out there past men's knowing
Warner really was taking his merry time in there, wasn't he? Ten pokédots went to him having gotten stuck somewhere, probably trying to steal some shiny gem or some such thing, and needing her help to sneak free. What a dork. Yes, Unnur was quite certain that this was exactly what had happened, and couldn't repress the thought that Warner was seriously so lame. Not that it required much effort not to repress, mind you. He was pretty lame, after all.
Footsteps approached, but Unnur did not turn. Why would she? She already knew who it would be; after having been followed so many times by the same person in so short a time, Unnur was easily able to recognise those footsteps. This—the fact that she was getting accustomed to the redhead—would be one thing thirteen-year-old Unnur would never acknowledge. "Shut up," she demanded instead, trying to catch any sounds that came out from the other side of that door.
She didn't have to wait for long.
It was loud. Loud enough for both girls to hear. What was it, though? It sounded... It was like a loud thump, perhaps a shelf with all its heavy contents falling over, or maybe it was a someone that fell over? What if it was Warner that fell over? That huge dork.
Smoke slowly wafted out from below, from left, right, behind: everywhere. Now, the little Fletchling that had casually and unknowingly stepped into this spider's web was not particularly fond of bragging, but he had a good share of dangerous experiences throughout the past few months—mainly due to his involvement with the thirteen-year-old brat waiting outside—and by now was fairly adept at telling them apart from the less perilous, and the not perilous at all. This, Warner concluded, did not fit in the latter's category.
He rose into the air, flapped his light-coloured wings as he circled the room, hoping to get his reconnaissance job over with as quickly as he could. Little did he know that a Lampent, no less, was awaiting him. It waited 'til Warner was within viewing distance, and rapidly flashed its purple light in an attempt to scare the hell out of the intruder.
Luckily for Warner, the fire ghost had not been expecting a Normal-type opponent, and was left perplexed when it realised its attack had not damaged the Fletchling at all. But, while the attack had not hurt little Warner, it had indeed left him quite a scare, for which he would bolt upward and back outside.
100%
Warner used Agility (Speed +2). Gotta go fast.
100%
Five hidden Litwick used Smog. Wild Lampent used Astonish.

Arietta felt frustration towards herself immediately for her following behavior, even though the other girl would likely not see any of it.
The first thing she felt shame for was how quickly she was brought to saying crude curse words in her head when faced with the situation she found herself in now. She felt her face hot, her cheeks and forehead burning up with the anger she felt. Her mouth slightly opening.. it was apparent she was obviously just appalled at what she had said. Arietta had extended her kindness to this girl even though she hadn't deserved it. She had even remarked on her beauty in a positive light which was silly to do when such a pretty girl was already here outshining her, but she had done so!
Arietta stewed in that fury, her thoughts drifting not only to this moment but to previous moments with previous people who had so coldly shut the door on her as well.. but she was interrupted from those thoughts by the loud noise, making the girl jump due to the unexpectedness of it and the sudden change in atmosphere. So a Pokemon attack was happening.. so that's what she was here to deal with, correct? She had to show off her skills.. it was the only way to shut this girl up for good Arietta figured.
She burst forward without any of the strange subtley that the other girl had shown, moving her aside if she had to. If something was on the other side of the door, then all this staring seemed pointless. Whatever it was would have to do with the amazingness she and her Pokemon brought to the table. What greeted her was far too much smog however, and her beautiful lungs were appaled with the intruder into them. Only the best quality for her beautiful organs! Unfortunately their refusal left the girl coughing violently, ruining her grandiose entrance into the fray.
Misdreavus on the other hand was fine with the smog, other then the whole nasty vision obscuring aspect of it. Wether a ghost Pokemon like Misdreavus even breathed was something that was important to ask, but a question that likely didn't matter in the long run at the moment. Whatever the reason, the ghostly lady was just fine with surroundings.
Misdreavus made a pretty sound behind Arietta as it taunted the Pokemon around them. Not in a move sort of of way, just a challenging little taunt. She assured them of their awfulness at being scary, the wasted potential such a place had if the inhabitants of it were as unsubtle as they were. Misdreavus was making a guess of course, but such a lovely building would of course attract Pokemon like herself.. right?
What it was doing was making it annoying to see, Misdreavus couldn't quite tell where the Lampent was hiding. No matter.. she waited for the first sign of movement and sent a Shadow Ball towards her, her mouth curving in that devious smile as she built up the ghostly energy and compacted it, sending it flying in a dangerously fast trajectory towards the movement that she had noticed. It was very likely that the movement would turn out to be one of the Ghost Pokemon.. unless for some reason a silly bird zoomed back in front of her literally no reason.
You don't know them like I do
Confused if I should be posting for the wild Pokemon as well? It feels like the natural turn flow means I need to be doing an attack and then.. I just got confused. Are we giving the wild Pokemon extra attacks by us both letting them attack or are you going to handle that? We could just decide together over Skype if you would like.
Also I'm offically glad this thread will be happening in the month of October.

out there past men's knowing
Unnur stood speechless before the redhead's blatant act of stupidity. She frankly did not think the girl was that foolish until she barged into the suspicious room as if without a single care in the world. Nevermind the redhead, why on Earth had her own Pokémon allowed her to go on inside, in the first place? Were the two suicidal, or what? Unnur let out a frustrated snarl while one of her hands reached for a second pokéball. "Byrnison, bring that idiot out here, right now!" she ordered the polar bear that had, just then, materialised in front of her. The missing girl had left the door open in her hurry to encounter death, and both trainer and Pokémon immediately knew that the smoke coming out of that room was dangerous. Possibly poisonous. "Be careful," she added as an afterthought, even though she knew the warning was unnecessary. The Beartic nodded, covered his nose and mouth as instructed, and followed after the redhead.
Barely two seconds later, Warner returned. Unnur's eyes widened and a sparkle of relief lit up her previously worrystruck countenance. "Warner!" she gasped, as breathless as if she had been the one flying past obstacle after obstacle to reach the door. "Who's in there? Three...? What? Five or more? No trainers around?" The Fletchling nodded behemently, unable to even chirp a response. If there were no trainers behind this door, that meant it would be useless to stay long; but Unnur recalled what the other girl had said about her Misdreavus, and about the girl herself, and realised she couldn't just leave until Byrnison was back. Great. Oh! That did give her an idea, though. She let Warner position himself on top of her shoulder, the right shoulder, as he liked to travel, as she released yet another Pokémon: a Cloyster, this time.
"I need you to make some Spikes rise from the ground in the room nextdoors, Nori. You know which kind." Unnur, of course, meant all kinds. "We'd better wait until Byrnison comes out, though. Don't want him getting hurt." Implicitly, the young trainer was including the suicidal redhead in her plans, though she was just too baffled about her behaviour to do it verbally. Perhaps she'd just have Byrnison carry the walking hazard on his shoulders wherever they went, if only to keep her immobilised and out of trouble. At this point, Unnur saw her not as an ally, but as an unfortunate, volatile enemy she had to keep at bay at all costs.
Finding the girl was no difficult task for Byrnison. The erratic coughs coming out of her mouth as her lungs were filled with toxins would be a dead giveaway. In one swift movement, he stepped towards her coughing fit, swept the girl off her feet with one arm, and moved back towards the exit. The Misdreavus was largely ignored, despite her attack having hit the Beartic right on his back. Right now, rescuing this girl was priority, and the adrenaline rushing through his veins would allow him to feel almost nothing. For now, at least. The zone of his back struck by that sneaky ball of darkness would surely hurt a painful lot after this. The Beartic felt her struggle a bit, but it was nothing that big, powerful Byrnison couldn't handle. Before long, he and the whimsical damsel would be out of the candlelit room, and the Cloyster waiting outside could finally work on her part. A layer of Spikes and another of Toxic Spikes would teach them. Give them a spoonful of their own gross, distasteful medicine.
Unnur did not direct any words to the redhead, even after she was out and complaining on top of one of Byrnison's shoulders about being brought down. She was sure that the Beartic would obey if she really insisted on it, but she had more pressing matters to attend to. If ghosts were the ones behind this ambush, they'd be able to easily trespass this door—but, if they, for one reason or another, possessed physical bodies, they could be trapped inside. That would surely keep any Pokémon struck by Nori's Spikes out of the way. Confident that the latter wouldbe the scenario they found, given that the Pokémon hadn't immediately followed after the fleeing Warner, Unnur reached out to the polar bear. "Byrnison, give me your beard," she ordered. Her voice was calm. Unnur used the shard of ice she was handled to lock the door in place, not even once thinking about the Misdreavus still inside.
100%
Warner is so lame that he needs a Cloyster to come and use Spikes and Toxic Spikes; and a Beartic to use Icicle Crash.
???
Litwick have been trapped inside the room (Spikes and Toxic Spikes activated inside). Wild Lampent can and would be more than willing to follow the girls.

What the flying fudgedoodle!?
Sure she was coughing up a storm, but Arietta wanted nothing to do with a giant cold to the touch bear just deciding it would pick her up and carry her whever he pleased. Unfortunately for Arietta, when faced with that reality there was very little once could do to avoid it.
One might think that she might be kicking and screaming, how adorable would that be? Unfortunately that was not exactly what she was doing, whimpering like a scared little puppy was far more accurate to what was happening. She had largely gone limp.. trying her hardest to not set off the giant brute that now had her completely under her control. The poor thing heart had accelerated and she was so uncomfortable, but she most certainly wanted to live.
Eventually she was pulled from the smoke and back in the presence of the girl. Caught now between a balancing act of trying to remain calm and yet make sure this thing (the thing being Unnur) adamantly knew that what she was doing wasn't cool at all. "Hey, look.. kid.. I understand that you probably thought I was in trouble. I.. thanks and all.." she was interrupted from her speech by another cough, showing that she very much was in trouble at the time.. "But could you let me down? Now?" At this point she finally started to slightly struggle, trying to push away from Beartic, but still trying to keep an eye as to how agitated it got about it. "I have to check on my Pokemon.. especially since your just bombarding the room!" She said this, but she caught a glimpse of what the Cloyster was doing having been concerned about her Misdreavus. Whatever it was using, Misdreavus natural ability to Levitate would likely ignore what attacks it was using.
A loud crash followed, drawing Arietta's attention back at the now blocked room. What the hell was this girl doing?! This was the first thought the understandably cold girl had. Arietta had always thought she was heartless, but she would never abandon another trainers Pokemon to fend for themselves! Why were they just running away? Why weren't they fighting!? If she didn't think she could handle these Pokemon why did she even take this job?!
She was thankfully interrupted from this thought with the sight of Misdreavus rushing right through the wall and entering the hallway they now were. Arietta sighed in a relieved way. "Misdreavus are you o.." her words were interrupted again. Her Misdreavus had turned around to face the same part of the wall she had escaped from. The second the tell-tale sign of the Lampent appeared, using the same route in an attempt to chase down the fellow Ghost Pokemon, Misdreavus blasted it with a powerful Shadow Ball.
Lampent didn't have time to dodge the attack, but the Wild Pokemon wasn't about to go down without a fight. It sent a burst of flame energy right at the Misdreavus in return, deciding that if it was going to take a hit like that it could get off one of it's own. The two attacks both hit their targets, causing the Ghost Pokemon to make extremely frightening sounds of pain.. ghostly wails that seemed to echo along the walls of the damaged hotel. When the dust cleared, from Arietta's perspective it seemed as if Misdreavus had clearly come out of the exchange stronger for it. However Misdreavus didn't stay in it's position long, choosing to quickly to shift in it's position.. a faster Pokemon the most would figure and find some cover. It just so happened the nearest spot of cover was well.. Beartic.
Where Arietta was still dangling.. and she just realized that this was an extremely dangerous spot to be in. "Tell him to let me down before Lampent sends another fire attack!" she squealed, no longer being gentle about flailing and trying to wiggle away. Must. Escape. Fire.
You don't know them like I do
Misdreavus sent a powerful Shadow Ball attack at Lampent, dealing a critical 87% damage!
Lampent sent a Flame Burst attack at our heroine! 37% damage!.

out there past men's knowing
Having just finished locking the door, Unnur turned around to witness a sight she had already been expecting: that of the redhead coughing and complaining about being let down. Truthfully, she wasn't expecting coughing as much as she was expecting kicking and struggling, but the blue-haired trainer guessed she did end up staying inside the smoke-filled room longer than she should have. Minutia, all of that. What mattered was that the girl was out and Unnur and her team could finally move on. It was in that precise moment that her Fletchling, until then resting after a very tiring exploration trip on his rightful spot on her shoulder, alerted her of incoming danger. Two of the ghosts she had trapped inside were free to move between walls, and that was exactly what they were going to do if they did nothing to avoid it.
The girl's Misdreavus was followed by an animated lantern. Unnur watched. The two fired powerful spheres of energy at each other, and out of this exchange no clear winner was declared. Unnur watched her Beartic, specifically, and the girl still dangling on his shoulders. She watched him lower her to the ground, not gently, but not carelessly either, before taking on the Lampent's attack with his arms. Protect was truly a lifesaver. Lifesaver for the girl he was protecting, that is, for Byrnison was not going to play nice with this ghost after what it had done. With the same two arms he had used to block the Pokémon's fire, he grabbed the metallic-like sections of its body, and cracked them. Then, he used rocks to imprison its crooked body inside a lovely tomb, made just for it.
Lampent and company already dealt with, Unnur proceeded to recall her Pokémon—all but little Warner—back into their pokéballs. First Nori the Cloyster, then Byrnison the Beartic. No words of thanks were given, though she was certain that the two knew exactly how grateful she was for their company and help. Her Pokémon were, after all, some of the few creatures whose presence Unnur actually appreciated on a daily basis, sans a few exceptions. Like, for example, that day Warner ruined her lunch. The little robin had actually been trying to save her from a band of thugs, back then, but of course that was not what the young girl remembered. And then there was this redhead girl still hanging around. A frown in place, she asked, "What is your name?"
Post by Arietta Connally on Jan 2, 2015 19:18:01 GMT -5
Arietta gave a sigh of relief.. "Thank you.." she said, being set down. Misdreavus had zoomed in as well, something Arietta had noticed. There had been an intense sort of look on the Pokemon's face that she had never seen before. Had she been ready to attack the bear Pokemon herself if it hadn't been so cooperative?
Still, it was.. and Arietta really was thankful. "Really, thank you very much." She tried to smile at the Pokemon as it used Protect. "You're wonderful." At least something about the presence of this strange girl was wonderful. She was happy that she could count on the Pokemon themselves having sense.
Once things had settled down, Arietta and her Misdreavus started following the silent and yet still obviously unamused girl. What was her deal? Arietta couldn't exactly figure it out. It frustrated her to deal with someone like this. Someone so obvious uninterested and being around her.
Yet there she went, asking her for her name? Ugh. Could this girl pick? "Arietta." she said, which might have sounded a bit forced, but her tone quickly shifted into a softer.. if a bit tired sounding tone. "Look.. thanks. I am thankful for the help. Is there something.. like.. can we just like try to get along? I'm sorry if we got like, off on the wrong foot or something like that. Like.. gawd.."
She was frustrated. She wanted to make it work with this girl, and yet she couldn't read her. If she wanted nothing to do with her, why was she even asking questions a at all? If there was enough of a pause after saying this.. she would add in again. "So yeah.. thank you. If you want to tell me your name, you can. But if you would rather pretend I'm not here, I won't stop you. You know, other then by still being here.. because you aren't' getting rid of me either." She laughed for a moment.. but then paused, and then looked back.. towards the direction they were now walking away from.
"Is there any reason we are going this way and particular, and not the room where the ghost Pokemon were? I figure that them being around that area might mean there is something.. else there." she figured by now the smog and such would have been dealt with, hopefully. "Do you know the layout of this place? Did you bring a map or something?" she hadn't seen anything like that on the internet at least, when she had checked up on this mission before taking it.
You don't know them like I do
Arietta's dialouge was hard to write because she kept stumbling on what she wanted to say.

out there past men's knowing
Well, this wasn't exactly how Unnur had wanted things to go. She'd only asked for the redhead's name so that she could properly tell her to be more careful, as well as make a mental note not to engage with any Ariettas in the future, but what she got in return was not only what she asked for, ehich was the girl's name, but also a succession of sentences anyone else could have easily described as conciliatory. Not Unnur, though. Unnur just wanted to find those nasty thugs or whatever it was that she had to beat up, beat them up, and claim her rewards. Maybe have supper afterwards. It was getting late, after all. So, instead of recognising Arietta's sentiments like a good girl, she remained silent.
At some point, she caught her laughing at something or other. Something she'd said, most likely, because there was nobody else to say anything else. Unnur didn't get why, in all honesty, nor did she ask or care to know, but she at least let herself be followed.
"Warner had a good look inside that room before you stormed in. There were no humans inside," Unnur started, stopping on her tracks for a moment, to study her current surroundings. "If those ghosts had been working under anyone's orders, they wouldn't have let out poisonous smoke out so carelessly, in the first place." She wondered where the kitchen was. She wondered where all those crazy trainers were, too. She wondered if the new occupants had somewhere to store their food, because she sure would want a good place like that, if she were to stay in an old, broken-down hotel like this. "Smoke travels rapidly."
Unnur had no map and, evidently, no reason to be following the path she was taking other than her gut feeling and desire to get this mission over and done with. It had to be done as soon as possible so that she could finally eat, which meant there was no time to waste hanging around the same old rooms, but of course she was not going to tell the Arietta girl that. Why would she? They barely knew each other, and Unnur felt no need to share with anybody other than herself every thought that passed through her mind, anyway. As she progressed farther and farther inside the haunted hotel's aisles, she kept her eyes open for any other signs of recent activity, but she would find none. Instead, she found a way up that was thankfully not blocked like the last.
"Careful where you step," would be all she said before she ventured up a set of stairs. Emergency stairs, judging by their size and location. Unnur was stranged she had not noticed these stairs on their way here, but chose to pay it no mind.

Arietta gave this girl another one of those long looks. The kinda long sort of look that she gave to people that were poking her buttons ever so softly. The people that tried her patience, but kept her from outright blowing up at her.
For instance, how did she know Warner had not seen any humans? She hadn't seen any sort of signal. The girl was embarassed a bit about the situation, and in her flustered state felt it was rather unfair of her to recongize they had some sort of wierd language or something. (Or simply that she had missed the questioning.)
To try to save face, Arietta mumbled a little.. "Unless they had gas masks.." hey, it was a thought wasn't it? Still, it was hard to deny that Unnur was probably right. No one was chasing after them after all.
"I.. I will!" Arietta said, still a bit embarrassed about this entire situation. Here she was, a completely self-respecting young teen.. and she was letting this girl treat her like a child. She was following along like some.. kind of follower. Arietta wanted to be a leader! Arietta was a tend-setter! A future star!
Once Arietta had done and well mirrored her ghost ladies melodramatic attitude, it was time to move onto being a mischievous sort of girl. "You watch yourself too." she said, keep close behind her. "I'll catch you if you lose your step though." that smile she flashed her was certainly a bit impish. The sort of teasing face that friends shared amongst each other though, it was friendly enough.
Still, something about this whole situation wasn't right. There was something about the layout of this place that almost seemed purposefully confusing. Of course Ghost's had made their home in this place, who had originally designed such a confusing building! Arietta glanced backwards towards the hall behind her.. not wanting to admit to her companion that she wasn't quite sure she could figure out the way back out so easily.
She quickly turned when she heard a sort of a bump. Soft.. she heard it a few times. Almost like someone was knocking on a far away wall. She wanted to speak... but was afraid to giving away her location. Who else was here? Had the atmosphere just caused her to imagine it?
You don't know them like I do
It's probably just her girlish heart beating loudly in her chest..
It wasn't quite knocking. Rather, it was the dull rhythm of boredom.
Taline was bored with this task, and even the barest of noises from her two sleeping Pumpkaboo couldn't hold her attention. Wait here until I return, the boss had said. Well, that was just fine and dandy, but it didn't stop the fact that it had been a whole hour since the boss had called - flipping through her phone's call and text history showed her that it was solely from one number, the chick she worked for. Such a bossy one, she was, and always typed in that horrendous caps. Taline cringed lightly at remembering what her fate might be if they didn't keep this house empty of people.
She thumped her head back again, and then paused, eyes closed. It almost sounded like someone was on the stairs. Maybe on the stairs? That creaking could honestly be anything in this forsaken place. It might even be some of those wild ghosts they had to keep shoving downstairs - the upstairs was, thankfully, more human-friendly. It would be easy enough to go and check the stairs for those Lampent; it was right out the hall on the right. She was just sitting in the least-ruined room she could find, which was located beside the stairwell. A nice little location to pretend to do the work her boss gave her.
Eh, might as well. The short stack of woman pulled herself upright, hoping the face paint she gave herself wouldn't smear as she rubbed her eye. The boss's idea, of course, was to try to look the part - a little bit of scary facepaint tended to seal the deal. She made no effort to be quiet as she took eight long steps to the door, popped it open, and stuck her head into the hall and looked down the stairwell.
Unnur Liefsdóttir & Arietta Connally, if this isn't enough to work with, let me know. tl;dr one of the biker's trainers just opened a door near the top of the stairs and poked her head out.
