As they walked into the pancake house, Josh would look over at Angel and smile at her question. Ah, perhaps he had misunderstood her. Of course, he had forgotten that children were often given sweeties for being good, and once again he had forgotten that Angel was still a child, even if she was a traveling Trainer just as Josh was. Or, he supposed so anyway. He couldn't tell. Regardless, he would turn and look over at her.
"Maybe I misunderstood" he admitted with a laugh. "Aye, I give my Pokemon sweeties sometimes. I don't punish them when they're bad by taking their food away, because to them, sweets and treats are just like any other food to them, but it's new food, it's really good tasting food, and they love it. If I'd take it away from them just because they're not being good, then they'll think I'm starving them because of a behavioral issue, or I'm letting the others have more then them, and they'll think I don't like them anymore. I'm... Not one to break my Pokemon's hearts, you see, so I don't do that. Me being cross with them when they're misbehaving's punishment enough" he explained with a small smile. "Again, they're used to me being forever kind and gentle with them. If I'm any bit different then that, they'll get upset. They're not used to anything else. So they try to avoid that. Of course, some get rebellious at times, and some... Like Lightning, have a sense of justice that effects their judgement. Lightning made a judgement call pertaining to what he thought was the right thing" he added.
He smiled and led her into the pancake house. Within a couple of minutes, they had been seated in an area obviously meant for Trainers and their team of Pokemon to enjoy a meal. It was a ways away from the civilian seating, likely so they wouldn't disturb people, and their little setting was big enough to fit quite a few Pokemon.
With orders placed, Josh would pluck his Pokeballs from his belt and smiled over at Angel. "Alright Angel, you ready?" he asked. He knew she was excited to see his team, and he was happy to deliver. "Angel, meet... Inferno!" he said as he clicked one Pokeball, and the Quilava from the day before would pop out, regarding Angel with a polite nod and smile. "Vulcan!" he said as another ball would open to bring out a Combusken, with a glimmering sheen about him as he came out. The Combusken seemed to take on a different tint then most, but Josh didn't bring it up. "Combusken!" Vulcan let out in greeting. Josh smiled a bit. "Bastilo!" he called as the next Pokeball would bring out a shell that spinned across the floor, before a Squirtle would pop out, waving to Angel. "Squirtle!"
Josh laughed a bit. "Ah, he loves showing off" he said. "Of course, you know Lightning" he said as Lightning hopped off his shoulder to be with his fellow Pokemon. "Pika!" he chirped. Josh chuckled and released another Pokeball. "Vector!" he called as a Croconaw would pop out of this next Pokeball, and the Croconaw would overenergetically wave full blast with two hands toward Angel. "Croc!" he let out before... Slipping and landing on his rear end on the floor. "O-naw...." he let out before Bastilo helped him up, then it was like he had never slipped as he was back to his usual self.
Josh grinned, and pulled out the last Pokeball. "Thank god this place is huge. And good they gave us a large bit of room. This one's a doozy! Come on out, Fawkes!" he called as he tossed the Pokeball. It would pop out to bring to the party... A Charizard! And a hefty big one too! Fawkes was... Well, a "bit" bigger then most Charizard. He was at least 8 feet tall. He let out a roar in greeting and curled up alongside Inferno to wait for their waffles to come.
To be honest, at this point he was confusing her a little.. so the matter was pretty much dropped. His words brought more questions to mind, questions she didn't feel like lingering on very long. Not when pancakes were the more immediate concern.
They walked in the restaurant and the sights and sounds immediately brought smiles to the young ladies face. She took a glance over at the other people in the restaurant, and caught the eye of a woman as she did. Not the same woman from before, a much older woman who waved at her. She waved back.. friendly people. She turned around and followed Josh to their sitting area.
There was an obvious look of excitement and wonder on her face she watched him introduce all of his friends. They were all so very different, they made her feel excited! First was Inferno, the Pokemon she had already met but was still so very unique to her. Seeing it again in this context made her re-examine it, give it an exciting second look.
"Inferno looks handsome!"
The next was a Combusken... it was like a bird except it looked different from other bird Pokemon that she knew! That was right, he was going to meet Wonder Bird. She almost shifted with excitement at this recollection, but actually managed to contain herself and focus her attention on the Pokemon in question.
"Vull-can." she said, nodding. "He looks tough!"
He sure did name his Pokemon interesting things, she thought as he brought out his next friend. A turtle looking Pokemon that looked ready for action! There was an energy it had that she found so..
"So cute! Bas...tleon?" This name was harder to remember exactly the way he had spoken it.
She smiled a the Pikachu. She honestly found them cute, she really did. She was happy that Lightning had come to her rescue and cared about him. However there was a feeling that Lightining reminded her of. Fear. It reminded her of the time that she had been attacked by those Pokemon in that cave. That Pokemon could want to hurt you.. and so easily be able to. She respected the power that the Pikachu had now. Lightining might be her friend.. but once again remembered that there was always a chance the next Pokemon could be like the Pokemon in the cave.
"Lightning is nice." she said, smiling her biggest smile possible. She really didn't want to seem ungrateful..
His next water Pokemon was also like the one from before, energetic and excitable! It brought out simiiar feelings in her, very much loving meeting all these new Pokemon. She had been waving to each one, and matched the energy in his wave.. thankfully managing to avoid matching the falling on the butt part. Although if she it wouldn't have been out of character for her. "So energetic!"
The last Pokemon was the kind of cool that was hard to put into words. So big and powerful! "A dragon!" she said, smiling. That's what it looked like to her, and she was very impressed. She had only seen one other big Pokemon like that before.. it was with her right now even although she wouldn't be bringing it out to say hello.
"You have so many friends! Where did you meet them? Are they all boys?"

Josh smiled as he watched as Angel would get friendly glances from older folks. It was nice to see her being treated friendily by strangers instead of getting shit from that grumpy old witch. Josh still felt like giving that woman a piece of his mind if he saw her again... He didn't think having a Pikachu jump to Angel's defense was enough, it seemed. He chuckled as Angel would speak of each of his Pokemon.
He laughed a bit at her bit to Inferno. "That he is" he said, patting Inferno's head. "And he's going to be a big and strong Typhlosion, I just know it. He's been training hard. He'll do very well" he added.
"Vulcan, aye" he said, nodding as the giant chicken looked over at her. "He's a tough one. Been with me for a long time"
"Bastilo. Ba. Baaaaasssss. Tee-Lo. Tee-Lo. Bastilo" he said, trying to show her how to pronounce it. "You'll get it" he said with a laugh.
"Pika!" Lighting chirped toward her compliments. Josh laughed a bit. "It seems Lightning thinks you're nice too!" he chirped with a grin.
He chuckled at her reaction to his energetic Croconaw. "Oh, he's energetic alright. He's also gonna get real big. Feraligator are really big Pokemon, and he's just an evolution away" he said.
Up next was Fawkes. "Yep, this one just evolved recently" he said with a small smile. "Funny thing. He's actually a Fire/Flying type. Not a dragon type. But he looks like the traditional dragons you find in the stories" he explained. "I wonder why he was never classified as a dragon type... Kind of odd, if you ask me" he admitted.
He nodded at her next question. "Aye, they are" he said. "But not all of them that I own are. I have a few girls back at the ranch. The most recent girls I caught were a Bulbasaur and an Axew.
"Hmm... Let's see..." he said. Guess it was story time.
"Well, Inferno was given to me by a very close friend of mine" he explained. "Her name's Izumi, she gave me Inferno so that he could be strong like his mother and brother. Obviously, he was just a little thing when I got him, but look at him now, big and strong" he said with a laugh.
"Vulcan... Well, you see Angel, Vulcan was my first Pokemon" he revealed. "We've been through a lot together. Hours of training, hours of time spent on the road together, just me and Vulcan. And the funny thing is, Vulcan is a rare breed of Combusken. He's got a different coloring scheme" he explained. "Not one you see too often, I gotta admit"
"Now Bastilo... Funny story, you see this also includes Fawkes" he said, motioning to the Charizard. "You see, I caught Bastilo and Fawkes as Squirtle and Charmander in different trips to the Safari Zone. But Fawkes is a hothead, he's a serious sort. Loves to battle, but he can lose his temper real quick and attack. Would hardly listen to a word I said. But then we met this Squirtle on our next visit, when I went with Fawkes. Fawkes's temper got the best of him and he attacked the Squirtle, and I got hurt when they started fighting, pretty bad, I gotta admit" he said, shaking his head. "I got stabbed with some sharp sort of plant, pierced me right through. Fawkes saw that, and he got incredibly angry. He just boiled over, all because I got hurt. He evolved into Charmeleon, and took down Squirtle. I managed to compose myself and catch him, and now Bastilo is a proud member of the team" he explained.
"Vector.... Safari Zone as well. I caught him after Inferno battled him to the finish. He and Bastilo actually hated each other at first" he said. "But they started training together and trying to one up each other, then they each saved the others life when things got hairy, and they became best friends"
"Now Lightning... I think I told you the story" he said with a laugh. "I saved his life when he was an itty bitty baby, freezing to death, his mama was gone so he couldn't defend himself against the cold and the bad people there, so I took him in and nursed him back to health. He ended up becoming the first pokemon I ever caught"
Angel Dalton just loved hearing stories about Pokemon and just stories in general. She was a girl who spent so much time enjoying stories in her youth, watching various television programs and the like. It was crazy to see people who actually lived such interesting stories though!
She had actually managed by some magic that should be bottled and sold to parents everywhere to stay quiet during his little talk. However once he finished everything he head to say she burst like a chatty volcano!
"Wow! My first Pokemon was Ribbon! And Wonder Bird! But Ribbon was first first!" she said, although just saying these names gave not much of a clue as to who or what Wonder Bird was still. Ribbon was obviously the Gothita.. now Gothorita that he had already met! One meeting was already over with, and it was such an eventful one to already know!
To be honest Ribbon the Gothorita had only been first by a few days, but those days were very important memories in the girl who acted even younger then he already young age. They were deep and fresh even after all this time. 4 whole years.
The second thing that she just had to say was even more important. "Izumi! I know a girl named that! She was really cool when she beat me in the tournament!" she said, smiling wide. It actually was the same person, although if this revelation would fully come to light would remain to be seen.
But wow, this person was going all over the world, catching so many cool Pokemon, having all these stories and even saving Pokemon's lives! "You're the coolest! Cooler then cool!" He felt like a superhero to her, and she had such a passion for those.

Their pancake order would arrive, both for Josh, Angel (And possibly Ribbon) and for Josh's team, who he had brought out for good eats. As they ate, Josh would listen to the stories that Angel had to bring to the table in response to his own, and he smiled and nodded along, remaining quiet and focused in order to allow her to tell her stories without interruptions.
She knew Izumi, hm? Finally, he spoke. "You know Izumi then?" he asked. "She's been a big help for me since I met her soon after I first came to Hoenn. Whether it's discounted food at her families restaurant in Lavaridge, discounts for buying Pokemon eggs via her associates, for me to raise... To having my back when it comes to missions, as well as helping me learn about a special trainer trick and all that jazz, she's been there for me and me for her" he said with a small smile.
He laughed a bit at her praise. "Hey, I'm just another ordinary Trainer" he promised. "But... Maybe sometime I'll give you a call, and I can bring you to my families ranch to see all my Pokemon?" he asked. "It's just near Littleroot"
The food was pretty much what the young lady could have hoped for, and her mood certainly seemed to have perked up to the point that she wasn't worrying about the little things. It was hard to remain sad when surrounded by a new friend and some Pokemon friends after all. The sweet treat was tasty, although she couldn't help but worry a little bit about the sweets she was eating so much of these days. Didn't the other girls once tell her that you could fat by eating lots of sweet things? That seemed unfair.. "I would really like that!" she said, in response to his comment. She forgot if they had gotten each others phone numbers the day before, but either way the situation would be dealt with she was sure. It was really nice to have breakfast together. She looked over at her new Gothorita.. the fact that she had evolved was still such a strange thing that had happened. She was really surprised about it still... but a Gothorita still smiled the same way Ribbon always did when she smiled at her. So in the end.. Ribbon was Ribbon.
That was what was important. She felt so anyway.
She couldn't believe that this person had met the lady she had met before too. Hoenn was smaller then Unova.. or something. "She was really cool!" she said, "And really nice! Do you wanna be her boyfriend?" Like Izumi before, topics quickly shifted to relationships.. a topic the growing girl was increasingly giving attention to.

The food was delicious, both for people and Pokemon. Josh was in a good mood, and it seemed so was Angel. The thoughts about that rude old bat from earlier had all but disappeared as Josh took pleasure in scarfing down this meal. Damn, he needed to come here more often! How else would he get to eat such great pancakes in the morning? Looking over, his Pokemon were enjoying the pancakes he had bought them as well. They had all worked hard and trained hard, they deserved the meal more then he did, he thought. And even better, Angel seemed to be much happier now, much moreso then when she had almost had her dress ruined before by a cup of joe. Luckily, Josh had managed to avert disaster, but that was behind them now.
To his offer she accepted, and he smiled in response, nodding. "Alright" he said as he put his pancake down to write down his phone number, which he would slide to her just in case. He couldn't remember if he'd given her his or not... But it would be good to take care to make sure. Could never be too careful, after all. "I'll call you when I'm there next, and I can give you directions... Or I could just meet you somewhere and fly you there myself" he said, motioning to the Charizard scarfing down pancakes.
To her mentioning Izumi, he blushed a bit, scratching his head. "Uhh... We don't have that kind of relationship" he said, hoping Angel wouldn't pursue the topic. His relationship with Izumi was.... Difficult to describe. He wasn't sure what they were, if anything besides incredibly close friends.
The taste of pancakes was hard to be sad while enjoying and of course eventually Angel's mind slipped away from the guilt from before and into more comfortable things. Conversations about relationships intrigued her yet again, inspiring her and making her want to talk about them more.. which was honestly the last thing that the person on the other side of the table wanted.
However it wasn't quite their relationship that was the target of the girl's thoughts, no.. it was back to Izumi. She had been thinking about the topic a lot since she had met the lady, and eventually she spoke her thoughts. "Do you think maybe she likes girls, but doesn't wanna say?" It was quite an assumption for a young girl to make after only hearing that she had avoided a relationship with two guys, but she was a girl of the modern era. Always wondering about these things and worrying someone is scared.
Ribbon was already done, and looking a bit dazed. She had spent so long in one way of life though, that the sudden change in her body was still a lot to get used to though! She also just was unfortunately so uninterested in their conversation.
"Oh and call! Call a lot!" She couldn't leave it without saying that, it was important. She was always excited to get calls on the road.

The taste of pancakes sadly didn't distract from this relationship talk. Josh really wasn't a fan of talking about it, but... If it made Angel happy, why not, he supposed. Josh had forgotten about the rude woman and her stupid obsessed with being rude... And a meanypants.... And a coffee freak. He hoped she got zapped by more Pikachu AFTER the fact. Sadly, Angel seemed hell bent and inspired on talking about relationships. Josh hadn't even really considered getting into a relationship... He was a traveling Trainer. Constantly on the road. What time did he have to entertain a girlfriend without letting her down? Or letting down a family, even?
Josh almost choked on his pancakes when she asked if Izumi liked girls. No, he highly doubted Izumi liked girls... She actually seemed quite fixated on him... And/Or her old redhead friend that she was once obsessed with... But he wasn't going to tell Angel THAT. How did a girl her age even THINK about someone liking anything other then their opposite gender, anyway? She was still the age to be thinking that boys were icky and had cooties, for gods sake!
But, perhaps he was behind on the times. This was 2014, the modern era after all... As much as he hated to admit it. The world was overrun with swagfags and teen pregnancies and all kinds of other atrocities. The morals and values he grew up on were mud now in this day and age, and he had to accept that. What he lived on, grew up on, had nailed into his skull? Garbage. Old news. Old times. Nothing. Mud. Vanilla. Gone.
He chuckled a bit as he finished his pancakes. "Aye, we talk on the phone almost every single day" he promised. "We're very close. Really"
He would dig for his wallet before looking down at the bill. He would shrug and pay for their meal casually.
"I got her phone too, but I'm so very nervous about being buggy! I don't want her to wish I didn't call ever!" The mannerism in which she said this was warm and casual enough, a mood that was still inspired by friendship and pancakes. "I.. really don't wanna is all." She said, emphasizing her point. Was she nervous about her point itself being seen as wierd? She was a little.. she had been worried for a bit now about the way she felt about things. Josh really hadn't seemed to like the way she had felt about the Coffee Incident before.
Thinking about that made a feeling in her stomche bubble, and she stood up. Her pancake plate was empty, but the sudden shift in movement shocked her Gothorita, who had been a bit dazed from her sudden transformation. Ribbon was worried about something too, a fact Angel had yet to notice. Maybe in time.
"Thank you for having breakfast with me." she said, and she gave a sweet little curtsey in the dress she was wearing. A habit she had gained from her parents, but it at least was adorable. So there was some old-fashioned aspects to her as well.

Feel free to do any finishing of the thread you were intending.

He chuckled a bit. "Oh I'm sure you'd be just fine if you called her" he promised. "She's a nice girl, yknow? She won't blow you off, don't worry about it" he said. "We talk on the phone... Just about daily" he admitted, shrugging. It was true, he realized. Most days, he usually got a phone call from Izumi at some point during the day, either checking in or to pursue their quest for training and mega evolution. They wanted to become stronger trainers, and become stronger with their Pokemon. And they wanted to unlock the power of Mega Evolution for their Pokemon, to unlock their true potential.
He smiled at her thanks and nodded as he started returning his full Pokemon to their balls, besides Lightning. "Anytime. Thank you for having breakfast with me" he thanked with a bow in response. "I'm sure I'll see you soon. Feel free to call if you wanna do this again" he said as he turned to walk out, looking back at her and smiling wide. "I'll make time for you, I promise. Don't hesitate to call if you wanna do this again" he said, before waving and heading out to continue his journey.
