While Bubbles and Algernon were exploring the submerged area of the temple, Gaius and Scorpio had promptly taken to the skies. The duo were heading for the uppermost part of the temple, an area normally inaccessible due to the stairs having crumbled who knows how long ago. Thankfully, they clearly weren't bothered by such a limitation, having flight capability and all.
While Gaius wasn't normally involved in these sort of activities, being used as transportation to places like this at the most, it was Scorpio that held the experience on hunting for these marbles of power. So while Gaius was partially here to learn from his more experienced comrade, he was also there to provide some much needed security for them, just in case the situation called for some heavy firepower.
In any case, upon reaching the upper levels of the temple, the duo would notice that it was still spacious enough for them to comfortably fly around in, which suited the both of them perfectly as they flew into the first room they could see.

Upon entering the room, the duo would find themselves in a mostly empty space, save for a fossil just sitting on the ground. Scorpio landed and walked over to it, while Gaius scanned the room for anything else. Upon inspection, the Gliscor would notice that the fossil had a dome-like shape to it, but he didn't quite know what it was.
Meanwhile, Gaius noticed no conventional exits to the room. However, he did notice that a part of the wall seemed to be damaged. So taking advantage of this, the dragon unleashed a pulse of draconian energy at the cracked wall, destroying it with ease and opening a passage for them to go further into the temple.
Scorpio, who wasn't paying attention, was startled by the sound of the wall being blown up. He dropped the fossil, which thankfully didn't break on impact. Once he got his bearings, he followed Gaius out of the exit he had made for them.

As the duo glided into the next room, they'd see a statue with its left arm and head blown off. They couldn't tell if this happened recently, or in ancient times, but what they could see was rubble that was most likely left over from the parts of the statue that had been blown off. Either way, there was no visible sign of what caused this to happen, not that they could notice anyway.
What caught their attention was the wall behind the statue had a sizable hole in it, just large enough for Scorpio to make his way through. But Gaius wouldn't be able to fit through it in his state. The Gliscor nodded to the Hydreigon, before making his way through the hole in the wall, taking flight upon making it to the other side.
Meanwhile, Gaius noticed the remains of what seemed to be a balcony. But more importantly, it was the host of a passageway he could fit through.
However, he would wait on his comrade before potentially getting lost.
Dig Dig Dig . . . What's this?! Congratulations, You've found Intriguing Stone! Not a Mega Stone but it's still a beautiful stone. It can be sold for a high price to a collector.

Scorpio would find what would seem to be a Mega Stone positioned at the edge of a small hole. Smiling, the Gliscor quickly approached the thing, only for his tail to accidentally tap the stone, and send it tumbling into the hole. Scorpio tried desparately to go after it, only to find that he couldn't fit in the hole. All he could do was watch for a moment while his prize slipped away.
Thankfully, the hole was big enough for him not to fit his head in there, but also to pull it out. The Gliscor sighed to himself, disappointed that he let what seemed to be another good Mega Stone go. If Thomas saw this, the scorpion feared that his trainer would be most disappointed in him.
Meanwhile, in the other room, Gaius started to look around for treasure. However, rather than the treasure being directly in the room, he would notice another crumbling wall. With a Dragon Pulse, he blasted the wall down, and made his way inside.

What Gaius would see behind the broken wall was a pedestal with a familiar-looking stone. Among the collection of examples that Thomas had shown the dragon before going out on this mission, he saw one of similar color. However, if there was one thing he could say about it, it was that the thing had to be a Mega Stone. That, or just a well replicated fake, but that would be for Thomas to decide.
The dragon took the stone, in one of his mouths, and called out to Gaius as he reentered the main area they split up in. The Gliscor, still wallowing in self pity for his failure, skulked into the room, only to find Gaius with a Mega Stone in his mouth. The flying scorpion was shocked, but nevertheless smiled at the fortune of Gaius having found a Mega Stone despite the loss of what seemed to be a Mega Stone.
Now they just needed to link back up with their master.
