Angel felt pretty good when Psychic hit it's mark. She knew how powerful Gothita was, and it showed. She felt very proud of not only dealing some damage but for letting Gothita show her stuff. She was proud mama for sure.
Ribbon felt pretty good too, although there was much less time to feel good on her end. Suddenly a barrage of red hot flames was heading her way. .. or a spinning wheel of them anyway. Flame Wheel hit Ribbon dead on, sending her flying. As he mentioned the Cyndaquil would aim another barrage of flames her way. "Block it!" Angel squealed, already slightly worried about her little lady.
Gothita quickly send a more physical ball of Psychic energy and the two attacks slammed into each other, cancelling each other out.
"Tell him he did a really good job!" she giggled, almost too amused by her own silly ways of calling out attacks. It was one of the few types or practices they had done. Gothita quickly send a barrage of sound waves out of her little hair bit.. confusing but very Flattering waves.
"Try to hit him harder!" although it didn't do as much damage, Gothita figured that Angel meant to use the Psyshock attack. A more physical.. real ball of psychic energy was formed and sent forward at the Cyndaquil. This would hurt in a more real physical way then the previous Psychic attack.. and even cause damage to the field if it missed.

Josh wasn't going to underestimate her Gothita whatsoever. It'd be harmful for Inferno if he did. And this only re-affirmed how powerful it was indeed. Josh was happy though, that Inferno's first attack managed to hit, though he saw that the second one was blocked by a powerful psychic energy. Had to watch out!
The waves that flattered the Cyndaquil made him chirp excitedly. "Quill! Quill!" he let out happily, he was so innocent... The poor thing was naive, and Josh felt a pang of anger that an attack like that would take advantage of the poor thing. Suddenly, an even bigger ball of energy was formed and sent the way of Inferno.
"Inferno, use Rollout to dodge it!" Josh suddenly called in panic. "Quill!" Inferno let out as he rolled into a ball. "Now use Flamethrower below you while you roll to get airbourne, Inferno!" he let out. "QUIIIILLLLL!" Inferno would let out as he temporarily stopped rolling, staying curled up in a ball as he unleashed a flamethrower that would jet him through the sky, just out of the way of the Psyshock, and out of the way of the impending explosion.
As the Psyshock damaged the field, Josh, who couldn't see well through the smoke, called out to Inferno. "Quick, Flamethrower in the air to collide with Ribbon, and if you miss, aim the Flamethrower at Ribbon herself!" he commanded through the smoke.
With his species being adepts at Smokescreen, Inferno's eyesight in the temporary smoke effect from Psyshock's impact was better then average, allowing him to see what he assumed to be Ribbon in the air. Quickly, he would curl tightly in the ball, still in Rollout as he unleashed Flamethrower through the air again, trying to collide with Ribbon. If he missed however, he would do as Josh asked and aim the Flamethrower at the Gothita herself... A Plan A, and a Plan B.
Wahblamoo. The Cyndaquil named Inferno's mark hit, hitting poor Ribbon and smacking her back towards the ground.
She quickly called out to her wounded gothie. "Ribbon, are you okay!?" She did look concerned, but Ribbon pulled herself off the ground. It was a bit shaky, but there was a determined look on her face. It was on Angel hardly recognized. Was this the same pampered little baby she had known her whole life? What had gotten into her..
Still, seeing that she was okay allowed her to be honest about her own emotions. She was shaking with excitement. She felt a.. feeling of adrenaline and excitement. This was how she had imagined battles would go when she had joined the tournament. This is what she was looking for. She.. was having fun!
She tried to look really cool. Confident and flashy! "Ribbon, try to pin him down with Thunder Wave again, and then charge in!" It wasn't exactly the smartest move as Doubleslap wasn't Gothita's strongest move and wouldn't be helped by her Fake Tears, but it sounded like it might be completely different and throw him off. That.. was how you battled right? It really didn't matter. "This is fun!" she giggled, not being able to hold the feelings in for more then like, a second.

A big grin lit up Josh's face as the tactic worked, and Inferno scored a direct hit. He allowed Angel to check on Gothita as Inferno landed. "Alright!" he let out, raising a fist. "That was great, Inferno! You're doing good! Keep it up!" he encouraged excitedly. "Cynda, Cyndaquil!" Inferno chirped, just as excited and proud of himself for a job well done! Was this what battling other Trainers was like? The high intensity clash of strategy and tactics, attacks and firepower everywhere? Josh was fueled with an adrenaline he was liking and enjoying.
And he was having fun too! He hadn't had this much fun for quite some time! Sure, he was stressed, but he was focused and enjoying himself. And he felt more in sync with his Cyndaquil then he ever had before. Strategies and tactics raced through Josh's mind... What could they do next to get the upper hand here?
He heard Angel call out a command, and Josh nodded over at Inferno. "Get ready, Inferno!" he called. "Quiiiillll!" Inferno let out in a cute little roar, before he suddenly started glowing, engulfed in a white light...
Josh's eyes widened.. What in the world....
He breathed and quickly waved Angel and her Gothita off. "Stop" he said calmly as he watched Inferno. Was he....?
When the light faded, replacing the Cyndaquil Josh knew was a Quilava! Inferno had evolved into Quilava!
But the biggest thing here was the grin that had spread across Josh's face. The pride and joy he felt in seeing his little baby evolve was obvious in his expression. He laughed and walked over, patting his new Quilava on the head. "Hey, you evolved!" he congratulated with a grin. "I didn't see that coming!"
"Quilava!" Inferno let out excitedly in response to the praise.
"Wow! That's cool Mister Josh! Really cool! I think it's amazing when Pokemon do that! I'm so glad I got ta see it!" she looked extremely happy. So happy she could jump for joy.
Ribbon felt a pang of sadness though, as she stared at her. Deep down.. it should only be her that made her trainer feel that way. It didn't feel fair that her trainer would feel that way about another Pokemon.
Ribbon and Angel Dalton had been together for a long time. Since the start of their journey all the way back in Unova. Now in Hoenn.. but even longer then that. Gothita had been with Angel since she was small. They had been basically little babies together.
To be honest.. Ribbon wasn't really ready to grow up. She wanted to be Angel's baby forever. But seeing that look on Angel's face..
She knew she had been holding this back for some time. She wasn't about to be out staged like that.
The same tell-tale signs of evolution were quickly repeated once again, this time on Gothorita. Angel felt a shiver down her spine as it started, and cried out. "W-Wha? Ribbon! RIBBON? I didn't know.. you're going to too?!" her eyes wide as she watched every detail of it. Watching the Pokemon she had known for so long start to change.
Light engulfing her Pokemon, she watched her familiar Pokemon start to shift into a unfamiliar form. For a moment she felt a bit of nervousness. Change was exciting but kind of scary.. wasn't it? Especially when it felt like such a drastic change. Evolution didn't quite feel the same like this.. watching just some cute Pokemon evolve or some Pokemon on TV evolve was different then watching her 'friend' evolve. This feeling brought out Angel Dalton's camera and she quickly started taking pictures. This moment would never happen again.. not in the same way.
That difference could not be out staged and Ribbon knew it. She was counting on it as her body grew taller, and she felt new strength as well. As she felt herself.. become a Gothorita. A Pokemon Angel Dalton had never seen before either. For a split moment.. that excitement that Ribbon always hated was focused on other Pokemon was were it belonged. Focused on her.
"Ribbon! Ribbon! You're taller! You're so beautiful! I can't believe it.." she really was excited.. practically shaking at the change.
It helped.. Ribbon still wasn't sure this was what she honestly wanted. However she wouldn't trade this moment for anything else. The excitement was evident as Angel kept taking pictures.. just so excited to see her precious friend achieve this. For a moment it was like Inferno and Josh didn't even exist.
No hard feelings to them, but sometimes Ribbon wished no one else existed but her and her trainer. Well.. almost no hard feelings. The new Ribbon looked at Inferno and actually gave a bit of a sassy looking glare. Inferno probably didn't care at all, but Ribbon wanted to send him a message that she felt she had successfully sent. That Angel Dalton's heart belonged to her.

"Hm?" Josh let out as he heard the sound and Angel's reactions. She had been respectful enough not to interfere with Inferno's evolution moment. He would show the same respect and allow her to bask in her own. A small smile crossed his face as he saw the tiny Gothita evolve as well. "Quil?" Inferno let out curiously as they watched Angel fawn over and obsess over the newly evolved Ribbon.
Josh smiled and walked over to Inferno, patting his head as he gave the other two a moment. He got on his knees to look at his Pokemon and pulled him into a tight hug. "I am so proud of you" he complimented softly against Inferno. "Quill! Quill! Quillava!" Inferno chirped happily, proud of itself as well.
Josh looked over at Angel and smiled. "I can't believe the both of them evolved" he said with a laugh. "I think we can end our battle here. They both did a great job. And you did too" he said with a smile. Inferno noticed Ribbon's glare but was too happy to really care.
"Oh, you don't wanna try them out!?" she said, glancing over at him. She was actually surprised. That seemed odd. Still.. she really was just so excited. "They must have worked really hard! I bet Inferno inspired Ribbon. You should say thank you." she said, patting her humanoid lolita on her back.
Ribbon.. didn't quite like this idea. She pouted.. her victory was being attributed to this other Pokemon! No fair! Whatever "cheeks" she had were practically puffed up. She made a haughty little noise in Inferno's direction. It was NOT a thank you, but Angel Dalton seemed satisifed and said. "Good girl."
She paused again, looking at the nice trainer she had just shared an experience with. "T-Thank you.. I.. I had a lot of fun." her camera was still swinging along her neck, and she held it up.. should she ask him for a picture? She.. she wanted to.

Josh smiled a bit. Aye, part of him wanted to keep going, but another part of him was putting Inferno first. That was the part of him that won that inner struggle. "Angel, don't worry" he comforted with a laugh. "We'll battle again soon, I'm sure. But remember that you spent all day desperately searching for Ribbon and I've spent most of the day training this little guy to perfect his Flamethrower" he explained, patting Inferno on the head. "As much as I'd like to continue, I know adrenaline can be a cruel and forgetful mistress. But I also don't want to risk pushing ourselves, as well as our Pokemon, too hard. It's better we resume after everyone's had a rest" he suggested with a small smile.
"We can always resume tomorrow if you're up to it" he offered. "I know Inferno and I could certainly use the training. And both Inferno and Ribbon still have another evolution" he said, chuckling. "Here, lemme show you" he offered as he pulled out his phone and started looking it up quickly, his mach speed-fast typing fingers whizzing across the phone's built-in touch keyboard as if it were nothing. Then he found the site he was looking for. While it wasn't as good as a Pokedex, it was close enough. The image of the Volcano Pokemon pulled up on Josh's phone, which he showed Angel. Pressing a button, it even described the Pokemon, not in a Pokedex voice, but again, close enough.
"Typhlosion, the Volcano Pokemon. If its rage peaks, it becomes so hot that anything that touches it will instantly go up in flames. It attacks using blasts of fire. It creates heat shimmers with intense fire to hide itself. It has a secret, devastating move. It rubs its blazing fur together to cause huge explosions"
Josh smiled a bit at the Quilava and Pikachu that kept trying to peek over his shoulder to see it. He laughed a bit and adjusted himself so they, as well as Ribbon if she wished, could see as well.
"Alright, let's try Ribbon" he said as he did the same process. The final form of Gothita would pop up, which Josh would again show Angel. "Ha... Pika!" Lightning let out in amazement. He was impressed. Ribbon was gonna get so big! "Quill! Quillava!" Inferno chirped, feeling the same way. Of course, inside, he was burning with excitement over the prospect of becoming a Typhlosion as well, like his mom and brother back at Izumi's ranch.
The voice boomed from the phone again.
"Gothitelle, the Astral Body Pokemon. Starry skies thousands of light-years away are visible in the space distorted by their intense psychic power. They can predict the future from the placement and movement of the stars. They can see Trainers’ life spans"
Josh chuckled a bit. He had seen the excitement in Angel's eyes as they battled, and secretly hoped that seeing a glimpse of the future for Ribbon would help spur her on, and motivate her more then before to chase her dreams.
After that little technology assisted Future Sight, Angel had asked Ribbon to say thank you, suggesting Inferno had inspired her. Her reaction this time was noticed by both Josh, Lightning and Inferno. Josh raised an eyebrow but didn't question it further in public. But that reaction made him wonder... What if Inferno HAD been the reason for Ribbon's evolution? Was it a jealousy thing? Angel HAD loved seeing Inferno evolve... But could a Pokemon just evolve at will like that? The mysteries of Pokemon struck again, it seemed.
He smiled at her thanks. "I should thank you" he said friendlily. "Inferno and Lightning met a new friend, and so did I. And it's because of you that my little baby finally evolved" he said with a laugh. "It was a lot of fun though" he agreed. He noticed she was holding up her camera... "Hm?"
Angel Dalton was a bit of a silly, and had never thought of using the magical everything at you fingertips information land to check up on things on even her most cherished Pokemon. So seeing what he showed.. wow.
"Ribbon! You can do so many cool things! Did you hear? Did you?" she squealed with excitement. Moving over to hug her Pokemon. This caused the expression on Ribbon's face to change from whatever pouty feelings she had before to a more happy one. Genuinely loving the attention and the happiness that Angel was sharing with her.
Angel's bright smile continued onto her next words. "Yeah! Let's all get a rest!" she said. She totally knew that. Yeah. It wasn't time to continue the fight at all.. who even suggested that? She really was starting to get excited.. the things that her Ribbon could do sounded so.. amazing and almost super heroic! They could be the best team ever! Just thinking about how amazing Ribbon was.. w-wow.. she remembered how hard her Pokemon worked for her, finding her photo album. It was then that she responded not quite fully realized question.
"I.. I like taking pictures of my friends. S-So I can remember them when they go! Can I take some of you too Mister Josh?" she looked a little shy as she said it. She hadn't always got the best reaction to the desire, but it was a real one. She was always troubled by the thought of never getting to see a person again.. and while a picture wasn't the same at all it at least was something.
"Then maybe we could all get rest and something to eat!"

He smiled a bit and nodded. "Aye, we'll all get a good nights sleep tonight, then tomorrow we can have a rematch" he promised. "Once everyone's up to full strength, the battle will be even better that way, right?" he suggested with a cheeky grin.
She next asked if she could take pictures, and he nodded with a laugh. "Of course. I don't mind" he responded. "Living the life you do, I see no harm in wanting to remember the people that you meet on a journey like this. It's a healthy desire, I see no issue with it" he promised.
He nodded. "Yeah, maybe I could introduce you to my team as well" he suggested with a smile. "Inferno and Lightning aren't the only Pokemon I have with me, of course" he said, laughing a bit. "I mean, I have a lot, actually... At the ranch at home. But I have a full six with me at the moment, and a few you haven't met"
The young girl nodded, smiling at him. She picked herself up off the floor, having knelt down to her new Gothorita's height to get the closest look she could. She dusted the dust off her skirt, then glanced over again. Another smile. She was rather skilled at those.
"You promise?" she said, taking her camera in one hand. Then she blinked a few times. "I mean.. you'll be here tomorrow? We'll play some more?" Her question was simple, but there was a touch of something. However Angel Dalton was not the kind of girl who hid this sort of thing. "No one has ever stayed for a whole day, and been there in the morning! We could go and get breakfast at a place and have juice and pancakes!"
The thought was exciting to her, as exciting as the battle was. Exciting as the Pokemon were... the Pokemon! "A full team though? A full team! I have bunches of Pokemon too! We can show and tell them maybe! Couldn't we?'
Post by Josh Dragomir on Aug 25, 2014 19:33:08 GMT -5
He smiled down at her. "I promise" he said. "I'll stick around the Pokemon Center tomorrow after I get up and wait for you" he promised. "It'd be nice to have some company for a change" he said with a laugh. "I don't usually see the people I meet the next morning, so I guess you're a special exception to what's happened normally. I haven't seen a friend more then a day since I used to travel with a friend of mine" he added.
"Juice and pancakes huh?" he said in response to her wanting to go out for breakfast. "Couldn't hurt" he said with a cheeky grin. "I'll take that plan" he added, smiling. "Aye, it'd be nice to show off our teams, of course. I've got some decently rare Pokemon I'm sure you'd love to see!" he offered happily. "Pika Pika!" Lightning chirped excitedly. "Quill! Quillava!" Inferno added.
She nodded, the things he was saying totally resonated with her. "Yeah! I thought people stayed together more. It's sad when people don't stay together like superpals." she said. She really had been idealizing her journey up to this point. She thought by now she would be traveling with a few people, all doing things together. To have a big friendship journey. It's what she wanted more then anything.
Then she gave him a confused look.. tilting her head and staring at him with her large eyes. "Wait.. rare?" she said.. moving a bit closer and staring up at him with a pretty excited look on her face. He already had so many Pokemon that she had never seen before.. so to her all of them were rare. So the concept of a Pokemon this trainer found rare. She just wondered what it could be.
It could be literally anything. He had this fluffy dressed and fluffy hearted 10 year old's full attention at this point. She might need to be reminded she was planning on taking pictures, despite her hands still firmly gripping the camera.

He smiled and nodded a bit. "Aye, I kinda miss traveling with Maxine. Just sucks I don't know where she is" he said, frowning a bit as he remembered. He forgot to mention that most likely the aforementioned Maxine was dead. Long dead. But why in the HELL would he tell that to a 10 year girl? It'd do nothing but cause pain for the both of them if he got into it, so he decided to not mention it further.
She seemed confused, maybe a bit excited at the thought of rare Pokemon. Josh didn't really consider himself any better for the fact he had in his possession quite a few pokemon that were considered "Rare" in these parts, but if it made the girl happier, it was a label he'd take for them. To him though, they were just his Pokemon, his babies, his partners and his friends, rare or not.
"Well, I'll show you tomorrow" he promised. "But you've already met one of them" he said with a small smile as he motioned toward his Quillava. "Cyndaquil, Quilava and Typhlosion are considered rare Pokemon, who usually can only be found in Johto, and they're usually incredibly hard to find even there. Somehow, Professors used to be able to find them on occassion and present them to starting Trainers, but I don't think that's the case anymore. I don't see very many of these guys anymore" he admitted. "I'm very lucky to have assorted a small group of Pokemon like this one, but I love them all the same"
"By the way... Didn't you mention something about pictures?" he asked her curiously.
