There was a moment where Angel Dalton almost was about to bring up Maxine. Hearing about another person always intrigued Angel. She was a social girl who loved to meet new friends. This guy knew a girl? Questions quickly formed in her mind. Thoughts of wanting to know what kind of person this guy had traveled with. How old was she? Where they a couple? Could she meet her? Why did they stop traveling together.
Josh was lucky however that he had chosen to remind her of the camera sitting her hands. "Oh. I was thinking I could take them when you show your Pokemon. We're gonna do that tomorrow right?" she gave him another smile. It was a simple way of asking well.. pretty much the same question she had already asked. At the same time she was also a bit confused about what stuff they were doing then.
Would the pancake place not mind them bringing a bunch of Pokemon? She knew Ribbon liked pancakes.. suddenly Angel glanced over to the new Ribbon. Wait. Did Ribbon still like pancakes?

It was good she hadn't. Things like that would likely only cause sadness for the blonde. He tried not to think about the people he lost, but Maxine was the only person he had ever really traveled with at this point (Red came after this thread, of course).
He smiled a bit at her answer and nodded. "Yeah, that's fine, of course" he said. Hopefully they wouldn't mind, but since Pokemon were a common thing around these parts, he would be quite surprised if they minded whatsoever. They likely had some kind of area where you could let out your Pokemon for pancakes. Most of the Pokemon he brought with him were decently small, so it shouldn't be TOO much of a problem anyway.
"Anyways, it's best we get some rest" he said with a small smile, playfully ruffling the hair of the child. "We'll be either in the Pokemon Center in the morning, or we'll be just outside doing some training" he said. "If we're not in either, you probably got up too early and we're sleeping like lazy bums" he joked with a cheeky grin. "We'll see you in the morning, kiddo. Have a good night" he said, bidding her farewell as he waved and headed to the Pokemon Center. "Pika-Pikaaaaa!" Lightning chirped as he waved goodbye to Angel and Ribbon from Josh's shoulder. "Quiiiiilllll-Avaaaaa!" Inferno chirped as well in farewell before following them into the Pokemon Center.
After awakening, showering and dressing, Josh would crack his neck as he stepped out of his room in the Pokemon Center, with his Pokeballs on his belt. The only Pokemon out right now was Lightning, who had quite frankly refused to stay in his Pokeball that night. It'd become a habit of Lightning's that Josh had become accustomed to. Besides, if he didn't allow it, he'd just let himself out of his Pokeball at random whenever he wanted to anyway, which he did quite often regardless. Lightning was never in his Pokeball for very long, Josh found.
The two walked out of the room and looked around, and Josh wondered if they had gotten up too early for Angel, or if she was busy herself. They decided to take a seat on the bench together to wait for her a bit, planning to get some training in if she didn't show anytime soon. Best they do SOMETHING while they waited, right?
In the meantime, Josh took out a gaming device he'd been saving for such an occasion and turned it on, and started playing a game casually. Lightning climbed onto Josh's shoulder for the pure sake of getting to see what he was playing.
Angel Dalton had waved goodbye to Mister Josh rather simply, with only a bit of worry that he totally wouldn't show up like he said he would.
"Let's go home Ribbon!" she said, which gave her new Gothorita a happy expression on her face. The idea of getting away from this man and his adorable Pokemon pleased her, and she.. jumped upwards and into Angel Dalton's arms.
Angel immediately was straining at her new Pokemon's.. dimensions. About half of her height and a decent enough weight, Gothorita was a much harder Pokemon to just hold. "R-Ribbon.. you might be too b-"
Immediate there was a sad expression on Ribbon's face. Sometimes Angel didn't know what her Pokemon were saying but this time it was pretty impossible to not hear it. It was obvious that Gothorita didn't want to hear that she was too big to be held by her trainer. This was her spot! Her favorite spot!
So unfortunately the sweet 10 year old was force to carry her heavier Pokemon princess style back to the Pokemon Center where they would sleep.
--
It didn't take too long for her to find them. She was an early to bed, early to rise kind of girl.. she would have been waiting at the meetup spot really early had she not been dressing herself up.
Dressed up was certainly the right word for it.. it was actually a bit more of a costume. It was obvious that Angel Dalton was a girl who didn't have that many boundaries growing up.. "Hey Mister Josh! It's me!" she cried out, slightly hustling closer to him now that he was in plain view. She didn't seem to have any Pokemon out anymore, at least no Pokemon could be seen around her at the moment.

"Hm?" Josh mused as he looked up from his game to see Angel in... Well, quite a getup. It took him a second to process what the poor girl was wearing. But if that was how young girls liked to dress up these days, no skin off his ass. Josh meanwhile, hadn't really... Dressed up for the occasion. He was wearing that leather jacket again, with the blue t-shirt, black pants, black steel-toed boots, black gloves, and the scarf on his neck that looked just like the one that the Pikachu on his shoulder was wearing. It was odd to see a fully grown man and a Pikachu wearing almost matching clothing, but hearing the story behind it you'd find out that it was a testament to the bond that they shared.
He smiled a bit as she came over. "Good morning, Angel" he said, turning his game off and putting it away, much to the Pikachu's chagrin, who had gotten quite interested in Josh's game playing. Of course, he knew Josh noticed the expression on his face and would make it up to the Pikachu later. He always did. It only took a look from Josh to signal a promise to do so. But on the bright side, he remembered something about pancakes!
Josh got up, the Pikachu still on his shoulder, and smiled a bit. "You ready to be heading out then?" he asked.
Angel had just now noticed the game he was playing. She loved video games! She wanted to know what he was playing, but first she had to respond to what he already said. "Yeah! I am! You were playing something weren't you? Did I make you wait long?"
Despite being full of morning energy and equally full of questions, she still looked ready to walk and started off. She had actually spent a few days in this city and was slowly starting to get used to it.
"There is a place real close that has really good pancakes! I think so! They smelled really good!" that was her way of saying she had yet to eat there, but on her way to the giant mart the day before she had smelled them and had decided she really wanted to go. She had remembered to bring her purse this time, slipped around her shoulder.
She smiled at the world around her as they walked and she did start to smell all sorts of interesting morning smells. Today was a really good day! She had dressed up because she was feeling so excited! She was getting some interesting looks, though none of them were negative.. it's not that she looked bad. She just was dressed a little showy.

He chuckled a bit. "No worries" he promised. "We weren't waiting long. Just a couple of minutes. Lightning gets impatient so I tried to keep him occupied, since he loves watching me play this game. Actually, you came too early, he wanted to watch me play a little longer" he said with a laugh as he patted the Pikachu on the head.
"Is there now?" he asked when she mentioned an establishment. He didn't normally go out for pancakes so he didn't usually look. Guess they would just have to find out, wouldn't they? Josh was always on the move, so he really only got to see an establishment or two per city most of the time. This was a nice change, he supposed.
"Well, lead the way" he said with a smile as he got up, seeing she'd already started off. He decided to just follow her since she knew the place.
"Of course!" she said, her voice having a natural giggly flair to it. Anyone could see that this little angel was in a really chipper and excited mood. This was the first time she got to see a friend two days in a row like this! What was to not love?
The plaza that Angel had been thinking about yesterday, the plaza that contained the pancake restaurant was actually the go to place for breakfast around the town. Lots of people going in the area and then leaving to go about their jobs. Angel Dalton and her fluffy outfit was getting enough attention, although most of her own attention was focused on Mister Josh.
"What game does he like? Does he play sometimes?" she guessed that a Pikachu could try to play a game anyway. It would be so cute to see! "Can I see when we get to the restaurant? Doesn't it smell so good?" She had turned around to speak with him for a moment and wasn't quite looking where she was going however, which turned out to be a bad then when she suddenly felt her back slam right against another person.
The person in question was a business woman who had just purchased a.. cup of coffee. Although it's lid was on.. Angel not looking where she was going caused the coffee to slip from her hands and before anyone could possibly stop it the cup of hot coffee landed.. right on Angel's head.
Angel's voice shrieked loudly as the extremely hot coffee burst out of the cup and got on to of her head. She pulled herself away from it and it landed on the ground, although the second that the coffee had burst on the girl's head the woman had backed away.. avoiding really anything but a few drops on her.
The girl who was so chipper before now looked positively miserable. She was whimpering as she ran her hands through her hair, her head feeling burned and in pain.. only to then notice that the coffee dripping from her head was landing right on her fancy little dress. She looked so distraught when she realized that, trying to avoid getting anymore of that oh-so-staining liquid on one of her favorite dresses. "Noooo!" she cried as if the words would somehow summon the coffee away but it didn't. Her eyes were tearing up again, looking about as sad as she did when she had first met him.
The woman did look guilty for a moment because it obviously hurt, and concerned.. but once it was obvious the girl didn't need serious medical attention she gave a bit of a huff.. "That'll teach you to look where you're going then, won't it?" she said. She didn't wait for a reply either, heading back quickly in the store to get another cup. She decided they were lucky she didn't ask them to pay for her replacement.. but that felt a bit much considering the circumstance.

Josh was happy to see the girl in a chipper mood. It brought him joy to see a child so young on the road constantly yet able to keep in great spirits like Angel had. It instantly brought a smile to the blonde's face as he followed her, Lightning happily being carried along on his shoulder. "Pikachu~" he chirped happily.
Then the questions came. Josh chuckled as he began to answer them in bulk. First question. "It's a game where you go on a big journey in a big world with a sword wielding Pikachu with a green hat on, and you go through these dungeons and beat enemies so you can defeat the evil monster and save the Princess" he explained. "Lightning tries to play Legend Of Pikachu 6 sometimes, but he's not used to the controls or how to play so he usually just watches me so he can learn how to play. He loves it. Can't resist looking over my shoulder whenever I take my gaming system out" he responded to question two.
He smiled to question three. "Sure!" He said. "Just be prepared for Lightning to fight for a spot to watch too" he half joked with a grin. He took a whiff at question 4. "That it does" he responded. "I imagine we'll be there soon then?" He asked curiously with his bright brown eyes scanning the area.
The next thing he saw and heard though, was coffee being spilled on Angel's head, and the screams of pain, followed by the screams from Angel after it got onto her hair and dress. And he could tell right there that it was a dress she was incredibly fond of. Josh's first concern was her safety, of course, but once he realized she wasn't hurt too bad, he leaned down to comfort her. "You alright?" He asked, with a sigh. "Listen, we'll take you back to the Pokemon Center. Leave the dress with me, and go fix yourself up. I have a spray that'll help make it good as new" he promised. "I know, because since I have so little room for clothes in my pack, that I don't really have very many pairs of clothes on me. While a full wash is better in terms of full cleaning what this will at least do is get out any stains and smells from the coffee. I'll iron it out and fix it up afterword, and it'll be good as new, and we can go right back for pancakes" he promised, shooting a nasty glare behind Angel's back at the business woman when she made the rude retort. Josh wasn't the only one who took offense.
"Come on, let's get you back to the Center" he said with a small smile as he took her hand. That's when he realized Lightning wasn't on his shoulder. He quickly looked around. "Lightning?" He called curiously. "Where are-"
That's when he found him staring down the businesswoman, who was making her exit quickly to head back to the coffee shop. Josh noticed immediately his cheeks were sparking.
"Oh shi-" he almost slipped out. "Lightning..." He scolded. "Don't do it"
Lightning wasn't listening. The moment Lightning went "Pika..." In preparation, Josh instantly wrapped his arms around Angel to protect her. While he wasn't going to take another zap for a selfish cunt like that woman, Angel needed to be protected.
"CHUUUUUUU!" Lightning let out as electricity coursed from his body, zapping the business woman with a Thunderbolt before she even got to the store. Josh took a deep breath. Once Lightning finished, Josh looked over with the same amount of concern she had shown for Angel. Luckily, Josh knew she'd be fine, he'd just taken one himself yesterday! "That'll teach you to look where you're going then, won't it?" He repeated after it was obvious she'd be fine, even if a bit crispy sice Lightning made no attempt to weaken his attack like he had for Josh yesterday, exact quote from what she told Angel just before. "Come on" he said, taking Angel's hand and leading her back to the Center. "Come on, Lightning, you've caused enough trouble" he called over to the Pikachu, who followed thinking he'd be scolded for disobeying orders. "Pika-pi...."
Once they got to the Center, Josh put a hand on her shoulder. "Go ahead and wash up, leave the dress somewhere I can grab it from, and it'll be there good as new when you get out" he promised. After that, he addressed Lightning.
"While I don't appreciate you disobeying orders and shocking that foul old witch..." He began harshly. Lightning whimpered, he knew what was coming...
".... I'm proud of you for standing up for your friend" he praised, smiling as he patted the Pikachu's head. "You've got a big heart, just try and keep your temper in check" he requested.
Angel Dalton was back at the Pokemon Center. Although she had gotten there in a bit of a daze. She had quickly been brought to big crocodile tears and doing so always made her feel a bit lost in the moment. She felt things so strongly at that time, and she was in pain.
Still, she recognized what was going on. But remained silent. During the moments that had followed her incident she had seemed very much like a frightened child, keeping close to Josh for a sense of safety.
Now that she was back here though, she slipped in the bathroom and a moment later, one of her small arms poked out from it.. holding the slightly stained dress and hanging it on the doorknob for him. As soon as she was sure by feel that it was hanging fine she would stick her hand back in the room and slowly close the door.
The only sounds from her room for a while that could be heard was the shower, although the child was still shaking off the rest of her tears. The sudden awful pain of the coffee, the embarrassment, ruining her dress.. pretty much everything about the situation was awful. The worst.
Eventually she slowly slip out of her room in a bathrobe fully wrapped around her.. "Hey.." she said, looking shy and embarrassed about the situation still.
"Thank you for helping me.. " a slight paused, before she spoke again. "My mommy made that dress for me. She would be upset if it was ruined. Is it.. okay? I almost don't want to look. It's okay if it's not. I promise it's not your fault Mister Josh."

Meanwhile Josh had been working tirelessly to fix up the dress, employing not just the magical spray for stains, but employing the help of the local Nurse Joy, who had seen the incident, as well as an ironing board. Even Lightning had helped by keeping the dress steady while they worked.
Eventually, the dress would look good as new. While normally Josh just used the spray then when he got to a town threw the clothes in the wash, then dried them off, he had taken special care for Angel's dress. He knew it likely meant a lot to her, even if he didn't know how much.
He'd find out soon enough though. After bidding thank yous to Nurse Joy before she went back to work, Josh noticed Angel return from her shower. She had hung up the dress earlier as planned and Josh had, obviously taken it and gotten to work. He smiled over at Angel as she came over, and motioned toward the dress, looking almost sparkly and brand new, hanging up, just waiting for her.
"We did the best we could" he said with a smile. "I hope you like it"
Angel's eyes lit up as she looked at the dress. She held it up and twirled it around, examining it from as many angles as she possibly could. She couldn't even tell that it had gotten ruined! Such at thing was certainly a pick up for her mood! "Thank you! I'm sorry that our fun time got all distracted! I'm also sorry for being a bother!" she said, referring to the fact that she had him fix up her dress in the first place.
Before he could really respond she rushed as fast as she could back in her room. A few minutes passed before she came back out.. looking as clean and pristine as she had looked when she first showed up for their little day.
There was something on her face though. A thought she wasn't expressing.. and if she wasn't expressing it she was wearing it. Eventually though she took off her words and let them come out of her mouth. "Do you think that lady is still around? I want to apologize to her too! I didn't get to before.. we gotta!"

Josh was thrilled when he saw Angel's eyes light up. It gave him joy to see her happy again after that ordeal they had just dealt with. In a flash, she was gone and then back again good as new. As if the accident had never happened. Then he decided to answer her.
"Oh it's fine" he promised with a small smile. "I was just happy to help. You should thank Lightning and Nurse Joy too. They all pitched in to make sure your dress was good as new" he said with a small smile.
Then he couldn't help but start laughing. SHE wanted to apologize to that rude old wretch? He smiled. Oh Angel. He chuckled and put a hand on her shoulder.
"Angel... She had practically no remorse for what she did to you. And as much as I disagree with Lightning for doing it, that old wretch deserved every volt of that Thundershock" he promised with a small smile. "Besides, if we go near her again, I think Lightning will have a ball scaring her" he said with a joking grin. "Better we just go on with what we were doing" he added.
"So, what were we doing? Was it waffles? Pancakes? Frenchtoast? I forget"
First thing was first. Mister Josh was so right about what Angel should do first. You can't leave a good friendly deed go unthanked!
"Thank you so much Lightning.. thank you so much Nurse!" she smiled at them and likely got smiles back.
"I'm so happy that everyone helped, I hope I can help you guys too! It's what I love about going on an adventure!" she said, and meant it so strongly.
However this same feeling made her unsure. Mister Josh said that the woman deserved it, but there was a lingering thought in her mind and her stomach that made her feel like that wasn't true. She really wanted to apologize her and try to make things right.
For now though, she let the issue drop. "You already forgot Mister Josh?" she giggled herself at this, trying to loosen up again. "Pokemon and Pancakes!" she said, taking his hand and pulling him. "And we're already late, so we gotta hurry extra fast." she smiled, hustling out of the Pokemon Center after waving goodbye to the Nurse.
It wouldn't take too long before being surrounded by that sweet tasting smell again. However Angel had one more thing on her mind she had to say. "Does Lightning not get treats when he's bad, like when I was little?" she asked, noticing that he didn't behave sometimes. She wished she could do the same with her naughty B.T... but treats didn't seem to matter much to him.

"Pika Pika!" Lightning chirped in response to her thank you. He seemed just as happy to help as his Trainer was. They did a good deed and they helped a friend in need. That was what mattered! Josh smiled a bit in return and patted Lightning on the head. "He did a great job in helping me iron this baby out. Nurse Joy was great for helping us clean it too, she's done a lot of this kind of thing for travelers, coming in with incredibly dirty clothes drenched with mud, sweat, blood, water, other bodily fluids, the works" he explained, chuckling a bit. "It was a cinch for her to help us out, just happy she was able to help us" he said, shooting a smile to the busy nurse working the counter, who smiled at them back and waved casually as she was busy serving a Trainer who needed their Pokemon healed.
In his heart, Josh knew the crotchety lady deserved every bit of that volt. He didn't care if you were busy, or in a rush, or just having a rough morning, the way she treated a poor little girl, especially after likely at the time ruining an obviously very expensive dress (Though it would LOOK expensive anyway, but Angel had said her mother made it herself. Though to Josh, that only made it even more special then what monetary value could bring), leaving the poor girl to cry her little eyes out almost without an inkling of concern, and just stomping off to grab another cup of her two dollar coffee like it'd never happened? Unforgivable. Normally, he didn't condone Lightning shocking someone, but her? She could rot. And he would HAPPILY let Lightning shock her again if the situation presented itself. And he knew that Lightning felt the exact same way. He knew full well that the Pikachu had zero remorse for what he had done, while in other situations he would have.
He laughed a bit as Angel pulled him along, Lightning climbing onto his shoulder. He waved goodbye to the Nurse Joy before heading out with Angel and Lightning. The sweet taste of pancakes would return, and he would move to head into the building as he addressed her question.
How? With a laugh, of course. "Treats? Angel, Lightning doesn't get "treats", you see?" he said, smiling. "You see... Lightning isn't a pet. None of my Pokemon are. They're my friends. They're my travel companions. They're my equals. And most of all, they're my family. Yes, they listen to my orders, but I see it as being because it's what's best for both of us. As a Trainer, it's my responsibility to be the strategist, to be the one to know exactly what they're supposed to do to get through any situation. And it's their responsibility to carry it out to the best of their ability. It's a partnership that benefits both sides" he explained.
"But.... On the flip side, for when they're bad.... Well, all my Pokemon are quite used to be treating them exceedingly well" he admitted with a laugh. He petted Lightning's head as he ran his fingers through the fur on his head. "Chaaaa~" Lightning chirped affectionately, loving the affection that his Trainer gave him obviously. "They're used to it, it's routine for them. They know that if they act out though, and act bad... Well, I act different in return. It's instinct, to not like something different. Since they like me the way I am, they stay the way they are" he added, before heading into the pancake house.
Before long, an area had been assigned for them where the Trainers could eat at a table, and there was tons of space area them for their Pokemon to eat as well, dedicated to fitting most Pokemon sizes. Their orders had been placed, and Josh was starting to pluck Pokeballs from his belt.
Angel Dalton listened to his speech as she would most other things she was very interested in, with large eyes and almost complete focus. Well.. normally she would give it her complete 100% almost creepy attention, but after doing that before and ended up with a head covered in coffee she was understandably a bit nervous and a bit of her attention was focused on making sure she was looking where she was going. This was very likely a good thing so they didn't repeat it.
To be honest, Angel Dalton wasn't still feeling good about the situation before and it was deeply on her mind. She still hoped deep down in her heart that she would run into the woman from before and get to apologize. Although it was obvious that Josh saw it one way, the way that Angel saw the situation was different. From the sad little girl's perspective, she hadn't seen where she was going.. and then spilled a woman's coffee that she had paid for with her money. It seemed very bad of her.
Although this wasn't as much on her mind when Josh started talking about stuff, although at the same time they had arrived at the cute diner she had wanted to take them at. Standing near the door of it she asked. "I like treats too though! I give them treats, and I give myself treats! They can't get them themselves so I give them! But I'm not supposed to get treats when I'm bad, so shouldn't they not?" It was an odd statement but it showed off her confusion about the situation. She hadn't quite meant treats the way someone might think of giving a dog a dog treat.. although she had met other trainers before who had reinforced this language in her. It wasn't that she saw her Pokemon as pets but more that she had been around so many people who did that their language had altered her own. In a very real way though she just saw them as children like herself. Equals.. but from the standpoint of being a kid. She liked treats, she loved to get candy and stuff when she was good.. wouldn't her Pokemon like the same? Were children.. almost like pets?
