After having gotten out of the nightclub, Thomas and Andrea headed to the former's apartment. However, as Andrea suggested, the two siblings made a detour to grab some snacks along the way. How the two managed to pass off as not being drunk was a mystery to Thomas, especially after he had more beers than he usually did. But in any case, Thomas was glad their little detour was without any complications.
After getting to his floor via the elevator, Thomas unlocked his door, pleased to see that Andrea had remembered to lock his door behind her. Rather than being greeted with Pulse tackling him and hugging him, he would instead see not only his Pokemon, but two more Pokemon, including another Audino, and a Gothita. All of them were sleeping, and it was extremely cute to watch, if one were to ask Thomas.
In any case, Thomas quietly walked over to the table, putting down the snacks, and offering Andrea a seat before taking a seat of his own.
It was time for a big talk between siblings who hadn't been in contact until now.

Tom / the actual talk begins / 359
She put it down to having a natural “poker face”, the way they were now headed back to his apartment. Even if Thomas did have a distinct aroma of beer hanging about him (and she smelled quite fruity, but let’s not go there) he still managed to keep his wits as they went through a small convenience store, and had picked up more snacks and drinks; the better to sober themselves up since they’d been out drinking and talking about business things. Now that they were going to someplace more private, they could talk more freely about things; and once they’d arrived at the apartment complex, she then gave the front-desk receptionist her most sheepish grin as they then took the elevator up to his place. After unlocking the door (see, it really did make sense to lock after one went out) she then kicked off her boots at the entrance , out of old habit, and saw that the ‘mons that she’d seen before leaving a few hours ago were now all conked out, fast asleep!
Her Gothita had fallen asleep with its head leaning against the glass window, while her Audino… well, let’s just say that she had somehow wound up lying next to the Happiny and the Teddiursa who had taken command of the floor rug in front of the television! She then hefted the other paper bag that contained the sodas and then gladly settled herself down into the chair opposite his, before reaching for one of the paper bags he’d been lugging around and extracting a big bag of potato chips, and then opening it, letting the air out before reaching inside. “So,” she began after a long while, looking at him squarely in the eye—despite the fact that she was now sort-of battling with a hangover—“…what do you want to know about first? Feel free to ask away. I can give you all of the details, now that we’re in private…” she trailed off, munching on a handful of the chips—it really did matters to eat off the hangover, as her mind was now dragging itself back into sharp focus.

Though Thomas had downed five beers, he managed to keep his wits about him. The boy had a pretty strong tolerance for alcohol, possibly inherited from one of his parents, possibly acquired. But then, even when he started drinking, and he rarely drank, it took quite a bit to get the trainer properly drunk. But in any case, Thomas took her to a place where the person working nights had no sense of smell, down an area that was quiet that time of night. Still, it was pure luck that nobody else was in the area to detect the stench of beer off the sixteen year-old.
Thomas simply waited for Andrea to start, not having started on any of the snacks the two had picked out together. And it came to a choice: discuss his family affairs first, or what there was to know about the thieves in the Viridian Forest. And as much as he wanted to know about his family, especially in light of this latest stunt, it was ultimately the Viridian Forest thieves that bothered him. Ever since he had changed in Johto, he had been obsessed with bringing them down for stealing his three Pokemon, and selling them off to their hellish fates.
In the end, he just had to know about the latter.
"Tell me everything you can about those bastards in the Virdian Forest...", Thomas told her, his tone quite vindictive. It was clear that it wasn't her that made him mad, but that he had a serious grudge against the thieves.

Now that they had settled down, and Andrea was munching away at some of the chips, she looked up at his slightly… “mad” expression (that’s what she’d call it, because of the somewhat crazed glint in his eye) on his face as he asked first about the Viridian incident. Guess family comes later… she thought as she finished munching on the chips before speaking up. “Ah, yes, the Viridian Incident. As it turns out, at least from what my friend in Kanto told me… there has been this string of reports stating that whoever passes through the forest gets mugged, either going to or headed away from Viridian and Pewter. The thing is, nobody knew who was behind these things, so they tried to interview the victims… but they were too scared and didn’t want to talk,” she began, reaching in for another handful of chips and then munching down on them, allowing her enough time to gather her wits. As she swallowed the next mouthful, she continued, “…apparently they’ve always played their m.o. like this: someone would come out of the forest and ask for help, because once whoever goes with them follows them into the forest… they get mugged, brutalized… and in some cases, their own Pokémon get stolen…” she trailed off, before standing up for a bit.
“Wait here,” she trailed off, as she then headed for the living room where she’d moved her traveling bag, and then began looking through the entire contents, finally managing to pull out a thin folder that was buried underneath some of her performing clothes, and then walking back to the table where he waited. “Here,” she continued, sliding the folder across the table, “…I managed to get my friend to send me a copy of the headlines for the newspapers. I’m surprised it didn’t deteriorate… I just stuck it in the folder and hid it under my things. Feel free to read through it,” she continued, reaching for another handful of chips. If Thomas were to look, it was a rather old copy of the Viridian Times, with the headline “Forest Ambushers Apprehended!” along with a full-blown picture of the mugs who were behind the operation, being herded into custody by the officers of the law. There was also an accompanying article that had the details that she’d given an overview of; should he wish to read through it. she then spoke up and added, “They were that infamous, the Saffron Nightly actually featured them on one of their news reels that time.”

It seemed cold that Thomas would choose revenge over his own family. But then, as far as Thomas was concerned, his Pokemon were his family, had been over the past six years, and still were. The fact that three of his Pokemon, including his first, had to suffer such fates at the hands of such evil people was what was mainly on his mind. And even if his own father tried to stop him from getting the bastards responsible, he would destroy the bastards for what happened to his Pokemon.
Thomas silently read the article Andrea provided him with. As he read the title, he could feel his heart sink a little bit. If they had already gotten to the thieves by now, then there was little way he could find out who was responsible for buying his Poochyena and Ratatta. Sneaking into the prison was far too risky, and he wouldn't know who accepts bribes. All he could hope for was that some remnants remained on the outside. If he could hunt down at least one who could lead him to the information he desired on the people behind the experiments in Cinnabar, then he'd be content, even if it meant leaving the leader, if they were locked up, to the authorities.
But of all the faces of the men busted by the authorities, he didn't recognize one of them. This immediately made the young trainer hopeful that he could find the one who tricked him, and get some answers on their location.
"... Thank you, and now I'm ready to hear about what's going on with our family...", Thomas told his older sister.

Now that they had gotten the mugging out of the way, it was time to talk about the ugly part—the one thing that Thomas here had been running from for the past few years or so. “Well,” she began, scooping up another handful of chips and plucking one out before taking a bite off it, “…Sarah’s currently undergoing training to be a Ranger. Last I heard before I distanced myself from…him… she’d been sent off to be an apprentice with one of the fellow Rangers in Hoenn. I doubt she’d have any contact with us now, because you know their line of work… protect nature and all that stuff,” she began, trying her best to remember the few details.
“As for the two… well... after I cut myself off from them, it’s not been easy. He keeps on sending messages—be they air mail or delivered by electronic means. I just let them pile up, because honestly, I don’t want to contact him anymore. He’s become way too domineering over Mother now,” she added with a bit of a scowl on her face.
She then started tossing chips into her mouth, catching them as deftly as she could manage, before continuing, “…imagine my surprise when I saw you here. When you brought up the little thing about an arranged marriage, that kind of shocked me. Why would they want you back, after mistreating you for so long? At least you’ve managed to stand up on your own,” she added with a grin, cramming even more chips into her mouth at that point.

Thomas listened to Andrea as she gave him information on his family. Unless Sarah was visiting at the time of his arrival, he wouldn't have to worry about catching her in the crossfire of his rage. But then, even if he saw her, she probably wouldn't even recognize him. If she took his side, and tried to help him in the arrangement, then he could be in trouble, depending on how skilled she became.
"Right...", Thomas said, taking a swig of of soda he had cracked open while listening to her.
He heard that he had been bugging her, he looked at her. He wondered if they actually had his number, whether or not they'd attempt to constantly bug him over voice mail like they were doing to her. But then, they had plenty of opportunities to send letters to him over the last few months, so why just one now? Was it really some sick trick, or did they really just sell him off behind his back?
"Probably just to assimilate my fortune into theirs. Now that I have something that could possibly be of use to them, they're going to take it by whatever means they can, and dump me to the side in some loveless marriage afterwards. I can't imagine their intentions being any good though...", Thomas replied to her.
"I just wonder how they'll react to the new me... I bet they'll go on some rant about how they want "their son back", not that they even gave a flying fuck about "their son.", Thomas said coldly.

“Oh, I don’t know…” she began calmly, after noticing that Thomas still had a lot of leftover resentment for their family back home in Lilycove; it was only natural after all—to run away from an oppressive home and make your own way out in the world. “I cut myself off from them—but that was only because I didn’t want to become too dependent on them,” she trailed off, before reaching into the bag again and withdrawing a hand full of chips, before munching on them and then letting the silence fall between them for a few moments. after she’d managed to swallow her latest handful, she then reached for the paper bag and extracted the bottle of milk tea she’d picked up for herself and then cracked it open with a twist of her hand, and then began drinking. After chugging down some part of it, she then set down the bottle on the table, before continuing, “What… what are you thinking of doing?”
She then cleared her throat, and then continued, “Let me rephrase that. What are you thinking of doing, now that you know that I’m telling the truth? Are you going to go back home and confront them yourself? Would you want me to come with you?It has been a while since I went back home for a visit,” she added, the irony heavy in her voice at the last few statements that she made. “I wonder what he… what they’d think of me now, having picked up a martial art while out on my journey. Who said becoming a well-known Coordinator was easy,” she added with a dry chuckle before cramming even more chips into her mouth. With what she’d told him; one thing was certain: there was something going on back home, and from the looks of things, she definitely did not like it one bit… not at all.“Maybe it’s time for the ‘prodigal kids’ to show up once more…” she added after another few moments of silence, chuckling to herself at the mental images her mind was conjuring up for her now.

Thomas listened as she told him that she severed ties with them in order to become independent. Honestly, a part of him didn't know how their mother felt about their favorite going off on her own, severing ties from them. But then, they must've done something to inspire Andrea to do it. Question was, would they end up driving off Sarah too?
Before he could answer her question, she rephrased the question. But even if he knew the truth, it still didn't change any of his plans. "I'm heading back home with the woman he forced me with behind my back in order to tell him just how we feel about this crap. And to be honest, I think that we'd have a better chance if we stood up to our father on our own. It sounds crazy, but the less he thinks we're hiding behind each other, I think the more he'll take us seriously. Besides, he was always about the 'strong', if you know what I mean....", Thomas told Andrea.
"But yeah, I would definitely say confront the bastard... I'll keep you posted though, I promise...", Thomas told Andrea.

“When are you headed back to Hoenn, then?” she began, after a few moments of silence and munching on some more of the plain, salted chips she was now digging out of the bag perched in her hands. “Let me know so that I can make plans and follow you a few days later so that our sudden ‘arrival’ in Lilycove doesn’t scare the pants off our…father,” she ended with a growl, shaking her head at the notion of what she was now imagining in the back of her mind. “So the girl they set you up with isn’t too happy about this, I presume,” she inquired a few moments later after shoveling another handful of chips into her mouth and chewing her way through it. “I mean, anyone wouldn’t be; especially when they find out they’ve been forced into some kind of ‘fixed marriage’. It’s completely and totally unfair.”
The reason why she knew about ‘fixed marriages’ was because of the fact that some of her fellow Coordinators had experienced something along those lines—one of her other friends was going to be carted away to another famous supermarket-chain tycoon; even if she just wanted to be with the simple backstage hand she’d met after one of their performances over in the Sinnoh region. “Unhappy love is worse than forced love, I’ll let you know—I’ve seen some people end up in arranged things like what…like what he’s forcing you into. End result is always ugly,” she ended, before grabbing the bottle of milk tea that she’d opened and took a few more sips from it, before returning it onto the table. “Just let me know how it goes so that it doesn’t look like we planned this together. You know how sharp the man is. And I hope that Sarah’s okay…” she trailed off, a look of concern crossing her face, her brows crinkling into something that resembled actual, genuine concern.

"In a couple of days, actually. I'm going to be setting out with this girl, 'Rain', and a male friend of hers.", Thomas told his older sister instantly. "Right, I'll tell you when I've arrived in Lilycove, and when I'm done attempting to 'reason' with the crazy bastard...", Thomas replied to Andrea.
When she asked if the girl was upset with this, the day he informed her came up in his mind. How before that, his angry attitude scared the shit out of the woman who manned the ground floor, even if completely unintended. And then the phone conversation he had with her mother, he could hear the yelling, and the crying that followed.
"Damn straight...", Thomas summed it up.
Thomas then listened to what she had to say about how much arranged marriages sucked. Telling him how such things: forced, unhappy, and loveless marriages for the sake of business never worked out well at all. "And bonus points for pulling this shit behind my back...", Thomas growled.
"Right, I'll make sure of it. Besides, I've had most of this down for a bit now. I'm just hoping that Rain's mom doesn't try to fuck us over for the sake of defending her little deal she's making...", Thomas replied to Andrea.
After a moment, one of the two Audino quietly stirred awake. He saw two people in the nearby room: one was the girl who brought over his new friends, and the other was his master, who was back home.
Suddenly, the sound of happy cries resonated quietly, yet noticeably through the nearby area, causing Thomas to turn his head to see his Audino, Pulse, was awake, and was getting ready to greet him. Thomas got up from the chair, and kneeled down, allowing the Audino to run into his arms, the two of them hugging each other affectionately.
"Did you miss me, little buddy?", Thomas asked the Audino, his mood going from bitterness and rage, to a seemingly complete turn to cheerfulness. The Audino cried out in conformation, while nuzzling his trainer sweetly. In response, Thomas started to pet the bipedal rabbit affectionately.
While the sudden change in attitude was strange, something about the Hearing Pokemon's presence calmed Thomas. The trainer came to bond with the pink and cream-colored Pokemon very quickly, and at this point, the two were almost inseparable.
“Well, I hope things go your way. Surely the other people who are affected by this little surprise arrangement aren’t taking it too nicely, I can tell,” she said, a few moments after hearing what was going to be going down in a few more days. “You know where to find me, I’ve got you covered,” she added before digging into the big bag she was now halfway done demolishing of its contents. After reaching for her bottle of milk tea, she thought she could hear something scuffling—and looked up just in time to see that one of the Audino—probably it was his, because she knew hers had a certain hair curl that she couldn’t get rid of no matter how hard she tried—was now in his arms; and she was quite surprised at the change that overtook her younger brother.
He was totally dripping rage earlier, now he’s such a softie, she thought with a grin on her face—and then she looked over at the living room and saw that her own Audino had rolled over and had apparently expected to bump into its look-alike, but instead hit dead air; which woke her up. “Ehehehe…” she began with a sheepish grin as she watched her own Audino, Maria, was now stirring because her own “fluffy teddy bear” (which apparently happened to be her brother’s Audino) was no longer beside her. “Au…” she heard the Hearing ‘mon cry out, before seeing that her caretaker was back. “Audinooooo!” she heard the pink blur cry out; and a few moments later her own Pokémon had bowled its way over to her, nuzzling against her leg. “Well, looks like it’s not just you who got the cute welcome home,” she said with a grin on her face, reaching down and giving Maria a good pat on the head.

As Thomas and Pulse were snuggling each other with little regard as to what his sister thought about how they interacted with each other, he could see a second Audino, one with a curl in its hair, awoke herself. She then ran up to her trainer, and started to greet her as well. It seemed like Andrea's tastes were pretty similar to his own. It made the trainer wonder who else in the family liked Audino as much as they did.
Speaking of which, Pulse walked over to greet the other Audino. If one could understand what they were saying, he'd be asking her how she slept.
Soon, the Marill who was asleep on the couch woke up, and saw her master was back home, along with the girl from earlier. Immediately, she bounced off the couch, and bounded towards her master. She then jumped into the arms of her trainer, and hugged him tightly, crying out happily at her master having returned home.
"I missed you too. I missed you all~", he told Bubbles as he snuggled the blue aqua mouse.
It was at this point that Maria was now snuggling herself quite aggressively into Andrea’s arms when she saw that there was another one headed her way—it was Claire, the Gothita who just loved to stare out at the night sky. Ever since she’d gotten the Gothita while travelling around the Unova region, she’d always notice that the black-and-white female Psychic-type always had this distant look in its eyes, no matter how many times she tried to catch her attention. I wonder what’s always making her act up that way… she thought idly as she watched the Gothita look around quite drowsily, and then noticed that the Audino in her hands had seemingly hopped off and was now talking with the other Audino—she noticed that unlike Maria, this one didn’t have a slight flair to its hair… so she could only guess if it was a male or a female.
As Maria started to converse with her male counterpart, Andrea then looked down in time to see that Claire was now slowly but surely tugging at her hand; as if unsure on how to get around this kind of… “interaction”. In response, the Coordinator then scooped up the Gothita and then began cuddling her with the same intensity as the Audino, cooing soft words into the Gothita’s ears; helping her relax and loosen up. Once she was done snuggling up with the Psychic-type, she then looked at her younger brother, who was now cuddling up with a blue mouse that had a round point for its tail. “You know, you look very cute doing that,” she said quietly, a huge grin on her face as she continued to observe the scene.

Before he knew it, Tena and Bliss were awake, and were both running up to the trainer. Thomas allowed the two to join in on the hug. At this point, he took turns petting and snuggling the three Pokemon that were currently in his company. Meanwhile, he saw that Andrea was watching him as she was cuddling up to her own Pokemon. However, he didn't comment on what she had to say to him. Instead, he was more focused on the Pokemon he had missed so much.
"Oh, if you need a place to stay for the night, there's a spare bedroom in here. It's the unmarked door in the hall towards the bathroom.", Thomas told his older sister.
After addressing his sister, Thomas continued to play with the cute trio of Pokemon that came to greet him. At this point, the Happiny was snuggling into his side, the Teddiursa on his shoulder, and the Marill was huddled up in his arm. Even after all the difficult talk, Thomas seemed to be at ease with his Pokemon.
