearby him, careful not to stray too far. Thus far it was a calm enough day.
Though with Vincent's luck and two trouble making pokemon anything could go wrong in the blink of an eye. or at least get Vincent into trouble.

Vinny was enjoying the walk around the park. It was a bright sunny day in the park and there were plenty of people walking about and enjoying themselves. Wes was going around the park trying to climb up some trees, which he wasn't doing a very good job at, and Meryl was walking calmly besides Vinny.
It was indeed kind of strange that a place like this could live inside a place like Flash city and still be able to thrive just like it would in the wild. It was a place where people could just get away from urban troubles and just relax. This also was a prime spot to...."encourage" people to list Vinny in solving what ever problems they wanted to get away from. It helped that Vinny was also in a good mood today, maybe he'll even give a discount! He just needed to find someone out here, someone who looked like they needed help. So far most of the trainers he had come across were either battling or trading, which annoyed Vinny. Why couldn't they go to a Pokemon center if they were looking for battles?, all they were doing was making it harder to find customers and on top of that, Vinny had to sneak around in order to not be seen by people wanting a battle. Taking up space and forcing him to take a longer route, how annoying!
Eventually Vinny found one what looked to be like a guy who needed a break. He was away from everyone and was just with himself and his Pokemon in the middle of a grassy glen. Vinny turned to look down at Meryl and pointed towards the guy.
"Hey Meryl, you sensing any hostility from him?" Vinny asked. Meryl then turned in the direction of the man and "scanned" him. After it was clear that he wasn't hostile Meryl gave Vinny a nod of her head. Vinny smiled backed and whistled for Wes to regroup with him. Vinny then continued on his way towards Vincent.
"Hello there, friend! My name is Vinny and these are my two Pokemon, Wes and Meryl!" ,Vinny greeted himself to Vincent. Wes gave a thumbs up as a way of saying "Hello" and Meryl just shyly waved at Vincent.

Despite being what it was, It was not exactly as Vincent expected.
As his two pokemon continued to play along the grass, a young man with a ralts quietly approached him. It wasn't usually the kind of interaction Vincent had: in fact he spent so much of his time in the lab and out doing "side work" that it was rare he had any real "hello" based interaction at all. Let alone with someone who was very clearly younger than him, as the Professor was literally about to open his mouth and greet the boy back, a rather sharp noise that was something of a mix between a bark and a hiss cut through the air: Apparently Mina (an Eevee) was quite fed up with some of Neil (a jolteon)'s antics. She quickly ran up and plopped onto Vincent's lap, her fur rather "poofy" as she glared at the Jolteon that was still on the ground. Neil attempted to get closer to her, but from the safety of Vincent's lap the Eevee batted at the Jolteon with several quick swings of her paw, making sure her point was well heard to the boisterous Jolteon.
Neil, recieving the message quite clearly, then wandered over to the boy that was sitting in front of Vincent: sitting down in front of the boy, it looked up at him for a second, tilting his head in curiousity as he looked almost expectantly at the boy for some kind of reaction. Meanwhile, Mina also looked over at the boy, still curled up on Vincent's lap for the perceived Safety it provided to the small pokemon.
"Hello....Ahahah...Apologies. Neil and Mina can get a little excited. Thankfully it seems like they've temporarily been distracted for the moment. Hopefully your Ralts isn't too bothered by it: if so I can reign in Neil a bit. A pleasure to meet you." Vincent said, giving a slight wave over to the Ralts that had greeted him in a similar manner.

"Woah this guy looks like he has some strong Pokemon, I better be careful not to do anything rash near them..." Vinny thought to himself quietly. As Mina and Niel came over Meryl got scared by the new Pokemon and quickly ran to hid behind Vinny. She shyly poked her head out from behind Vinny's back before retreating back into his shadow.
"Oh don't mind Meryl, she's just a little shy." Vinny said as he scratched the back of his head while looking down at Meyrl. Wes also approached the group and decided to sit down next to Vinny, legs crossed. Wes almost fell backwards while going to sit down but thankfully managed to stop himself from falling down.
"It's nice to meet you too, sorry if I seem to be intruding on private matters but you give off a vibe as if you were concerned about something. Is that true?" Vinny asked as he took an apple out of his left jacket pocket, Vinny then casually ate the apple hoping to drive Mina and Niel's suspicious away for the time being. "I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if you weren't. People tend to come here to get away from all of the hustle and bustle of the big city."

Vincent was watching astutely as the boy spoke, noting the reactions of his pokemon. His Ralts was obviously very shy, hiding behind its trainer as it Neil approached it. On some level perhaps the Jolteon understood this, and after a moment instead of approaching the Ralts it instead moved over to the boy, stopping in front of him to sit down and stare up at the trainer with a curious look. It was obvious to Vincent that the Jolteon was obviously attempting to size up the boy at the moment, unsure of what to think of him.
Mina meanwhile stayed firmly put where she was, but then did note the presence of a second pokemon as her ears perked up slightly and she looked in the direction of the sneasel that had approached and sat down. Her sensitive hearing had likely picked up the pokemon from further away, but it wasn't until it was near its trainer that the Eevee reacted. Meanwhile, Vincent himself was caught up in the conversation that the boy had started.
"Is it that obvious? I wouldn't think so: that's a rather astute observation of yours. As a matter of fact I am here to relax in a sort of way. You are half-mistaken on one point though: while a good many people do come here to relax, I would argue just as many if not more come here to battle. This is a good neutral ground to fight as opposed to the alleyways and streets of the city, and its monitored enough that you wouldn't have unpleasant outside forces interfering with more innocent Pokemon battles. That unfortunately means of course if a trainer challenges you that you must accept that challenge...Unless you have a way to circumvent such a thing. You could say I'm lucky enough to be a professor, and thus have a luxury of avoiding unnecessary pokemon battles with some ease." Vincent responded, adjusting his glasses somewhat.
"So I have an easier time relaxing here than most. What about you? Apologies if I seem frank, but you look like a somewhat new trainer and this park may not be for the faint of heart for trainers...How did you get here without being swamped with battles?" Vincent inquired, genuinely somewhat curious by the boy who had rather courageously approached him.

Vinny couldn't help but smile a little bit after Vincent confirmed his suspension. In all honestly, Vinny wasn't even one hundred percent sure that Vincent was under some stress, it was just a bit of wild guess. Regardless, Vinny managed to confirm what he needed to confirm for now, now he just needed to get acquainted with Vincent.
After Neil chose to focus it's attention on Vinny instead of Meryl, Meryl poked her head out a little bit. It was just enough so that she could see Vincent and his Pokemon. Neil and Mina didn't seem too treating and just wanted to size up Vinny along with her and Wes. Wes meanwhile just chose to sit down with Vinny, greeting Vincent's group with a smile.
"Well in my experience, everyone has some sort of thing bothering them, no matter how small. Battling can just be seen as another way to relieve one of that "devil" on the shoulder if you would, it helps that being in the park seems to make everything in the city fade away, at least in my own opinion." Vinny said as he continued to munch on the apple.
"Well you did get it right that I'm a new official trainer, but today I just wanted to er, explore the new sights if you would. I'm not from Nue which is why I chose to come to the park today to get a handle on how the people of this region are, I was lucky to not get swamped with battles. Today everyone seemed to be battling on the common routes, so I took an uncommon one. There weren't any people on there so yeah, I got lucky." Vinny said as he finished his half of the apple and gave the rest to both Wes and Meryl to share.
"But you're a professor? That's neat! If you don't mind me asking, what kind of things do you study?" Vinny asked scratching his head. It appeared that Vincent was starting to get used to him, this was good. Maybe he could asked to be "employed" for an experiment?

Vincent had to admit, the kid that he was speaking to was sharper than his initial looks indicated. The way he talked about making the city fade away via battling somewhat spoke to Vincent, though perhaps not for any reasons that would be readily apparent. As he listened to his newfound acquaintance speak, Neil was whining in the canine way you would expect of any Eevee-type pokemon: mostly about the apple that the boy was holding and eating. After a few moments, the Jolteon moved forward and stood up, balancing on his hind legs and using his front ones to steady himself against Vinny.
The eevee on Vincent's lap glared at Neil, making apparent her disgust for the sometimes rude and forward nature that the Jolteon had. Meanwhile, Vincent was quick to correct the behavior with a snap of his fingers, causing the Jolteon to turn its attention almost immediately to him.
"Neil, down please. No need to be rude."
The Jolteon (reluctantly) obeyed and sat back down, still looking at that rather delicious apple and attempting to figure out any possible way to procure it. Meanwhile, Vincent took the time to respond to the boy's question.
"I study the various applications of advanced technology in regard to pokemon and the synergy between the two, with a personal goal in practial application to both pokemon...My actual job is very complicated, so I suppose you could say I'm a "Jack of all trades" who learns what he needs to in order to do the job. I also do advisement for Interpol, which is something I personally am quite proud of." Vincent stated, finally managing to finish his explaination. "At any rate, I'm curious by what you mean the "Uncommon routes". if your relatively new to nue, no pun intended, how did you know which was a common and uncommon route? or am I reading too much into it?" Vincent said with a chuckle, but it was something that caught his attention: it already seemed the boy had better observational skills than intial glances might indicate, and Vincent was exceedingly curious as to how he was so easily able to evade so many trainers so easily.

Jeez wasn't this guy persistent? In all honestly, what Vinny really had done was bribe a man for info on the uncommon routes but Vinny wasn't sure if that would fly with Vincent. Especially after he had just revealed that he was a professor. While Vinny didn't exactly like being treated like he was a kid who had just sent out for his adventure (Which he kinda was) Vinny didn't feel that way. He was Vinny Hade! He had been involved in a bunch of plans since he was a kid, he was sure he knew a thing or two about battles. But alas, Vinny remained silent. After all, don't professors usually give out stuff to new trainers?
"Oh, it's fine. No damage was done." Vinny said in response to Vincent scolding his Jolteon. Wes looked at the situation and couldn't help but giggled a bit at Neil's scolding. Meryl meanwhile slowly started to edged out more and more in out of Vinny's shadow while still remaining close to him and Wes.
"Well how does one find out what uncommon is? I figured it by merely observing that not many people were taking that route and so I went down it. I wouldn't really advise it though, it was way too long for my taste." Vinny said. "Yeah throw some smart talk in there, people like him love it." Vinny thought to himself.
"The synergy between machines and Pokémon? How do you go about your tests in these studies? " Vinny asked Vincent. Well look at this, Vincent was more interesting then Vinny had originally expected!

There was a slight smirk that crossed Vincent's features as the boy asked him What how he went with experiments with these studies. A slight shift in his glasses that was almost proud was Vincent's response as he stood up.
"Well, I could tell you, but that might take part of the fun out of you earning it. I know you said you were just around for a stroll, but what would you say to a training battle? I have a couple of pokemon that could use some experience, and you look like your just starting out. I won't put any stakes on it, so you won't need to hand over any money win or lose." Vincent inquired. With a snap of his fingers, Mina and Neil quietly moved over in front of Vincent, seemingly waiting for orders. It was an interesting move, but Vincent was quite sure of it being the right one: there was no better way to train than a battle with no stakes, and this could help some of the mons of his that needed some experience get some even if it wasn't in a super risky manner.
Vincent stood up, looking over to the boy with a somewhat wry smile on his face.
Woah a battle all of a sudden? It seemed kind of sudden, especially since Vincent didn't seem like the type to just have a battle out of the blue. Then again, that's how the world worked; right? Especially considering the fact that Vincent was a professor there was no way Vinny could say no.
"A battle? Well I guess Meryl and Wes could go for a few..." Vinny said as he got up from the ground. Vinny reached downwards from his backpack and grabbed it before putting it on himself. Judging by the fact that Vincent was a professor it wouldn't surprise Vinny if he were to have six Pokémon on him right now, which would put Vinny at a disadvantage. However, that didn't mean the battle was over just from the start! If Vinny could pull previous schemes out of his butt and come out on top, he could do it here!
As soon as Vinny got up Meryl got up along with him. Meryl did a quick little bow to Vincent and his group before getting into something of a defensive pose. Meryl was a bit worried here, even though this was just a simple training battle Vinny seemed to be taking this a bit..seriously. It was just a training battle right? Meryl rarely had any fighting experience out in the wild so right now training was exactly what she needed. With a little more confidence this time Meryl stood up straight.
Wes tried to get up from his position but ended up falling down on his back. Wes hissed a bit before jumping back up to stand along side his group for the fight as Vincent did with his. Wes then started to jump in place while pretending to slash a foe in front of him, hoping to intimidate the foes a bit. Unfortunately after Wes' display of failing to get would most likely in only making his foes laugh. They were to laugh? Who cares! Soon enough they'll end up at the sharp end of his claws.
"Alright so how do you want to start this battle?" Vinny asked Vincent, "Do you want to go first or should I?"
