The unreactive Deino managed to narrowly avoid both blasts of the attack, but that was no big deal. A thin icy veil was now between them, giving Cress and Simipour the advantage there. Simipour was capable of moving across the slick surface with a bit more ease than the Dragon-type likely could. However, that was unfounded as the Deino suddenly pushed forward with a touch of momentum and a sprinkle of luck to come into close rang to bite Simipour, who could only try to tumble away, only to have her arm caught in the maw of the beast, taking damage.
"While he's close, get him!" Simipour reached out with her other hand to try and grip the Deino and took in a breath, firing off a close range Icy Wind attack right at the blind creature, the point-blank nature of the attack hopefully ensuring a hit before using her grip to try and flip around to behind the dragon-type, firing off a Water Gun at the Deino - this was more to use the ice, as Water Gun shoved Simipour back across the ice like a miniature rocket, right until the ice ended and she skidded to a halt.

It was pretty shocking how the next series of events turned out—once Riku had veered in close, she knew that something bad was going to happen—and it did, because she eventually got smacked with an “in your face” strategy attack that consisted of a point-blank Icy Wind; and then a sudden ninja-esque series of moves that made the Simipour duck around behind her Deino and blasted another Water Gun attack to make it skid across the ice—and now Riku was stuck, flailing around on the ice’s surface, skidding like crazy with no apparent direction to go. Ah shoot, come on, break out of it! She thought in her mind as she watched her own ‘mon flail across the surface. She then cringed before whistling another chain of notes—one that involved sticking her two fingers in and letting out a sharp blast, before following it up with another chain that consisted of her “summoning” tune—and she hoped that even with the point-blank attack, that her Dragon-type could hear her!
I was definitely not counting on the Icy Wind, looks like this is going to be a long one, she thought, cringing as Riku finally found some purchase on the icy ground, before attempting to use another Roar attack to shake off the woozy feeling it had suffered right in the face—and who knew that this second attempt at a Roar was much louder, cracks started racing across the ice, before Izumi saw the chance—“Riku, stamp down hard and break the surface, we need to get back on solid ground!” and she heard a growl of reply, before Riku seemingly reared up, and brought its front feet down as hard as it could manage; which made the ice crack and shudder some more, but not completely broken just yet. “Ah dang it,” she hissed, noticing that his movement speed was slower than it was earlier. “Try to stall for time!” she added once more—and decided to try the “ace in the hole” she’d been struggling to practice, but had never put in place in actual combat.
She then began with a chain of the mournful tune, but suddenly raised the pitch until it was almost so high that it was lost to human hearing—and then cut it off with the last notes of the “musical saw” theme she was trying to fix and eventually work out. She then watched as her Deino finally managed to skid off to the ice and attempted to gather some more draconic energy by taking a deep breath, and digging its own feet into the ground—as this as the cue to throw the Dragonbreath attack at more power than normal. A few moments later, another shot of draconic energy raced out towards the Simipour; and then she realized something—there was an apparent chance to Paralyze with this attack; and she’d neglected about it, at least until this moment! Right after the last traces of draconic energy left its mouth, she then watched as her Deino cut across, seemingly mimicking the Simipour’s earlier actions, and then lowering its head for a surprise Headbutt attack!
--Deino: 75% (due to full-force Icy wind attack, Dragon’s weakness to Ice-type attacks)
Roar to crack and hopefully break the ice; then a Dragonbreath, followed up by a surprise Headbutt from behind--
It seemed like Deino wasn't much of a skater as it was blasted across the icy expanse. Simipour did a tiny little dip and bow, much like an official waitress would do, as she watched the Deino slide away. That'll teach him to get close to her again. Cress watched in silence as the Deino attempted to get a better footing before he heard more of those mournful notes - Izumi's battle style was something of a music art, it seemed, and while not telegraphing one's attacks out loud was practical, it also supplied Cress with the advantage of still knowing when something was going to happen.
Cress waited until the roar and pounce. "Simipour, use Work Up!" Simipour took on a heightened sense of energy about her as she focused, her body flexing ever so slightly with her hands straight up in the air, over her head. Stall for time, eh? Well, they weren't going to give her the benefit. Simipour was now pumped up and prepared for the next bit of combat, but before Cress could issue a true order, he found himself cringing as Izumi's notes hit higher than he was comfortable with before vanishing from his hearing range completely.
Luckily, the distance between Simipour and Deino and the telltale signs of a ranged attack gave them the cue they needed. "Simipour! To the side!" The simian sprung into a cartwheel, rolling to the left as the Dragonbreath fired off. She'd have to try better than that to hit them. However, the Headbutt was unexpected as the Deino came in home, too close.
Simipour let off another gust of Icy Wind as the Deino hit hot, taking the Headbutt to the gutin order to coat the little dragon in the slowing wind before skidding back, continuing the icy stream while doubling over a bit, now somewhat on all fours.
60% HP +1 Attack, +1 Sp.Attack
OOC NOTE:: Work Up, hit by Headbutt, used Icy Wind x2

She knew that this could end in one of three ways: with her win, with a loss, or with an actual tie. But what happens if it’s a tie?! Nobody wins, then? She thought as Riku was still struggling to find more purchase on the ice that hadn’t begun melting away. She watched the simian seemingly gain some body mass; and that was not as good—at least, not until it suddenly countered with another full-force Icy Wind attack! She secretly flinched, because she knew that it was one of the moves that could effectively slow down any Pokemon—more so if that Pokemon was of the Dragon-type, then it would take some damage as well. Gritting her teeth, she then decided to switch tactics altogether—because from the looks of things, Cress was taking advantage of the “distance” that she normally utilized with Deino in order to gain an edge.
Time to veer in really close and then do the unexpected… she thought, suddenly changing her mind and then whistling a loud blast; as her ‘mon was disoriented from the second full-out Ice-type attack it had taken in the face. Riku then let out another attempt at a roar, before stamping down as hard as it could once again, and the cracks in the ice deepened—but it still wasn’t enough to shatter the surface—in fact it added another layer to it, seemingly repairing the earlier damage it had sustained. Shoot. Switching tactics in 3, 2, 1… she thought as she watched the simian seemingly drop down on all fours, keeping up with the blast of super cold air which was deadly to the Dragon-type. The next string of notes started out as a sprightly tune—which was a command for Bite—yet midway it shifted to the “musical saw” section, and the final one was simply one, clear note hanging on the air, before it faded.
What did it all mean? She watched as Riku howled out a war cry, “Deino!!!” before it proceeded to skid along the ice, attempting to cut back and away from the ice wind-breathing simian, and it then used the skidding to propel itself forward with its two back legs, sliding across the ice and narrowly missing the blast of cold air—and then taking a jump; who knew that Deinos could jump—and at the very last second, bared its fangs for another Bite attack on the Simipour’s exposed back! Hoping that it had connected, she watched as Riku landed, and then quickly lowered its head, attempting to catch it in another off-guard tactic, hoping that the Headbutt attack would propel the Simipour forward from its hunched position; and secretly hoped that it would fall face-first on the slick surface!
--Deino: 55% (due to taking the first Icy Wind attack straight in the face; Dragon-type’s weakness to Ice-type attacks)
Avoided most of the second Icy Wind attack but not without sustaining damage as well, then took a jump propelled by skidding across the ice to use Bite, then landed and attempted another Headbutt attack on Simipour--
The Icy Wind assault was working and the Deino's drop in speed was becoming apparent. Cress smirked to himself at the use of the attack - his Simipour's slowing technique allowed him to maintain the distance and pick off his opponents with a barrage of ranged attacks! However, even with the sluggishness currently inflicted on the young dragon, it still managed to skate on the ice well enough to flank Simipour mid-attack, launching himself at the simian in midair.
An aerial attack would have to be faster than that to work, however. Simipour shoved herself forward with all four limbs, dashing into the ice before her and sliding across before popping up to her feet as she hit the other side of the patch of ice. She could use the ice to her advantage, too! "Great work! Now, Water Gun, then freeze it!" Cress slowly flowed his hand as he talked before pointing his finger right at the Deino!
Simipour let loose another blast of water, aimed at the dragon-type - having been seen a few times before, it was probably dodgeable, but the after attack of Icy Wind had a wider cone of effect and the slowing nature of the attack was always going to work in her benefit!
60% HP +1 Attack, +1 Sp.Attack
OOC NOTE:: Avoided Bite/Headbutt due to speed of Deino / relocation, fired off Water Gun, then Icy Wind.
