After the shit-show that was his last run through the Mega Ruins, specifically the flooded out area of it, Thomas decided to go back to exploring the dry land portion of the area. This time, he was decked out in his usual exploration gear, no scuba suit or anything on his person. The trainer decided to revisit the good old days of his adventures in the Kalosian Badlands, and see if there was anything under the dirt.
The trainer eventually found an area that seemed to have been tended to by multiple people, without any of them being present. A few holes were scattered about, where they had been searching for treasure. Their equipment was left behind. Either they gave up on the area, or they were taking a break from it. Thankfully, it looked like the area hadn't fully been explored, so Thomas had some digging to do.
The trainer pulled out his old collapsible shovel, and brought out Ripper the Scizor.
"Ripper, keep watch for me.", Thomas told the Scizor, who nodded to him.
Dig Dig Dig . . . What's this?! Congratulations, You've found WISE GLASSES! Looks like another digger lost their glasses in the dig. Lucky you these are just for show, so you can probably sell them off or keep them for yourself to make yourself look smart?

It didn't take Thomas long at all to discover something in the dirt. Rather than a relic or anything of that sort, the trainer would instead find a pair of glasses in the large pile of dirt he scooped up with his shovel. Even though such things were useless to him, he felt the compulsion to at least see what they were like. The trainer pulled them out of the dirt, and started to clean them off with his shirt.
That was when he found out the stupid things were just for show.
"Yep, fucking useless!", the trainer commented to nobody in particular as he simply chucked the things away from him, not caring what happened to them.
The trainer instead migrated over to a different spot in the area, and started to dig.
"Well, at least the soil's softer than the stuff in the Kalosian Badlands.", Thomas commented aloud again.

It took Thomas a little bit longer than the last time to dig up something. However, instead of scooping up something in the dirt he was heaving out of the ground, the trainer would instead find his shovel stopped on something very hard. As he did in the Badlands, he prodded around until he could feel soft dirt again, then dug around the thing to loosen it up, before prying it out of the ground.
What Thomas would find next would be a lot better than the pair of hipster glasses he found in the dirt. Instead, the trainer would find yet another fossil. This time, it was a Root Fossil, which would revive into a Cradily, that much he knew. It was a Pokemon he had seen quite a bit, especially back in Hoenn. He even overheard some of the teenagers refer to it as a "dildo plant" back in those days.
But as useful as another addition to the old army would be, Thomas decided to just leave it in the ground, and migrate elsewhere in the site to dig.

It was funny how digging took Thomas back to his time in the Kalosian Badlands. Where digging was all he ever did to search for treasure. Even though Ripper was the one standing guard, and not Algernon like old times. This experience in the little excavation site was kind of like a walk down memory lane for the trainer.
It was even funnier when the experience brought him back to his very first time he joined in on the excavation effort in the Kalosian Badlands, where he dug up that purple stone that he would later find out was a Gengarite, the very same one he traded in for a Keystone with an extremely tall man with white hair. And in going full circle, one he traded his very first find in the Mega Ruins for, a Keystone, to obtain from a man with black hair.
"Ripper, we got something good!", Thomas called out with a grin, holding up the Gengarite he plucked from the dirt upon spotting it.
"Alright, let's just hope that wasn't the only prize in here, otherwise those who started on this area will be pretty pissed off.", Thomas continued, walked over to Ripper, and walking out of the ruins with the black Scizor at his side instead of recalling him to his Pokeball.
