The Wailmer and Wailord Seaside Contest Hall and Battle Arena of Friendship Theater Description: The Wailmer and Wailord Seaside Contest Hall and Battle Arena of Friendship, also known as the Seaside Contest Hall, is the largest building within the Wailord Sanctuary of Friendship. Petitioned by the owner of the Sanctuary, William Rosenbach, the Contest Hall is an elegant building, the outside themed around the very sea that surrounds the area, the inside a grandiose hall with elegance and grace being perhaps the most major factors, if not the overly-obvious expensiveness of the decor. The surrounding area, the Sanctuary, has no building that matches either in size or elegance. Not only used as a Contest Hall, within the Sanctuary the Hall is also center of events, with a large bulletin board near the door, with notices and posters denoting events, situations, and so on within the Sanctuary. The Entrance HallThe "middle building" if you will, the Entrance Hall is the first things visitors will see when they enter the building. A large, embellished room with chandeliers and staircases that make most people feel underdressed, the Entrance Hall is where the party guests/participants are greeted and directed, as well as a place to socialize and enjoy the elegance. We recommend coming in full attire. This building also has the dressing rooms in the back, as well as connects to the Battle Arena and Contest Stage on the left and right wings, respectively. The Battle Arena and the Contest StageThe left and right side buildings, both are filled with that same elegance and grandiose that fills the entrance hall.To the left is the battle arena, to the right is the contest stage, both of which are accessible via the entrance hall. The rooms are disguised as Ballrooms, in which the Opening Gala and Grand Finale are held, with the full flair of a elegant ball party. The battle arena's dance floor opens up to reveal the battling ground, and the Contest Stage rises out of the floor in the right wing, giving participants all the stage necessary to perform. Being near mirrors of each other, one is themed silver and blue, the other is themed red and gold. Both the battle arena and contest stage have retractable roofs, allowing the participants all the space necessary. As expected, there is enough space for even a Wailord. Beachside StageEvery so often, there is a need for something done beachside - the Contest Hall has a solution for that. A little nice private beach is the solution: when battling might require a seaside locale, performances and battles move the event to the beachside, where rocks and plenty space are allowed for grounded Pokemon, while the ocean expands before the event, allowing space for sea Pokemon. Bleachers and a little table are put up for the crowd and judges . Contest House Rules:- All participants must follow the dress code: formal. People who identify as male are recommended to wear suits and tuxedos. People who identify as female are recommended to wear dresses and ball gowns. Of course, men can wear dresses if they want and women can wear suits if they want. This applies unless the theme of the Contest denotes otherwise.
- All members of the crowd must maintain all Pokemon within their Poke Balls at all times. All participants must maintain any Pokemon that are not part of an appeal, battle, dance, or otherwise any other performance, within their Poke Ball.
- Any unsanctioned battle, form of cheating, sabotage, or otherwise prohibited acts will get the participant a disqualification. All viewers are asked to behave in a polite and respectful manner towards the participants.
- Please be courteous to the wild Pokemon that may or may not be encountered within the Sanctuary - they will be courteous and not interrupt your performances.
Contest Program:- The 1st day of the Contest events will always be the Opening Gala. During this day, Coordinators, viewers, judges, and all are welcome into the Contest Hall, an elegant party being thrown in order to celebrate the Contest - this gives time for all performers to become acquainted with everyone else and make new friends.
- The very next day after the Opening Gala is the Appeals Round. Appeals are when a Coordinator introduces themselves and uses this as a chance to catch the attention of the judges. It lets them get a bit more personal with the crowd, and aims to be a period where they can market themselves as someone worth remembering. Performers are expected to appeal with one (or more, if the specific Contest denotes such) Pokemon, showing of their moveset and demonstrating mastery over the theme of the contest. Performers are expected to be interactive with the crowd and their Pokemon.
- The next round is perhaps the most iconic of all Coordinating Rounds, the Performance Round, also know as the Visual Round. It is during this round that the Coordinators pick a song that fits to the Contest's theme, and perform along with their Pokemon. They can tell a story, just try to show off, or any mixture therein - the purpose is to demonstrate your mastery over the finesse of Pokemon Coordinating. Depending on the theme of the Contest, different songs and shows will be more effective.
- The last official round of the Pokemon Contest is the Battle Round, where perfomers are pitted against each other to demonstrate their ability in battle and skill at outshining the competition. While winning the battle certainly demonstrates some skill, the Battle Round is about showing off your Pokemon while making your opponent look bad: grandiose moves, artful dodging, and flashy, over-the-top spectacles can all benefit a performer's score. All battles will be held in separate threads, and will be given a time limit, under which, if no clear victory has been declared, the battle will stop where it may be.
IMPORTANT: All battles must follow the rules and regulations provided in the Pokedex 101's Battling Guide. No rule breaking or attempts to be invincible will be tolerated.
- The last event will be Grand Finale - this event is much like the Opening Gala, and while there is a party to celebrate the performers and their skilled shows, it is all about the reveal of the winners. Performers will be permitted one last time with the microphone, to talk to the judges, to the camera, to the crowd, and even to their other contestants - a chance to give their last impression. While nothing here can change your score, it is a formal event with much elegance. It is in this event that the winners will be announced and prizes given.
